I was really only off put with how miserable our waitress appeared (she's been there for years & I always recall her being much happier) and how I could hear her talking to another waitress about what I'm thinking is a newer waitress... the brunette one in a bun was cussing and doing so pretty loudly. I get if you're upset cause you feel a co-worker isn't pulling her weight, there is a time & a place however to discuss that amongst yourselves & I really don't want to enjoy my meal while listening to her foul mouth echo across the restaurant. The waffles are nothing special, the bacon was especially fatty. The eggs florentine Benedict was inedible. The eggs were so undercooked they were raw and the spinach completely soggy. It all soaked through to the English muffins, literally floating in a pool of salmonella liquid...you could ring them out like a beach towel. The country potatoes were edible. I have actually eaten here twice in the last week once for lunch and then today for breakfast. When I had lunch I had the club sandwich (add ham) with cross cut frys. It was as good a club sandwich you can get. Today for breakfast I had chicken fried steak and eggs. It was not the best I ever had but it was good. Large portion and good hash browns. Its been awhile since I've been here-(before Covid) and it definitely did not disappoint - It could do with some updates as far as decors. The booths seats are well worn But the food was what I came for and my stomach was very Happy!! It was lunchtime. My friend had a burger and fry's which looked amazing. He gave me a waffle fry that was huge, well cooked not dripping with oil like some places do and he loved the huge burger.I had the Santa Fe scramble with peppers- red potatoes ,avocado and sour cream with toast. When I think of Benicia, I think of the beautiful downtown area, by the waterfront, with lots of shops and restaurants to check out. Benicia Grill is not near this area. In fact, it's located near an industrial park. Location shouldn't matter too much, as long as the food and service are good, right? The service is very poor. Out of a staff of about ten people that I physically saw in the restaurant, one seemed happy to be there. We were not checked up on at all, and when you see so many scowling servers walking around, the mood can be infectious. However, the food was excellent. I ordered the Louisiana Omelet, and man was it spicy. The sausage was sooooo good, but again, so freaking spicy, and I love spicy. I had potatoes and toast on the side.The potatoes were some of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. Usually they can be under-seasoned, and bland; but these potatoes tasted like they were from Louisiana as well, and came complete with grilled onions and peppers. The omelet though. We ordered delivery from here a couple of weeks ago when we were feeling under the weather and couldn't muster the energy to make ourselves breakfast. Build your own breakfast is a couple dollars cheaper than the pancake combos despite having the same number of items, so we both built our own breakfasts. One of us got over medium eggs, sausage, pancakes, and country potatoes; the other got pancakes, hash browns, and biscuits with gravy (special instructions, no gravy just biscuits). The hash browns were exactly what you want when you went too big on Friday night. The sausage was on par for diner breakfast. Over medium eggs were more like over easy, and the country potatoes could have been seasoned more. The instruction for no gravy on the biscuits was missed and they were swimming in gravy instead. Unfortunately my partner didn't want to eat them (she hates gravy) so I tried one. They were a bit tough for my tastes and bland, not flaky and buttery like we're used to. The worst of it was the pancakes. As soon as I opened the door to get the delivery, I smelled the vanilla. When we opened one of the containers, the entire house smelled like vanilla. It continued to smell like it for hours afterward. They put the CAKE in pancake. If you love yellow cake, these pancakes spot on tasted like a box of yellow cake with the texture of a pancake. She ate hers out of sheer need; I couldn't eat them. We're going to give them another try, perhaps in person, but we will definitely not be ordering the biscuits or pancakes again. read more

I had to come check out this biz after I found out that Mr. Shavar was managing it. I've been his customer over at the Buttercup for years and was excited to find out what his new place was like. I had been at this location in it's previous life and wasn't impressed. I went once and never came back. It was so cool to walk in and see Mr. Shavar at the helm. He was so happy to see us and thanked us for coming from across town to check out his new digs. I tried the corned beef hash breakfast (homemade hash, country potatoes, 2 eggs medium and sourdough toast). Mr. Hunnie Bunnie had the Chorizo Skillet. Both meals were well executed and the service was very good. Everyone was attentive and super friendly. I love the way Mr. Shavar walks around and "works" the room. One of those things that Ramsey from Kitchen Nightmares is always stressing. We will be back. Maybe with a small breakfast group, their banquet room was really cute. We called in a to-go order for 8 people to be picked up, for the 10am 49ers game a few weeks ago. We were quoted $160. (plus tip, she said) which seemed a bit high at $20. pp, for plain scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and hash browns. We were not told that we would be automatically charged a 20% tip of $32. With tax we paid about $205. The eggs were ok, the bacon was fatty and really overcooked, the sausage was ok, but the hash browns were barely heated and mostly raw. Thank goodness we had a fresh loaf of bread and made toast at home, since only small portions of the hash browns were edible. My shortest review - this is a sweet little restaurant with sweet waitresses. We've found the food consistently good. Because of the COVID-19 virus, the restaurant hours have sharply shortened. However, if you order for pickup, they will have your food ready on time, packed nicely and will always accommodate an order slightly off the menu. After I left the area, I didn't pursue to come back and last week, after 3 years (maybe more) I took my sister here for lunch. There is a lack of restaurants in the industrial area. I can understand why restaurants would not be built around here due to time and maintaining a clean facility for the industrials that can get quite dirty. Anyway. There are many, many, many choices on the menu. With breakfast being served all day, the decisions to be made on what to eat can be a doozy because you may want a benedict oppose to a sandwich. I ordered their Chicken Cesar Wrap. A massive burrito wrap stuffed with literally a ceasar salad. With the wrap came waffle fries. I could only eat about half of the order. However, it wasn't leftover worthy when I got home (booo). My sister had their Chicken Fried Steak with Eggs. She was very, very content with again a massive plate of food which she couldn't finish either. As for the service, not noticable by me. I was just more there for a lunch date with my sister and not focusing too much on the ambience, service, etc. It did take awile to pay, which I can say I did notice. And they do give you tiny to-go boxes, which is good-bad. Y'know save the environment but smush all of your food in one place.
