We celebrated Father's Day at Benihana again this year, and as always, it was such a great experience! We've come here a few times for Father's Day, and it's become one of our favorite traditions. My go-to order is always the mushroom soup, steak and shrimp, and chicken fried rice was so delicious every time! Normally I'm taking photos of everything, but this visit was different. I was simply enjoying the moment with my family. Everyone was talking, laughing, and truly present, which is why I only ended up taking two photos. Since I'm not much of a drinker anymore, I stuck with my Coca-Cola (lol), while my husband ordered a cucumber cocktail. Of course, I had to try a sip, and it was surprisingly refreshing! Our chef was amazing and made the experience so much fun. I wish I could remember his name because he definitely deserves a shout-out. He kept us entertained, had a great personality, and made our Father's Day celebration extra special. We'll definitely be back for more special occasions. Thank you, Benihana, for another memorable family celebration!

I went to Benihana's for lunch and it was pretty packed, I believe it was graduation time so families were there to celebrate. I didn't have a reservation and they were not taking walk ins, so I had to sit at the bar which was fine. The service was not that great. When I sat down the area was not wiped down and there was a chopstick wrapper and napkin left. It took a while for someone to come and give me a menu, he came back and took my order. When my order came I had to ask him to wipe down the bar and I didn't notice until he walked away that he didn't give me a fork or napkins. He said he would bring soup and salad shortly. Well he didn't bring the soup and salad until I had finished my main course but at least he brought it, I guess. Funny thing is I didn't realize that my rice was missing until I got home, I knew something was off about the meal but because of the subpar service I didn't realize my rice was missing. Not to mention that the only thing that was hot was the tempura dipping sauce, everything else was like warm. There's a parking lot but it's hard to find parking in the closest.

Went to benihana for my birthday with family and had a great time. We ordered filet mignon and lobster and chicken and everything was cooked in front of us as they do and was excellent and cooked her perfection. The steak was so tender. The lobster was very sweet and tasty and the chicken was so tasty and tender. The service is excellent. They always check on your drinks. The chef is always very attentive and provide you with any extra sauces or soy sauce that you may need. The ambience is very busy and loud as everyone is enjoying the shows and clapping and laughing and having a great time. This is always a great place for a special occasion or even for just lunch as they have lunch specials now. Have been coming here for decades and will continue.

I've been coming to this Benihana's for over 30 years. I love the location. I love the remodel that they did, but this is not the Benihana of old everything has changed for the worse management is different waitresses are different chefs are different but I keep coming back even with the astronomical prices for dinner. I came here the other day terrible service food was good but as you can see in the picture, there was a fly on my daughter's cup. That was unacceptable. Come on Benihana you can do better. I really want this Benihana to be good, but with all the recent and bad publicity this place has gotten over the past year and a half. All I can do is pray.

I've noticed a HUGE difference in the portions we are now receiving, compared to just 6 months ago. They flood my emails with this $3-$6-$9 menu and it's a damn JOKE. This is what $10 will get you and they should be so embarrassed. I have many other options and Benihana won't be one of them anymore. I included the advertisement they emailed and the portion in the advertisement looks nothing like the portion I received.

Through out the years, I hav e been to Benihana. When I did not know much about the foodie-verse this place was a theatrical display of flavor in flame. But now that I have earned my stars and stripes, this place is a chain restaurant with a gimmick. But when I went the last time, the gimmick felt fresh, and exciting. It not feel like I was seeing it for the first time, but it feel like I was seeing it through a fresh perspective. I guess, in. a way I felt Jamais vu--- the notion, offered by the French, that something familiar feels new. My friend Conrad had his birthday dinner here, and I went to help celebrate his place on earth plus 35 years. I got there a tiny bit late. I got there, and I was hungry. Like I slept, skipped, breakfast and lunch, and I was desperate for food hungry. I also had the task of meeting his family for the first time, and I was not in a place to mingle with glee. As soon, as Diego (a server of acclaim) brought the gyoza I went in deep on them. Conrad's brother in law understood, my hunger was well known by this point. As soon as I had one, I knew I had to eat more of them. In response, I asked Diego to bring more of them, cause I wanted to replenish what I had taken. I did not catch the video, but in one of the pictures, Diego can be seen tending to a big platter full of miso soups. His hand is hovering above, it almost willing the platter to stay, in a Jedi kind of way. What I wanted to capture (on video) was the struggle that this young man had as he placed the platter on the corner of the Hibachi, all super carefully, like I felt his sweat as he did it, in a second hand struggle kind of way. His faced showed focused worried, his body showed careful restrain. This effort alone qualified him for applause, as I would not want to teeter a platter of Miso unto the corner of a table. And Diego did it with effort that showed. In a way that makes the act imore heroic because some heroes do their work with ease, others do their work with focus and hard intent. I rather root for the second type of hero. The Hibachi show itself was fun, and engaging, but not something that I can enjoy on the regular, the heat of the Hibachi would lose its gleam. My favorite part was when the chef threw eggs into his hat and then a chic came out--- a wind up toy. It was clever. And if I had the eyes and innocence of a child, I think I would have been more in awe. I am glad that Conrad's family had kids to view and smile upon the chic. The food, although, good is less than solid, more like stable. I did appreciate the miso, and the soup, and the gyoza, but when it moved to the main dishes, they were bland. I had the surf and turf-- steak and lobster. And again, there is not anything necessarily wrong with what I ate, but there is also nothing noteworthy. It stands to reason then, that this place is a spectacle for the eyes, and standard nourishment for the body. It is also important to note that for my self, I was asked to spend 60 dollars in the bill. Would I recommend this place? Yes. Would I recommend it to all? No. This is a place that is a response to a particular question? Where do I go for a meal that seems special but it is not going to demand that I cut my leg to pay for it?

The food is will always be delicious. The Torrance location is a zoo! The company operates this location as a circus that serves teppan food. Please don't go here if you, unless you want drama, and bias Management.

Had a few bad experiences in the past. But I came here once again as I received my birthday certificate. And boy was I surprised. We had a 3pm reservation. We were seated within minutes. Our Chef Daren was very energetic and friendly. One of our waitresses was in training and had another waiter with her helping around. They were very quick and attentive to everyone at the table. I was expecting to be here for a couple of hours. But we were out within 1 hour. They definitely turned things around or I was just really lucky. I hope this will be everyone's experience moving forward.

Is there a 18-20% service charge for 1,2 or 3 people automatically? Nothings listed?ot told ahead of time? Does this apply to take outs also? Extra sauces etc? Don't they have to tell or warn you of extra costs first?

    so sorry I'm not sure

Is the show included in the promotion for the $39 5 course meal?

    Yes

Wondering is the new add service charge of 20% mark up in the billing is different than tips?

I'm not aware of a 20% service change. For parties or 8 or more they add in an 18% gratuity (which patrons can increase).

What is outdoor dining like? Do they cook outside too?

    No outdoor dining

Is happy hour only offered at the bar?

    Yes

Does standard seating mean they cook in front of you?

    Yes

Can you bring in a cake for a birthday party reservation?

    Yes

Until what time is the lunch menu served?

well, not 100%, but at least until 3pm.

If we wanted to go and have a specific chef, could we request them? If we were flexible could we ask when they're working in order to be seated with them?

We've requested a chef before but they can't guarantee you'll get that chef. If you make reservations online you can note their name on there. The host a told us when we arrived to tell the server. We had 3 different chefs we liked to have a better…

Hello just wondering if you guys allow walk ins?

They might be able to squeeze you in at a grill if you are a party of 1 or 2, but I highly recommend reservations. If you don't care about the grill experience, you should be fine on a weekday.

Has anyone experienced the outdoor dinning? If so was the food prepared in front of you? If not, how did it taste anything different?

We ate there last Thursday evening. Food is prepared inside and brought out to you. It still tasted pretty much the same but was not nearly as hot. If you discover you need something you have to wait for the waiter to show up. Very small eating area…

    Do they have outside dining?

I went last month and they had a tent up for outside dining, but I'm thinking everything is opening back up with social distancing.

Do you still get seated in front of teppan tables? Also, if you're a smaller party (2), do you still have to share a table with others during this quarantine?

The cooks prepared food at a separate table and My party of 2 was seated with a party of 3 and it was a total of 5 at one table. And they seated people at every other table. 🙄

Are they open for curbside pickup during quarantine time?

    Yes they are.

Does your chef make everything you order in front of you or is it just specific items? Also, when you make a reservation, is it guaranteed that you'll be sat at one of the table where the food is prepared in front of you?

Everything in your main meal is prepared in front of you; meats/seafood, fried rice, and vegetables. Only thing that was not, were the salads and some appetizers like tempura, and soups. You will be seated at a cooking table unless you request not…

Is it a must to be seated in the communal stations? Are there private or stand alone tables available?

    There are private tables

Apparently I was just told over the phone that for a party of 8 you needs to reserve 3 weeks in advance ? When did that start? And they only accept customers with…

This is not true. It is often crowded and the wait can be very long. It's in your best interest to make reservations ahead of time if you can. This can also be done by using the Open Table app. It'll show you specific times and dates that are…

I kept on checking on the table in the meantime and there were plenty of seats open for people to sit at but the waitress wasn't calling people in. It wasn't efficient at all but I felt bad because she was by herself doing everything. Red Rock was clearly understaffed but I feel like the process and the wait time was unacceptable. These days, though, it's lunch that keeps bringing me back. In a city where fifteen dollars barely buys a sandwich, Yamaya somehow serves one of the best lunch specials in the South Bay. It isn't trying to impress you with theatrics. It simply gets the fundamentals right. The yakiniku is grilled just enough to pick up a little char without drowning in sauce. A few thicker pieces can be slightly chewy, but the flavor is consistently balanced. The salad is simple, the miso soup is comforting even if it's usually closer to warm than hot and then there's the rice. The rice deserves its own paragraph. Perfectly cooked, unlimited refills and paired with unlimited mentaiko and house pickles, it's the kind of combination that makes you slow down and wonder whether another bowl is really such a bad idea. It's simple food executed with enough confidence that it doesn't need to hide behind unnecessary complexity. The service has been a little inconsistent over the years, but on this visit it reminded me why hospitality still matters. Our server was warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming without feeling rehearsed. The restaurant was calm, a Japanese family chatted quietly at the next table and for an hour lunch felt refreshingly unhurried. Is this the best yakiniku I've ever had? No. Is it one of the best values I've found in Los Angeles? Absolutely. Some restaurants chase spectacle. Yamaya earns repeat customers instead. That's a much harder thing to build. One of the lunch deals I recommend most often in the South Bay.

Yes, it's more expensive than eating yakitori in Japan, but it's worth every penny. Since I only get to visit Japan once a year, Torihei is my one and only choice whenever I'm craving authentic yakitori that I simply can't make at home.

We went here at a Thursday evening for dinner and we were sitting at the bar…read moreMy friend said he has been this restaurant before so he highly recommended it It reminded me so much of the vibe of Japan We ordered so many dishes last night and all the grilled chicken are all good I personally love the grilled ginkgo nuts because it is so delicious and very rarely to see restaurants serving it with shells The service was really good and it is a great place to hang out with friends and families Have a drink paring with the food definitely it the best way to enjoy the food there Somehow, I noticed the little hallway entering the back kitchen and also inside of the lady's room smells bad I am not sure it is the plumbing issue or something but the smell is irritating and unpleasant Other than that, everything is very good Note: the restaurant is located at the plaza with 85 degrees bakery so the parking is plenty and easy to find a space

Never been to this Manpuku location before. I visited the one on Sawtelle Blvd. a few times, but…read morethat was like 4 years ago. I remember really liking the food, so I'm not sure why it took me until yesterday to finally check this place out. It was absolutely amazing. They nailed every aspect of the dining experience. Let's start with the service. It was phenomenal. The restaurant staff members were pleasant and efficient. All the dishes came out very fast. While I cooked most of the meats on the grill, there were some items that were carefully prepared table side by staff. I enjoyed the ambiance of this place. There was music softly playing in the background. The room temperature was cool - an absolute necessity when cooking food right over open flames in front of you. I ordered the Manpuku Premium set. I loved the food, like a lot. Here's a run down of almost everything I had: Manpuku Salad: It was fantastic. I'm used to eating a Japanese salad with the generic carrot ginger dressing. You know what I'm talking about. This one had a nice sesame oil flavor to it. Not sweet, more savory. A refreshing change from the norm. U.S. Kobe Filet: This was probably my least favorite cut of meat of the day as it wasn't as marbled and flavorful as the rest of them. However, it was soft as butter - exactly what you would expect from a premium piece of tenderloin steak. Seared Beef Nigiri: It came with 4 pieces, but we ordered an extra two pieces. The nigiri was delightful. Imagine eating the perfect piece of toro nigiri except it was made of highly marbled Wagyu beef. U.S. Kobe Sukiyaki: This was easily the best thing I had here, and that's saying a lot since I had a lot of great food. While I was allowed to cook the rest of the cuts of meat on my own, this one was specially prepared by a restaurant worker since the meat had to be cooked and prepared in a certain way to maximize the flavor experience. The meat, when dipped in the raw egg yolk was pure bliss. Fried Rice: It came out sizzling hot in a stone bowl. The fried rice was okay, but absolutely necessary for the meal. A lot of the meats were very fatty. The fried rice did a bang up job soaking up the oiliness of the meats when consumed together. U.S. Kobe Boneless Short-rib, US Kobe Chuck Flap, and Miso Skirt Steak: These were all home runs. They were tender, fatty, and incredibly tasty. My favorite of this trio was the short rib since it was the most marbled of the bunch. Garlic Edamame: I've had my share of edamame in my life, prepared in a variety of different ways. I used to like how a restaurant called Backhouse in the Santa Monica area used to serve their garlic edamame. It was my favorite edamame around. Sadly, that establishment no longer exists. This restaurant's edamame reminded me of the Backhouse edamame. It was perfectly warm and flavored. Simply outstanding. For dessert, they let you select from a list of options. I had macha ice cream, as that is my favorite flavor of ice cream at a Japanese restaurant. It was very creamy and not overly sweet. Best part was the ice cream bowl was chilled. Kept the ice cream cold. It was the perfect way to end a fantastic dining experience.

This place is such a gem!! Everyone keeps leaving comments about how expensive it is, but I…read moreactually think that the manpuku traditional menu is fairly priced for the amount of food they give you. It's $69 per person with a 2 person minimum. The service was fast and everyone was really friendly. The vibes were perfect for a date night or a random Tuesday night treat! Can't wait to be back
