Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because they had this music machine and it looked real but it wasn't so I ended up getting my quarter stuck in it and it was just a hassle. Went for breakfast on a rainy Monday Morning in July. Had the Two eggs, two pancakes special with bacon, sausage, home fries and toast. Eggs were so-so, home fries and bacon soaked in grease. Sausage was OK but had too much pepper added. Pancakes were so tough, I had to literally saw off each piece of pancake with the butter knife supplied. Managed to down one of two pancakes before I gave up. The allure of the 1950's retro Diner decor couldn't overcome the disappointing food quality. Also, cash only. read more

Nice little throwback diner on Main Street in Falmouth, MA. We had lunch and the servings were ample. Service was friendly and efficient. The clam chowder was delicious, the BLT very good, and the cole slaw homemade (very unusual for a diner). Many of the diners appeared to be locals, which is always a good sign. I look forward to having breakfast here. A couple of minor quibbles: Though we were seated quickly it took a while for our orders to be taken. You can't beat the old-fashioned ambiance. Very good breakfast. Other meals are typical diner fair - pretty good but nothing to write home about. Service has varied from super to okay. But definitely worth eating there from time to time for the experience. And don't put coins in the fake diner radio boxes as I did, tho' the waitress was very nice about returning my lost quarters! :-) read more

Easily one of the most overrated eateries I ever visited. I used to look forward to my family trips to Falmouth b/c we could go to Betsy's...no more. They have clearly become a victim of their own press clippings. What used to be a solid value for my hard earned dollar has now become an overpriced underwhelming experience. On my most recent and last visit, the waitress was unpleasant and seemed to be bothered by my request for decaf. The food took much too long to be delivered considering the sparse crowd. The waitress seemed to be more interested in her conversation behind the door to the kitchen than she was in delivering our food. The servings are now much less than they used to be and the prices have skyrocketed. I guess they feel comfortable charging more and serving less. Did you know if you split a meal and request an extra plate, they will charge you for the empty plate?!? Outrageous! To top it off, the moment you walk in the door you are slapped in the face with a laundry list of rules: no cellphones (I kept mine on the table and used it often out of spite), no sitting unless your whole party is in the building (difficult considering the small parking lot) which clogs up the traffic at the front door, etc. Maybe they think it's fun to be rude and overpriced - part of the New England diner culture? - but I think it's simply crap. Judging by the shrinking crowds, I'm probably not alone in my displeasure. Save yourself time, money and aggravation - go 1/2 a mile down the street to the little diner behind the Dairy Queen. Went for breakfast, it was very busy. I ordered pancakes with a side of bacon. My sister ordered scrambled eggs with sausage and it came with french toast. Well had to wait a while for the breakfast to come. It didn't come out together. My pancakes came out first they where dark brown almost like it was left on the stove too long very hard not fluffy at all then the bacon came out you get 3 little pieces. Then the french toast came, not a fan of the italian scali bread as french toast. Her eggs came out next and they were runny, and on top of that she ordered sausage not bacon and so we had to return that. Also they left the back door open and there was little fruit flies tiny annoying. I really expected a good homemade old fashion breakfast. I think the french toast should of been on old fashion white bread and the pancakes which I didn't think you could mess up needs to change. Place looks dirty even for a diner. Chili was definitely homemade and overall pretty good, but not great. The hot dog was good but the grilled bun wasn't grilled very well (mushy) and you could tell from the debris on the bun that it wasn't grilled on a clean surface. Love diner food and Betsy's Diner did not disappoint. However, we were served by the most unpleasant woman that I have EVER been served by in my life! Having been in the restaurant business myself for most of my adult life, I will say that if she had been my employee I would have been telling her to get an attitude adjustment really fast or else leave! Maybe the bun on top of her head was too tight? Or maybe it was all the tattoos that were causing some discomfort, I am not sure, but it was 100% obvious that she was angry with everyone of the customers she needed to serve, and I know this because I sat at the counter and was lucky enough to overhear her ugly comments about each and every one of them, as though her unfriendly, angry demeanor did not make it clear. My husband and I were in Falmouth for the long weekend. We ate at Betsy's three times. All three times the place was jammed packed. Dispite that the service was fast and the food was great! Not impressed with the manager/host, very unprofessional , he'd be better suited not dealing with the public. Although that's typical for restaurant managers. We'll definately be back! read more

Unfortunately this review is not on the food because we did not even get a chance to try it. My daughter has Celiac disease (allergic to gluten which includes most breads and pasta) and we have been accustomed to bringing her own food to restaurants who do not offer gluten-free menus. She will usually bring something non-descipt as to not bring attention to herself like a PB & J on gluten-free bread. The sign on the outside of this "restaurant" says "no outside food allowed". We have seen this before but when we explain our situation, they usually understand and let us in. When we tried to explain this here, we were told to "read the sign". When we asked to speak to the manager, the greeter told us not even to bother because the owner says to NEVER let anybody in with their own food no matter what! Needless to say we walked out. We are always 20-25% tippers and very rarely complain, but I would never recommend this establishment based on this. read more

went there on a late Monday morning for breakfast, sat at the counter. First I sat there waiting for a good 10 minutes (no one else at counter and only a couple of tables) before being acknowledged . One server was standing behind the counter eyes glued to smart phone. My server finally gave me coffee and took my order. Then she stood right in front of me, grab a fork out of her silverware bin and begun to start scratching her back with it. My food came and the server once again right in front of me pulled out a pill vile and proceeded to take "medication" right in front of me, another server came over and they were bad mouthing the management where I and anyone else that was in the restaurant could here. I asked for a to go box and left. I have been in the restaurant business for 30 years and never had a staff behave like that. the food was fair so that is the reasoning for the 2 stars.
