Stopped by before heading back home, and we're so glad we did. Ordered the uji matcha boba milk tea and was pleasantly surprised with the matcha taste and quality. Most matcha drinks at other boba shops aren't as good so I'm happy I decided to give this drink a try. The boba is perfectly warm and chewy. I did get the sweetness level at 75% - which was perfect, because the brown sugar boba made the drink sweeter. It is $1 more for a large, which I thought was kinda high, but the average boba drink is $7 anyways. The store is really cute inside - with a pink wishing tree. This place is our new favorite boba spot! They have the mango pomelo sago as well as strawberry mango which we loved. The drinks weren't too sweet and had the perfect amount of mango to coconut ratio which we loved. We also loved their milk teas and uji green tea. The sparkling passion fruit was super refreshing as well. The store was very nice and clean with a lot of seating. 1- The add on the screen (see the attached photo) said that you get your first drink for free when you download the app. But they charged me anyways and said the add is wrong! 2- When I ordered my drink the lady asked how much ice I prefer my drink to have. I asked: "is this drink blended, like a smoothie, or it's iced, with ice cubes?" She answered that is not iced. Then I responded that whatever amount is needed to keep it like a smoothie is fine and that I don't want to change the texture. Cute shop and nice staff, but boy, is their menu confusing! We ordered a drink per the menu on the window and on the standing sign outside the door. There were 2 drinks that looked different but had the same drink name! That caused one drink to be made wrong, but good thing they were happy to correct the issue. I was pretty disappointed by this menu error. They should fix it. Be careful when ordering whatever is labeled "Avocado Mango Crema Slush" Double-check it on the menu image! I got the drink I I wanted after the correction, but the staff knows the menu isn't correct. They really should fix the signs because new customers can get frustrated when getting drinks that don't look like what we expect it to look. It's the right thing to do. Outside of that, the store itself is quite nice. Pretty decently maintained. Cute decor, but you can tell on the furniture and tables that they've been showing wear and tear for a shop that fairly new. Very busy place. My current favorite boba place. The boba here is always good, and if it isn't, it's a 2 in 10 chance of that happening. The drinks are balanced as well. I'm never disappointed. I've tried a good amount of their top drinks and have liked them all. I do like the brown sugar milk tea boba and recently the uji matcha boba. Service is efficient and quick. The cafe itself is decent. Most people pick up and go, but a few people sit down and sip. I haven't seen people study here much though. read more

I tried the Da Hong Pao Cloud Milk Tea (a bit watery and lacking flavor) and the Peach Oolong Milk Tea. I got free drinks with my Yelp review. The Burnt Caramel Milk Tea and Osmanthus Milk Tea were decent. The staff even included rice, even though I declined, which I didn't enjoy much. Compared to other fan favs like Omomo, Orobae, Cha for Tea, Yifang, Meet Fresh, and Soma Tea, BenGong is on a similar level in terms of quality, boba texture, and what stood out to me is that the flavor of brown sugar is more prominent in BenGong's boba. I've only tried the Jasmine milk tea boba, but they have a huge assortment of specialty drinks that are way more creative in terms of flavor combos and ingredients than other boba shops. I'm looking forward to coming back to try more adventurous drinks, but for this visit I just wanted to try a staple. The tea flavor was not super strong, but has a light fragrance to it, and the "milk" component was creamy and delicious. Service was great - I explained that I was looking for something more basic and not sweet, and the server walked me through a couple simple questions about my preference before settling on a Jasmine milk tea boba. I ordered a large special milk tea with 50% sweet and less ice. The drink itself was more milky than tea flavored. I usually don't like too much boba, and I think they put the perfect amount here. The boba was smaller than I prefer, but it was still chewy. There are many drinks on the menu that I'm interested to try, so I would definitely come back. TIP: This is not the best place to study. But if I get 2 drinks that's not worth the same but they wont comply. Why advertise something the store refuses to comply with? Their trainees were nice and tried to oblige but the manager made zero attempts to do so. Surely there is a way to comply in the system. Additionally, the tea was very watered down and lacking a bit of flavor. My second drink was supposed to be no caffeine for my young children and upon finishing and examination of the cup before tossing, I noticed they gave us the incorrect drink. My 7 & 8 year olds potentially drank a ton of unwanted caffeine. (The order was a strawberry mango bloom with water, not tea.) read more

We came here on a Sunday evening and there was plenty of parking, the place wasn't crowded and the drink came within 5-10 minutes. We ordered: - Pistachio Cloud Milk Tea with boba ($7.98, large) we got this drink because we typically don't see pistachio flavored drinks, but this was such a disappointment. There was no pistachio flavor at all and it just felt like they added food coloring to the milk tea to make it green. The drink was also room temperature as well, I don't think they included any ice in the drink as it wasn't cold at all. Drink was not sweet either. We also asked one of the workers how many ounces the large cup was but she stated she didn't know. It was 70 cents extra to do large and we got it anyways because we thought the drink would be good. I really wasn't a fan of Bengong's Tea. The two drinks I ordered were just okay. The Black Rice Taro Milk Tea ($5.25) was bland. There wasn't much of any taro or tea flavor. The Mango Pomelo Sago ($6.75) was more flavorful, but they mixed in too many things in it, and it had a very prominent coconut taste... it just wasn't very good. I much prefer the one from Yifang. Th drinks from Bengong's seem a bit overpriced for the size, and it just doesn't suit my tastes. The person who took my order was unfriendly and couldn't be bothered by my questions about the drinks. 5/5 boba experience! If I heard correctly, this is a chain from Asia and they serve authentic (?) tea drinks. My friend and I ordered the peach oolong barley tea hot and WOW it warms you right up on a cold winter night. There are lil barley bits at the bottom which add even more depth to the flavor :-) The shop itself looks like a fancy high tea cafe, complete with plush seats and ornate decor. Bengong tea is a chinese chain that opened up between Tustin and Irvine. They have an extensive menu and a very cute store interior. Their store revolves around a wish tree and every customer can write their own and hang it up! My favorite drinks were the golden sesasme slushie and peach oolong boba. This was the best sesame drink I've had at a boba store, super rich, creamy, and strong but natural smell/taste. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was their crystal boba because it wasn't what I was expecting. The little store is cute, but it's echoey and the drink menu is uninteresting and uninspiring once you start reading it, compared to the professional, photoshopped images they show. ---The Peach Oolong Milk Tea has way too much milk, not enough tea, and is overly sweet compared to other tea places in OC (except Omomo) The wait is long, and the place is too noisy because of the echoing. I actually love this tea place so much, the quality of the tea is really good. It has one of my favorite oolong milk teas. But the last two times I went, they've made my drink wrong. The first time they got it wrong there were a lot of people there so were no hard feelings but the sugar level was definitely wrong. It was a Saturday night, and there were 4 people in front of me, and my drink took about 20 min to make. The people who ordered after me got their drinks before me. Which confused me a little but it's ok. They apologized for the wait too. Today I went again and it was basically empty inside cause it's Monday at 3 pm. I got the DaHongPao cloud milk tea and a mango mochi frost. The mango mochi frost is all good but there is no sugar in my milk tea, even though I always get 75% sweet.
