It's old-school Seattle. It takes me back at least ten years. The servers are cool. There's country and punk music. The food is really good. The bathroom is tiny, no soap, someone didn't aim well peeing...which really is a Seattle dive experience. It's nice to be here on a visit after moving away. read more

New favorite breakfast spot! The outside is a total disguise, Beth's is a gem. My friend goes there regularly with her son and has said good things about it so we went for brunch and everything was amazing. The service was quick and friendly, the food was hot and cooked perfectly, the drinks were cold, I had zero complaints. I loved that they had a large selection of beverages, I was surprised they had pog juice (pineapple orange guava) which is one of my favorites. I ordered the breakfast burger and unexpectedly it was the best burger I've had in a long time! I loved their shoestring fries, their scrambled eggs were fluffy and moist, the pancakes were hearty. Yum! Overall I'd highly recommend this place and I'll absolutely be returning just based off of the staff's attitudes alone. They were really on top of it in the kitchen and foh. Beth's Cafe is a 24-hour diner that seems to be prospering in Seattle's waning grunge universe. They have been featured on the Food Channel for their extremely large 12-egg omelets. I have never personally mustered up the courage (or stomach) to try one, as I can barely finish one of their 6-egg omelets. Maybe some day I'll give it a go when I'm feeling extra hungry (or if 2-3 people want to share one with me). Ultimately, Beth's has solid breakfast food and a delicious six-fiddy milkshake that I get every time I come here. Easily the best diner in the Seattle area! The food is reasonably priced and you get HUGE portions. Anything from the breakfast menu is highly recommended (their omelets are legendary) but everything is great. It has a grungy, cool, and fun atmosphere with customer drawings all over the walls and a modern jukebox. Beth's is open 24/7 which is another massive plus. Beth's cafe is a local spot right on Aurora Ave- and if you've been a seattlite for enough time you know Aurora Ave isn't the most glamorous place to be- which speaks to some of the ambiance of Beth's. I can't deny the service was excellent, the employees were very kind and attentive. The most impactful thing about Beth's is the art work inside. To the right of the kitchen, you'll find an intriguing display of crayon depictions of past patrons experiences with Beth's, and what the diner means to them. I became engrossed in a crayon illustration pasted on the bar near the kitchen. There was a menu next to it that advertised a special called Amish Friendship Bread, that resembled the plaques in museums that name the artist and descriptions of the pieces. I'll include a photo of the illustration below- it is unknown whether the plaque is accurate, naming the piece Amish Friendship Bread, or One is Enough- the text written next to the face of the baby-faced man forced into the fetal position in what looks to be an egg yolk. One can't help but think what the inspiration behind the piece truly is, whether it came from a place of defeat of defiance. Is 'one is enough' speaking to a mental break, or a mental break through of realizing you have the power to decide what is truly enough. I've left the diner now, we're on the way home, but we just can't help but continue to ponder the conversation piece. I feel like a changed woman. Went here from a friend's recommendation and arrived around noon. There was a line and putting our name down, we had to wait around 15 minutes. They had a seating area inside near the bathroom so we sat there to wait. It was also a Pokemon Go stop so there were drawn pictures of Pokemon from guests all over the wall. This kind of goes throughout the whole restaurant so make sure to look around. We ordered the 12 egg omelet which came with unlimited hash browns, 2 piece toast, and if you share, there's a sharing fee. Did a build your own with bacon, mushroom, and green peppers. The omelet itself was huge and eggs tasted really nice. Was a bit disappointed after that. There wasn't that much filling and the green peppers were still kinda raw which I wish they were cooked a bit more. Hash browns were typically oily and buttered up. "SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUT UP!" This is perhaps the only place where the waitress can scream at the patrons and the other customers are actually grateful for it. We were seated next to a rowdy group mangling "Dancing Queen." Tone deaf and drunk? Not a good combo. I LOVE HER. - The 12-Egg Southwestern Omelette is still good and still really big, as are the bottomless hashbrowns. - The Epic Chocolate Cake is truly epic because it tasted like fudge. I did it. I attempted the twelve egg omelet challenge and just like Adam Richman, I failed just a bit more miserably than I thought possible. To be fair, I wasn't completely ready for the challenge as I was there at Beth's to cheer on my roommate and friend who decided a battle of the egg cartons was in store. They both hadn't eaten for hours before, whereas I just came from a tasty dinner of tuna curry. To put it simply: I was full. But when my friend accidentally ordered the Northwestern Exposure as opposed to her more desirable Southwestern Exposure... the former was shoved under my nose and I was forced into competition. What a mistake that was. Making it through the toast and hashbrowns wasn't too much of a daunting task, but those eggs - man, all those eggs! It was too much! Everything tasted fantastic, but this thought quickly falls to the wayside as you are shoving the same damn thing into your mouth over and over again. (Yes. That's what she said) Cream cheese is also another ingredient one should avoid if they are looking to consume mass quantities of food in one sitting. Leaving a solid 50% of the omelet still residing on top of the pizza pan, I sauntered off with my stomach as full as it has ever been. Ever. Me: "I will fork your tit any time baby..." (awkward silence ensues as we shoot sideways glances at our silverware) On our quest to get some food and watch NCAA basketball we ended up at Beth's Cafe. To me cafe is a misnomer, it's a no frills 24 hour diner, not a quaint little cafe as the name would suggest. The place has handmade drawings everywhere; some are drunken scrawls, some are truly works of art, and others downright weird or disturbing (see above). Being a 24 hour diner there's an interesting mix of people coming through the place. I got a grilled cheese *fancy* with a side of hashbrowns and Michael a burger *fancy* with a side of tots. I gathered fancy is anything other than American cheese and plain white bread. My meal was ok, the hashbrowns were a plenty, but a little too greasy for my liking. Michael seemed to like his burger. Some of the menu items seemed a bit overpriced to me for the type of place this is. Service was ok, but inattentive. We were seated quickly, but it took a while to place our order and we had to flag down drink refills. Our server left our check on the table shortly after the food arrived, never to be seen again. We finally figured out that if we wanted to pay, we had to go up to register since no one gave us a second thought as they passed our table. In their defense there is a sign above the register, we didn't notice it from our seat. They have a few interesting menu items including the Six Dollar Shake and a selection of 12-egg omelets (I hate eggs so thinking about that makes me ill). The shake has chocolate, peanut butter and brownies in it, I'm getting a cavity just thinking about it. Bottom line: Decent diner food, but errs on the pricey side for some items. read more

I am trying not to let the fact that I was stood up here sour my review. ;) Beth's is a must do for any Seattleite. People crawl here, taxi here, walk here from every bar in town and it does deliver. The place is an experience on its own. I wandered in sober, so I was already out of place. Staff is all very helpful and friendly, and the cooks are working fast and hard to keep up with a packed house. Wait for a table can be as long as 30 minutes, and everyone in your party must be present in order to snag one. I should mention that they did break this rule for me. By the time I'd been there an hour, I think this was due to pity. When I finally ordered, everything came out to perfection. The wait for food is a bit long, but very understandable. Bacon was crisp, toast was buttered, hash browns are HUGE, and egg was delicious. I loved their black tea, which came out with honey and a lemon (without me asking) and was refilled with hot water very promptly. Perks: a game room with rifle shooting game, old style arcade, and two pinball machines, friendly and helpful staff, no-frills atmosphere and payment (pay at the counter after you are finished eating), crayons and paper to color while you wait. I am really glad that we can not smoke in the restaurants anymore. Otherwise, being drunk/hangover and staying in a small space with smoke would probably make me even more sick. You come here to be yourself, and you might just encounter an independent film crew while eating your Full House and orange juice. So disappointed. I have been recommending Beth's for almost a year now and after today, I won't be anymore. I'm not sure if the service is supposed to be bad on purpose but if it is, they are doing a terrific job. We arrived at 2:30pm. Not busy at all. I was sat with my young daughter with no crayons or paper yet a table of adults nearby had them. Of course my daughter saw them and started to fuss. After 10 minutes or so, our server took our order. She kept talking over me; Let me tell you what I want! I requested cream for my coffee and crayons. She came back with crayons, no cream. 20 minutes goes by and I finally flag someone down to get cream. They gave me milk. Fine. I'll make do. My daughter asked for a black crayon and I tried to intervene saying, "No, that's okay. She doesn't need it." I could tell our server was getting irritated and didn't want to cause a problem. She came back with the color anyway and then snapped at my daughter, "Why did you need black?! You already have brown." I just said thank you and apologized and she walked away after handing it to me. And that was the last time I saw her. Our food was delivered 40 minutes after our order was taken by another server who also gave us our check with the food. We were clearly going to be forgotten as we were seated in the very back of the restaurant and we were. We never had someone check on us so I couldn't get anyone to fix our food (cold) or refill my coffee. We waited until about 4pm before someone came by to give me a refill on hash browns and boxes for our food to be reheated at home. I even said, "I think we've been forgotten. The service, is PERFECT for this type of place! The staff was very very friendly and responsive. They made one mistake -- bringing us an extra beverage by accident, and just left it on the table with a smile. The meals are so amazing. I had the corned beef hash, because I'm a sucker for corned beef hash. And this was the best I'd ever had. So full of spiced corned beef, with a few extra hits of herbs and spices that intrigued me. Beth's popularity sky rocked after it aired on Man vs. Food where Adam Richman attempted to eat their 12 egg southwestern exposure omelette. After arriving in Seattle, I knew I was going to attempted this "challenge". I ended up ordering a 12 egg omelette with sausage and cheese. Long story short, I FINISHED the entire thing (harsh browns and toast too), in 1 hour. Never in my life has my jaw been so tired of chewing and the taste of food seem so bland in my mouth. It was if my mouth was running a marathon and its "legs" went numb but I still continued to run towards the finish line. I think my friends and I sat at Beth's for a good 15 minutes after I finished so I could recover, then I asked my friend to drive the car as if he had an unbuckled baby in the back seat. Come one; Come all to this under-rated cafe. Sure, there is only street parking, it is between two bars and just from the looks of this cafe, you might need to have a tetanus shot after. Walking in we were greeted by the cook (who just might have been released from prison that day) and a waiter who grabbed some menus and seated up in the main dining room across from the vintage arcade area they have. The booths are very worn in as my seat needed to be patched. But at the same time, it was cozy. We were handed our "sticky" menus and asked if we would like some water. Had a chance to look over their menu which has their famous breakfasts (which is the omelette's that come with a choice of 6 or 12 eggs and all you can eat hash browns) sounds like too much for you well then they have the simpler breakfasts (eggs, pancakes, scrambles, and mini breakfast) if breakfast isn't what you're in the mood for then they also have burgers,hot sandwiches, hot dogs, soups and salads and even desserts. Our waiter returned with two glasses of water and some straws. We were ready to order as well. After trying to decide if my tummy could handle a huge amount of food this late at night, I opted for getting the mini breakfast: One pancake, two sausage links, two strips of bacon (which was extra) & one egg (scrambled) Had a chance to look around at all the art that past customers have left for the cafe. A lot of them were from coloring books and were a mix of old and new. Getting our food took awhile since Minh ordered a huge omelet, which took time to cook. I liked how our waiter come back to check on us before the food was delivered and even after. Finally, the main event arrived: The pancake was GIANT as it was half over my plate. My eggs were perfectly cooked and fluffy (no burn marks) bacon and links were greasy and wanting to jump into my mouth! I had no problem inhaling this heavenly breakfast! If that is your "situation" and "dilemma" then might I humbly suggest as a born and raised Seattleite, that you slide over to Beth's Cafe, and make your egg-filled-dreams come true for not-that-much-cash-money. A dive is what you find here, and one of the few true Seattle mainstays. It's on Aurora, and right next to one of the busiest parts of it. That's okay, because while you are waiting in line on a cool misty night, you can stare at the people inside, who are enjoying it, and hopefully you brought a friend, because when it's busy, it's BUSY. BUSY are the late night hours, and all weekend. It's okay to gawk, because quantity/quality is what awaits you. Sure, you get inside, and hunger is causing you to be a little delusional... so you should eat what? Well, they have an omelette named "The Triple Bypass" which contains Bacon, Sausage, Ham and a helping of cheese, also known as "my favorite thing to put stuff my face with," as well as "Northwestern Exposure" which is the second most favorite thing to stuff my face with.. and because Smoked Salmon, because Seattle. Honestly, I have never had anything other than the Omelettes here. If you want to eat something else, well.... I have nothing for you, because the LEGEND here is Omelettes. Also, It's not impossible to finish a 12 egg omelette, I've got two victories; but on my first try, it owned me: record stands 2 wins - 1 loss. Oh yes, you need something to help understand the immensity for your faithful decision... for if you picture... an EXTRA LARGE PIZZA PAN. Then imagine an omelette, the size of a football... or a bike helmet. Then a lump of hash-browns, the size of your MacBook Keyboard. Close your eyes (after you read this review) and imagine taking your fork, and slicing through 5 inches of food, the fillings just spill out, like no ones't business. I could say it's the history (my 65-year-old father used to go there when he was young and dare his friend to eat the 12-egg omelet). If you need a heavy, good, old-fashioned breakfast at 3 AM, you will be happy to learn breakfast is served 24-hours each day. You don't go to Beth's for the food, you come here for the scene. Awesome witty tattooed servers, noisy big mouths, loud music and art- I use the term art loosely. The walls are covered with random pieces of work. Once in a while you can spot a real masterpiece. Everyone gets along here. White, Black, Asian, Goth, Punk, Prep, Jock etc. It's like a big cafe version of The Breakfast club. The food isn't shabby. It's like Denny's but bigger portions and more grease. If you're down with supporting a local business and love diner food, by all means stop on in. There is a small parking lot in the back of the building but you usually can score parking close by if it's full. The "game room" has a couple pinball machines and the bathroom is near by. I hate that porcelain pot up on the step. I'd rather take a chance in getting a public urination ticket. Crowds start pouring in when the bars shut down and that early breakfast you wanted on the weekend isn't happening for at least and hour or more. Sweet potato fries are criss-cross cut and thin. Hashbrowns aren't dry and have a good texture. The cinnamon roll is tasty, however remind them to leave off melted margarine- you don't want to eat a mushy lump of dough. How on earth do you describe Beth's....Divey. Hole-in-the-wall. Colorful. Decent food. Don't expect the world when you come here. Expect that service is going to be so-so, it may not look the cleanest either. Ripped booths, colorings all over the walls, rock music blaring. What you will enjoy however is the sheer amount of food and options you have here. Breakfast at Beth's is legit. Most come for the omelets. 6 or 12 eggs is your only options...you will certainly not go home hungry....especially that they offer unlimited hash browns. Yes, you heard me...unlimited hash browns. Add some of their awesome friendship bread and you got yourself a meal. Yes, you have seen this crazy place on Man Vs. Food, the Travel channel, etc. Why? Because it's just one of those places you have to experience for yourself. The southwestern exposure omelet with their house made chili is awesome. I have lived in King county since 2009 and have heard about Beth's Cafe and their famous 21 egg omlet years before that, yet haven't made a trip out until 2013. Came here looking for a big dinner breakfast, and that's exactly what I got. Okay, so a lot of the negative reviews are about the quality of the interior. It's a delecious old school diner, what do you expect? The old furniture and customer drawn pictures all over the wall gave the place a nice diner feel, which I personal want from this kind of breakfast. My boyfriend and I both ordred our diner usuals, french toast combo for me & pancake combo for him, plus a side of hash browns. Holy moly was this a lot of food. We realized we could of ordered half of the food and still had left overs. We both enjoyed the fact that our coffee was never less than half full. I will be back! read more

I think the term "greasy spoon" is over used, but this place fits that description. The food was great, the service was good and I would definitely go back. I had a 6 egg omelet and it was enormous, mostly because it came on top of about 1.5 pounds of hashbrowns (which were excellent, nice and crispy) and toast. I can eat a lot and I still only got through half of it. I highly recommend! Beware that parking is in short supply. P.S. order something with bacon, it was perfetly cooked, thick and crispy. read more
