I went here this past Saturday night with my boyfriend. We drove out of our way to go here because we really love it here. For drinks, we got sake and the hot green tea that comes with your meal, but you have to ask for it or they don't bring it out. We got the filet mignon and he got the steak and shrimp. The last time I visited this location, it had a different name (Samurai), and it was actually quite a long time ago. When my daughter suggested that she would like to take out our family for a Hibachi-style dinner for a holiday meal, we tried to figure out where we should go, and I am so glad we thought of this place, because we had a very enjoyable experience here. We made reservations for eight about a week in advance, and I was told on the phone, that our entire party must be here no later than ten minutes past the reservation time, or we may lose our spot. Thankfully, we all arrived on time. We were all seated around a large flat-top grille / table, which just so happened to have eight seats, so we had the perfect amount of people in our party. Our meal started with our server, Brendan (Brandon?) who got us all situated with menus, drinks, hot tea, etc., and he took our orders. After bringing us our drinks, soups and salads, the server stepped aside, while our Chef, Fernando, came to the table, and introduced himself. He was very funny, and did lots of tricks, and told jokes, all while skillfully preparing our food. My favorite tricks that he did were juggling eggs in the air, and making a flaming / smoking "Volcano" out of onions. He also cooked up some zucchini strips with the onions. Our party included one gluten-sensitive member (they have a special menu that shows what foods are available, listing allergens, and they also offered a gluten-free soy sauce), and Fernando cooked her food (steak) first on the flat-top to avoid any cross-contamination. Other members of our party ordered shrimp, chicken, scallops, lobster-tail, chicken-fried rice, chicken over noodles, and filet mignon. Fernando skillfully cooked everything to order right in front of us, and it was fun to watch him work. After he completed our meal, he thanked us all, and exited our area, and Brendan came back and made sure we had everything we needed, and also served us dessert (the choices were sherbet, chocolate, and vanilla ice cream. Overall, this was a great family event, and everyone enjoyed the food and the experience, and the decor was pretty cool also. The only reason I am not giving five stars, is because I woke up with a very bad migraine headache, several hours after eating, which usually means that somewhere in the meal, I must have eaten MSG (I am guessing it was in the soup, and or salad dressing). In this day and age, you would think that restaurants would stop using this artificial flavoring / taste enhancer, as it has proven negative side-effects, but I digress. I still give this place a nice recommendation, for it was a wonderful meal, and a great time spent with family .... Cheers! P.S. I think it would also be nice to have more veggie options. Zucchini, onions, and mushrooms, are all very nice, but why not some baby bok choi, purple eggplants, fried cabbage, carrots, peppers, etc.? I would have much rather had a nice side of veggies next to my meat, than scallops (which I generally don't eat, but my options on the menu seemed limited, so I tried them, and they were satisfactory, but veggies are where it's at ... Love me some awesome plant food!). read more

Food was good; however it was very expensive. Fried rice was a hidden up charge ($30 for 5 people) and the kids chicken tenders were $18. 2 adults and 3 kids bill was over $200. Go to Saga where rice is included and kids meals are reasonably priced. read more

Ah... Good Ole Rocky (who started and owned this chain) What happened bro... They are known for the Hibachi cooking on the flat top. It's a show and you can reserve a table for 8 or you can share a table and be mystified by the chefs skills and setting food ablaze. If that's not your jam you can get a regular table and order from the menu. They do fish, chicken, beef and etc. This is a Japanese restaurant so.. if you have an MGS issue the soup has it everything else does not but make sure you ask ok. The food is pretty standard fare, tastes good but could be hotter. Most of us got the lunch specials which came with a protein, vegetables and rice. With lunch you can have the soup or salad. I also ordered the beef dumplings but we had to send them back as they were cold. In all honesty they only had two groups doing Habachi at the tables and us? It was whatever.. our server was good but seemed a little busy considering. Due to my dumpling issue I got hot ones and she took it off the bill. The food was pretty good.. but not memorable. This place is not exactly easy to get to and or find as it shares a parking lot/space with a condo building. Will I be back here probably not or any other Benihana. They have parking.. read more

We love sushi and wanted something close to home so we came here. We came here in the evening and it was pretty empty which we loved. We were seated right away and chris was our server. We had chicken and rice with a couple sushi rolls. Everything was good and warm. Plenty of food and nothing different than you'd expect. The food was good and there was plenty of it. Nothing really will wow you but you will be satisfied. We would come here again because we didn't have any issues and it's close to where we live. Truth is, Benihana isn't anything special. If you've had hibachi before you've possibly had it better. The staff isn't the most interactive and the environment could use some modernization or at least some form of activity, it almost seems dull. However, I would suggest ASKING for your included green tea, it's very good after a meal and if you're getting hibachi go "spicy" - the flavor it adds in addition to the spice is superb and far outweighs the minuscule spice it brings. 5/10 Average, I'll go once a year, my brother loves this place on his birthday ENJOY! read more

I made a reservation for my son's birthday almost a week in advance. They placed us at a table in the corner near the door with no decorations or ambiance, just bare walls. The waitress, Christina, was more than rough around the edges, served the soup and salad at the same time, didn't clear either bowls. The chef arrives we have to stack our own dishes at the end of the table. The chef places rice and veggies on grill and proceeds to cook. No knife work, no jokes, just silence. Then he does the same with the meat. We had to flag Christine down for another drink, she didn't even come back to check. We all purchased the six course meal which included ice cream. Instead of asking what flavor would we like she asks "do you want ice cream?" I responded doesn't it come with our meal. She responds, "Yeah if you want it." She brings the ice cream and puts it in front of us with our dinner plates still in place. No birthday singing, etc. Yet across the restaurant another group had all servers singing. I then call next morning to talk to the general manager explain the situation that occurred and his response was I will talk to the staff. If you ever come back he will ensure a better experience. No offer to assist in reducing the $350 bills or sending a discount card, nothing. I get upset and his response to my anger is don't ever come back or call this restaurant again. This place has really gone down hill. We dined in a lot before Covid so when we were in the area is was an easy choice for dinner. We had a reservation so only a short wait, and the place was packed- great to see! As soon as you walked in all you could see/smell was the smoke. It was like the restaurant was in a fog. As we got seated, I found out why. Our table had no exhausted fan OR lights working! My husband ordered a mojito which they didn't have ingredients for and our waitress didn't know what a dirty martini was. He went with water. The hibachi chef confirmed meals and my shrimp order was incorrect. The waitress put in for the more expensive larger shrimp, which I don't like. We ordered sushi, which arrived AFTER our hibachi was fully cooked and eaten. No hot tea or ice cream we're offered- which are part of your "6 course meal" Needless to say, we won't be back for a $92 meal when we can go to Saga or Ichiban in Robinson for a much better meal for less. read more

The worst hibachi I've ever had. I was hoping for an authentic Japanese steakhouse experience but was surprised to see a virtually all-American staff. Nonetheless, I was excited to try Benihana because my hubby and I had never been there before, but immediately upon entering the restaurant our feet were sticking and sliding on the floors.. they were filthy. When finally seated at the hibachi table, there were food remnants from the previous meal in all of the corners of the griddle and on the table. The waitress took our drink orders and only came back to our table once during the whole meal. Everyone at the table had dirty dishes, cups, glasses and napkins piling up in front of them with nowhere to put them. One of our family members ordered a tofu soup from the menu and was told they don't actually serve that soup there.. what? It's ON your menu! The manager ended up bringing him a bowl (magic?). The food/flavor was mediocre at best.. We were asked if we wanted white rice or fried rice with our meals and 3 of us chose fried rice. We were shocked to see they charged us $6 for fried rice... literally.. just fried rice. Why even offer this as an option with your hibachi meal if it's not included in the price? $500 later and 6 out of 8 of us had stomach issues later that night/the next day. Stick with Ichiban for a great hibachi meal and experience. read more

No longer the Benihana I've been to numerous times over the years. The floors were dirty to the extent the soles my shoes stuck to them. Almost 2 hrs to cook our food and each item was cooked separately. I ordered scallops and steak, the scallops were (over) cooked and served with the shrimp appetizer, the steak arrived one hour and fifteen minutes later, followed by the zucchini and lastly the mushrooms rounding out the 2 hr cooking time. Service was equally as dismal. Needless to say I'll never return. read more

Terrible. Reservation was at 5:30, don't get sat until 5:45. No problem, when we were seated they took our drink orders. Everyone at the table except my kids got waters and drinks from the bar. 6:00 nothing, 6:15, nothing, 6:30 she comes back with our beverages. She takes everyone's orders and we wait until about 6:50 for the hibachi chef to come to the table. I will say he was wonderful. We had tickets to a show at 7:30. We ended up having to get our food to go and eat in our car. We were also late to our show and missed the first half because of lack of staff/horrible service. I called to speak with a manager later that night to tell them about the length we had to wait and not so great service. I was immediately hit with "we don't give refunds or gift cards for hibachi experience" I said that's fine, that's not why I'm calling. I'm calling to let you know that your service is very bad and that you can't tell people that they have a reservation at 5:30 and an hour later they are not eating let alone just getting a drink. She explained to me that they were very busy and yes of course you are, it's 5 and a weekend. I've been a waitress I know how it is. She said they had limited chefs. Again, that's fine. But don't take reservations then if you can't give people a proper dining experience. Never again. To charge people upwards of 60.00 for hibachi and they have to wait so long. No thanks. I'll never go back. Terrible service and terrible management. I will say one nice thing, very kind greeters and it was the cleanest restaurant bathroom I've ever seen. And I think we could tell them less seasoning and soy now that we know and it would be better. I would like to start out by acknowledging that the "four" star review was given only because I genuinely love the food. The filet and chicken combo never fails to exceed expectations. The men's restroom on the other hand is a different story. To say that I was appalled by the wafting aroma would be an understatement. I've never personally been inside the bathroom of Goodwill on Route 51 but I'm willing to bet cold hard cash that it doesn't smell like a combination of asparagus and eel left out to defrost. If I wanted to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder I am certain that enlisting in the military and liberating the Kandahar Province of Afghanistan would be a much more viable option than undergoing a gas attack in the bathroom of my favorite Japanese restaurant. Great food, terrible bathroom. Also, I highly suggest looking into getting a Dyson Airblade. It will be the best $1400 you have ever invested into your business. read more
