This was my first time going to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Anaheim. It has been an annual tradition of my friend and I (since college) to celebrate each other's birthday with a free meal. We started the tradition back when Denny's was giving free birthday meals, which later evolved to free Grand Slams, to free "mini" Slam breakfasts. The last couple years we switched to the BOGO from Hof's Hut. I convinced him to get a Landry's Select Club card and he chose to use his free $25 meal at Bubba Gump for his 68th birthday. My friend wanted to beat the crowd so we met for lunch at 11:30am. Our server Evie was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere was nice with all of the movie themed decor one would expect. The background music was a little loud but not so loud that we couldn't have a good conversation. He had the Captain's Fish & Chips and I had the Shrimp Po Boy sandwich. We both enjoyed what we got. My sandwich was tasty but I wish there were a couple more shrimp in there. There was a "surprise" at the end of our meal. The staff came out, sang a special birthday cheer song, and gave my friend an ice cream sandwich cut in half with birthday sprinkles. First time trying Bubba Gump and I thought it was pretty solid. We got appetizers: Bang Bang Shrimp, Onion Rings, and Ceviche. Honestly I had no idea the bang bang shrimp was going to be fried so that was a nice surprise. The flavors of the ceviche was good. Onion rings were nice and crisp. Not sure what the point of a reservation is if we're not seated at our reservation time. We made a reservation for 4 on OpenTable for 7:15pm. We arrived a bit early and checked in with the hostess to let her know we were here. We weren't seated until 10 minutes after our reservation time, and they even called a different party of 4 before us. I've never seen Forrest Gump, but there's a lot of references to the movie as well as a gift shop. The inside of the restaurant is well themed and immersive. The service itself was fine although our server took a while in the beginning to greet up and get us water. We got the calamari to start, and it was bland. I had the coconut shrimp as my entree and subbed my fries for onion rings for an extra $2. I wouldn't recommend the onion rings as the insides were doughy and undercooked. The shrimp themselves were fine. The meal was surprisingly filling. One thing I liked was that the cocktails were relatively affordable. I had the Blue Hawaiian, which was alright. I thought the cup it was served in was a little funny looking, but it turns out that it was actually the bottom part of a cobbler shaker that I got to take home. That was a nice surprise. I will note that the lid does tend to get stuck a bit though. Although I wouldn't come back to Bubba Gump, I am now curious about Forrest Gump the movie and will give it a watch eventually. read more

We felt like seafood and comfort food today so we dropped by Bubba Gump's by Disneyland. Food was delicious, as expected. We started off with a cup of clam chowder (I've had better but still good) and then shrimp ceviche & chips. The ceviche was pretty tasty and plentiful. Hubby had the fried chicken and I had the grilled salmon and shrimp with their butter sauce. I also asked for a side of their yummy bourbon sauce, delish! Our server was Laura and she was always helpful and super friendly. Please clone her, we just loved observing her with all customers and she was great! I've eaten at Bubba Gump shrimp co. A couple of times before but in a different state. The food is always great and so is the service, and here was no exception. But here our waiter was faster than any waiter we have had before. He came by for drink orders and my wife wasn't ready so he went to bring my diet coke and wanted he will be back faster than you think and he was back in seconds, so my wife still wasn't ready, so he said he would go get water to give her some time. Well that only took seconds, so she still didn't know but then he helped her choose. During our meal he noticed my diet coke was getting low so he might a refill just before I needed it. He was always available for anything we needed. Bubba Gump is a chain so you generally know what to expect, but the service here was exceptional. It's so hard to write this review because for many years bubba gumps was such a treat and we would drive over an hour each way to come here . It's been a few years since we have visited because we moved away . We were so excited to finally get back here just to he completely disappointed. The service was the only good part of the visit so I appreciate that . We got the appetizer shrimp to start , omg it was so chewy and rubbery , I was like uh oh I hope this is just a fluke . I ordered my usual which is the hush pups and they came like warm at best .. Next is my daughter's meal, mamas blue fried shrimp . She was eating just the fries and I'm like what's wrong , I don't think she wanted to tell me how gross they were so I took one to try . YUCK!!! Overcooked and tasted old , the fries were good but that was it ! What in the heck happened to bubba gumps, because I'm so sad the quality is just garbage . I will never be back , and even writing that in this review makes me so sad . So many years of good memories and good food just ruined . Waiter was great. Atomosphere was positive and fun. Food was mediocre at best. It was food quality that you could find anywhere. The fried chicken salad was little bits of dry fried chicken. It look liked there was a chicken rationing going on. I would have been embarrassed to serve it. The clam chouder was lacking flavor and needed help. Luckily there was some Lousiana Hot sauce on the table. Even the Arnold Palmer was just so-so. I looked across the table at our friends plate of Calimari. Our servers Cody and Lily were the best and were totally cute in explaining the blue "run" and red "stop" license-plate style signs to get their attention. Bubba Gump is really a blast into the past if you remember / watched the 1994 movie. We were a bit far, but was able to hear their "trivia session" in the main dining area. (I think the prize to answer right were branded cup cozy things) The cajun spices can be doubled in spice/heat, but overall the crab and shrimp boil has a nice mix of things. Would definitely recommend "family style" and getting another entre to share. The boil comes with bibs and crab shell cracker tool and mini fork. Many thanks for a delicious meal to celebrate my husband's birthday dinner. Bobby Lee, his Manager, and the Bubba Gump team were attentive, welcoming, and friendly. Bobby told us hilarious jokes throughout the hour we were dining there, and also prepped a list of attractions for guests that are out of town. We didn't need it, but it was really nice that he goes out of his way to do that for his guests. Their rib-eye steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and seasoned perfectly. Our family came here to celebrate a birthday and our server was friendly, attentive, personable, and she made sure we had the best experience possible. Our overall experience with Evie was amazing, and she made sure to take care of us like we were her family. Last night, we had a reservation for group of 20 people at Bubba's. Our server was David, he provided a fun environment for our big group. He took the order of our drinks first, and then our order of food. That gave our group of people time to decide on what to order. David also came out with some movie trivia questions and provided prizes for correct answers. It was a great choice to have all of us go to Bubba's as the customer service was great. Our server, David was amazing. He did everything we expected and had great service. The only low rating is because the food at the cost was just sub par. To be honest, the competition is so fierce out here you're charging me $40-$30 per plate. I could tell it's been held in the window so everything's lukewarm by the time it hits, based on the foot, I don't think I'd revisit for the cost. I'd rather go to Kings Fish House, or another local spot. they served the adults appetizers and mains before the children's orders hit the table and as a parent, we all know how that goes. Bubba Gump's is seriously delicious. The service is so fast and every worker is willing to stop to help out. We had the 1/2 lb pick and peel garlic shrimp to start. Incredible flavor. My wife had the Bourbon Mahi Mahi. Absolutely delicious. So flakey and the Cajun seasoning was top notch. I had the Coconut Shrimp which was also delicious and fried to perfection. We finished with a traditional cookie in a skillet with ice cream. Pretty similar to a pazookie but I did think the peanuts on top were a nice added touch. Our server, Bobby Lee, was incredible. Friendly and engaging without being over the top. He told quick short jokes that could only be described as dad jokes but they landed with us. He added to the whole vibe in a great way. It's a shame it took me this long to write an updated review on Bubba Gump, but better late than never! In the past few years, I've come here quite a few times for takeout orders and have consistently had super positive experiences! The staff is always very friendly and has always promptly taken our orders, given us our drinks right away so we could enjoy them while waiting, and even thrown in little extras like a free dessert to celebrate a special occasion. One time, they even upgraded our drink from a soda to an icee at no extra charge. I feel like the staff must be treated pretty well here, as I've noticed the same employees are still here from a few years ago. I believe the great customer service they deliver is a direct reflection of how the business is run and as a manager of people who values the importance of work culture, this makes me want to support them all the more! As a bonus, the food is pretty good and I love that BBQ ribs are an option on the kids' menu! read more

The best part about this place sadly is their music playlist. I don't understand the hype around Bubba Gump Shrimp. Although the theme is cool and relevant to Forrest Gump, the food quality lacks freshness and flavor. When you feel like you can cook better than what's made at a restaurant, that's usually not a good sign. I tried multiple items on the menu and wasn't impressed by anything at all - this includes the Crab & Shrimp Roll and Fish and Chips. At most, the fries and garlic bread were the top highlights of the menu but this is sad to say, as these are just sides. I didn't like how my Crab & Shrimp Roll lacked butter so I ended up wasting most of the bread part due to lack of flavor. The 1/2 lb of shrimp was not bad, but I much rather go to Boiling Crab for better freshness and flavor and a better seafood boil experience. I personally wouldn't come back. read more
