We love big bon!!! We practically eat there everyday, but since we always get the same thing, it's easy to see the inconsistencies. I get a plain bagel with cream cheese everyday, and sometimes there is enough cc, and sometimes there is literally no cc and I'm basically just eating bread with a cream cheese taste. I wish they were more consistent because when they are, it's so good!!! Paying $2 for cream cheese and then getting a different amount every time is frustrating, especially when you get the smallest amount. I will admit that it's a giant letdown to open up the bag and unwrap the bagel to find that your bagel is completely different from the day before only because they didn't smear enough cream cheese on there. I would rather have more than less (which 100% happens some days) I also will sometimes get a piece of salmon or meat from another order in my bagel. I'm vegetarian and besides that it's weird to get a piece of smoked salmon in a bite you weren't expecting lol They are great besides consistency, that's all. The spot is cute, people are friendly and how can you not love bagels! Finally a dedicated FRESH bagel cafe is town - woho! Love this bodega and the creativity. I tried the Spicy Mama, kimchi cream cheese and pork bulgogi on a bagel of your choice- I got everything bagel and it was yummy! My friend tried the Mediterranean sandwich- eggplant and cream cheese, that was great too. My usual go to is lox bagel but I wanted to try something different and my choices didn't disappoint. For those health conscious and low carb eaters, they can turn any sandwich into a quinoa bowl - I cannot wait to try it! They serve coffee from Savannah coffee roasters, one of my favorites in town. I got the cold brew with almond milk and it was perfect. They also sell canned cold brew and alcoholic beverages - beer and wine. Seating is available both inside and outside. They have friendly service and the bagel is the best I've had so far in Savannah. The pimento cheese spread is definitely spicy and creamy. Many Vegan options - I got the Thai tea which was delicious! I haven't had this for years. They also have a vegan chai. They ran out of poppy- I got an everything and sesame bagel. Both superb. I tried the plain vegan cream cheese- it was perfect paired with these bagels. It is not overly rich and it is a little sour on its own. I prob wouldn't buy it to use at home but with fresh wood fired bagels it's the perfect accompaniment! Highly recommend to try this place. Big Bon Family has expanded and this time, you don't have to chase them and track them down at their next pop-up around town, although you still might have to do that to get their za-zas. You can find them at their newest brick and mortar location called Big Bon Bodega (BBB) on Bull Street at the corner of 37th, now serving, bagels! If you don't know the BB Fam, they have built quite a reputation with their flavorful pizzas baked in their shiny, red, mobile wood fire oven (you can read my review of Big Bon Pizza). Thanks to Instagram, I heard of their grand opening today and planned my weekly brunch date with friends to coincide with the opening. As soon as you approach, it's an impressive white building with their shiny logo placed at the top (looks like a crown or maybe tiara since it's a Mom and Daughter duo?) with "Bodega" in red lettering. You really can't miss it. They are located on the main floor. Seems like apartments on the upper levels? Imagine waking up to the smell of fresh bagels every morning! Parking - Huge bonus! They have parking on their property which is rare in downtown Savannah. However, only about 7 parking spaces so it's limited. It was opening day, so naturally it was full, but thankfully, we found a spot across the street, all free, no meters. What we ate/drank: Coffee - I ordered one, but they only had hot today. They hope to add Iced Coffee to the menu, I was told. They were serving a special roast made exclusively for them by Savannah Coffee Roasters. What a great partnership! It was great and they have a station fully equipped with wooden disposable utensils, water, simple syrup, granulated sugar, half and half and even almond milk! And they have those wooden sticks that actually stir. Useful and better than plastic. It's the little things! Spicy Mama Bagel Sandwich - I couldn't resist getting the Korean one since I know that their kimchi is made by their Korean halmony (grandmother in Korean). This one has Pork Bulgogi with Kimchi Cream Cheese with a peanut slaw. You normally have the choice of bagel, but they had been open since 7am and we arrived at around noon and being that it was Opening day, they said they had been slammed all day and they only had Poppy Seed left. It was surprisingly a pretty good combo. Slightly messy since the slaw was sliding with the cream cheese with every bite. I was surprised at the kimchi cream cheese. Very strange to have dairy product paired with a flavor like kimchi, but it worked. The bagel was nice and chewy and just right! Horizon Organic Chocolate Milk - great for my little one. WB&J Bagel Sandwich - This one was made with their house made walnut butter with a blueberry jam. I thought this was a great twist to the normal PB&J. Service - The girl taking my order was so sweet and very apologetic for not having more bagel options, but is it her fault everyone decided to come in today and clean them out of everything? Not a bad problem to have for them and gives me another reason to come back! Vibe - Super clean and modern with high ceilings and a simple design. When you walk in, the wood fire oven is on the right corner (in the kitchen area). You have to walk over to the left in the back to get in the queue to order. In the far back toward the left, there is more space there where they have a "market" set up, selling things like toilet paper (yes,TP, because you never know when you will need TP), snacks and apparel like trucker hats with brightly colored logos and pictures. There is a big drink fridge that includes different beverages and even this new concept I keep seeing now of boxed water. Water in a milk box container. Great way to reduce plastic. They have a few tables, so limited seating. Kid-Friendly - They don't have a specific Kids menu, but have plenty of options for kids. My daughter wasn't a fan of the WB&J, only because she is very set in her ways. Typical of a toddler. She likes a specific brand of peanut butter with a specific brand of jelly cut into animal shapes. Oh well. More for me. I had hers for dessert. Heads up: Parents, there are no changing table in the bathroom as of this writing, but it's Day One. Things can change. Vegans -They offer a quinoa bowl. You're welcome. So excited for the residents of the Starland District and for the people of Savannah. Businesses like BBB are such a great addition to this area and is really making Starland District a hot spot destination for all things yum and cool! I am hoping they bring their pizzas here too! I really like their cold brew, too. It's lightly sweetened. Really had to try not to be a Karen. Foods okay not worth the hype because it's not very toasted... or maybe it was just mine? The service was really mid in my opinion. Cashier was nice but chefs need to be replaced or get some service training. They messed up my order when it was printed clearly on the receipt and the chefs order check. I had ordered the Savannah 912 with no bacon substitute for sausage. I hate being a Karen but come on people... anyway they gave me my sandwich with bacon. Confront the person who made my sandwich and ask for it to be made with sausage. They give me a breakfast sandwich without the cream cheese and cold sliced cheese and my bagels not even toasted well... Im on vacation and came here after all the hype on social media. I got an everything bagel as the sandwich bread and the bagel tasted amazing! Chewy on the inside and the perfect amount of crispness on the outside. Wanted a lighter breakfast/lunch option, so we decided to try here. I had the Buffalo Ranch Sandwich and an iced Mocha Bon Latte, the hubby had a Lox and Schmear Sandwich and regular coffee. The coffee drinks had great flavor. The bagels used for the sandwich were some of the best that I had in a long time. They were not dry and were very fresh. The sandwiches had a nice balance of ingredients and flavor and were satisfying but not heavy. Staff was friendly and pleasant. Breakfast is super good but I cannot get over the price of $6 for a Yerba mate, especially when less then a block away Foxy Loxy sells them for half that and ALSO doesn't charge $2 for a tiny sticker; they just have a stack of large ones and you can have as many as you want for free. Probably why they are everywhere around the town and why they have a line out the door every day... good food and service but the prices are just a little confusing especially when you make as much money as bodega does. read more

This place is soooo cute! I was here while they were celebrating their second anniversary and there were balloons outside and a plant vendor and another vendor! It was so well put together! There is art to purchase inside and everything looks sooo delicious! They even have a free hot coffee when you check in on Yelp! I got the bahn mi on an everything bagel. The meat was so deliciously marinated and the pickled vegetables were fresh! I also got the Thai tea and it was super refreshing and not too sweet. I loved their outdoor seating as well. So I really went back and forth between 3 or 4 stars... the negatives- the everything bagel was lacking salt and onions; and the 912 had a herb butter that only contributed to the wetness and not the flavor. I still think I would go back and give it another try but for sure get something different (or at least omit the butter?) I was really feigning for a bacon, egg and cheese (the tastes of breakfast in NY) but this did not hit the spot. The latte was wonderfully delicious. Three words: kimchi cream cheese. Try it. It will change your life (if you like kimchi). I never would have thought to combine the two but wow. The bagels have a great texture with a nice crust and a good chew. I ordered the Bon Mi and the portion of roast pork is crazy, I only had one jalapeño on my sandwich and the toppings were really uneven but that's a quick fix. This one might not match up to New York exactly, the bagels are in fact great (they don't skimp on cream cheese and they're the perfect amount of fluffy, even when toasted) and the service is always very friendly. If you're not in the mood for a bagel, the sandwiches are super yummy and filling - I recommend the Bahn Mi always. Everything about this place is great, but prepare for a bit of a wait for your food and definitely being your wallet - it is a bit pricey considering the portion sizes. Overall, a great place and a must for a weekend breakfast/lunch if you live in the neighborhood, but not necessarily if you're on a budget or in the mood for a speedy bite to eat. read more
