What a fun spot! The outside swings were quite the vibe. I did not grab any snacks but their coffee menu is solid. The employee that took my order was really helpful with answering my questions; I got the snickerdoodle latte decaf with oat milk. It was recommended to me to get it half sweet (which you can adjust sweetness on all beverages) and I'm glad I did, because the sweetness level was perfect. There are lots of tables, chairs, barstools to work or study from but me and my pup enjoyed our sweet treats on the patio swings. read more

I remember when Better Buzz felt like a small local favorite and now it feels like a corporate, big box - behemoth. The push to upsell food items is almost laughable. The initial greeting is something like "hey, what food items can we start you out with today?" This is presumptuous and annoying and presume that I don't know my own mind. Then, I state my order, ticking all of the boxes for effeciency. "I would like a regular hot latte with regular milk and no extra shots." That should be the end, but I am still prompted to buy a cookie or a pastry or an açai bowl. Today, I finally asked to speak to a manager, who told me that their supervisors will stand around the corner to ensure that employees are pushing these items and they're reprimanded if not. She said that the employees hate it and the customers complain, but there's nothing that she can do if they want to keep their jobs. We live in a world where advertisers are hitting us online, in stores, outside stores and the push to sell more shit is omnipresent. I am voting with my dollars and I will not be back to Better Buzz. I will go to independent coffee houses in the area - even Starbucks. At least when I give my order to the barista's at Starbucks they listen. Dear Better Buzz, do better. read more

Highlight: Almond Butter & Jam Toast sub sourdough and Cucumber Mate Lemonade The toast tasted like a P&J sandwich, but with almond butter so the nutty consistency texture is about the same. I'm not sure what bread it normally comes with because they ran out but I liked the sourdough it got substituted with. The drink tasted a little bit more refreshing than cucumber water with the added lemon. Overall not very sweet. Hospitality: Ordered from the drive-thru and didn't get a chance to check out the interior but service was fast. The order attendant was pretty patient with us as we had to take some additional time changing our order due to items being out of stock. There are three different Better Buzz locations in Pacific Beach, but out of all of them I would choose this spot to go to for the ambiance! The place is very clean and open so I great place to grab a coffee. If you have to focus on work, I would not recommend it here because the music and be loud and when it's busy and everyone is having a conversation, it gets incredibly loud. We ordered the 3-seed avocado toast, the Lavendar tea latte, and the orange matcha latte (not pictured). I will say that the prices are a little steep for what I think the value is, but not too far off from what I would expect in Pacific Beach. The toast itself had good flavor, but the bread was not actually toasted, which I would've expected based on the name. The Lavendar tea latte also had good flavor. I asked the cashier to adjust the sweetness to 15% when I ordered, and after I ordered the barista flagged me down to let me know that they could not actually do that with this beverage, but at that point the line was too long to reorder. It would've been nice if the cashier was more knowledgeable. The orange matcha latte also had good flavor, but tasted very watered down. I think I will stick with a normal latte or coffee next time I come here. read more

I think I've been to all the better buzzes around town and this one does not really stand out. I don't drink coffee so I cannot rate the coffee, but I like the chai lattes here, the smoothies, and the toasts. The last time I came here, which was in the fall, I got a chai and an elote toast. The elote toast was yummy, and very reminiscent of actual elote. I believe it was a temporary menu item since guy who took my order wasn't sure if they still had the ingredients. I usually get the three seed avocado toast though. The toast is really hard to eat with plastic utensils since it is hard with lots of toppings. The food here can be messy. I usually go through the drive through for convenience after coming home from the beach. The drive through is small and it is difficult to exit the drive through because of the busy street. read more

Went to SD for the weekend and am so glad that we stopped here for a quick refresher! I got the lavender latte with coconut milk and it was absolutely delicious. The coffee was creamy and sweet and not overly too much flavor, but it wasn't too subtle where you couldn't taste it. I will definitely be recommending to anyone heading San Diego, and am definitely going to be putting coconut milk in all my lattes from here on out! read more

Unpopular Opinion: I am not a big fan Better Buzz, especially the Pacific Beach West location. While the atmosphere is trendy and unique to each store, I find their drinks to be watered down coffee-esque beverages with lots of flavored powders. On my most recent visit, I ordered their drip coffee in hopes it would be better than their typical drinks that seem more geared towards children. I was in disbelief. It looked as if they used one teaspoon, or less, of grounds for the entire 16oz beverage. It was essentially water mixed with milk. My acai bowl came with two containers and I initially assumed the employees had placed it there out of consideration to possibly prevent condensation. However, when I threw away the empty container that was underneath the actual acai bowl, I learned that it was not in fact out of consideration, but laziness. The container that was holding the acai had cracks all across the bottom. Instead of remaking the bowl to ensure customer safety, they simply put another container underneath. I really hope the cracks were not from the bowl falling on the ground because that is extremely unsanitary! I am not entirely sure if I am wrongfully assuming Better Buzz is a coffee company or if the popularity behind this business solely comes from Instagram / TikTok influencers. read more

I visited the PB Better Buzz to have my order remade after speaking with the Encinitas manager, and once again I had an amazing experience thanks to Keanu. I come to this location often, and every single time I'm here, Keanu stands out with his incredible customer service. He's always genuine, friendly, and patient, and you can tell he really enjoys what he does. He made the process so easy, even though the situation wasn't something the PB store had been involved in originally. He handled everything with kindness and professionalism, and it reminded me why this location is my go-to. Cannot live a hot afternoon without some ice coffee. Got a coconut flavor and a hazelnut flavor. The coffee was decent. The only thing is that it was too sweet for me. I should is have asked for light sugar or no sugar. The shop has both indoor and outdoor seating. There is even 2 swings! The vibe was relax. It's pretty close to Pacific beach so you'll see people wearing shorts and bikinis chatting and laughing besides coders having their noise cancellation headphones on and zoning in whatever they are working on. This is my first time at this location. The workers here are really good at up selling their current promotions. I came on Monday and they suggested the chocolate protein acai bowl. I'm not a acai fan so I asked for another recommendation and Ciara suggested the ham and cheese with an added egg and it was so good. She also recommended the banana pudding best drink and it was also great. I had a wonderful experience here! I came in early morning shortly after they opened and ordered their avocado toast and a coffee. It was delicious, although I could've used a little bit of salt (unfortunately, they didn't have any packets). The staff were super friendly and helpful too. She saw me in line and immediately began making my drink (she remembered that also!) and had it ready right as I got to the register. Very disappointed Better Buzz. Went there last night to get an OG açai bowl and paid $10 for it and all I got was a half filled container with nothing but granola? Minimal acai and minimal fruit, in fact there wasn't even any bananas in it. Drove all the way and was left mad.
