Drink was okay, boba was a bit hard and the drink was messy looking. My main issue was the customer service experience. I was greeted by 3 seemingly high schoolers chatting and standing in a line at the register. When I ordered I was met with 3 blank stares before one of the girls began to rang me in. Unfortunately they were entirely unhelpful during the ordering process and when I asked if one of the drinks was very sweet she responded, "umm.. I guess". What a disappointment. I came here purely for their mango pomelo sago drink and after a long wait (which included an epic fail trying to order on their self-order screen which ended up requiring a manual order), we received a very bland concoction. Oh I tried sip after sip, stir after stir, poking the straw around in different spots, and still only got at most a 3 out of 10 of what I expected it to taste like. Will continue my search elsewhere. Only reason for not giving it a 1 was I also ordered (don't judge me for double fisting lol) a Winter Frost I think it was called, a seasonal (duh lol) drink which had some sort of red berry--sorry I forgot, it's been a month hah. It lived up to its name and was unique and the right level of sweet, not bland. The tree with Chinese New Year's wishes hanging from it was a beautiful decor. It was entertaining reading some (ok, more than some) of the wishes while we waited. Great vibes but drinks were average. I tried the Mango Pomelo Sago and thought it was a bit underwhelming compared to other mango drinks I've tried like Auntea Jennys. Sizes aren't that big either for the price. It's a decent place to chill with friends and located with other stores - not bad to walk around. read more

Not bad. A huge selection, so hard to decide since a lot of drinks looked good. Staff was patient. Our party of 4 was satisfied with our drinks. Beware: the strawberry peach sparkling tea was very sweet (like OG tea places' 100% sweet). I liked my peach oolong milk tea with cream top. It was truly cream--whipped cream. And my favorite part was some ?barley inside. The pecans were a nice touch, but also tasted like they could've been fresher. My friend liked his hot peach oolong milk tea, which surprisingly also had barley at the bottom. My other friend and my bf liked their strawberry peach sparkling tea. They said it was like a sweet mocktail. One out of two of them found it to be too sweet (the other one likes soda and would probably drink it every hot day if it were good for you). The decor is cute and clean. Some large families came in on a temperate March Sunday mid-afternoon, so it got a bit busy. Overall average and the barley in peach oolong MT was a delightful touch. I got a grape cheese slush and a passion fruit sparkling tea. Both drinks were delicious. The only thing that I wasn't a big fan of was with large drinks with the dome lid the straws are too short and barely stick out of the cup making it a bit hard to mix the drinks. I wasn't able to mix the grape cheese slush and ended up drinking just the cheese at the end which wasn't bad but I would've preferred if it was mixed together. There is a kiosk that you can order from and a screen that lets you know when your order is ready so there is minimal interaction with staff. There's lots of tables and seating indoors. There are also activities to do and card games that you can use while you hand out at the store. read more

I LOVE BenGong's Tea. I wish I could come here everyday. I tried it a few months ago for a yelp event and just keep coming back. They are 100/10 in my opinion. Drinks- 100/10. Oh my God their drinks are heaven. I looooooove the toasted brown sugar milk tea (75% sweet with regular ice). It's like heaven in a cup. The crunchy sugar on the top just makes it so delicious. Their boba is the perfect texture too. My date got the caramel cheese milk tea and it was equally as good. I want to try every drink on the menu! Service- 100/10. Every time I have come here the service has been amazing. Everyone that works here is so sweet and makes the drinks so delicious. Environment- 9/10. The decorations are sooooo cute. It's such a cute space to go with friends and grab drinks. They also play jazz which sets such a cool mood. I got the OSMANTHUS RICE MOCHI FROST. It was a creamy, blended drink with notes of floral. It had a bit of a rice wine taste to it which I enjoyed. It was also topped with crunchy bits of water chestnut boba. I also added boba for $1, but I didn't know the drink already had the water chestnuts so it was a little too much texture. I got the drink at 25% sweetness, which was perfect. The boba was warm but a little hard and I would not get that in the future. They were super busy on a weekend around lunch time and we waited about 10-15 minutes for our order. The inside was cute and there are a few tables to enjoy your tea. There is also a "wish tree" as an nice decoration. I look forward to trying their mango sago, black rice taro milk tea, other specialty drinks, as well as their milk and fruit teas in the future. The staff was very nice and there's plenty of parking next to Target. Unfortunately, the drinks tasted very artificial and like someone added essential oils. Orange Jasmine: the orange tasted very fake and you couldn't taste the Jasmine tea. Osmanthus Rice Mochi: the osmanthus had a fake floral perfume taste and the rice was like popping boba. The mochi got stuck in the straw. Da Hong Pao Tea: this tasted like a regular black tea with a weird tangy aftertaste. Walked by this place yesterday just getting some steps in. The wishing tree caught my attention in the front window and thought it was nicely decorated. Noticed this is a tea spot and decided to check it out. I ordered the coco-watermelon with brown sugar boba at 50% sweetness. The watermelon and coconut were subtle and enjoyable. The only unfortunate thing is that by the time I finished the drink it was simply shaved ice. Still every sip was pleasant. The service was good but its obvious they need another tea maker in the kitchen. The staff was completely overwhelmed and did their best, but the order tickets kept rolling in faster than the drinks could be made. We stopped by Bengong's Tea in Irvine for the first time and overall, it's a super cute spot with great photo opportunities. The interior is aesthetically pleasing and definitely a fun place to grab drinks. We ordered some of their most popular menu items: the Osmanthus Rice Milk Tea with boba, Osmanthus Rice, Mango Strawberry Boom, and Mango Pomelo Sago. The Osmanthus Rice Milk Tea wasn't my favorite--it had a noticeable rice wine / wine-like flavor , which may appeal to some but wasn't for me. The Mango Strawberry Boom had good flavor, but unfortunately it wasn't blended all the way, so there were chunks of ice throughout the drink, which took away from the experience. On the other hand, the Mango Pomelo Sago was really well blended and delicious--smooth texture and spot-on flavor. If the Mango Strawberry Boom had been blended properly, it would've easily been a tie between the two. One nice touch was the free little gift they were offering when you spent a certain amount--I'm always a fan of small incentives like that. We did come about 15 minutes before closing, so I suspect that may have affected the quality of the blended drinks. Located at the Market Place in Irvine! I got to try: Burnt brown sugar milk (5/5) - one of the better brown sugar milk drinks I've had. The burn brown sugar on top creates a toasty flavor that goes well with this decadent drink. I also enjoyed their fresh boba. Osmanthus cloud milk (3/5) - got 75% sweet, and it was still on the sweet side. There is a slight floral flavor but it's a little overwhelmed with milk, overpowering the osmanthus tea. There's seating inside with games to play with while you enjoy your drinks. Also convenient kiosk order. Service was pretty slow, but that just shows that their drinks are popular. read more

We had a chance to finally check out BenGong's Tea in Irvine. I had heard about their drinks and the interior decor. At first when I realized where they were located, I was stressing about parking and almost didn't make the drive up the 5 north because I didn't want to deal with traffic and finding a place to park. Luckily for me, I headed over before the heavy traffic hit and found that they were on the back side of where I originally thought they were. That was a win. I quickly found parking right in front of their suite. Walking up to their front door, you can see the tree that everyone has been posting about. I guess it's a wishing tree? I really enjoyed looking at it and reading some of what people had to say. The space is nice, cool and bright. The color scheme is very pretty and well put together. They have several tables with comfy padded chairs to sit in and chill with friends. There was maybe about four people waiting for their order. I was immediately greeted by one of their friendly staff members. I had read a couple reviews that mentioned the lack of customer service, but I didn't experience that during my visit at all. I had a pleasant interaction as I was ordering. At BenGong's, you have the option to order with someone or their electronic menu off to the side which also takes ApplePay. Looking through the menu, they have many different types of drinks here such as milk teas, cheese slush, sago, teas with fresh fruits, lattes, tea lattes and regular teas, with different toppings available as well. I just wish they had grass jelly which seemed to not be something they offer. I've had a couple of their milk teas and loved them. The next time I come back though, I am going to try their pistachio cloud latte, and their strawberry mango bloom. Obviously going to try their other drinks, but those are my next order for sure. I'm gonna have to plan it out so we can grab desserts after a meal or in between the lunch and dinner rush. I can't wait to visit again very soon. read more

This boba tea shop is very beautifully decorated with a big tree made out of wishes that customers wrote. Their packaging is beautiful and has a Chinese feel to it. There were many different flavor options and I went for the bogo sesame drink special they had that day. Both drinks were delicious and the sesame drinks were very flavorful without being overly sweet. The wait is a bit long, I think it took about 25 min to get our drink and the store was packed. The black sesame tea was amazing and had a deep rich sesame taste that I enjoyed. There was a really nice drink selection! I ordered the Creamy Lychee Latte. It had the perfect sweetness that I was looking for and it was my first time trying a lychee flavored milk tea. They even had little pieces of fresh lychee in the drink! My mom got the Super Mango Bloom which was very refreshing; a good classic mango smoothie/slush. Love the wishing tree here, although I still wish we were able to add our own (we saw markers but no more blank wishing cards). The store was a bit crowded since there is only one kiosk and one menu right next to it, which was difficult to view until you walked up. The one kiosk was also next to the cashier making it confusing where to order so sometimes it was just one long line rather than 2 efficient ones. Wish they used their screens overhead to feature the menu to help people make a decision before reaching the kiosk to save time and help with the traffic flow (the TVs just showed a Loyalty Bonus and the picture of a featured drink). Decided to try out another boba chain from China that just opened in Tustin Plaza. There was a ton of parking in this plaza and located right across the Market Place. The interior was similar to a lot of other boba chains from China. We ordered the Orange Jasmine tea and the Da Hong Pao milk tea. The cups have a really pretty designs. However, in terms of taste, it's not my favorite tea shop that's I've tried. The drinks lacked the tea flavor I was looking for. Service here is terrible, three young ladies behind the counter, all on their cell phones, we stood without ever being greeted and when we said "excuse me" to try to get their attention, either they couldn't hear us over their music or were to focused on their phones. The setup is to use a screen and order yourself without any interaction with the staff and when we asked about a drink on the menu and finally got someone's attention, they said they didn't know if it was still available....long pause...."does anyone who works here know?" We haven't even received our drinks yet, doesn't really matter I guess if they're any good or not, these ladies get an auto 15% tip unless you select otherwise and you have to give them your phone number to submit your order. Stopped by Ben Gong's Tea in Irvine to check out some of their drinks and left feeling a bit mixed. The space is a typical modern marble-slab style renovated tea shop, but it's starting to feel a bit worn down. Even small details, like the HVAC return grille covered in black dust, made the place feel less maintained than it should be. On the bright side, the bookmark tag you can write on and hang from their man-made tree is a cool and unique touch to the atmosphere. Service was typical as well - no interaction required since we can order on the kiosk but they were quick to make the drinks as there was no queue to any drinks ahead of us. What we tried: * Brown Sugar Boba Milk - Flavor-wise, this one hit the right notes, but unfortunately the bobas weren't fresh. They had that slightly harder texture that takes away from the drink's overall appeal. * Passion Fruit Sparkling Tea - Refreshing and visually appealing, but nothing in the flavor really stood out to give it a "wow" factor. * Golden Oolong Tea with Tea Cubes - The tea itself was nice and smooth, but the tea cubes (which are really more like jellies) were sweeter than expected, throwing off the balance of the drink. Overall, Ben Gong's offers a decent menu with some interesting concepts, but for us, the freshness and flavor balance could use more attention--and the space could use some upkeep--before it becomes a go-to spot. read more

Introduced my friend to this location since their peach milk tea is one of my FAVORITE milk teas in America, and she loved it! The peach milk tea remind me of the drinks I'd get in China with perfectly balanced fresh tea taste paired with the sweet peach flavor. The tea isn't bitter at all and the peach doesn't have an artificial flavor. It also comes with barley and agar boba which I loved! They have a very robust menu that is honestly a bit overwhelming to navigate. I tried the brown sugar milk tea at 25% sweet and it was good. Its a very tea forward flavor and the boba is soft The experience inside though was different and could use some work. The store didn't feel super clean, there was trash left on a few tables, and the chairs were stained. The worker wasn't very friendly either. She barely engaged and mumbled when I asked questions. When i thought a specific drink was mine and was looking at the name without touching it, she pulled it away without saying a word. Also the entrance is oddly blocked by this big hanging tree display that feels like it's just in the way and that you have to duck around it. OVERALL : Such a pretty store! The first thing you see even from outside is their pink cherry blossom wishing tree, which perfectly accents the cute tables and clean interior. I liked that they served your usual milk and fruit teas but also some more inventive items in case you want to try something different.
