It's Fri-yay, and I did not have any coffee to make at home, so I decided to stop by Better Buzz on the way to work. I also happened to have enough points for a free regular drink in my account, so that was certainly a bonus. The bright lights and cute signage of the shop beckoned to me, and I knew that I was at the right place. There was no line at the drive-thru when I arrived at about 7:40am. I ordered a Banana Pudding Best Drink Ever (with two shots) and a Chili Crunch Wrap. The cashier was quite a good salesperson, as she inquired, "Would you like to add a chocolate chip cookie to your order?" I had to laugh a little at that one, because as much as I would have loved to say, "Yes, I would like a chocolate chip cookie at 7:40 in the morning." It would be a very bad idea for my metabolism. So anyway. I drove around and my drink and wrap were ready and she requested that I pay $13 something dollars. I asked if that was the correct amount, and she said, that "it looks like tax on the wrap." I asked her to check again, and she realized that I was being charged for the shots which should have been free. So she adjusted the price to $10 something which was the price of the wrap and tax. She seemed a little huffy, but oh well. I added a tip and headed off to work... and I arrived on time! The Banana Best Drink is certainly tasty. It had the right amount of sweetness, and the banana and espresso complement each other well. I enjoyed this drink today, but due to the calorie content and sugar in it, I'd only have one of these as a once-in-a-while treat. My wrap was good as usual. I would appreciate more chili crunch flavor in it, but overall, it was a tasty, and not too unhealthy way to start the morning. I think Better Buzz is a great coffee spot option in our area, and their rewards program is excellent. Thanks, Better Buzz! read more

I adore Better Buzz. Their drinks are always good. I've also tried some of their food. The avocado toast is delicious! Their staff is always so helpful and friendly. Today I went through the drive through and ordered a matcha. My barista so nice and let me customize it by adding banana foam. Then when I picked up my order at the window she gave me a free cookie. She was just the absolute sweetest! This location is also a perfect hangout spot. It has nice outdoor seating to people watch all the good looking people walking in PB. Came here about 1 hour before close just to grab some of the new drinks and food :). The coconut macadamia best drink ever and breakfast carnita tacos are so dang good!! The drink was refreshing and felt like i was on a tropical island. I had my doubts about the tacos but oh my goodness are they good. Needed a pick me up and was pretty impressed with Better Buzz. I ordered the Best drink ever in maple which is a fall staple, and it is perfectly sweet and gave me the caffeine boost I needed. Love this Better Buzz in PB West! The vibe is always chill and the drinks have been so good lately.Tried the new honey lavender matcha and it's super smooth and not too sweet. The honey lavender latte is honestly one of my favorites right now, sooo good. And the banana pudding drink?? It literally tastes like dessert, obsessed. I remember when Better Buzz felt like a small local favorite and now it feels like a corporate, big box - behemoth. The push to upsell food items is almost laughable. The initial greeting is something like "hey, what food items can we start you out with today?" This is presumptuous and annoying and presume that I don't know my own mind. Then, I state my order, ticking all of the boxes for effeciency. "I would like a regular hot latte with regular milk and no extra shots." That should be the end, but I am still prompted to buy a cookie or a pastry or an açai bowl. Today, I finally asked to speak to a manager, who told me that their supervisors will stand around the corner to ensure that employees are pushing these items and they're reprimanded if not. She said that the employees hate it and the customers complain, but there's nothing that she can do if they want to keep their jobs. We live in a world where advertisers are hitting us online, in stores, outside stores and the push to sell more shit is omnipresent. I am voting with my dollars and I will not be back to Better Buzz. I will go to independent coffee houses in the area - even Starbucks. At least when I give my order to the barista's at Starbucks they listen. Dear Better Buzz, do better. read more

What a fun spot! The outside swings were quite the vibe. I did not grab any snacks but their coffee menu is solid. The employee that took my order was really helpful with answering my questions; I got the snickerdoodle latte decaf with oat milk. It was recommended to me to get it half sweet (which you can adjust sweetness on all beverages) and I'm glad I did, because the sweetness level was perfect. There are lots of tables, chairs, barstools to work or study from but me and my pup enjoyed our sweet treats on the patio swings. read more

Nice coffee shop great idea but not real helpful to walk in customers. We had to wait awhile to be waited on by the staff. Got our drinks and they seem somewhat empty open the lid and observed they did not fill the cup as the photo shows . Paid for the large drink but was served the regular size in a larger cup. Asked to have drink extra hot it didn't happen. I would not visit this store again. I was really disappointed as we were told this was a great coffee shop. read more

What can I say about this place, only that this place has totally made my day. I was on a walk with my sister. Do you want to grab a little cup of coffee? It was almost 9 PM when they're about to close I walked in and the team not on only serve me, but welcome me with open arms. I know what it feels to have those last customers walking into a store right when you're closing up and being those people you look at with a dirty face. As with all of PB parking is a struggle depending on the time you show up.

Because I knew I wouldn't eat it all in one sitting I asked for the ranch dressing on the side when I called it it. The lady who answered said, no problem, we'll have that ready in 6 minutes! Amazing! I was starving so this was great news. When I walked in she had it ready for me and then all I had to do was pay at the register. Now for the taste, wow. At first I thought this was going to be a cold wrap with like cubed chicken. I was pleasantly surprised when I felt a warm bag. When I open the wrap it had little grill marks on it, they press it in the panini and warm it up! It made it 10x better and the chicken was warm too and sliced. Avocado, lettuce, cheese etc. yum! There was two of us and we ordered two iced lattes and a quiche + an açaí bowl. Breakfast was around $39. Service was quick. The lattes were good and the quiche was great! Açaí bowl was very good as well with a strong honey flavor. The cafe is cute and feels like exactly what you would expect of a San Diego cafe near the beach.

The latte was fine, but it took quite a while to come out, although it didn't seem terribly busy. Maybe I just caught them at a bad time, but it didn't leave me with the best impression.

Based on other comments and the AI summaries I saw on Yelp and Google, it was recommended that I order ahead which is exactly what I did and it was a fairly easy and a quick system. It looks like their weekly menu keeps changing which is a both a good thing and a bad thing because you get to try new things but may not always get to eat your favorites again. I pre-ordered on a Thursday for a pick up on Friday and they were already out of their seasonal Black Forest Bun which sounded delicious. After scrolling through the menu multiple times, I decided to get the Pistachio Strawberry croissant and the Kouign Amann. When I arrived at the store, I immediately noticed the pre-order pick up window and was so glad that I wasn't standing in what seems to be on atleast a 25-30 line which I though was crazy for a weekday morning. The staff that gave my order was so friendly and it was so quick. What's great is they hold your order for atleast 24 hours in case you're unable to pick it up. There is some seating in the patio but honestly it's not meant for sitting and enjoying the pastries because there aren't really any tables but only seating. So it's best to pick up and take it home or eat by the beach which is what I did. The place is cute with a lot of plants and good vibes though. Since they don't warm up the croissants , I was worried that it wouldn't taste good while eating it at the beach but I was absolutely wrong. The Kouign Amann was okay, I'd give it a 4/5. The Pistachio Strawberry croissant however, was so absolutely delicious I'd give it a 5/5 even though it wasn't warmed up, it had the perfect amount of sweetness. It's easily one of the best croissants I've ever had. Overall this place has absolutely delicious pastries, but I'm not sure if I'd stand in a 30 mins line, maybe 10-15 mins, so good for them to have the pre order system.

Heard many testimonies of the wonders of Wayfarer, so this was a must-see on our San Diego…read morestaycation day trip. Turns out it was just as whimsical and quaint as the name of the bakery would make it seem, from the pet freindly atmosphere to the passion fruits hanging from the overhead trestle! As a tip, order ahead for pickup! Wayfarer opens its doors at 8 am, with online pickups avaliable as early as 9 - 9:15am. We walked right up, passed the already growing line, and enjoyed our breakfast. Truly the only way to skip waiting in line; going early won't cut it! We got three different croissants, as well as a baguette. Can't go wrong with the original, but the standout (to me) was the almond, with a crunchy top and stuffed with almond filling (think marzipan!). Perfectly balanced, and the almond, nor the sweetness, was not too overpowering. The Kouign-Amann had a crunchy, sugary shell. Almost like a creme brulee topping on a croissant. Sticky, but so delicious. Also shoutout to the baguette! One of the best I've had. Next time I'll have to bring some fruit, cheese, and honey. Wayfarer's vibes transported me to a community garden in Santa Cruz, and the tastes and techniques to Europe. Good thing it's inconvenient to get here from UC San Diego or else I'd be here much more often.
