I try a new coffee shop every Saturday and today it was Benelux. There isn't a lot of street parking, but there is an underground garage behind it, which is so convenient. It's located next to Village District. I was greeted immediately by a nice young man. I asked for his hot food suggestion, and of course he suggested the waffles! I ordered a waffle with fresh bananas and Nutella...every bite was absolutely delicious. I also ordered a lavender latte and loved it. They sell scones from a local vendor and I had a gluten free orange cranberry scone which was also delicious. Benelux is spacious and has plenty of seating. Tables, high tops and even a couple of comfortable love seats. read more

This is great coffee shop with a good, family friendly a diverse vibe. Benelux offers a good variety of coffee drinks and delicious pastries. We ordered lattes and other pastries, and they were all delicious. I met the new owners when I stopped by, and they shared their new plans for upgrades and improvements. They own other coffee shops in Colombia, so I'm guessing those improvements will be good. It is located in a shopping plaza centrally located. If you are not from the area, the GPS will take you straight to it. There is a parking lot for the entire shopping plaza with free parking. If you like to work in coffee shops, this one gets a bit busy and noisy at times. Keep that in mind. The staff was friendly and helpful. The space is comfortable and common areas are clean. Used to come often but has undergone some sort of ownership change. Normal coffee drinkers will find there is no cream thermos out to put your own cream in. Plus today at 1025a five minutes after I sat down with my coffee they came to tell us they were closing for painting. read more

Very neat spot! They have tables and unique chairs throughout. It smells so sweet throughout. The wall to the left as you walk in is eye catching. I thought it was just wall art, but I noticed the wall art is composed of coffee beans. It is massive! Very cool...I ordered an Americano with lavender. Delicious!!! They have tempting looking pastries in the case. The waffles caught my eye. I ordered the king waffle. It had fresh strawberries, bananas, whip cream and chocolate drizzled on top. Amazing. Simply amazing. The fruit was so fresh. The waffle was cooked to perfection and it was plated like it was art. It tasted as good as it looked. Me and my friends came here and got the avocado toast and coffees. They bring the food to you and the service was great and very quick. The coffee is a bit on the expensive end along with some of the pastries, but the avocado toast was only around $6 from what I remember. The food was amazing, I definitely recommend the avocado toast. The coffee was good. They had many good breakfast options and I want to come back and try the quiche. The ambiance is decent, it feels kind of empty though. I think it would be a good place to come study. read more

I was a loyal customer here for about 3 years before moving away. I finally got the chance to come back after moving back to the area and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I don't know what happened but this is *not* the Benelux it used to be. The entire vibe has changed overall. It went from a super friendly, friendly coming neighborhood coffee shop to just another white slate overly modern cafe. My iced vanilla latte was so sweet I couldn't even drink it. My waffle was forgotten about on the cooker and was given to me overcooked. The poor guy was working completely alone. I likely will not ever be back. read more

Atmosphere: Benelux is a cozy cafe in Raleigh's Village District. There are several tables inside and quiet music, so it's a great place to get some work done. Service: Our barista was friendly and our drink came out very quickly! Food: We ordered the Iced Orange Honey Latte. Unfortunately, it was way too sweet for our liking -- the sweetness overpowered the entire drink, making it impossible to taste any espresso. Even when we tried to dilute it with milk and then water, the syrup flavor still dominated the drink. In the future, we'd likely ask for half sweetness in our lattes. Overall: We enjoyed Benelux's space and location in West Raleigh. Our tastes may not have lined up this time with our order, but we hope to come back again in the future for another try. read more

This place has potential, but needs some TLC. Very dirty. Person taking my order was welcoming and friendly. That part was good. There were several people in line placing orders. They don't take your name or give you a number, just call out what they are putting on the table. So after 20 minutes, I asked about my breakfast sandwich and the stated someone else must have taken it, and made me another one promptly. Sandwich was a bit smashed (see pic) but tasted good and had fresh bacon. Props for that. Place is dirty and needs a good scrubbing. Almost didn't walk in when I saw all the smudges and dirt and old scotch tape on the windows. Inside is worse. Tables were smudged. Looked like they had weeks of coffee drips and spills. Couches had who-knows-what on them- ew. Leather chairs were so warm through they need to be in the trash. Not 'cool vibe' worn. 'Found at the side of the road' worn. You could tell they didn't paint the walls before the moved in- multiple spots where things were painted around and later removed. There was a cool logo wall, so that was neat. read more

Benelux was a cool little cafe! It was super spacious with plenty of seating and work space. The barista who took our order was super cool and helpful and gave me, my friend, and my boyfriend some solid recommendations! We all loved our drinks. We also each got strawberry pancakes and they were delicious! I do have to make a note on how expensive it was. For three drinks, three strawberry waffles, and tip, it ended up being around $50 which was a bit shocking given the small portion of food. We were still pretty hungry after our visit and had to find other food shortly after. Apart from that last note, the service was still amazing. I would come back for the coffee and other specialty drinks, but I probably won't be ordering food from Benelux anymore. read more

Parking can be tricky, but it's not too bad overall. This corner is very congested with trendy businesses. We arrived on a lazy Wednesday afternoon to a very somber and quiet room that was much older and more worn than its years. It seemed out of place for the area. There were three patrons sitting and one at the counter, with one barista working. My husband and I approached the counter and he ordered first and paid. The barista made his order without taking mine. I stayed at the counter. While waiting, her phone rang and she answered it. She stopped working, went to the rear of the store, and stood looking at me and the room while talking on the phone. The call lasted approximately two minutes. She returned, finished his coffee order, and finally asked for my order. She did admit that she had to take an "important personal phone call," but it was just awkward all the way around. I ordered a latte with cinnamon powder and specifically asked her not to use the cinnamon syrup. My order took a while, as a new customer arrived and proceeded to chat her up. As you can probably guess, the service was slow and my latte was made with the syrup! The coffee mural on the wall was nice, though. read more

The waffles here would make Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec proud. Simply put, the waffles here are absolutely delightful. Think big fluffy Belgian waffle, topped with fresh, sweet strawberries, and topped with a heavy dose of heavenly whipped cream. Of course, if you had other toppings in mind they also offer bananas, nutella and the like. The waffle is a generous serving. I almost thought I wouldn't be able to eat it in once sitting, but it was so good I happily finished it. In terms of price, it was reasonable at a cool $8. Benelux also offers other baked goods, quiche, and plenty of coffee items. My friends enjoyed the lattes and mochas here! In short, Bring your friends and family and enjoy some delicious waffles over some good conversation in a cozy space. This was the best espresso I had while in Raleigh. This coffee shop is located right by NC State University, close to downtown, and across the street from Tupelo Honey and the Post Office. There is no direct parking lot beside or behind the cafe. I was in and out so I just parked at McDonalds next door with no issues. I'm all about good espresso, oat milk, and aesthetic when it comes to local coffee shops. Benelux had incredibly rich espresso with caffeine like I've never experienced before. It was creamy and strong with no burnt or fruitful flavorings. They also has oat milk which blended perfectly when splashed over a double shot on ice. I only drank half before I was bouncing off the walls but the other half preserved well in my hydro flask for the morning after. The atmosphere here was comfortable and very modern, basic coffee shop style. It didn't have an extremely clean or trendy look to it but it was comfortable, spacious, and get's the job done if you're just coming in to plug in and focus for a couple hours over really dank espresso drinks. I've read great things about the sweet waffles they serve in the morning's here and would love to try those my next time around. Overall I would definitely recommend an iced oat milk latte on the go when you have a million things to do in a day and need that extra pick me up. Would definitely come back but not for environment, more for location and coffee. read more

I love this place and was really excited to go get a waffle last weekend, only to drive to Raleigh and they had a sign saying they closed early. Then I tried again today and they closed early and stopped making waffles at 1. I know they are really understaffed but I really wish management would update the hours somewhere online or at least have a working phone. Really hope the owners/mgmt figure this out both for the sake of the customers AND employees. When they resolve this issue, I will happily give 5 stars bc the waffles are awesome and people working there are great as well and doing their best!! read more

This is a great coffee spot to come relax, study or eat some yummy waffles! There's great coffee here, and the waffles are made fresh. I'd avoid any of the food that's not the waffles, as it's from an outside location and tends to be a couple days old by the time you bite into it. Be warned that it's not quiet, and there's usually music blasting. So if you need a quiet space to get work done, the library's a much better bet. read more

I've been to Benelux a few times to work and meet with students from NCSU. It has quite a lot of seating options and even a few tables outside if you choose to bring your furry friend. My absolute favorite part of the cafe is the coffee wall. I can't even imagine how many hours it took to create such a unique feature, and it makes the space. I have tried some of their seasonal coffee flavors but I usually just stick to an iced Americano. I love the flavor of the coffee so there's no syrup needed really. I also finally got to try one of their waffles - SO fluffy on the inside and crispy perfection on the outside. I like that they even dust it with a touch of powdered sugar for a little more sweetness. You even get real silverware which is a nice touch. This will continue to be one of my go-to places for working remote - great coffee, location and music! read more

I came here because I got a coupon for a bagel sandwich and a drip coffee. I was pretty disappointed in the sandwich and otherwise not super excited about the overall experience. The first minor thing is that they don't have a cafe menu anywhere on their website, though they have a pretty built-out site. This isn't a deal breaker and isn't the reason for the 2 star review, but it is something I hope they remedy. I got a bagel sandwich with egg and bacon. Other options for "meat" were turkey or tomato. I didn't want cheese but you can get it if you want. They have plain, everything, or cinnamon raisin bagels. You can also get cream cheese or biscoff if you want that instead of a savory sandwich. The bagel took a little while since a big order came in before me so I just stood by and waited. It's nice because you can see them making the waffles and everything. Unfortunately seeing them make the bagel wasn't my favorite... Costco pre-cooked bacon microwaved + a toasted Costco bagel + egg square from a Tupperware. I didn't expect it to be made from scratch, but this didn't really make me excited to eat it... Still, I tried to keep an open mind. Sadly, the sandwich ended up being disappointing. The bacon was suuuuper fatty so I ended up having to remove some of it. The egg square had black dots on each side...I assume poppy seeds? I hope? Still, whatever that is, it would have been nice to have it mentioned on the menu. It was a little alarming at first. The coffee was fine, standard stuff. Overall I wasn't thrilled with the experience and probably won't return. read more

Finished a class at the Y and popped in to take a moment with my favorite girl (my daughter) and enjoy a coffee. I could see chilling here for a bit, but we only stayed about 15 minutes. They had some posters for local events which I liked. The coffee was good, and the Peppermint Mocha was really good, smooth, not too sweet. Staff were friendly and low key which was nice because in December there is a lot of high key lol. Parking is easy in a free garage you enter just past So*Ca. I haven't been to a waffle (really 'wafel') shop this good in the area! This place is cute - has very hipster and modern vibes. I think what really stood out to me was the ability to customize your waffle. I couldn't really pick between nutella or biscoff for my waffle so I chose half-half! They stay true to the Belgian waffle here with a nice crispy outer waffle that's soft inside. The bananas and strawberries I got on mine were really fresh, too! They have some unique waffles I'm excited to try in the future like the Dutchman which is a potato waffle with apple sauce. There's a moderate amount of space here - some couch type seating, some regular tables, and some high tables. They also do seasonal specials. I didn't get to try the Pumpkin Spice latte or the peaches and cream wafel, but will be back for then this Fall! read more

Once you figure out the parking situation this place is awesome! Either find your way to the underground parking lot or turn up the first street on the left. After seeing all the tasty waffle pictures on Yelp, I knew I would not be leaving without sampling a waffle. Yum! The waffle was delicious, I love the plethora of toppings you have to chose from. From savory to sweet, you can really make your waffle whatever you want it to be. I went with the classic banana and nutella combo. I went in on a weekday morning and service was super friendly and efficient. The drink menu is what you expect to see at your standard coffee shop. I appreciate that they ask you if it is for here or to go so you can drink your coffee out of their mugs instead of a paper cup. I also learned that the whole place is pup friendly!
