With so many restaurant closures due to the pandemic, I was surprised and happy to see a new restaurant open and stay afloat. I'm also happy that Biergarten is adding some diversity in the restaurant scene in Santa Barbara. Bier, Apfelwein, Würstchen, Pommes und Brezel.... are plentiful, but also offer pizza for those who aren't into sausages. The sausages are moist and tasty, the mustard on the side adds flavor to the sausages but not too much that it's overwhelming . The fries were your typical french fry, not anything I've not had before. But the pretzel did made a lasting impression on my taste buds. It was doughy, not dry, and a carb loaders dream. I was a bit disappointed in the service. We had reservations due to our large group and they lost the reservation list. So we had to wait for an extra table to open up to accommodate our group. I also felt our waiter was stretched too thin. He was covering multiple tables and was having a difficult time juggling them. I don't think it was any fault of his, he was assigned to too many groups. Aside from our reservation being lost and having to share our waiter with too many diners, all in all I loved Biergarten. If you haven't come here yet due to COVID snows your chance! Super awesome vibes and a plus if you like beer. Biergarten doesn't disappoint with its beer choices. It ranges from pints to a boot so you can choose what ever tickles your fancy. The house beer tastes like honey and I would definitely recommend. Food was not a crowd pleaser but it pleased me. This place is a beer garden anyway. Went in the afternoon and the sausages were good enough for us to come again for dinner. If you want sausages I recommend the sampler which ranges from 3-4 sausages. It comes with grilled onions, sauerkraut, pickles, bacon or fries (chose one), and sauces. The casing on the sausage is a bit tough but if you're hungry you'll definitely chow down on it now problem. The schnitzel was also pretty good! The piece of meat was bigger than my head and I have a big head. Was super good and you get a choice of fries or German potato's. Pretty neat place that has a variety of different finger foods as well as drinks. We ordered the chicken tenders and a few drinks and overall everything was pretty good. Not necessarily the best I've ever had but after a fun day of walking around it was really good. The seating is pretty hit or miss inside so make sure you have a jacket just in case you have to sit outside. I didn't even think I liked poutine all that much because it's usually too heavy for me and it's not something I'd order for myself, but I was able to try Biergarten's poutine as part of a food tour and it was pretty mindblowingly good. Theirs is with thin crispy fries, a mushroom gravy, cheese curds, and perfectly cooked schnitzel - a surprisingly killer combo. You won't regret giving it a try and it goes sooo well with the beer! I also had a bavarian dark beer (not sure of exact name) that was great even though I'm also normally not a huge fan of dark ales. I came here with my friend to try the beer flight and sausage. Both were amazing!! We got the hot Italian, cheddar jalapeño, and the andouille sausage. I really liked their spicy orange sauce they had to dip it in. It gave the sausage extra flavor and spice. The atmosphere was wonderful and everyone was happy and friendly. One of our favorite spots in SB. Anytime we have friends visiting we like to bring them here. Good food and good beer choices. The boot is a fun one for any visitors. I was thrilled to see that this new spot recently popped up in an area I didn't even know had the space for a place like this. The interior is very spacious, and there are a number of outdoor seating areas. The bar has an indoor/outdoor style and there are plenty of spots. The format here is unique in that you order and pay at the entrance, said order is transmitted to the bar about 20 feet away, and you wait until your name is called. The lager I ordered was ice cold and crisp, just as I like it to be. I sat at a table outdoors and while the weather was gloomy, my spot was flanked by two barrel-style fire pits which kept me nice and toasty. The Biergarten has so much potential, great Funk Zone location, huge patio, tasty sausage. We love the location in Solvang so we were excited to have it move into a SB space. But EVERY time we visit they are out of everything! Just went on Monday and they had a list of 10 food items and 6 beverages they were out of. Not to be mean but who the heck is running this place? Where is the management? We feel bad because the staff always seems embarrassed about constantly being out of everything.
