Came in for an easy and delicious meal after spending the day at Disneyland. Our server, Amaris, made us feel welcome and had a great presence--my wife told me she was tempted to poach Amaris for her own company! She even reminded us that we had a $50 voucher left over from my wife's birthday, which had completely slipped our minds. Chefsito served our steak at the perfect temp (med. rare for me, kicking and screaming for her), and was an excellent conversationalist throughout. Looking forward to our next visit. We usually come for birthday dinners. The overall food quality is good and the garlic butter is amazing, however the taste and experience is highly dependent on the chef you are assigned. I've had amazing chefs that cook everything perfectly, and I've had really bad chefs that overcook everything. It's very hard to request specific chefs so I've given up on putting it in my reservation comments. Dinner is usually very crowded and loud. Lunch is less busy with the option of 45 minute power lunch (no substitutions or promos) or the regular lunch menu where you may end up waiting longer but allows you to use with other promotional offers. The food is great but the reservations here sucks. We had reservations here for Mother's day at 5PM. When we arrived we were told they were 40-50 minutes behind schedule. We didn't have time to wait around so left and made another reservation for Father's day. We came today for Father's day and it's the same situation. We thought last time the delay was bc a teppanyaki chef had called out but now we realize this is an every day thing. For Father's day we had reservations at 430PM, sat at our table an hour later at 530PM, & started eating out appetizers at 6PM so be aware when you're booking this place. read more

In short, the place was quiet, the chef still put on a show, and the food was decent... but it didn't quite live up to the five star experience that I was used to. This Benihana is on Ball Road right off the freeway, making it pretty easy to get to. The parking lot used to be shared with an El Torito, but unfortunately that place had a fire and is still being repaired, so Benihana had the parking lot to itself. I went on a weekday for an early dinner, so the place was practically a ghost town both inside and out. I had a group of four, and only had to share my half of the table with one other group of the same size. There were children present in both parties, but everybody was well behaved and entertained by our hibachi chef, Jorge, who put on a traditional Benihana show. Despite the fact that he was not at all Japanese (and owned it) there was plenty of spatula, twirling, the famous onion volcano, a beating heart made of fried rice, and other standard tricks to entertain us as he prepared our food. I had heard about the A5 Wagyu steak and surprisingly enough. It was only $10 more than some of the other steak options so I decided to give it a try. Beforehand, of course, I was treated to a bowl of miso soup, a salad with their special ginger sauce, and some chicken fried rice. There were also mushrooms and vegetables included in the meal. I will say that my first bite of that Wagyu steak was incredible. It practically melted in my mouth. However, the more of it I ate, the more I felt like I was just chewing on fat. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare and that's exactly what I got, but I'm wondering if the fat had not completely rendered into the steak before it was chopped up. Maybe that kind of steak needs cooked a little differently. I will also add the ambience was a little bit spoiled by the chef at the table next to us, where the young hibachi chef was talking about growing in Anaheim and some of the hardships that he faced, including being victimized by crime. I'm sure that the couple at his table celebrating an anniversary was none too thrilled about it either, but I guess that's none of my business. Overall, I had a great time, but there are a few areas that would need touched up to bring it back to a five-star experience. read more

Came here for my birthday meal after a day at Disney and it was pretty disappointing. We were asked to wait in the bar for a table to open and weren't given any timeline. After 25 min, I asked if we were close to being seated and we were then taken to a table. My husband and I both ordered the spicy tofu steak hibachi. I asked if it came with fried rice since I noticed the menu said white rice. The server said it could be added on as a side for $7 extra, so we did that. "Added on as a side" insinuates it would be in addition to, however, no white rice was served. I wouldn't have paid that much extra for a swap. I requested that my shrimp appetizer be added to my husband's plate because I don't eat shellfish. But instead, they just left it out. The portion of veggies was small and only onion and zucchini. I remember it used to include mushrooms (and carrots?). The amount of food served here absolutely does not justify $33. I was pretty shocked, given Benihana is known for its hefty portions. Jasmine took great care of us all night and stayed on top of refills like a pro. Chefsito was a lot of fun too -- super entertaining and even threw in a few tricks I hadn't seen before, which made the experience feel fresh. We started with the chili ponzu yellowtail roll, then went all in with the Wagyu A5 Japan Tokyo Broil, wagyu steak fried rice, and the Deluxe Treat which is the filet and lobster. The meal definitely leaned splurge, but if you're in the mood to treat yourself before heading over to Honda Center, this is a pretty solid way to do it. Went to visit on 04/06/26. You can see the restaurant from the street, and there's plenty of parking so you don't need to worry about that at all! When you walk inside, this place is very much a vibe. It has really clean and classic interior, with rich dark colors inside. I absolutely love it! On the left is the actual grill side, the right side is more of a sushi restaurant with a sushi bar. Everyone was absolutely great! Our waitress was super sweet, she was very informative on the menu and made sure our tea was always filled! Chef Kevin was amazing! He was entertaining, and talented! Definitely would request him as a chef again! Friends and I got to try the Wagyu around the world. Holy cow, yeah, it's pricey, but yeah, it's totally worth it!!!! The meats melt into your mouth. Also with the fried rice, veggies, and shrimp. Would totally want to splurge on that again! I also got the Red Plum Sake Sangria for the drink. This was absolutely refreshing. I've been eating at Benihana's since I was a kid - that's almost 3 decades now. It shows you the staying power that Benihana beholds. And for as long as I have been eating at various Benihana locations, I've never had a bad experience. It is one of the most consistent restaurants I know regardless of location or the chef cooking your meal. They always bring great food, great service, and great entertainment. The only thing I can complain about is the cost but it is what it is - inflation has affected everything, especially when it comes to eating out. But at Benihana, you gotta remember that you are paying for more than just food, you're paying for the entire package which includes the service, the experience and the entertainment. I ate here a couple days ago and we were assigned a chef by the name of Oscar aka Chefsito. He may be young but he brings the energy and the fun, and most importantly he knows how to handle the grill like a vet. He apparently started from the bottom as a busboy when he was a teenager, then promoted to a line cook and now he's a chef. Any future parties would be lucky to get him as their cook. All in all, my friends and I were satisfied and we look forward to celebrating another occasion here. read more

After having dinner here so many times and having great, then mediocre and now awful experiences, I have to change my review. We visited on June 18 for my birthday & wedding anniversary. It has been a yearly tradition. The teppan seating normally comes with a show, but not this time. The orders were wrong. This was not a good experience at all, in addition the manager calling us "y'all" and we weren't even with the other diners. Another manager "Joe" called apologized and said let me make up for it. He sent me the same 20% coupon that they give to us and everyone else on normal visits. I am pretty sure no extra efforts were made to encourage us to visit this location ever again. How do you know the staff had a bad night? Everything was off from the start. We were seated an hour past our reservation. They were running behind tonight, and most customers had to wait outside in a chilly and windy night. At one point we overheard a staff member walking off on break literally said it was the worst night and they might not want to come back. The dining room was extremely cramped, tables packed too close together, and it felt hot and uncomfortable the entire time. Our chef was wearing a mask and seemed like he was having a rough night too, with a few light cough/sneeze moments (not over the food, to be fair). Food was very disappointing. Everything was drenched in butter to the point you couldn't taste much else. Fried rice only tasted like grease and oil with no real flavor. My lobster smelled a bit fishy and was way overcooked, dry, and drowned in butter. My son's chicken was also overcooked--super dry and hard, and all you could taste was butter and a heavy layer of sesame seeds. Shrimp appetizer came out last, which makes no sense, and even the jumbo shrimp were overcooked and soaked in butter. It honestly felt like everything being overcooked was being hidden under butter, instead of properly seasoned or cooked. At the end of the meal, there was literally a puddle of grease from all the butter sitting at the bottom of my plate. And the bathroom was disgusting. Men's restroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned all night: anti-slip mat kicked out from under the urinal and covered in urine, toilet stalls with used toilet paper everywhere and not flushed. The smell when you opened the door makes you want to gag. Overall, a perfect storm of an overwhelmed staff on a really bad night. The long waits, poor execution, and cleanliness issues resulted in a very disappointing experience. read more

That's insanely expensive for such a small ass portion of cubed Wagyu bits wtf!! They asked everyone else there what sauce they wanted and just skipped me and handed me a sauce plate and soy sauce without asking. I'm giving 2 stars for a great performance but the chef and general nostalgia but other than that the meal was below average. The lobster roll was so weird. The rice was stale and way too sour from the vinegar and there was lettuce and tomato in the lobster roll for some reasons. I was also doubting if it was even lobster because the lobster was looking a lot like langoustine. It was more imitation crab meat than anything and they had the weirdest soy paper around it which was flaking off as if it was stale and they were trying to add it to the roll. Overall just don't get this roll. It was atrocious. The American ribeye cut was also very small for 69 dollars and it wasn't even a good cut with a huge piece of fat right in the middle. There was not marbling or anything. It also wasn't just my cut that was small other peoples's cuts were tiny People also only come here for their birthdays the meal came with 3 tiny pieces of sad frozen shrimp. I will say that the chicken fried rice was pretty good and with all that garlic butter they put on everything it better be. For value this really isn't the place to go but I assume a lot of people come for their birthdays because you get like 30 dollars off which makes the meal a lot more worth it. Idk where there's one anymore but glad our local one is still around. The food is enjoyable. The proteins and vegetables are fresh when cooked. The taste can be a bit on the plain side but why they offer dipping sauce. Which is yummy. I've only had great service and food each time I've come here. Usually more for a bday celebration since it can be pretty pricey. Love the interactive show, our chef Lynette was really social and kept entertaining our family. Enjoyed it a lot. The restaurant is like a Japanese hut and inside decor. Not too far from Disneyland in the corner of Ball Blvd & State College. It's own building. TIP definitely sign up for their Benihana's subscription emails and if you indicate your birthdates, you'll receive a coupon emailed to you the month of your bday for a $ 30 meal credit. Kids bday enjoys a treat too when you put their email address. Birthday celebrations they take a photo of the bday celebrate and prints it out to put in a memoir greeting card like for you to take home along with an ice cream of your choice and a candle to sing happy birthday with your group and associates. I've been to this Benihana location several times in the Teppanyaki area and the most recent visit was for their happy hour in their bar area. Happy hour was great, good service, and nice seating area. Of course you can order anything off the regular menu as well. Food was really good and for some of my friends it was their first experience at a Benihana and they were impressed too. Some food came out late because I guess they have to wait till one of the Teppanyaki tables are preparing that dish to bring it to the other areas of the restaurant? This was our first time visiting this location. Since el torito has closed, there was plenty of parking. This is one of their older looking locations so it has multiple small sitting areas vs the big open spaces. I felt like this felt more cozy and I liked it. They also have areas for larger parties. My bf and I were the only ones not from the party on our table that were together with the table right next to us which is why both chefs were going at the same time. We were promptly greeted as we walked in and sat really quick. We joined their new rewards program on our last Benihana visit and it was great to get the $50 coupon for my birthday that you can use any day of the week! I got the chateaubriand and my boyfriend went for the ribeye Wagyu. Our chef was great! He was super entertaining, funny and the food was delicious! This has been one of our best experiences at a Benihana and would highly recommend to anyone! The onion soup is always a nice starter with the refreshing salad. We order from Benihana almost every Monday, so we're pretty familiar with the menu and usually have a good experience. That's why this visit was a little disappointing. We ordered two shrimp hibachi burritos, which are both supposed to come with teriyaki sauce, but it wasn't included in the bag. My husband even tried to double check before leaving and was told everything was in there, so he trusted it and left. Unfortunately, when he got home, both sauces were missing. This has actually happened before too, where we were told teriyaki sauce costs extra with certain items, which made this situation even more confusing. We love their teriyaki sauce and were really looking forward to it, the meal just didn't taste the same without it. Luckily we had some at home, but it still wasn't the same. It's frustrating not to receive something that should come with the meals, especially after trying to confirm at pickup. Just a reminder to double check orders more carefully. First of all I want to start by saying our server was lovely and sweet and very accommodating! This is about the actual restaurant. We ate on the opposite side of the teppanyaki grills. It was our first time in doing so and I ordered the yakisoba noodles with chicken dinner and it wasn't even worth $5 let alone the $38 that it cost. I literally felt like I was eating leftovers from 3 days ago, it was not fresh and before I even left the restaurant my stomach was gurgly and I had to for lack of a better word. Word go straight to the bathroom. My stomach has been messed up still the next day. I will never eat here again. It was the most disgusting food. We've been there for teppanyaki and it's been very good so I don't know what happened on the other side but my goodness it was awful. I actually would like to call the health department. I came in for lunch expecting the full dinner experience because I ordered a dinner portion. After placing my order, I was seated at a table designated for the "Power Lunch" service. I later learned that the Power Lunch is a fast 45-minute experience where much of the food, including the fried rice, is prepared in the kitchen rather than cooked entirely at the hibachi table. I immediately told the waiter that I was not interested in the Power Lunch service. I specifically wanted the full dinner experience, with the chicken, rice, and other items cooked in front of me at the hibachi grill. Part of the reason I ordered the dinner portion was to enjoy the show and receive a freshly prepared, hot meal. The waiter was very accommodating and moved me to another table. However, shortly afterward, the chef came out and moved me back to the Power Lunch table. I repeatedly asked the chef if my meal would be cooked in front of me, and he repeatedly assured me that it would. As I waited, I realized that wasn't actually happening. The chef only cooked some of the meat and vegetables at the table, while the fried rice came from the kitchen. To make matters worse, the chicken that was brought out appeared undercooked. At that point, I asked to speak with the manager. I explained that I wanted the full hibachi experience and that I had paid for a dinner portion, not a rushed Power Lunch service. If a customer is paying for a full five-course meal, they should be able to watch their entire meal being prepared in front of them as expected. The manager was kind, professional, and understanding. She moved me to another table and tried to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, by then the experience had already been disappointing. The confusion, the repeated assurances that were not honored, and the back-and-forth seating arrangements left me frustrated and significantly diminished my overall dining experience. We came to Benihana tonight to celebrate my son's 9th birthday, and unfortunately this was one of the worst experiences we've had at any Benihana location. First, I want to give credit where it's due--our waitress Jasmine was great. She was attentive, friendly, and honestly the only reason we stayed as long as we did and left a tip. The issue was with the chef, Michael. Our reservation was at 6:30pm, but cooking didn't even start until around 7:15pm. When he finally got started, it felt like he was completely checked out. He mentioned he had been there since lunch, which I understand is a long shift--but this is a service job, and every customer should be treated like they're the first of the day. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. He forgot items (no corn for my son's meal, no mushrooms with the vegetables), and overcooked both my wife's and my son's steak. The cooking felt rushed and incomplete. What made it more disappointing is that we could clearly see other tables having the experience Benihana is known for--chefs being loud, engaging, and putting on a full performance. Our table was the complete opposite. Aside from a quick, lackluster heart, there was no real interaction or energy. For a place known for its experience, this felt like we got the bare minimum. If this had been someone's first time at Benihana, I doubt they would come back. Really disappointing, especially for a 9-year-old's birthday celebration. I have contacted benihana customer satisfaction but did not receive a follow up. I will now leave a review here so that they may be aware. I came here on 9/11/2025 with a party of 7 for my dad's birthday, and the service was unacceptable. When we arrived, 6 of us were present. The hostess and manager refused to seat us, which we understood, but the manager was rude and pushy. We were waiting quietly by the hostess stand, and even after we politely declined moving to the bar, the manager insisted and gave us no choice. It came across as disrespectful and unprofessional. I had also dropped off a cake earlier to be brought out at the end of the meal. The hostess gave me a slip for the server, which I handed over. The server acknowledged it, but the cake was completely forgotten, they brought out ice cream instead... When I asked about it, both the hostess and server seemed confused, and the server didn't even know there was a cake. This was incredibly upsetting on a night that was supposed to be special for my dad. To make things worse, a family friend had prepaid for a drink and dessert for my dad. I confirmed with the manager before dinner, and he said it would be taken care of. The drink didn't come until after the meal was over, and the dessert only came after I followed up again. Overall, the night was filled with miscommunication, forgotten details, and a lack of professionalism from the staff. What should have been a happy celebration turned into a stressful and frustrating experience.
