I hate shopping for tires coz the reviews are all over the place for tire shops and the different brands of tires. All I knew was that I wouldn't be buying Continental DWS tires again as they barely made it 20,000 miles and the snow traction sucked after the first winter. So after calling around a few shops and comparing Tire Rack online, I decided to try these guys more for convenience than anything else. I went in and was quoted a price on tires which seemed about right, just be sure to ask in advance what the grand total will be after mounting and balancing. Had an outstanding experience with Ken and his friendly and capable team. I'm a first time customer of this Big O shop and was referred by a close and trusted friend. I called a few days ago knowing full well that the shop would be incredibly busy with the impending blizzard. It was.... Ken took the time to be very consultative about the tires and service we needed, but wasn't 'salesy' or pushy in his approach. We had 2 sets of new tires on our vehicles very quickly (less than time quoted) and are very happy customers. I'll report back as/when we have any issues - that's always the real test. Store is clean which is the only positive comment I can make. Customer service and fairness is nothing compared to other Big O Tires I've been to. I've held Big O in high regard as they always price match and promote excellent customer service. At this particular location, I was up-charged $40 compared to following up and calling other local Big Os. When brought this to attention at this location, I was told they are all "independently operated." There was an apathetic feeling and little enthusiasm to keep my business. Even though this location is closest to my new address, I drove to another Big O Tires on the other side of town I had previously visited with a positive experience and they further lived up to providing a positive and fairly priced experience. I have a Jeep, and for several days one of my tires was low. I took it to the Jeep Dealership twice, and each time they told me I was crazy and that there was no low tire. I finally got fed up with them and took it to this Big O Tires. Within 15 minutes they came out with a tiny nail they had found in one of the tires... they had found the hole and fixed my tire. I have had very good luck with these guys. Go in for tire change twice a year, plus the odd maintenance issue. With any mechanic shop, honesty is always the issue and I have never felt they tried to pull a fast one. This store always goes above and beyond what I expected from an auto shop. I used to live in aurora quite a ways a way from here and I ended up in a circumstance where I brought my car into the shop for the first time. This was about three years ago. Ever since that first experience, I have been coming every single time I need to work on my car no matter how big or small. Service was fairly quick and Anthony was helpful. He quoted about 1.5-2 hrs and the work was completed in that time. I would rate this higher, however, what is quoted online is significantly different than what was quoted in store. I even mentioned that the price was lower online and the response was, "well, sometimes it doesn't show the right size, so it can be more money." I wasn't able to look it up and I wish I would have asked to look at the screen because I double checked when I got home and the exact tires are about $15 less online- which makes a difference when buying 4 tires @ $200 each. Tip: if you have your mobile device handy, cross reference it with the online quote. And, at a competing tire store they ask if you want the TPMS Service Kit. Here, they don't ask and then charge you for it. Follow up: Decided to visit the store in person and Anthony mentioned a speed rating will impact the price. However, he honored the online quote and refunded the difference. He was very professional and helpful. read more

The Colfax Big O tire store has been the only place I've bought tires since moving to Denver in 2008. There's a good reason for that. I've shopped around for the best prices, and they always have the best deal. The staff is friendly and efficient. I was in there just last week. While waiting for my tires to be installed, I watched the manager deal with some tough customers and he was friendly and accommodating. They wouldn't know me if I walked in there because I don't need to go often, but I highly recommend the Colfax Big O Tires. read more

I went into big o yesterday and I told the man at the counter my budget (I needed it stay between 400-500) I told him that I had JUST come from discount tires and was tying to compare prices (they had offered me goodyear wrangler tires for 118/each) he told me that the tires he was offering are much better and only 103/each! I really don't know that much about tires (which is why I pay for a professional opinion) but I had read greasy reviews so I trusted in his opinion I and so I went ahead and told him to do it. By the time I was paying my bill, it was $678- nearly 200 over my budget!!! He has "sold" me on things without telling me that there was an additional charge (he offered to check the alignment without telling me there was a charge to do so... I kind thought it was included with buying four new tires. A warranty that costs extra money I didn't know that I had bought) I feel completely taken advantage of. If I thought I could return them I would. As I was leaving the man behind the counter (different person than the original salesman) let me know that they offer oil changes and car repairs also..... YEAH RIGHT!!!! After getting taken advantage of I'll never return to this place. read more

I took my truck in for a simple wheel balance/tire rotation. Not only did it take 6 hours (seriously 6 hours). They put my 2 front tires on the left side and my rear tires on the right. It was so obvious. Because the rear tires had more tread. The mechanic messed up the rotation. It happens. I didn't care. But when I showed the guy at front he says hold on. Gets the mechanic. The mechanic comes out, gets mad & says how long he's been doing this for. I told him to grab his tread depth gauge (not that it wasn't visually obvious) to see the 2 left and right side tires were the same depth. Also showing it was the wrong rotation (after correct rotation. the 2 front tires will be the same depth being they crossed rotated rear to front. Now having more tread DUH). That he put the 2 front on the left side of truck. Instead of saying your right. Sorry about that. He just turns his back & walks away saying I'm not dealing with this. Guy at front desk just said we'll bring it back in & fix it.Yea right. I'm going to give my truck back to an angry mechanic. read more

I brought my car in to repair a flat and rotate the tires. I had a full sizespare on the car. After waiting and having them say they fixed the tire and rotated the tires I returned home only to notice that the spare was still on the car and in the same place it was brought in meaning that the tires were not rotated. Also the damaged tire was still in the trunk and was not repaired. I brought the car back and was not given an explanation on how or why the mistakes happened. read more

I have been coming to this Big O Tire location since I moved out here six years ago. Every single time I come in I get the best customer service, whether I am getting a routine oil change, have a flat tire or am just getting my snow tires put on for the season. When the service is taking longer then they expected they are always very apologetic and make sure I am comfortable. They have even given me discounts for my wait being too long, which I didn't ask for or complain about, because I understand that it gets busy and when I come I know that it may take a little longer then I expected. I come for the service though. I know that coming here myself and my car are going to be taken care of, even if it takes a bit longer. For everyone who complains about the prices. I work in retail, so I know all about up-selling and such and I truly believe when you tell the guys at the this store what you are looking for and your budget that they really try to stick to it. The fact is though. Cars cost money. Tires are expensive, and yes they need to be replaced every once and a while. So if you aren't willing to treat your car well it could lead to problems down the road and thats when it gets expensive. As a customer service manager, I have gotten the worst and best customer service as a customer and this location has by far exceeded my expectations! Keep up the great work! read more

Well we have a warranty on our tires that come with an aliment package and we brought our Honda in a few days ago to get an aliment... Today we sit here again because the car is still shaking... The employee at Big O Tires standing behind the counter just told us the aliment was never done a few days ago and they just gave us back the car; never worked on at all. So they lied to us and gave us an unsafe auto to drive. So today they would like to offer us to buy 2 new tires and plus our shocks are going bad. But the plus side, so we aren't so mad I guess, he said if we need parts, call him and hell give us a deal... Smells like burnt rubber around here and it stinks. COLFAX CONS....!!!! read more

"We usually don't balance the rear tires." - Clerk That's what I was told when I brought my car back after buying a full set of good tires and having bad shaking problems at 65 mph. I was also told that "sometimes the weights fall off." All these just sound like excuses for doing a bad half-a$$ed job. I had to take the car back a second time because of shaking at 65. ALL tires should be balanced! That's a fact! And they should make sure the weights are securely installed so they don't "fall off" the next day! read more

There is bad, and then there is the Big O Tire on Colfax and Grape bad. After reading the countless other negative reviews circulating online, I'm amazed that this location continues to operate. I suppose I should have known better than to go back to them after they did a shoddy oil change on my car that was leaking. I had to go back to the store on that occasion and have them fix it (and waited for over an HR for them to do so). I assumed that was an isolated incident, so I returned again to purchase four new snow tires and have them installed. They called me to tell me they broke a tire pressure sensor, and that I would have to help cover the cost because the sensor was corroded. I balked at the $50 cost I would have to pay to replace something they did incorrectly, so the gentlemen haggled with me and settled at $40 - how honorable. Driving the car a day later, my tire pressure warning system began lighting up like crazy. Obviously they did something incorrectly (again) and proved (yet again) that they are unable to execute the two most basic services in the auto business: an oil change and swapping out tires. I returned immediately that evening and asked that they fix it. The tech said it was the sensor they replaced that was causing the problem, but there were three cars ahead of me and they would not be able to get to it until the morning. So, despite my frustration, I decided to return the next morning at 7 am sharp (right when they open) to have them fix their mistake. The owner/manager Ken explained there were three people ahead of me and it would be 45 minutes to an hr. Call me old fashioned, but when a customer pays for a service, and the business provides the customer a terrible service, shouldn't that business make it their priority to fix their mistake and satisfy the customer immediately? Ken certainly thought so: just in 45 minutes to an Hr. I now have to take my car to a new shop and pay to have them fix an error that Big O caused. It's unfortunate that the only power we have as consumers is to write an angry customer service letter and post it online. While this Big O Location on Colfax will no doubt continue to provide poor workmanship and bad customer service to many future customers, hopefully there will be a few of you that read this review and choose to take your business (and time) elsewhere. I purchased an AWESOME Groupon coupon book deal for Big O Tires, and have been going here for the past few months. And honestly, while the coupons have been saving me a ton of $$$, I am looking forward to no longer having to convince myself to use them. First things first, this location doesn't take reservations, and every time I've been, the wait has been over two hours. Two loooooong hours. Last month, I went in for an oil change and waited for 2 hours and 25 minutes. After that little adventure, I decided I'd rather be coupon-less at Grease Monkey to be in and out in 15 minutes. The other day, I went in for an alignment. The man at the counter estimated my wait time to be an hour. After an hour and 45 minutes spent watching the employees in the lot whip towels at each other and walk in and out of the next door gas station to get sodas, my car was ready and in the lot, but there was only one man working the counter, so I waited an additional 15 minutes just to pay and get my keys. Yikes. No thanks, Big O. Two stars for the friendly staff, but that's about it. read more

We've had a couple bad experiences with Big O Tires out here in Denver. My husband recently took our car here for an oil change, and they gave him this long list of repairs (brakes and shocks). Total came out to over $1,000. We took the car to a reputable mechanic who quoted us a much lower price (more than half less than Big O TIres), and when he actually took a look at the car told us the brakes and shocks were fine an didn't need repair. AWFUL!!!!! They changed out my front tires after a sidewall blowout. I told them to keep the new set on the front due to the fact that my car is front wheel drive. When I picked it up the new tires were on the rear and they hadn't balanced or checked the allignment. They didn't even offer all the free sevices posted all over their front window. He claimed that it was better to put the tires on the back so my car wouldn't slide out from the back, again it's a front wheel drive and he didn't understand that I didn't want massive undesteer when I hit a patch of snow. Then I gave the guy a coupon which he wouldn't redeem and was charged over 100$ for services that they didn't perform. When I asked him why I was charged so much and brought up the fact that it would only take 30 min to change two tires and not perform ANY other check on my car he simply laughed in my face. At that point I told him to give me a reciept and I would take it to a different Big O. Of course he let me walk out of there with a reciept for a range rover not my car which just created more problems. DON'T go here there are plenty of small garages that will give better deals and actually go out of their way to help. I was in a bind with a flat and this seemed like a quick fix, it was not I will never be returning to Big O. read more

I came in with my car 4 weeks earlier to repair a tire, they removed the wheel and said they cannot fix the tire due to the location of the damage and told me to buy new tires, I mentioned that I had some used ones in my garage to throw on temporarily since there is allot of tread left and they said to bring them in, 4 weeks have gone bye and I just took my car in and now theyre saying that they dont have the equipment to remove my wheel!! really?? after they already had removed it before, all these guys want to do is sell new tires and not provide any service to customers, absolute RIPOFF!! This store is great! They're busy so you should know you will be waiting a while but prepare for that and it shouldn't be a problem. They're good about recommending needed services and not pushing unnecessary items. Also - they won't talk down to you. Having worked as a service advisor for ten years for Honda, Toyota, and Subaru - its nice to go into an auto shop where the guys don't know your background and they're not condescending. Two days and no sale! I literally dealt with this particular location over the course of two days with nothing accomplished. My journey started on a Wednesday. I found a tire online that I liked. I submitted my quote to the location I wanted to visit and set an appt. for the following Monday. Now I will say it is a very busy location and parking is a little difficult. I walked in and patiently wait my turn. The rep pulls up my "account" and says "Oh yeah I remember you because I put a note that we don't have your tire in stock." This is where the game starts. I'm thinking, if you know you didn't have the tire why didn't you call me and let me know before I wasted my time coming out here. A good business would have called me, let me know the tire wasn't in stock and gave me options. Such as, come in and discuss other options or maybe order the tires and they will be in later. I do now realize this was probably a sales gimmick to get people in the door. You get them in the door and if you don't' have a tire they kinda feel stuck and will buy some type of tire. I mean, it's effective, however it is very dirty. The sales rep goes through options. Here is another mistake. Instead of asking me my budget or looking at what I previously opted for and asked me how far I was willing to go outside of this, he immediately offers a tire that is almost 2.5 times MORE expensive than the one I quoted. I even tried to drop a hint that it was outside my BUDGET. Thinking maybe he would pick up on that keyword and ask me my budget. No such luck. He then shows me his computer another option but explains, "It's not as good of a tire but....". I explain that I prefer to stick with my original selection and can order it off Tirerack.com. Now, this is very funny. He says, "Tirerack doesn't carry that brand tire." I just stood silent because I already had it in my cart online. Suddenly he offers to order my tire to arrive the next day (Tuesday). I say, perfect I will come tomorrow. He asked what time and I explained the same would be perfect. After I left and really thought about the day, I'm a little upset. Currently I'm unemployed so I have plenty of time to spare, however there are many people who don't have this benefit. I was just thinking if I was a working person and I had taken the day off to get this handled, my whole plan would have been ruined. I mean, it's very disrespectful of a person's time. The next day I come back as promised. I patiently wait as they are busy. The same service rep didn't recognize me until he pulled up my file. He says, "I actually don't have your tire in yet. My delivery hasn't been made." Then some other employee comments something to the nature of they must behind because they were waiting on several tires. I say, "Ok, so..." At first he states that my tires won't be in today and then he said that they would be in later. So I'm wondering, which is it? These are two very different scenarios. He then shows me his screen as if I'm supposed to understand what it means. So here we are, day two and no tires at my appt time. He then states, "Here, I don't want you to wait around, so take my card and give me a call back later and see if they are here." I say.."Oook, no problem, will do." Honestly, I was lying completely. I was a little beside myself, but out of respect for others in the business I kept my thoughts to myself. This is TWO DAYS of me trying to buy tires from your business. TWO DAYS!! Now, the tires that were supposed to be in aren't here yet. That I can excuse, because you are dependent on a third party to deliver. However, where I drew the line was when I was told to call back to check on if the tires were there are not. For good customer service, you should offer to call ME when the tires arrive. I shouldn't have to do this much work to give you business. Luckily I was able to find a competitor who had multiple options in stock, asked me my budget range and did the installation within 3 hours of my call. read more

I went in to have a faulty tire pressure monitor sensor looked it. I am almost certain that the Big O on West Colfax broke it when they installed my tires last month when I had it in their shop. I did not want to bring it back to them because they damaged one of my wheels when I had it in their shop and refused to pay for it. The manager of this particular shop said he could not warranty the other Big O shop's work...why? I have no idea... That being said, he said he would work with me but asked me to wait until he was done dealing with a parts guy that had just shown up to deliver a part. I did as he asked and waited patiently as he helped two other customers that walked into the shop after me. He pretty much ignored me after that so I left. I will NEVER go back into another Big O Tire as long as I live. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this Big O and every other one. Take your car to Firestone, Goodyear, or Discount Tire. read more
