Great new spot in the Harahan/River Ridge/Elmwood area! Very friendly staff. Nice dining area and outdoor covered seating as well. The bar area is next door and is nice. It is adjacent to the restaurant. They have a nice variety of unique daiquiri flavors. They even have a drive through. They have a nice bar in the restaurant area as well, which is actually a saltwater aquarium. Very neat. The restroom was clean and had a nice smelling candle burning. I decided to go for a healthier option and chose the goat cheese salad with grilled chicken. $11 + $4. It had plenty of goat cheese crumbles and more than enough dressing in my opinion. It comes with a roasted red onion vinaigrette dressing on the side, which tasted pretty close to balsamic vinaigrette. To me it was the perfect portion. It is not extremely large though. I also ordered a small side of French fries just to taste them. They were the thicker, frozen, battered variety. Definitely not bad, but nothing too special. I will definitely be back. Total 360 from my first positive experience with the Bang Bang shrimp wrap. Not sure if the short order cook was new or what was going on, but the Marrone that came out the kitchen was God awful! The meat (prime rib) was hard and chewy as if it had been sitting under a warming light for a couple days dehydrating. That said, the $16 plate came with french bread, onion rings, dipping sauce, and au jus which were all pleasant to the palate. Seriously, I'm still at this place & I want to order another bowl. It just opened in Harahan, yes HAR-A-HAN. They're already busy. There isn't a lot out this way, but this place will be popping! Customers next to me got the Almond crusted shrimp.. THEY LOVED IT! The menu has a New Orleans feel but it's basically a bar & grill. With a seafood heavy options. When the weather is nicer they have a good size patio. The staff is friendly and nice. Ms. Lori our bartender was super sweet. This won't be my last time here. I'm still a little shocked I'm on Harahan, but the food is great. Seating probably a bit tough for big parties if you can't sit outside. On multiple occasions I went here during posted business hours to find this place closed 30-90 minutes early. I also have witnessed customers turned away 30 minutes before closing. I drive 20 minutes to get to this place only to be locked out. I have even called ahead to be sure they are open, only to get there and it's locked up. I am done as well as my group. Went to a new place in the Harahan/Elmwood area with wife and another couple. Waited at the bar for 20 minutes for a table while having a drink. Bar has a cool aquarium in it, but the light color changes every minute are a bit much. Food was excellent. I took Jacob the waiters advice and got the Prime Rib - excellent choice and pretty reasonable at $29. My wife got the fried oyster and shrimp plate, and our guests got Catfish Gros (very good too) and shrimp and grits. All very good - and will be going back. read more

I just got this salad about 20 minutes ago. I didn't want to leave a bad review at all. Sometimes it is needed. I order a salad that comes with almond chips, strawberries, goat cheese . They put red onions which doesn't go well on a strawberry salad. I have no spring mix it looks like only arugula or something . Bienvenue was an okay experience but for the price, there's better around (even right across the street). We were seated right away, but our waitress was very slow and did not understand the menu at all. She was very friendly but did not understand any questions we asked her. The menu has some neat creations on it, but everything was overpriced. The chicken and sausage gumbo had a really dark roux and packed with good flavor. The down side I is every other component of the gumbo. To advertise "chicken" in your gumbo, usually you should have chicken in your bowl. Not a single piece of chicken in the gumbo. The "bowl" of gumbo is about 10oz of gumbo without the rice for $9 before tax. While it had a good taste, it was still a major let down. I also ordered a special of the day "drum something" ( I could not understand her after saying it 3 times). It was blackened fish, with a crab cake on top, with another piece of fish on top of the cake. It came with grilled veggies, so the only think deep fried was the cake. The cake tasted great, the fish seemed a little under salted but nothing to complain about, that's my preference, it still had plenty seasoning. The veggies were okay, nothing special that stood out other than the fact that it was literally sitting in a pool of grease. Overall everything was okay, but for a way cheaper price, better service there are plenty other options. read more

Always great service every time I've been here. Cannot stress enough that after visiting at least 5-7 times, I have never had a single service issue. I've visited for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Each time the service and drinks were exceptional, while the food was either great or just OK. They're currently changing their menu, and the changes were tasty! We stopped in early Sunday for brunch. We each had one of the berry margaritas; those are always fresh and delicious. Waiter suggested the crab dip to start, which was a great choice. The serving size is perfect; large enough to be satisfying, yet small enough to not ruin your meal. I ordered a side salad with ranch, and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was with fresh kale, onions, tomatoes, cheese, etc. It wasn't anything extraordinary, it was just above average side salad with a large portion - I have always loved the salads here, so I'm happy to see they're still great. For the entree we split the special of red fish and veggies. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the veggies were super flavorful. Since food was always our reason for not visiting more often, maybe this menu change will get us there more often. read more

We drove in from out of town and came in because the menu looked fantastic! The service was fantastic, Lily greeted us with a big smile and great menu suggestions. We had the onion rings for an app and they were spectacular. For our meal we shared the maronne and the New Orleans wrap. Both were amazing; great flavor and variety! Spinach salad with oysters was a sorry excuse for a salad. I have had before here and it was delicious and probably worth the $18. Not today! Salad was served in 6" diameter bowl with a 3" lip and about 3/4 " deep. Spinach barely filled the the bowl. More like a side salad with oysters. And then Oysters were over cooked. The Bienvenue salad with oyster was so good the first few times I had and I was looking forward to it today. Disappointed. Especially since the manager brought the salad out & put in front of me without a word. I doubt I'll be back. read more

This new establishment has the potential to become a nice hole in the wall gem for Harahan. When you walk in, there's an aquarium bar that's really unique. The restaurant takes popular New Orleans dishes and puts a different spicy spin on it. I got the prime rib dip that had Gouda cheese on it. Nice touch. The prices are middle of the road, but the portions are a nice size. I actually had the second half of the sandwich for breakfast haha. Another interesting feature is the daiquiri drive through if you're more in the mood for just a drink. This Harahan seafood joint is brand new and, I think, has lots of potential to become a neighborhood essential! I really appreciated that this place took local staples and boldly tried to kick the flavors up a notch, trying to elevate classics without losing the kitschy charm of a local joint. First off, the atmosphere: unpretentious and kooky at the same time. The (extensive) bar is made of a massive fish tank full of vibrant coral and beautiful Caribbean fish, there are hand drawn chalk illustrations on blackboard walls, and there's fun/tacky (facky?) local food-centric art on the walls too. Numerous TVs present make it an optimal spot for Saints game viewing (or, currently, Winter Olympics). There also a deck outside with a TV for when there's no threat of rain! Our server was great and provided that classic old-school no-nonsense attentiveness that made the place feed like an old establishment. The food had some really great qualities and some things which left a little to be desired. We started with the seafood cake appetizer which was marvelous: crab- and crawfish-stuffed patties, battered and crisply fried, salty and satisfying, drizzled with a garlic aioli and served atop what my dad considered some of the best crawfish etoufee he's ever had (and he's an expert, so don't take this praise lightly). Main courses were three of their poboys. I got their flagship, Oak-Street-Poboy-Festival-Award-Winning prime rib: "The Marrone" - stacks of thickcut slices of well-marinated smoked steak doused with the savory debris gravy, melting gouda, and the biting flavor of their cajun horseradish spread; I can honestly say eating this sandwich was fun for my mouth, it was quite yummy. The sandwich was also served with a bold (and I mean BOLD) jus for dunking, but I honestly preferred my bites sans jus, as the combo was just a bit too much of an assault on my taste buds (there's only so much horseradish one can take). I will also mention the prime rib was VERY fatty, or maybe "well-marbled" is more polite - and while that obviously makes for a more flavorful bite, I occasionally had bites that were purely chunks of fat; so for the sake of my arteries, I pruned my meat of some of the larger adipose chunks - nevertheless quite enjoyable. Other members in my party got the hot sausage poboy, which was a good reliable specimen, and the fried shrimp, which weren't quite as plump or succulent as I'm used to but were nevertheless plentiful on the sandwich and spicily battered (nothing is worse than bland batter and a sparse shrimp population on a sandwich, so thankfully that wasn't the case here). One member of my party felt the bread, while fresh, was pretty tough and poorly buttered; I countered by stating that my gravy-ful sammich required a more substantial loaf to handle all the debris and jus. I think we'll definitely be back come Saints season - definitely also want to try their boiled crawfish! They're so close to being bumped up to 4 stars, I'm sure I'll be adjusting my rating soon. Went to opening night (1/9/18) & everything was AMAZING! The staff was friendly & knowledgeable, the food was incredible(can't deny I was a little shocked, usually one of the two is lacking opening night!). We shared several apps, the boudin balls, the ahi tuna & the fries with debris, all delicious! I had the Bang Bang shrimp wrap for my entree (the tiger sauce is so good!) the shrimp was perfectly fried & the Granny Smith slaw was crisp & refreshing.
