Came here to kill some time while at the beach and while it was raining. Asked for a beer and the bartender was able to pop the top easily. Wanted something a little different after the beer so I asked for an Old Fashion. Bartender struggled midaley, but was drinkable. Looked at the menu and ordered a Grouper sandwich (recommended by the restaurant per the menu). Sadly, I wasn't impressed. Maybe eight, medium-small waffle fries (kind of crispy) and two grouper fillets that didn't even fill the bun up. First let me say the musical entertainment was great. Everything was downhill from there. We sat for 15 minutes before we had to flag the hostess down to find our waiter. He did apologize and said he didn't know he had a table. Our appetizer, which was nachos, arrived before our drinks. We then had to flag down another server to bring us water. Then had to flag down a manager to bring silverware and napkins. And then our beers arrived. The nachos were very basic and bland. I had the shrimp salad sandwich and my friend had the shrimp tacos. The shrimp salad was very disappointing... The shrimp were very small and there was very little flavor. Same with the tacos. Wish I had taken pictures... We did not finish our meals. First the pros- staff was super friendly and they have a fun little playground area w/ a faucet for kids to rinse feet off afterwards. Then the cons - terribly greasy food ( fish and chips must have been deep friend at least two times), and I had Mosquitos biting me the entire time while out on the back patio for dinner, killed at least two of the suckers.. Made me want to get out of there quickly, was not a good overall experience and will not recommend nor return, way to expensive for quality of food and they need to spray better for mosquitoes! read more

2 stars for the seating and bands but negative stars for the food Came on a Friday night and was really hungry. Ordered the chicken nachos... the word foul would be an accurate description. Something was not right about them, the chicken was insanely greasy, the chips were too almost like lard or something was thrown on there or something had spoiled. I was really surprised to learn this place only opened up a month ago. They've definitely got their s*** together! My family came here on our last day in Bethany after hearing good things about it all week. There was about a half-hour wait so we went to hang out at the large gazebo bar on the pond before being seated. Drink prices are really decent. My Mom and I got the Grapefruit Crush, which is a super refreshing grapefruit drink (obviously, from the name). Even though we were quoted a half-hour wait, we got buzzed to our table in less than twenty. The menu isn't extensive, but they've got a lot of great options. I had the pulled pork tacos, which were very good. I love the slaw and pico they put on them. I also really like that tacos just come with guacamole. Most restaurants don't do that. Everyone else really enjoyed their meals as well. My husband had the fish. My Dad had the fried chicken. My Mom also had tacos. I tried a few of my husband's fries. They have huge waffle fries that are really good. The service was really friendly and the atmosphere of the place was just really cool. A lot of people were there to watch the U.S. Women's Soccer Game. The open air layout of the restaurant is super nice. I can see how on hot days it might get a little toasty, but when we went it was later in the evening and was only about 75 degrees. It's a place I really want to go back and hang out at next year. I was really impressed with this place. We arrived around 10pm on a Friday night in August. We were done drinking so I got a hot, fresh cup of coffee. My tablemate got a smoothie which looked good. We shared the wonderfully-fresh, hot tortilla chips with guacamole. And we shared delicious, well-done (waffle) fries (with a nice dipping sauce). There was a musical duo playing, people dancing, lots of big TV screens with different sports playing. I'm an old person but there were lots of young people having fun. (There were some old people like me, too.) For you single guys out there, there were plenty of (what appeared to be) single women looking to dance with someone. Ah, to be young again ... I stopped by Bethany Boathouse after a nice day at the beach with my mom, sister, and friends. It surprisingly wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be, considering it was happy hour on MDW! I was not disappointed though! We got seats for all five of us near the outdoor bar and ordered our drinks, and very quickly I might add! Bethany Bouthouse really exceed my expectations. I've been a couple times before in small groups and always thought the food was pretty good. But the service was above and beyond when I came with my family, all 12 of us. We were able to do a 35 min call ahead which was a life saver when traveling with 5 kids. The hostess could not have been more patient with me when trying to make the reservation. We were seated immediately, all together, in a great spot in the restaurant and our server was AMAZING. She was so great with the kids, patient with our table, and when a couple of the orders didn't come out exactly as we expected, she and management handled immediately. Everyone was impressed with how the night went. Overall the food is awesome. The cheesesteak, of all things, is ridiculously good. The steamed shrimp is excellent, and really can't go wrong with their food. Overall I'd absolutely go back, would recommend for groups or smaller parties. Boathouse was awesome! read more
