Strangest experience ever. Walked in at 5 on a Friday and did not have a reservation. Lots of open tables. The hostess looked over her open tables and then said well we have a reservation coming in at 6 so you have an hour to eat. Really?!? I have never been told this ever. Most of the delay to turn tables over has to do with the kitchen and the wait staff.... But now that's on me as the customer??? I get asking walk ins to sit at the bar or even if you told me you didn't have a table. Which I would have disputed at 5pm with a ton open but to tell me I have an hour is so ridiculous. I begin with the remodeling of what Bibinger's is in relation to the former Emily's. It's obvious a tremendous amount of time and effort was put in to transforming what had been a dated and cramped facility into a very inviting place to gather with friends. The new bar and dining area are incredible in comparison to what had been. As I continue my review I wish I could only be as positive about the rest of the experience. The drink menu is what I consider to be overpriced. In particular I refer to the $7 "old fashioned" that is purported to be the house specialty. The brandy is Korbel which is fine but certainly not a high quality brandy deserving of a higher price. I've had old fashioneds hand muddled which these did not appear to be. Basically a $7 drink made by a 20 something bartender with no apparent specialty drink making experience. This is rural West Bend, not downtown Milwaukee and the price should reflect as such. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer and I would equate them to being no different than what you would expect to get at the County Fair. I ordered the Bibinger burger (half pound burger on a pretzel bun) cooked medium. Bibinger's has not been open long and I noted initial yelp reviews expressed the burgers are overcooked. I can say my medium ordered burger was extremely well done to the point of the meat drying out There was not a hint of pink. My pretzel bun was toasted to a little beyond(slightly burnt) what a toasted bun should be. I recognize the well doneness of a burger can be somewhat subjective but I think with other reviewers expressing the same thing the preparation needs to be reevaluated before customers are lost. I can say our server, Karlee (I think) was very attentive and provided great service. She was spot on with checking on our needs throughout. I recognize Bibinger's is a new business and am hopeful they are still working the kinks out. The atmosphere is awesome and with a few tweaks I think this could turn into a long-term destination for Washington County area residents. read more

Stopped in for brunch and I have to say, Bibinger's is a hidden gem in West Bend. I ordered the Berkshire Benedict with breakfast potatoes and a classic Wisconsin old fashioned. The benedict was pretty good, but the real winner for me were the breakfast potatoes. They were cooked perfectly and had very crispy skins, which I liked very much. The only complaint that I had was that we had to wait probably 10 minutes after being sat before anyone even greeted us, but to me, they made up for it with the food. Overall, the food and ambiance were great, but the service has room for improvement. I'll be coming back because the food was so good, but hope the service improves. read more

It was cooked exactly the way I ordered and was extremely juicy. Along with my burger, I also got perfectly cooked fries. I am a huge fry snob and absolutely hate non crispy fries. They definitely did them right. My friend got a chicken dish that had (what looked like) homemade noodles with a lemon cream sauce. We were seated immediately, handed menus and were given the specials spiel. The menu is unique and fun but rustic and wholesome - it was difficult to pick one entree. We started with the guacamole & pico appetizer and it was good. Typical flavors, nothing flashy. I couldn't help but notice that we barely put a dent in the chips by the time the guac and pico was gone. The Caribbean Jerk scallops were delish - and presented so beautifully. The scallops were melt in your mouth, but could have been a bit spicier. The $2 Goose Island IPA was a great pairing (Tuesday night special). The Braised Beef Short Ribs were fantastic. The polenta super-creamy and the vegetables super-dreamy. Not too salty and the perfect amount of sauce to marry the beef with the polenta. This dish is fantastic! I'll usually stop here once a month when I find myself in the area. I love the food, and have yet to have anything bad. I highly recommend the schnitzel! If I'm you're of age then try out the old fashioned menu, there is some great options on that as well. The service here is pretty good, just beat in mind that they get very busy around dinner time and you may feel that the servers are not stopping by you enough. They have a bunch of tables to check on and take orders for so please be patient maybe look around the old place, it's very cool inside and has an old barn feel to it. read more

We must've arrived on an off night for Bibinger's, drinks, appetizers, and dinners, all in around 40 minutes, which felt extremely rushed. We hadn't even started our second appetizer when our dinner showed up. This happened to be our one night for my husband and I so I was disappointed that we weren't able to sit and relax during dinner. I had made a comment when seated to the hostess, when asked if we were interested in the comedy show, that I was not at this time as I didn't want to have to rush through dinner. I had the gnocchi, this time, and while the flavors were good, the gnocchi felt oily, so it's not something I would order again. My husband had the pork schnitzel, and while last night it was over cooked, he will order again, as it's usually very good. We had the brussel sprouts and a salad as an appetizer, both of which were excellent. Everything is always fresh and delicious here with an emphasis on procuring local ingredients. So happy you now have the option of having an "Impossible" burger which are beyond blown away to substitute instead of a meat burger. Although somewhat limited, vegan and vegetarian items are clearly marked on the menu. On a good 2.5hr drive from Milwaukee to Wisconsin Rapids, I found this place on Yelp. What a great find! The food was delicious. I had the brat for lunch and it was probably the best one I've ever had. Mind you I'm not local to Wisconsin, but I'm pretty sure that I'm right. The breaded cheese curds are an excellent appetizer. I have eaten here many times over the years, and they have great food. The menu is creative and they always have great specials. I had the Wild Sockeye Salmon Chowder which was fantastic. My wife had the Haddock fish fry and we both agreed it was one of the best that we ever had. Everyone has a Friday fish fry in Wisconsin, but most are boring and I rarely order one a second time anywhere that I eat. This was exceptional however and I will definitely order the fish fry here again except that I generally order the weekly special that rotates because they are generally creative and funky. They have a great craft selection of beer and mixed drinks are are well known for their award winning old fashions. We dined in at Bibinger's on a Sunday during a Packers game. This is an older building that has been rehabbed into a restaurant and bar with an upper level hall that can be rented for events. The main floor dining/bar is open concept. They are following mask guidelines, all staff members were wearing masks. They are also spacing out tables so they have little cards on the tables that are closed to follow social distancing guidelines. For a Sunday Packer game the space didn't feel overly crowded or loud. We opted to dine at the bar for prime TV viewing. We ordered bloody marys and coffee to start. The bloody mary was good but be warned they use infused vodkas. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing for some, I think the flavor of garlic was too much and would have preferred regular vodka. My boyfriend had the horseradish infused vodka in his and he agreed, too much horseradish flavor. The coffee was nothing of note except they brewed us a fresh pot so that was nice. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast special, steak benedict and I selected the veggie omelet. Both came with a side of potatoes and mine a side of toast. My boyfriend apparently loved his because it was gone rather quickly. My dish was well made and tasted good overall. Nothing really special about this omelet. We spied other diners meals and the burgers look delicious. Good food and drink and a reasonable price. Shout out to our bartender, she was great. Very attentive, well informed about the food and just all around wonderful service. I'd return to try a burger in the future. We had $25 worth of bonus gift cards that were to expire on March 31, 2020, and when things were shutting down in mid March due to Covid, we called and asked if they'd extend the gift card date, and said sure you can use it after we reopen. Since we're in our 60's with underlying health issues, we finally came back today and they said the new expiration date was June 30th. I just left the restaurant. I made reservations for 5pm Saturday February 3, 2024. Myself and my wife drove from Oshkosh we were meeting another couple from Milwaukee. The arrival was great. We entered the establishment about 4:20 and headed to the bar for one of their well architected old fashioned. We were not disappointed. The bartender was amazing, she was engaging and had all the answers. Later we found out she was very new to being behind the bar but it was barely noticeable. The other couple arrived about 4:45 and we were able to be seated. The hostess was helpful and guided us to our table. The waitress came over within a minute or 2 and took our drink orders. Our waitress was on top of everything making sure we were taken care of. We all ordered and away to the kitchen things went. We received or meals and everything came out as ordered except my meal. I ordered the special which was a ribeye. It was drowning in some sort of think sauce. I gave it a try with a couple bites and it was rough. This was not what I ordered but thought I would give it a shot and it was not working. I looked again at the menu and the "special board" and there was nothing showing this would be swimming in sauce. Our amazing server came back over and I told her this is not what I ordered and she quickly took my order for something else. She came back and said I would still be charged for what I didn't order (the steak swimming in sauce) because the "boss" said so. I asked to talk with the "boss" and she seemed shocked I would want to talk to the "boss". I mean sure i'm reasonable I just want what I ordered or something different. The "boss" came over and explained how they cannot just take the steak off cause I ordered the steak. I explained this steak is not what I ordered, that it's not shown on the special board or menu swimming in sauce and he clearly didn't care. After a couple minutes of asking for something new he refused to replace the incorrect order and said he would sell me what I didn't order for half price of $22. The "boss" was devaluing and discounting my concerns simply saying "I don't want to argue" AKA I don't want to take care of my mistake. I conceded wanting to enjoy the evening with friends I rarely see. I get it i'm not a regular just come down every couple months but you would think an easy fix would be a good way to promote the restaurant. When everyone but the "boss" jumps thought hoops to make sure everyone is taken care of its not difficult to see where the challenges are within the organization. I might be back it's just so disappointing when you ask for someone to simply fix a mistake and all the "boss" has is excuses for their lack of attention to detail as an argument. read more

The choice were chips or fries and I had chips but the chips were incredibly oversalted and burnt. Terrible service. We walked in on Friday at late lunch time and the two hostess/waitresses actually bickered over who had to seat us. Finally someone lost the coin toss and seated us. She asked our drink orders (iced tea and water). She never brought the drinks or returned to take our order. We left after 15-17 mins with no interaction from anyone at the restaurant. We made sure our menus were closed, we tried making eye contact etc. Nothing. Two tables got refills on drinks and we didn't even get ours. Terrible. However we went down the road to the Slinger House and had a delicious lunch and our server was awesome and got a 25% tip. 8.8.18- my husband and I decided to give this restaurant another try- and I'm glad that we did. We had excellent service, the food was delicious and exceptional and the service was awesome! Every place can have an off day but I would recommend this restaurant. I was contacted in my original review by he owner but decided to return without any knowledge so I could experience the situation organically. My husband and I went in for a fish fry tonight. Honestly, best fish fry in the area. We both had the haddock, lightly breaded. It was crispy and seasoned perfectly. Nice firm, flaky filets. We had the chips. Not at all greasy. The coleslaw was obviously homemade and so tasty. We had the goat cheese parm dip app which was perfect. Honey-pear craft Old fashions were divine.
