When we got there at 11:30 it was quite empty, but by the time we left it was nearly full--a popular spot, and we could see why. We were rather pleasantly surprised at how upscale it looked in here--all cloth napkins, white tablecloths, and a recently renovated-looking interior with lots of dark wood. There were lots of options on their lunch special menu, which they even have on the weekends, and even more on their regular menu. I had the paneer tikka masala lunch special and the hubby had the saag paneer lunch special. All the lunch specials come with rice, salad greens, lentil soup, naan, a mini samosa (on attractive metal serving ware), along with self serve coffee and chai. At $16.95 as of this writing, we thought it was a great deal. The hubby and I shared our food and thought it was very good overall. I thought the saag was a touch too salty but it didn't mean I hated it. They do serve alcohol here, although we didn't imbibe on our visit. As for parking, they have a small front parking lot and a larger back lot (which we weren't aware of until our friends told us). If you want good Indian food with very attentive service in a slightly upscale setting, this is a good choice.

We finally visited BHOOKE, a Rajasthani restaurant in Los Angeles, after hearing about it from friends while living in San Diego, and it did not disappoint! I opted for the Maharaja Thali, which offered a fantastic combination of traditional Rajasthani dishes. Each component, from dal bati to churma--my absolute favorite--along with laapsi, khaddi, gatte ki sabzi, mirchi ke tapore, and lasun ki chutney, was delightful. We left feeling completely satisfied! Anshul, the owner, was incredibly friendly, adding to the warm atmosphere of the restaurant. This was my first experience with authentic Rajasthani cuisine in America, and I was impressed by the extensive menu featuring various delicacies typical of Rajasthan. The restaurant itself is a nice size, making it comfortable for dining. Dal Bati enthusiasts should absolutely make a trip here, as the dish is freshly made and incredibly flavorful. The pricing is reasonable, and the service is both fast and attentive. Every visit feels like a home away from home, thanks to the welcoming staff and consistently fresh food. While some customers have mentioned concerns about portion sizes, I found the thali more than adequate for one person. Sharing might reduce portions per person, so it's best to order based on your group's needs. I highly recommend giving BHOOKE a try; I would drive back from San Diego to explore more of the menu! Emphasizing food smoked over charcoal, directly from the clay tandoor, Punjabi BBQ & Cafe is just as good as it's sister restaurant. Chicken 65 & Fish Tikka tacos- Punjabi BBQ & Cafe has an Indo-Mexican fusion section of the menu, with tacos, burritos & quesadillas. Chicken 65 is similar to popcorn chicken, and had great heat from moist chicken. The Fish Tikka was not overcooked, and when dipped in the included salsa & green sauce, packed with flavor. Keema Naan with gravy (chicken)- Keema Naan is naan stuffed with seasoned minced meat. Topped with a dollop of butter, it comes with a bowl of chicken in rich gravy and sliced red onions. Very filling! Had to take most of this home. The Keema Naan was a hearty, stick to your ribs entree. The chicken was easy to tear apart, and combined with the naan, onions, and a dousing of gravy, a joy to the senses with each bite. Afghani Malai Chicken Tikka & Haryali Chicken Tikka- The highlight of the visit, the skewers of chicken were a hit. The Haryali Chicken Tikka was tender, juicy & spiced well. The Afghani Malai Chicken was a tad dry, but with the addition of tamarind or mint chutney, pleasing to the palate. To end the meal, a glass of refreshing & sweet mango lassi was perfect on a hot mid 90's August day. In addition, a piping hot cup of masala chai during the meal was a soothing palate cleanser between bites. Service was good. The wait wasn't too long for the food to be ready. A good amount of table seating inside, Punjabi BBQ & Cafe is just a few buildings south of Curry Lounge. Parking is metered street parking (free on Mondays), residential parking or at paid parking lots/structures in the area. The owners of Curry Lounge have opened another great restaurant in Little India. Punjabi BBQ & Cafe has most of the same menu, but specializes in grilled meat from the tandoor oven. I look forward to coming back, having the difficult task of deciding whether to eat at Punjabi BBQ & Cafe, or at good ol' Curry Lounge. Either way, it's a win. Highly recommend!

They loosely packed the plastic container with the biryani and the cost of $18 (with tax) was a bit high for my wallet for the quantity i received. Also, i was expecting more raita , but a tiny container with the yogurt disappointed me.
