Got recommended by one of my coworkers saying they have the best wings in town. They really are good but not the best. What I like about their wings is that they are spicy they have 3 levels of spicy you can chose. Also their Fried Oreos are amazing best I've tasted. The service was great. Good food, sweet servers. Definitely a sports bar atmosphere with a twist. I don't know if they only serve sushi at night or what but they had the Hu-Dat menu as well for us lunch. We ordered fish tacos and a burger. They were delicious. :) My husband says try the Parmesan fries! The little "almost 80" ladies next to us ordered something from the Hu-dat menu with noodles and were raving about it! We eat at here a few times a year when we visit and we usually have good experiences. Tonight we ordered off the HuDat menu (which we have been eating for over a decade) and it was really off of the mark. The spring rolls were falling apart, the orange chicken was so overcooked and dry it was almost like a jerky. We aren't scratching it off the list completely but we may need to stick to the Benchwarmers side of the menu from now on. Disappointing. read more

Had a party of 6 and the young folks that work there did a great job finding us seats, serving us and getting the order correct. Casual spot, kind of small but the food was tasty, we all got a bit of everything. I had the blackened Redfish and it was very good. Sports bar with delicious food. It was mother's day and they gave us a free cupcake. The service is great and everyone is nice. There is music playing and it's not too loud or too quiet. Came in for lunch after the beach. Place was packed so we sat at the bar. For as packed as it was the service was A-1. Our drinks came right up, everyone was nice and friendly. I had the pulled pork nachos, son had the sliders. We also had a 6 piece lemon pepper wings. Everything was delicious. If I lived here I would probably be a regular. Got off the ferry and needed a place for lunch before heading back to Houston. Found this place on yelp and it was delicious! Our service was excellent too! We had the kimchi fries, our server said they ran out of regular fries and had to use the shoestring ones- but we wouldn't have known the difference since it was our first time. They were yummy. We also ordered the blackened fish tacos and the oyster sliders- both delicious. The food seemed was very fresh and definitely homemade. We will be back on our next trip to Port Aransas! read more

I'm giving 3 stars as the food was decent. The hand battered fried oysters are noteworthy. Unfortunately the service was lackluster and tacky. I was charged $1 for the cheese that came on my patty melt. The menu says "with your choice of cheese". I chose cheddar, and when I mentioned it on the bill I was lied to that "changing the cheese was an upgrade fee". There was no predetermined cheese to begin with, so I did not swap any cheese out-only made the choice the menu stated. I was never offered a refill on my soft drink either. I'm fairly certain we were treated this way because some female servers can't tactfully handle serving other females. As servers ourselves we left laughing at how terrible the service was. We have been here twice before and liked it . The wait staff are friendly and do a good job. We had a dozen wings that were very good. The problem I have is we ordered a pulled pork nacho appetizer after being informed they were out of shrimp, oysters, and they don't serve sushi after 4pm on Sunday. If they had told us this when they seated us we would not have had a problem with it, probably So, we ordered wings and nachos. The nachos were very disappointing. $11.50 for what I could buy at a convenience store for $1.99. C' mon Rockport restaurants! When you figure out you have to at least meet expectations to become something other than a tourist robber, you will have success. If you are in the area and looking for great bar food this is the place to be. They also offer a selection of the HuDat menu if you are craving a different style of food. The Latin burger is absolutely amazing and their sweet potato fries leave you wanting more. The dining area is small so if planning on going with a large group arrive early or it can be difficult to get a table but definitely worth the wait. Benchwarmers is a local favorite and always delivers a great meal! read more

We were first timers here last night, big crowd, not a very big dining area, but it works. Friendly prompt service. The neat think is, that the Hu DAT restaurant around the corner share the same kitchen, so you get to look at two menus. That was great. I chose Hunan beef from the HuDat menu and it was good. Since almost all sit down restaurants in Rockport-Fulton close at 9 o'clock during the week, and that's when we normally are free to go out to eat, we tried Benchwarmers in Fulton about 45 minutes to closing. Service was fast, the place was 90 full, every screen had a different sports channel on, and the radio was blaring. All bases covered. My date ordered a Latin burger and I chose the fried oysters. Both came with a choice of potatoes, and we each got a little stainless fry basket of sweet potato fries. She enjoyed the burger, but I hit a roadblock when the oysters were 'Cajun spice dusted' (not noted on menu) before frying. I'm unfortunately a "no hot spice" person, so I told the waiter (a nice young surfer dude), and he promptly offered to redo them without the spicing. No more than 5-10 minutes later I had them at my table. They were great. There were hushpuppies as well, and they were good. All in all, a nice late dinner. Burgers were Luke warm at best. Staff was not trained. They need to train the kitchen staff or put a curtain up over window to kitchen. No gloves, all kinds of cross contamination going on. Including watching the cooks drop a spatula on the floor and pick it up and use it. Plus mashing down trash in the trashcan with bare hands and once again go straight back to handling food. Desperately looking for something new to try, that was laid back. Like others have said, this was a breath of fresh air to Rockport. Food was good, not frozen, and not overpriced. Nice breath of fresh air in a mainly salty bodied area. They have sushi served until 4pm so be sure to ask for a menu. Most peculiar item on the list for burgers is the doughboy. It is a burger that is in between 2 krispy creme donuts *insert mouthwatering comment here. read more

We had lunch here today and were well satisfied with our experience. We arrived at about 11:15 and were promptly greeted at the door. We were told to take a seat anywhere, which we did and our server immediately took our drink order. The drinks came quickly but we needed a few more minutes to look at the menu. The wife got the grilled shrimp and a salad and I got the fish tacos with blackened redfish. For my side I got french fries and for an appetizer we ordered the fried pickles. After a short wait the pickles arrived and they were delicious. They came with a nice crispy breading and were perfect! A short time later the wife's salad was served and it was really fresh looking to me and according to her very nice indeed. The main dishes arrived and she was pleased with the shrimp and really liked their cocktail sauce. My fish tacos were the best I've ever had anywhere. Very fresh ingredients and not fishy at all! The french fries were hand cut and perfectly fried. This is truly a place to come for way above average food and service. Oh yes we will eat here again! read more

On my first visit to the relatively new restaurant I was pleasantly surprised. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. There were 3 of us, each having a different entre. I ordered the Redfish, which was done to perfection. I got it fried, although there were other options, and the batter was done to perfect crispness, while the fish was done but not overdone. The hush puppies were excellent as was the tartar sauce. I ordered the hand breaded onion rings which were very greasy. The waitress did apologize and said they had someone new in the kitchen. She deleted the upcharge for them, and said to try them again the next time when he had more experience frying them. My friends were equally satisfied with their dinners, so it was a good choice all the way around. And don't miss their homemade cheesecake for dessert! read more

I really want to like this place because it is casual and has good music, but we ordered pulled pork nachos for &11.50 and got a very small plate with 2 little clumps of pulled park topping about 15 chips covered in gas station cheese sauce. Very disappointing. The wings were good and the beer was cold but overall very small portion size for the prices. read more
