    The Big Fish opened this restaurant in Ocean View close to a friend's house and we're glad they did! My wife and I had dinner with them on a recent Friday night and really had a great time. This is a large restaurant and we had a nice table upstairs. We were here in April so no wait and plenty of parking. We started off with drinks and my Orange Crush was outstanding! Appetizers of calamari and rock shrimp were very good. I ordered the blackened catfish with mashed potatoes and asparagus. What a great meal! Service was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back!

    Very good service, excellent food. Our party of 9 sampled just about everything : lobster, salmon, cod, fish tacos, grilled shrimp, flounder, halibut and two kids' dinners (hot dog and chicken tenders). Really nice appetizers as well - fresh oysters and mussels, and coconut shrimp. We sat upstairs - never knew there was an upper level!

    Our server was great, super friendly. Unfortunately our $25 Fish and Chips were super disappointing. The smallest piece of fish and we are right next to the ocean. We are from New England and this is a disgrace to Fish & Chips. We were offered a bigger piece, to be fair.. but we said no because we were hungry and it wasn't the waitresses fault. We should have been given a decent sized piece to begin with. Kind of a tourist trap. The picture looked a lot bigger and better on the website.

    It was Cashew Crusted Alaskan Cod, Pan Seared Halibut & Herb Crusted Flounder on Seafood Rigatoni in Pesto.

    Cousins and I came for seafood. Shared a Coconut Shrimp appetizer and a Roasted Street Corn Lobster Bisque. Entrees were Fresh Cashew Crusted Alaskan Cod on potato mashers with sautéed spinach. Herb Crusted Flounder on Rigatoni and Pesto sauce. And Pan Seared Halibut over Seafood Risotto. Side of garlic bread. A Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Dogfish Head Citrus. Everything was outstanding including our Server Darby. I enjoyed the food so much I want to go back soon. The only thing I can say about my photo is it shows how much we enjoyed our entrees. Lol

We have not been here in awhile. I still had one of their gift cards so we decided to eat here on Cinco De Mayo, because as I mentioned they always decorate the restaurant for every holiday. We waited about 15 minutes for the last table 41 on the right nearest to the bar to become available. I started with my two margaritas with salt for $7 each. The ambient noise here is very loud when it is this crowded. I also enjoyed my chicken and chorizo poblano skillet with chicken tingo, chorizo, poblanos and onions over Spanish rice with queso and cilantro-lime crema served with a guac salad and tortillas for $23. It was served on a hot cast iron skillet. When served my dish looked different from what was on their website. It looks like they topped the dish with queso and cilantro crema. I would have preferred what was on their website without the queso and cilantro crema on top. There might be a disconnect between the website and the kitchen. Anyway my dish was different from the normal. There was a lot of food to eat. I ate half and also took half of the skillet, the guac salad and tortillas home for my late night snack and tomorrow's lunch. Arissa served us very well. Our total bill was $77 excluding gratuity. My gift card had $51.50 remaining so I applied my credit card for my $25.50 balance due.

    I too attended the the March AARP monthly luncheon at Hockers Family Restaurant and I must say that…read morethe meals that were served at our table were scrumptious. We had each of the three St. Patrick's Day offerings (Bangers and Mash, Corned Beef and Cabbage, as well as Fish and Chips) and everyone raved about their meal. Some folks took leftovers home because the serving size was more than enough to eat at one setting. There were 122 people in attendance and the staff worked tirelessly to serve the meals as quickly as possible with the 4 servers that were on duty. In fact, I was seated at the very last table to be served, and we used the wait time to socialize with our tablemates. The food arrived piping hot and was well worth the wait. Speaking with management after the luncheon, we discussed how we wished we could get everyone served a little faster. They agreed. There is good news and bad news about it. The bad news - the restaurant kitchen does not have food warmers, like banquet facilities, so they cannot pre prep hot food. The good news - food is coming out "hot off the grill". Know that the servers will rotate where they start serving each month so that the same table will not be the last one served. All attendees will be served their meal somewhere between 12 and 1. The sound system does have room for improvement, but it is a "wired" system and the wires cannot be placed across the floor to reach the middle of the room (tripping hazard). One contributing factor in people having a difficult time hearing is the number of audience members talking throughout the presentation. Perhaps a greater level of respect shown to the speakers would be helpful. Hockers staff has worked with the AARP organizers making changes as needed. I personally am grateful to the Hockers family for giving us the opportunity to accommodate a much larger audience than in our previous venue. I am looking forward to the upcoming luncheon/meetings and hope that the members exercise a little more patience.

I will summarize my three most recent visits in March during the off season on Friday's at 4 PM. We arrived at 3:50 PM prior to their open at 4 PM. Already two people were online. We waited in my Audi waiting for other customers to arrive. Other vehicles arrived around 3:55 PM so we exited my Audi to get in line behind the other two customers. When they opened at 4 PM we secured our favorite table for 4 to the left of the entrance. We were happy that Mike from his former Catch 54 served our table. We first met Mike here at Bluecoast back in 2021. Also Kelly from her former Off The Hook also stopped by to say hello. We enjoyed our dozen Chunu Virginia oysters. I also enjoyed my usual tuna poke for $15 with white rice, carrots, pineapple and jalapeno peppers. I ended my meal with a pineapple martini for $8. We returned here for our second visit with our friends. Since there were five of us we sat in their second booth on the right. Again Mike stopped by to say hello. I started with my margarita with salted rim for $9. Kelly delivered our dozen of the Chunu Virginia oysters for $12 to also say hello. I also enjoyed my two pineapple martinis for $8 each. I also enjoyed my tuna and salmon poke for $16. We also shared a bottle of Trefethen chardonnay for $58 with the Friday 1/2 price wine reduced down to $29. My total bill was reduced down from $143 to $114. Lindsay S. served us very well as usual. We returned for our third visit on Friday. We sat at the table to the left of the entrance. Kelly and Mike stopped by to say hello. I started with my margarita for $8 and ended with my pineapple martini also for $8. Again, I enjoyed my dozen Chunu Virginia oysters and my poke. Alexis D. served us very well. Customer service and friendship are most important. We will continue to return here for the off season happy hour.
