Rockport/Fulton's sports bar with sushi and burgers!? Why not? This place has a sports bar feel, with sports on every television, on every wall. They're constantly showing a few different games simultaneously. You're not going to miss a single shot or replay in this place. The menu is a strange mashup of burgers and sushi, on two different menus. The mix up works! I ended up getting the banh mi sandwich, made with pork fresh veggies on a french roll. It was served with sliced jalapenos artistically spread across the plate. We also got sweet potato fries, which are delivered in a little fry basket. I've never seen fries delivered like that, and have to wonder if this little fry basket is really what they're putting in the fryer? It doesn't look like it. The food was good, but it needed some kind of dipping sauce or something to go with the fries. We just had the option of generic ketchup, and some sort of aioli or sauce would have been nice. The service was great- the staff really did a great job making sure that the food was good, that the drinks were filled, and even made some recommendations. The restaurant was clean. The restroom has 'inspirational' sports quotes posted on the men's room wall. Parking is easy- there's a city owned lot across the street that you can park at for free. Ordered via phone for Hu Dat tonight. Worst meal ever! The tempura chicken looked like remnants (little pieces, not even nuggets). They had no taste whatsoever and were dry and cold. The fried rice looked like rice with saffron flavoring. No taste at all. The lemon sauce was watered down, with absolutely no flavoring. The only half-decent item was the egg drop soup. I always check reviews and yet, have to say, I am extremely disappointed. I will say that the girl answering and taking the order was very nice. The good stopped there. I will not eat here again. Stopped for a few beers and a bite to eat while visiting and wow. The food was absolutely delicious. The hostess was sweet and accommodating, let us sit against the "window bar" while we waiting for a table, took our drink orders. Very friendly. Our waiter, I believe his name was Andrew, let us a know our table was ready but we opted to stay at the bar because the place was absolutely packed. I just felt better staying out of the way. He was also very accommodating, quick and willing to make last minute changes, which I felt so bad about, but thank you! The kimchi fries were killer, the oyster sliders were to die for and the redfish tacos were amazing. My kid had Doughboy burger, which he finished in almost literally 4 bites and was more than satisfied. He also recommends the House Chips as a replacement for the fries. I am giving this restaurant 4 stars but that could change with another visit. This restaurant is super cute and fun and has a seemingly amazing menu but if you look deeper there are a few disappointments. The concept is great and the food was really tasty, but there were things I noticed may be issues in the future. My husband ordered house salad and fried shrimp, shrimp was good, salad came out after shrimp and it was a cesar salad not house. Our waitress was new and it was her first day. I ordered the The Hen with sweet potato waffle fries and both of my boys ordered the Dough Boy with regular fries. The Dough boy is probably one of the most interesting meals I have ever had! It is a burger with cheese, topped with bacon and a sunny side up egg. The buns are Krispy kreme donuts! Sounds bizarre but if you are in a certain mood it really works!!! My oldest son devoured it! Certainly a fun experience to try such an unusual burger! Benchwarmers also serves wings and sushi! We didn't order any sushi but lots of people around us were seeming to enjoy it! So my only issues were that after we waited for a while for our food we were informed that they were out of donuts, I am not sure if this is a common issue. Thankfully they were able to get more in time by some miracle. Also they do not serve liquor, only beer and malt liquor. Finally it seemed like they didn't carry basic things like lemons, I feel like if you are serving fried fish you should always have lemons but they do not carry them ever. Also it seems like there is a lot of buzz around their Kimchi but they do not make it in house, they buy it elsewhere... and lastly there is only 1 bathroom. I know it is silly but that is such a problem in a busy restaurant! We did enjoy our experience and I want to go back to try sushi. All and all this is a great addition to the Rockport area! I know my boys will be begging to go back for the Dough boy! Update* we visited last night, we walked in 5 minutes before closing! Nice new place, sports bar ambiance. The food is good, not great, my opinion, others like it better than I do. The place was clean, the staff is friendly. Plenty of parking. This place should have a five star rating. In a town notorious for mediocre tourist food, Benchwarmers is a breath of fresh air. Everything on the menu we tried was delicious and all the food we didn't try on other people's tables looked equally delicious. The biggest surprise was the sushi and the poké. Simply amazing. Music was a little loud but. It enough to lower to a 4 star. Best part of all, some of the best prices in Rockport. We go to Benchwarmer's every time we visit Rockport, and have always been happy with this restaurant! It does take a while to get your food, but they're up front about the wait. There's even a sign on the wall that says "This isn't a fast food restaurant". But the service is great, and the atmosphere is relaxed. And the food is all around delicious! My boyfriend and I came in at 1:00pm on a Saturday and there were open seats along the windows where the hostess or waitress standing by the door, sat us down. Once we sat down she didn't follow us to give us menus or say "we'll be right with you". Since this was our first time we were confused and thought maybe we order a different way? We sat there for 10 minutes looking around with no one acknowledging and no waitresses on the floor to ask. More people came in and we're waiting on a table and another waitress came out to sit them down and immediately gave them menus and asked for what they wanted to drink. I was able to catch her attention and she said "oh I'm sorry you were first" dropped off the menus but then ran away before we can even say anything and then never came back again. She came back to give the other table their drinks and food order and we still haven't even had anyone ask us for our drink order. We sat there for another 15 minutes and decided to just walk out at 1:25pm . First time visiting and didn't have such a good experience , wish we could've at least got waters. read more

We came back again on our vacation this year and it was only meh.. Two of us ordered the same chicken sandwich, however only one was edible, My chicken was so rubbery I couldn't even pull it apart with my hands much less chew it. When I addressed this issue with the waitress she just stared at me and said "OK" like she didn't know what to do.
