Poor Service and No Respect for Customers -- Twice Burned I bought my Mazda brand new from Berge Mazda in Gilbert, Arizona, expecting good service afterward. Unfortunately, both of my experiences have been terrible. Most recently, I booked my oil change and tire rotation online through Mazda's official site and arrived right on time. The employee told me it would take 2 1/2 hours, then added, "People make appointments but come whenever they want." If that's true, why even offer scheduling? Why not say, "First come, first serve!" They also admitted the Mazda online system "doesn't work right" and often doesn't sync with their schedule. Ok, then take it off your app!!! A previous visit was just as bad. They dropped me off at a mall while my car was being serviced, promised to call when it was done, and then forgot about me. After hours of waiting with a dying phone, I was about to call an Uber when they finally called -- and had to send an Uber to pick me up because the driver went 20 miles in the opposite direction for parts. Hardly an apology. I gave Berge Mazda a second chance -- big mistake. Another Mazda dealership nearby got me in immediately and treated me professionally. I have not had the best experiences with Mazda service departments in the area, and I decided to give Berge a try, even though it is a bit of a haul from my home. I am glad I did. From start to finish, it was a good experience, not pushy, but very professional. I had a basic service appointment (oil change and tire rotation) at 10:30am on a Saturday, which I expected to be super busy and chaotic, but it was calm and I was quickly greeted upon arrival. The service clerk quoted me 2-3 hours, so you can imagine my surprise when he called only 50 minutes later that the car was done! I received regular videos from the technician about my vehicle. While they showed me some things I am going to need, they didn't push for any unnecessary or untimely repairs, and my bill ended up just as expected. It was great to walk out being treated with respect and honesty - and way ahead of schedule! Even though Berge is a bit far for me, I will return here for my service needs. read more

To start off, I will travel very far for a good, fair deal. In this case, I flew from Charleston, WV to the Gilbert portion of Phoenix. I bought my daughter a 2022 Mazda CX-5 from Berge Mazda. My salesman, Rob, was very helpful. Rob sent me videos of both the inside and outside of the car and answered all my questions. His teammate Corey helped explain the fees and total price to cement my deal and secure my purchase with a deposit. After the agreement, John was great to work with in finance. I told him I did not want any warrantees or add-ons and he was nice about letting me know what they offered and why, transparently told me what the options would cost, and did not harass me when I politely declined. John also got me a finance deal that was better in rate and term than my preapproval from my credit union. Finally, on my day of pickup, John and his associate Brandon helped arrange my pickup. They went out of their way to make sure my trip was quick and easy. Rob offered to show me all the options of the car, but I was ready to hit the road. I drove the car from Gilbert to Oklahoma City day one and from Oklahoma City to Charleston, WV day two. When the alert for sensors went off during my drive, Robert was helpful in diagnosing that it was likely just bugs hitting the sensors. After a gas-up stop and inspection, he was right. I thought there was an issue with the oil pan and cleanout plug per another repair shop who recommended i take it back to Berge to fix. Initially spoke to Bel the service manager who was proactive out of the gate. Said bring it in and he would order as a backup any needed parts to hold in reserve. Just left the dealership this afternoon. met with Peyton Svedin, the service advisor, at the service dept who was top shelf out of the gate. I came in on a Saturday and spent quite a few hours with Julian. HE WAS FANTASTIC! I had corresponded with him via email several days prior - so by the time I arrived, he had the CX-5 and CX-50 pulled up next to one another, as those were what I was deciding between. Immediately I felt like the CX-5 was the one. In order to help me get the most bang for my buck, Julian suggested something I hadn't considered, the Carbon Edition. Well...I'm incredibly grateful he did because I wouldn't have normally considered it. I didn't walk away with the vehicle that day. I needed to sleep on it. I returned mid week and ending up sealing the deal! I absolutely love this vehicle!! Their financing and warranty department was very professional and assisted me with a great extended warranty. Once we wrapped up finance, Julian had the car parked outside with a bow. Inside, they had a gong, played my favorite song, and shot streamers It was very special because it's the first brand new vehicle purchase I've ever made. I have had 3 different CX-5's maintained at Berge Mazda over past 7 years. They tended to be more expensive than the local competition but I accepted it given the convenient location. However, during this most recent service at 55k miles, I scheduled an oil change only, but when my au pair drove the car in for service, they took advantage of her youth and convinced her to sign for up-charged coolant flush. Mazda's own maintainence schedule specifically states that coolant flushes for late model CX-5 are unnecessary until 120k miles, even under the more rigorous "schedule II" list for severe driving conditions. This was a pure money grab. What irked me even more was that my au pairs have driven the car in many times in the past, and they had to call me to authorize any additional repairs. But they specifically didn't contact me despite it being my car, my account, and my credit card they charged. Very shady business practice and very disappointed that they would pull this BS on a very long time customer. I get that they are trying to make money as a business, but this is frank dishonesty. read more

Things were off to a good start, everyone I spoke with was nice, and I felt that I was offered a fair price with the way the auto market it is right now. Sadly, things turned into a poor customer experience. After investing time in making a deal, and depositing $500 to hold a car, they ended up selling it the next day. I don't know if someone offered more money, or they just have poor organization, but it definitely left me disappointed. If a deposit doesn't mean anything, then why put one down? Seems like just to insure that the buyer comes in and closes the deal, but no responsibility towards the dealer. Hopefully for future customers, they won't repeat this experience. read more

I've always received good service and the best part is the techs now provide a quick video clip identifying issues and a check up. Service aside, Vince the service manager is incredible. This review is written after all work is completed by another dealership under warranty and I have nothing to gain by sharing this opinion. I brought my car to the service department of berge mazda with less than 100 miles on its extended warranty, confident that the transmission was failing. This wasn't a sudden realization. I had reported the issue on three separate occasions before this visit citing clunking noises while driving. Despite my concerns, the staff at berge kept my car for three days claiming to have extensively tested it and found no issues the service tech the car drove "beautifully" to Santan and back. After I left- My suspicions were confirmed with just an 11 mile and under 20 minute Drive to Horn mazda when they sent a video the same day showcasing necessary repairs that included a coolant leak, slipping belts, a need for a brake flush, and a left tensioner that required attention. This indicates a comprehensive failure in berge mazda diagnostic process. Thankfully, Horn Mazda completed the warranty repairs and provided a loaner vehicle. I did speak to the Burge Mazda, Service manager, the dealership manager and technician about this concern and had a phone call or two they explained it that all of these problems must have occurred in the 11 mile drive.
