I was extremely impressed with the selection of the food on the menu. Their house made beignets came out perfect, fresh in hot and with an incredible matcha topping to put on it. I ended up getting the duck confit waffles for my main meal and they were amazing! Duck was cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of crisp and full of flavor and seasoning, and the waffle was also very flavorful and cooked perfectly as well. The house made guava syrup for the waffles was such a pleasant surprise! 10/10 def recommend and can't wait to go back and try! IG reels lured me with the beignets but the other dishes kept me coming back. Came here twice for brunch and the food/service were consistently on point. I swear the beignets were made from mochi flour because they're extra bouncy and loved eating them with both the sesame and matcha dipping sauces together. I've also had the fried maitake (texture of soft shelled crab if you didn't know it was mushroom), breakfast tartine, curry hamburg, steak and eggs, and mushroom chasuke. The curry was too overpowered by the tomato and pepper taste imo, but you honestly still can't go wrong with any of the menu items! The service was great, attentive, and friendly- they answered and questions we had with the menu. The restaurant was very laid back, and we loved the aesthetic and their vintage beet can wall by the bathroom. My friends and I each got our own lattes- the Hojicha, Matcha Tiramisu, and the Butterscotch Matcha. All of the drinks were fairly good, i liked the Matcha Tiramisu the most. My Hojicha Latte was good, but i had to make it sweeter (the menu does say that it is lightly sweetened). I got the Beef Sando and it was really good, that itself makes me want to go back. My friends got the Chunky Avocado Toast with Salmon and the Curry Hamburg. I didn't try their's but they did say they liked their food and would also come back. Still so good, and a little improved, they got the salt level down a little and it was perfect this time. It was super busy on a Sunday for brunch, totally different vibe from the weekday. We came here for the beignets, but was pleasantly surprised by the Latke Eggs Benedict and service. We were seated in 15 minutes even though we arrived to a long line around 12pm on a Saturday afternoon. The host and staff are very attentive throughout your visit. The restaurant has a lot more seating than you would expect. Walkways can be narrow in between the bar and side tables, but you're far from getting bumped or jostled by foot traffic. The beignets came out first served hot with a pillow-y/chewy texture. They were good on their own, but dipping in the matcha and black sesame mascarpone made it even more enjoyable. I preferred the matcha as it was not as sweet while the black sesame has a nuttiness to it. I absolutely love the hollandaise sauce because it was delightfully tangy. Each bite was well balanced with the crunch of the latke, freshness from the microgreens, and umami from the smoked salmon. They had regular matcha or an option to add strawberry or mango puree. Little sweet-tart if you want the strawberry, sweet if you want the mango. I'm not a hardcore matcha fan but I do drink it here time to time (mostly iced) and will say their matcha was good and tasted chocolaty-earthy than umami-earthy. Went for the mango matcha and was happy with this choice - earthy, refreshing, and sweet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND MUSHROOM CHAZUKE ($19.00) - Seasonal mushrooms (Maitake, Shiitake, King Trumpet), Koshihikari rice, mushroom dashi, perilla seed, garlic chips, chives. THIS WAS SO GOOD! If you can eat a brothy dish on a hot sunny humid San Diego morning and feel satisfied... then you know it was worth the extra perspiration. So eloquent in flavor and savory to slurp. This is an inspiring Japanese dish with a very clean touch. There is option to add a protein such as the fish of the day but I went with it as is and was surprisingly very happy and satisfied. The broth was light in mushroom and umami flavor, the melody of mushrooms paired well with the brothy rice, and the crispy garlic fragments added for flavor and texture. However I didn't enjoy the garlic as much because they were kind of burnt and bitter, I'd say 75% of them were pushed to the side of the plate and not consumed. I really enjoyed the mushroom rice the most and my friend really liked the French omelette. The US Rice had everything I wanted: some fried chicken, some sausages, japanese omurice, etc. and best of all, it doesnt have that American saltiness! I asked our waitress for an update 30 minutes in but all she did was apologize for the wait and asked us if we wanted to order anything, like a parfait, while we wait. I said no bc I didn't want to be full before my real meal, but also I wondered if she would've comped the parfait if she I said yes. I saw what looked like the manager in the back of the place talk to a server and pointed to our table. We waited some more. The manager never came up to us to apologize despite other parties getting their food and leaving before us even though we sat down first. What also disappointed me was that my friends' food came way before mine so by the time my curry came, everyone had already finished eating and my appetite was gone. My friend got the mushroom soup and it was delicious and homey. It felt like a mother's cooking. My curry was pretty good too. The beignets were our favorite thing that we got, definitely a must here. I think I'll come back and try this place again bc I did enjoy the food but hopefully they improve their service times! read more

The lady finger was honestly the best part after being dipped into the matcha. The beignets were pretty good but nothing to write home about. The steak was mediocre and i probably wouldn't order it again. The egg on top of the Curry Hamburg was light and fluffy but the whole meal was room temperature when it came out and I even checked for steam and saw none at all. The flavor of the curry was good and I enjoyed it more when I took it home and heated it up myself.The service was pretty slow but there were only two servers. I got the eggs benedict latke and it was delicious, one of the eggs wasn't poached and the potato was a little thick but other than that it was delicious!
