I was nervous about getting my service but Alexandria Barker was my tech and she put me at easy with her calm relaxing demeanor! She made me feel comfortable and talked me through the whole process. I check in at 5 p.m. my appointment was at 5:15. The receptionist was pleasant. Unfortunately she had a hard time finding my appointment. Once she did, she asked me to take a seat.. While check in people were friendly. I noticed a young lady getting a mini neck message from her peer. He spoke, I spoke back. The young lady never said anything. I sat down, there was one person before me and 6 after me. Everybody stylist came and got them except mines. At 5:10, I get a call from Bellus, the person asked where was I. I said I've been here since 5pm and I'm sitting on the couch. She stands up and it's the damn girl that was getting a massage while sitting in the receptionist area. She looked at me and hurried off the phone. Now, it's 5:20, the receptionist came over and said the stylist is setting up and she'll be still me. It's 5:30 and I'm PISSED so I left. She has short dark hair, with a stripe sweater with glasses. I'm sure it's not hard to find who was assigned to me. Work etiquette should be taught to this young lady. Evidently she could careless or just didn't want to do me hair, either way it's unprofessional and a bad look on Bellus. I'll be filling a complaint tomorrow. read more

I went in to get a perm and came out looking like I just got out of the ocean and didn't brush my hair, but not in a good way. The girl I had first who rolled most of hair was awesome but had to leave because of a doctors appointment. So an instructor finished rolling the top of my hair and applying the perm solution. She sat me under the dryer for about an hour, checked on my hair once then a different instructor came and rinsed my hair. As he takes my hair out of the towel, my hair look pretty straight. I asked him if my hair took the perm and her said yeah, it looks like it as he's twisting my hair then said that he was just "reshaping" the curls. He then continued to put products in my hair then dry it with a diffuser. Unfortunately, since they took forever - I was asked to pay before I saw the final product since the front desk girl was about to leave. $40 down the drain and not a single change to my hair. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the girl I had first, Priscilla, was so sweet. read more

Bellus Academy instructions do not prepare you for your new carrier. Bellus Academy will hold your certification if you do not pay for any absent fees. Bellus Academy wants me to pay $5600 in order from the to receive my certificate due to accrued absent fees. Covid hit hard and I was pregnant. Life happened. Bellus Academy should be embarrassed by the way they represent themselves. Please think twice about this school. read more

She was able to curl and style my hair and get them to hold all day for an event I had. Usually my hair drops fairly quickly. She was gentle on my sensitive scalp and offered great conversation. I come to this Bellus location pretty regularly mostly for haircuts and color. The employees and instructors are generally nice & welcoming, and the students enthusiastic although obviously all with very different skill sets. This review is for the spa side. I was supposed to receive a microdermabrasion facial, however, the student who provided the facial, while very nice, did not know how to use the equipment properly. I've had this facial here and other places, and even asked her if she needed some help and her response was that she was okay. Normally you feel some pressure and suction from the machine but she was just gliding it over my face therefore I only got my face washed really well and a mask, so pretty disappointed. On each previous occasion as well the student usually provides a brief massage, but the student just sort of played around with me hair, not very relaxing. My other issue is that it was absolutely freezing in the room and I was in the space right in front of the entryway door with people coming in and out constantly. Needless to say, not a pleasant experience...I'm posting in hope that the instructors ensure students know how to use equipment properly and check in with clients about comfort. I fully realize this is a teaching institution and not a professional spa, but I still expect some level of competence particularly when it comes to specialty facials. The spa instructors tend not to check in with clients about their experience so I think this warrants a review with the hope of some improvements on the spa side. read more
