Was up north for an event and in the mood for Asian cuisine, so decided to stop at Bep Saigon for dinner. They have an extensive menu with dishes made from professional Vietnamese chefs with unique recipes. There was plenty of parking onsite and we were greeted quickly and seated upon arrival. The restaurant had a large crowd which is usually a good sign. The menu was so extensive it was hard to decide what to order. I ended up going with the Buddha's Delight with broccoli, carrots, water chestnuts, Napa cabbage & mushrooms stir fried in brown sauce. I ended up getting the beef for my protein. I didn't really like the flavor profile and the veggies were drowning in sauce. I had to drain some of the sauce off the plate because it was a bit over saturated. I added an egg roll and egg drop soup. The egg drop soup had a dark brown color and not the normal flavor profile, it was somewhat bitter. Someone in my party ordered the vermicelli bowl with beef. I had high expectations for this place, but the food just did not meet my expectations.

First time at Bep Saigon and we loved it! Service was friendly and quick, and we were easily able to find multiple vegetarian options. The Vietnamese pancake appetizer was excellent- such an amazing mix of crispy and chewy texture, and we loved the pan fried flat noodles. Another great crispy/chewy texture combination. We are definitely adding Bep Saigon into our regular rotation!

This is a rather impressive restaurant serving up Vietnamese fare. They appear to be open 7 days a week from 11am to 9pm. It's located north of the AMC, directly on the north side of the P. Terry's. Parking is plentiful. Interestingly, this was the first time I had a stir-fried rice noodle that was slightly crunchy. Their Hủ Tiếu Áp Chảo has a crispy fried exterior and a soft and slightly chewy interior. Basically, they are rice noodles that are pressed together and then cut into flat squares. These are stir-fried with protein and veggies; they are quite delicious. Their beef luc lac Bò Lúc Lắc is also fantastic. The beef chunks are uniformly sized, cooked with onions, and served on top of a bed of lettuce and tomato slices. Served with a lemony black pepper sauce on the side. The Thịt Kho Tàu, or braised pork belly, came in a small caldron with chunks of braised pork belly, scallions, and fried eggs, with a savory brown sauce. Their soups are also pretty solid, though I think the aforementioned dishes pack more punch. I've also ordered their vermicelli bowls, pho, and spring rolls to go; they are decent enough. A weakness I would point out about this restaurant is their rice, which is served with the beef luc lac and the braised pork belly. It's the same feeling you might get as getting a fly in your soup or crunchy insects in your salad or cooked (but perhaps not well-cleaned) leafy greens. In this case, their steamed rice comes with way too many grains that have black spots. Sure, perhaps some insect larvae had a good time nomming on the rice kernels before being harvested, but I essentially always have to inspect every single grain for blemishes. By far, this restaurant serves rice with one of the highest densities of damaged grains, and it's no fun when you start mistrusting your food. This issue has occurred on multiple repeat visits, so I would encourage them to take their rice preparation more seriously, or at least use higher quality rice. In terms of payment, if you eat in, it's likely they may be short staffed a bit, so if you want to pay, venturing up front to pay is a good tactic.

I tried their Bún bò Huế, braised pork belly, and pan-fried flat noodles with seafood combo--and I really enjoyed all of them. The flavors are delicious and a bit different from the usual, which made the experience even more interesting. Bún bò Huế This dish comes with thick, rod-shaped rice noodles in a flavorful broth. The soup is rich and tasty, with a comforting depth. It includes a piece of pork hock that's pleasantly chewy--so if you like your pork hock fall-off-the-bone soft, this might not be the best fit. There's also one piece of blood cake that's very soft and has a clean flavor--nothing too intense. If you're not into blood cake, just let your server know or skip this dish. It's served with a side of Thai basil, bean sprouts, and a small cup of sauce. I think the sauce might be made with tiny fried fish, maybe shrimp, and a bit of sugar. It's sweet, savory, and full of umami. I added it to the broth after finishing the noodles, and honestly, it made the soup even better. Pan-Fried Flat Noodles with Seafood Combo I love this dish! The flat noodles are made from rice and seem to be either steamed or boiled first, then a couple of layers of flat noodles were added to the pan, pan-fried (not stir-fried) like a pancake, and finally cut into large, wide pieces. The outside is golden brown and crisp, while the inside stays soft and chewy--such a satisfying contrast. The seafood combo includes shrimp, squid, scallops, carrots, and broccoli. The seafood is tender and juicy, and the vegetables are still crunchy--so if you prefer softer veggies, just be aware of that. Personally, I like the texture contrast, and it shows that the chef has strong wok skills. Braised Pork Belly This dish is full of flavor. Braised meat is usually cooked with soy sauce, so it may contain gluten. The pork belly is soft and melt-in-your-mouth rich, with a good balance of fat and meat. It's served with two "tiger skin" eggs--what my family calls eggs that are hard-boiled, peeled, and deep-fried to create a golden, textured surface. A familiar and comforting touch. The dish comes with steamed rice, and if you're not into fatty meats, there's also a braised fish option. Overall Experience I'd personally give the food a 4.5, but since there's no option for half-stars, I rounded up to 5. The service was friendly, the wait time was reasonable, and parking was easy. Most dishes come with steamed rice, different styles of rice noodles, or vermicelli. If you're looking to avoid gluten, this is a great place to check out.

My family and I came here for lunch, and we were happy overall with our meal. Staff were very attentive and food was tasty. Restaurant is clean and easy to find parking. I felt like the food was authentic to Vietnam and prepared well. Portion sizes are on the smaller size for entrees (we did family style) and food took a while to come to the table. We ordered the bo luc lac (shaken steak) and a Vietnamese fish soup. All were good but I've had better at other places. Side note: requesting and incentivizing customers to give perfect ratings is misleading. This place has several signs inside where they will offer a free item or discount if you show a perfect review.

I came into the restaurant and ordered the Buddha delight with chicken. It was a lunch special so it came with a hot and sour soup, egg roll, and I upgraded to fried rice. Would've been a great deal had the food been better. No chopsticks were given. I understand the quality of to go orders will always go down some. But the order came out fresh and I took a bite immediately in the car. The chicken was dry and rubbery. The "fried" rice was regular steamed rice cooked in stock. Not crispy at all and completely lacking flavor. Uncle Roger would've died eating it just so he could roll over in his grave at how bad it was. Hot and sour soup and egg roll were ok but nothing special. I really wanted to like this place and the reviews had been good. One of the workers at the restaurant was kind and considerate and offered me a place to sit away from the front door because it was cold and breezy. Maybe the Vietnamese food is better?

No matter how many Vietnamese spots open in Austin, I still remember being one of the first customers at Bếp Saigon and it's a place that's consistently solid over the years. On weekdays, it's my go-to for quick, flavorful lunches. On evenings and weekends, I like bringing friends or family to enjoy their more traditional, shareable Vietnamese dishes like Bánh Xèo (crispy Vietnamese crepe), Canh Chua (hot and sour soup) or Cá Kho (braised caramelized fish in clay pot). Here are some of my favorite dishes I've tried over time: Gỏi Sứa / Jellyfish salad with herbs and shredded veggies ($18) Bánh Xèo / Vietnamese crispy crepe($18) Bánh Khọt / Mini crispy coconut pancakes Bò Lúc Lắc / Shaking beef Hủ Tiếu Áp Chảo / Crispy pan-fried flat rice noodles (always extra crispy!) Tôm Rang Muối / Jumbo Salt & Pepper Shrimp ($17) Bánh Bột Chiên / Fried rice flour cake with egg Heo Xào Lá Quế Thái / Thai Basil Pork Bún Bò Huế / Spicy beef noodle soup Canh Chua / Tamarind-based sour soup with veggies and pineapple hot pot style Cá Kho Tộ / Braised fish in clay pot Bonus tip: their catering is excellent. Their portions are plentiful, well-packed, and they'll make solid recommendations if you're not sure what to order. Super helpful for parties or company gatherings.

Definitely an upgrade from what it used to be! Under new management about a year ago, they did some lux renovations and changed out the menu. On this Friday evening when I was so hungry, I was welcomed by the new owner. Who suggested the fish fillet, which was their special of the day. They even have the whole fish option too. I must say that the food options and flavors were fantastic! It completely changed my view compared to what was in the past. I was craving for their rice, cake omelette/ banh bot chien. And the flavors, the texture were way better than expected and compared to other places! A must order. My Vietnamese family loved all the other entrees as well. The crispy fried egg noodles with seafood (was not seafood, more like a combo) (the presentation was a bit off. But the crispiness and flavors were definitely a ticket to come back. The fish fillet was plump, moist and went well with the sweet & sour sauce and white rice. The panfried rice noodles with combination meats were well enjoyed. And the Chinese tangy orange chicken that came with a cup of wonton soup, was inhaled. Bravo, Bep Saigon! I'm impressed with your flavors and will definitely be back to try some more.

The food was okay but overall kind of hit or miss. The bun rieu had nice flavor but was way a bit salty, and the banh bot chien was just decent, different from what I'd imagined. My Thai iced tea and coffee didn't come out until the end of the meal, though they did comp the drinks, which I appreciated. Service was friendly, but the restaurant could definitely be a bit cleaner. Not a terrible experience, just not great either.

I would recommend checking this place out. Overall, this is a great spot to stop by for Vietnamese food. They also serve a good amount of Chinese dishes. Food: I ordered the Salt and Pepper Calamari and the Bun Bo Hue. Each dish had great flavors. I'm looking forward to coming back to try other items on their menu. Service: the staff was friendly and attentive. They checked on me throughout my meal and made sure I was taken care of. Ambiance: It's a nice family-owned business. Our favorite was the shaken beef and I always love egg drop soup. There was something about this soup however that was so rich- I'll be back for more! Overall highly recommend for Vietnamese!

We love this place! Food is super flavorful and delicious. The customer service is what we love even more. The waitresses there are always super nice and attentive. We never have to ask for refills on drinks cause they are on top of it. We have not ordered anything we haven't loved. They even make really good Pad Thai! We decided to check them out cause we saw online they make Bahn Xeo's. They did and they were delicious! The Sesame Chicken, Shaken beef, Bahn xeo, Wonton Soups, Pho, pad Thai, and bahn Khot all taste delicious. Thank you for becoming our new Vietnamese spot. read more

The Hu Tieu Ap Chao with beef was excellent with veggies and crispy rice noodles. The Lemon Pepper Chicken was fried and mediocre. The batter was way too thick. It reminds me of Americanized Asian food. I wish they specify that the chicken was battered and fried. I would go back and try other dishes, but would avoid anything fried. read more

Had to stop for a quick lunch. Found this place just right off I35 with easy access. The restaurant servers Viet & Chinese with a relaxed atmosphere. Okay, where do you find me every Tuesday night? Right there at Bep Saigon! Like another review I almost always get their special, Hu Tieu Ap Chao. You can specify beef, chicken or pork. My favorite is the beef. The dish is a perfect blend of meat, vegetables and soft flat fried rice noodles. To go with it I like the Thai tea. Great food!!!! read more

I first tried Bep Saigon back when it first opened, and I was impressed. I tried again today, and over that year or so something has changed significantly. As I did on my first visit, I ordered chicken pad thai. This time however, what I got is certainly not that. I was surprised when I opened the container to be face to face with a giant portion of yellow noodles, eggs, and chicken. Pad Thai is generally vibrant and flavorful and from most good Thai restaurants served with egg, carrots, green onion, plenty of sprouts, cucumber, and often tofu as well. This really missed the mark. The sauce was soupy and sweet. While it wasn't inedible, this pile of sweet noodles is a far cry from good Pad Thai. If Pad Thai is what you crave, Bep Saigon won't scratch that itch for you. Sip Saam and Ros Niyom are among those within the area that serve a tasty and vibrant Pad Thai. I wish I'd gone with one of those today, but I wanted to give Bep another try. I can't speak to their other dishes, but definitely count them out on this one. read more

Undoubtedly my favorite restaurant (addiction)right now. There are so many gorgeous dishes that I want to try, but I just can't seem to stray away from the combination Hu Tieu Ap Chao or their Shaking Beef dish. Both are perfection and not to be missed. The steak is perfectly cooked in the beef dish - so tender and juicy..and a quick dip in the lemon juice on the side? Yas sister! Not to mention the fried flat noodles in the Ap Chao dish are always bang on - crispy and flavorful! Best kept secret for sure! read more

The food was flavorful and they had big portions. We had salt and pepper calamari which was light on breading and tasted crispy fresh. The salt and pepper chicken was good as well. Also very flavorful and tender was the bo luc lac (steak). The staff was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to come back with more friends. read more

Everything we've tried there have been great! Hu tieu ap chao is amazing. The pan fried noodles has a delicious flavor and texture to it making it very hard to try something new. The Shaken beef - bo luc lac is also a very delicious dish. Their PHO is still 2nd to mom's pho but so far it's the best 2nd I've found in Austin! They give generous portions, the service is always great, and the restaurant is clean and inviting. read more

This is my new favorite go to for Asian food. Nice selection of Vietnamese, Chinese, and a pad Thai to round it out. In house portions are very generous although the to go portions seem a bit smaller, I'm getting fat so who cares. Still a nice size meal. I've been here about 4 times now and haven't been disappoint with any item. Best dish imo is the Calamari appetizer, they nailed it. Yellow curry tonight was also spot on. Support these guys so we can keep them around! read more

Their portion is above average. I've had their pho, bun bo hue, and bun rieu. I thought they were all ok, nothing amazing but not bad either. I wouldn't go out of my way to get food here if I live farther away. read more

Food was fast and great. We ordered several things and enjoyed all of it. Prices are very reasonable. Bo Luc Lac, vermicelli bowls, and calamari were all wonderful. Calamari had the tentacles also, which we love. Egg drop soup also very good. Fried rice was good but not great. read more

Squeaky clean restaurant , large open kitchen, fresh and tasty food(both Vietnamese and some common Chinese American food), smiley and polite staff (your typical super friendly Vietnamese moms and pops!) and the lunch sets are extremely affordable for THAT much food. What's not to like? I guess I just hate that it's in Pflugerville and we live miiiiles away! read more

Worst place. Staffs are super rude. They just wanted you to leave right away when you're done with your meal. And when I asked for some extra vegetables to eat with my pho, they seemed uncomfortable. Not authentic Vietnamese food, could not even finish my meal cause it tasted horrible. This is the worst place I've ever been to since I moved to the US. Not recommended read more

An extra star since they're one of the few Chinese restaurants that is actually doing dine-in during the pandemic. I'm usually a bit hesitant going to fusion places, since most can't do everything well. But I've tried both their Chinese and Vietnamese dishes, and all were very good. Service was attentive. Be sure to check the chalk boards on the wall, because they often have some off menu specials. read more

It's cold today so we came in for some pho, it's OK but the broth is a bit salty. That's why I gave them 3 stars I'm impressed with the cleanliness of this restaurant and the service is not bad either. Came back today to try again and I was disappointed. OMG! ordered Bun Thap Cam and what a mistake it was! Very bad dish I'm not sure what kind of food. read more

Everything here is good! Having just moved here from Houston, with a high density of Vietnamese population and where there were literally hundreds of pho shops within 10-mile radius of our home, we were apprehensive of our prospects in Austin. But Bep Saigon's pho broth is LEGIT. Deep and flavorful yet clean and not over-the-top. The vermicelli with grilled pork is also very good, as are their Chinese dishes. Great place- food is awesome, service is great and fast. It's always a plus when you have Asian food in a restaurant with Asian workers and More Asian customers than any other. 2nd time I've come and I know I'll be back again--- now if only I could get a picture of everything on their menu... so I can try everything without any fear of what it looks like. read more

Ordered takeaway - sweet n sour chicken. The sweet n sour sauce was in a separate cup and had a very bland taste. The pineapple, green pepper and onion were added separately from the fried chicken it seems. It was more like having fried chicken, some unsavory veggies and a sauce on the side, none of which had a good taste at all. Huge disappointment for the first time so not sure if it's worth a second shot ever. read more

After landing in San Antonio yesterday to kick off my summer vacation, the very first thing I did…read moretoday was ask my friend to bring me back to this restaurant. The reason is simple: we ate here two years ago, and it left such a great impression on us that we had been looking forward to coming back ever since. Fortunately, not much has changed in terms of either the quality or the overall presentation of the food. Everything is still delicious, especially the Pho Combo. To be honest, it's far better than most of the pho we've had in Germany. That doesn't mean the pho in Germany is bad--it simply means this place matches my personal taste much better. As for the downsides, they're almost exactly the same as before. Parking is still a major challenge, and I understand that's probably not something the restaurant can easily fix. We also tried calling ahead to reserve a table, but they don't take reservations, whether you're coming with a group of 5-7 people or just 2-3 people. We arrived at 6:45 PM and still had to wait about 40 minutes before being seated, which was honestly quite inconvenient. Coincidentally, there was live music tonight, which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, the sound system wasn't very good, so it was difficult to hear what the singers were performing. Then again, this isn't really the type of venue where people come specifically to enjoy live music, so most diners didn't seem to pay much attention to it. One thing I did notice was that either the kitchen has made a few changes over the past two years, or perhaps my own taste has changed a little. The food felt slightly saltier than I remembered, and the pho broth was richer and creamier. While that added some depth of flavor, it was a bit too rich for my liking, to the point where finishing the entire bowl of broth felt a little overwhelming. The braised short ribs were incredibly tender--so tender that a knife was almost unnecessary, and they could easily be pulled apart with just a fork. While many people would probably see that as a positive, I actually missed the slightly firmer, meatier texture I remembered from my last visit. That said, these are relatively minor issues. The quality may have dipped just a little compared to our previous visit, but this is still an excellent restaurant. If they can fine-tune those small details, it would easily return to being one of my favorite places. There's a good chance we'll stop by one more time before heading back to Germany.

Absolutely…read more After my umpteenth visit, I think it's safe to say I've worked my way through almost the entire menu (minus a few noodle, chicken & vegetarian dishes). My 2025 review still stands, but after so many visits, I've noticed a few items haven't been good as they used to, particularly the chicken wings (and yes, all three of them). The Garlic Wings haven't been hitting quite the same lately. They've started to taste a little dry, and the saucier wings taste better the next day since they don't have time to steep through once served. The Filet Mignon Pepper Steak is still my favorite dish on the menu, but I still can't justify ordering it family-style anymore. It's delicious, but the portion just doesn't match the price. One of the newest additions--the Truffle Fried Rice is spectacular. It's light, not overpowering with truffle, and the fish eggs really adds the perfect little pop of texture/flavor. I don't think I breathed the entire I scarfed it down!! 1618 is still one of my favorite restaurants in Austin of all time, but I think it's time for the menu to elevate a bit and dive deeper into less mainstream Asian cuisine. If anyone can do it, 1618 can.

If you've been searching for genuine Vietnamese flavors in Austin, Bep Saigon might just be the spot you've been looking for. Missing the vibrant and fresh taste of authentic Vietnamese cuisine, I was delighted by the Gỏi củ hủ dừa, or coconut core salad, which was absolutely delicious! The textures were perfect, and the flavors were bright and truly captured the essence of Vietnamese cooking. Located in a somewhat unassuming strip mall in the Tech Ridge area, stepping inside Bep Saigon reveals a casual and inviting diner feel, complete with an open kitchen. Throughout our meal, the staff was consistently attentive and kind, adding to the pleasant dining experience. We also shared the bun bo and pho. While these dishes leaned a little on the sweeter side for my personal preference, the quality of the ingredients was evident, and the portions were generous. This slight sweetness won't deter me, however, as I'm already looking forward to returning to Bep Saigon to explore their other specialties. The noodles maintained a pleasant crunch despite being coated in sauce. My mom thoroughly enjoyed the Bun Bo Hue, Banh Xeo, and the Mi Xao Don, which is a meaningful approval, especially from a Vietnamese mother. Despite the enjoyable food, the overall experience was somewhat marred by the slower service that day. We recently visited Bep Saigon Asian Restaurant, and it was an outstanding experience! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and eager to help with recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious and very fresh. The authentic Vietnamese dishes were packed with flavor, beautifully prepared, and served in generous portions. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. This restaurant is perfect for a family dinner, a date night, or a gathering with friends. It's clear that the owners take great pride in both their food and customer service. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisine and excellent service. ery good Vietnamese Chinese restaurant that manages to be both fusion and authentic. They have a lot of the typical dishes you'd expect to see from fusion style Viet-Chinese restaurants, but they also have a lot of dishes that are considered classics from each cuisine. The portions are fair for the price, definitely left me satisfied. Takes awhile for the food to come out but it's worth the wait. Nice ambiance - nothing too fancy but a good chill spot for lunch. This was my first time trying this little hole in the wall restaurant. It was amazing! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is relaxing. They are constantly cleaning, sweeping, sanitizing, and refilling your glass or the condiments on the tables. Our service was fast and efficient. We received our order quickly. The food was hot and delicious. Hope we can visit this place again. A little side note...the hot and sour soup and wonton soup were delicious! read more
