The sake no shioyaki was below average for salmon (2/5) and very expensive for that amount they give you. Similarly, the onigiri is almost entirely rice if you add salmon (2/5). You order on a tablet, and they bring the food out. Service was ok (3/5); we had empty waters for a while. The restaurant is well-decorated, and you can see the chefs work, which gives it an ambiance somewhat like a hibachi place (4/5). Overall, I think most of the items are pretty expensive for what they are; they don't have the quality or quantity to justify the price.

This place is EXTREMELY overpriced. I have been to so many hibachi restaurants and gotten double the food for half the price. The chef was very nice but not enthusiastic at all. To top it off the bartender gave my husband a hard time about his drivers license being out of state (he is in the military and that's the reason we live in Pittsburgh currently) to the point my husband had to show his military id to explain as to why we were there (we are creeping up on our 40s there is no denying we are of age lol). There really isnt good next-to-the-front door parking. There is an open air parking lot and some parallel parking options about a 5 minute walk. We found a place to parallel park. Paying is via a parking app. There is a 2 hour maximum which, to dine at The Melting Pot, know that you will most likely go over as we did. Price was about 10 bucks and this was on a Sunday. Nothing free here. Once there, we were seated promptly (it wasn't crowded at all). Our server was very attentive and helpful throughout our dining experience. We started with a feature cheese fondue (buffalo chicken, I think). Our dipping items included fruit, bread, and tortilla chips. Very nice. Next up was salad. We both chose the strawberry pecan salad. The dressing was divine. Then came the main course of proteins -- chicken, steak, shrimp-- and a platter of veggies with a broth we chose for cooking the vegetables and a separate grill we used for cooking the proteins. There also was a variety of dips and sauces provided. All were a hit. Finally, our chocolate fondue sealed the deal. We chose a feature chocolate of Boston cream pie. The RiverHounds had a game that night, so parking was a lovely flat-rate $20. Nothing says "Thanks for coming!" like paying half the price of your meal just to leave your car somewhere. Upon entering you walk through a Japanese gate and a koi pond. Its truly beautiful. Don't mind my kid being a weirdo.... lol. But we wanted to sit outside because it was beautiful out. When we were seated I wanted to get my son the AYCE and for myself I just wanted one sushi roll. They wouldn't allow that. You have to either all get the AYCE at the table or not at all. I can kind of understand that due to people being sneaky and sharing but I just wanted my one roll. So that kinda sucked for him but we still enjoyed our rolls. The server was friendly though I told her I was gluten free and she remade my roll for free. The sushi was very good though! We will be back

The food was tasty but overly salty, that's probably why I thought it was so good! We loved everything, especially because the meat was cooked as requested. I didn't get a change to finish my meal because of the generous portion, but it reheated well the next day. The restaurant is quite large, with lots of seating and plenty of free outdoor parking as well. The restrooms were clean (they even had a family bathroom separate from the other restrooms).
