The only reason I didn't leave one star is on account of the amazingly friendly customer service. People who work there are clean, charming and personable. That aside... I have now gone in twice for simple repairs (brake pad replacement and alignment), both times I spent more after they "discovered" additional problems. I know the economy is bad, but in this area and this demographic, don't pull the classic mechanic move. The time I replaced my brake pads I was told I had a cracked rotor and had to replace it, for an additional 100 dollars. When I picked up my car, they could not produce this mysterious cracked rotor. I wanted to see it because I felt I was being shafted. Had family members use this location and same results... "Oh, we discovered a unicorn poking holes in your filter and had to replace it" (please get the reference) Again, great service, just wish I didn't leave with the I got screwed again mentality. read more

I saw that they change transmission oil and took my BMW for transmission oil change. It was with them for three dayss after three days got to know that there is a small transmission module problem and they had spoken to Funks motors who claimed that they can fix this problem. Bigotires said they will drive the car to Funks motors on Monday. Monday I was told that they have no drivers to take it there. Finally on Wednesday it reached there. Funks mortors kept it with them for two weeks promosing to look at it. Finally today Funks motors says it has gone back to Boigotires as they seem to know how to fix it.At the end of the day I dont know what is happening to my car as it is getting tossed here and there. About all these guys are good for are tires and oil changes. Almost every time I get an oil change there I'm told I need additional work, usually costing hundreds of dollars. I listen to what they tell me, then go to my mechanic who tells me things are fine, or the problem isn't as severe as I was told. It still costs me money, which pisses me off, but it's not the bankroll these guys try to take from me. Two instances really made me boil: 1) They told me I needed brakes, including new rotors. Took it to my mechanic and he showed he how much rotor was left, and said I could probably get by with two more brake jobs before having to replace the rotors. Sure enough, two brake jobs later, which covered well over a year, and not a single problem. 2) Recently I was told I had a coolant link and needed $700 worth of work done, part of which was replacing a cracked thermostat housing. There's never been any puddles or other signs of leakage in my carport. Take it to my guy - nothing wrong. There have been many others. I'll still go to them for tires because they have the best warranty, and I can always pit them against Goodyear to get the price down, and they seem to be adept at oil changes, but I'd never recommend them for any other service work. The only reason they get a second star is because they are good at tires. read more

I have to start this review off with, I have never been happier than the customer service that Shop Manager Steve had to offer during my recent trip to Big O' on 2/3/16.. After a run around, and absolute nightmare with with another shop in San Ramon, Steve at Big O' spoke to me on the phone for over 20 minutes reassuring me that his shop had the skill & expertise to re-correct any error and completely fix my car up to my satisfaction. Just after that phone call I knew I was going to be taken care of. I couldn't make the date and time on 2/2/16 that we had recently set up, and he was STILL able to fit me into his schedule and get my car in to the alignment rack within 5 minutes of walking in, WITHOUT an appointment. He is such a good guy; and I ABSOLUTELY recommend anybody to to take their car and trust Steve as his guys at Big O' Tires here on Dublin blvd. My car/ specs: (for you car guys out there) Lowered 2002 Lexus IS300 and they were able to completely align and get rid of my camber in the rear, and tuck my wheels in PERFECTLY up front front. Had my tires shipped from tirerack. Went in and they knew who I was already. Left my truck there and new Yokos installed by lunch. Easy. Install w/ TPMS service came out to about $140. Not cheap, but includes rotations. With the $$ saved w/ tirerack, it's the way to go to not deal with their upsell tactics. read more

Took my truck in to have tires installed. Great service, tires run out super smooth, very pleasant experience overall. Interesting to see so many negative reviews from people with modified vehicles. As an engineer I know that you are asking for trouble whenever you lower or lift a vehicle away from the factory design. Seems these guys modify the suspension, take it to Big O expecting them to make it drive like it did before the modification then get upset when Big O cannot perform the impossible? This is a follow up to my experience here... I contacted the corporate office and told them my situation, to my dismay I receive no such courtesty call back or an email to rectify my issue. Their motto is "Total Customer Satisfaction is the Big O Tire's Goal" - WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT. American Express did an investigation and told me that they (Big O) had no comment and supplied no docs to justify a non refund... nontheless American Express refunded my money 100%- it does pay to be a Platinum member! After the day I brought my car for the alignment problem here the following day I brought my "stock" truck to have a flat tire patched- right side front. No problem fixed....$20..... just recently I bought new tires at a reputable shop and during installation they found that the right front wheel had 1 lug nut missing and 1 broken lug nut...... guess what....BIG O fucked up again, they were the last people who worked on the truck... I know it was there prior to the flat repair because I changed my brake pads a month before I had a flat! and no one else has worked on it since. So, mr. engineer know-it-all you, regardless if a car is "modified" a good technician will tell you up front what issues are involved. It is not "IMPOSSIBLE" to align a modified suspension. I brought this car to a Mercedes shop, Presto no problem! I have had many sports cars with modified suspensions and experience tells me to never bring your car to a back yard mechanic shop- this is what big o is. My recommendation is if you come here, double check their work. Missing and broken lug nuts is a major safety issue. read more

I went to this location today to get an opinion on whether my tire can be fixed or needs replacement. Upon being told I need a replacement I agreed and we started the process to put an order. I asked the price and did a quick search to see if anyone is carrying them for cheaper and found Walmart to be cheaper and showed the price on my device. The employee (maybe manager I'm not sure) David very condescendingly replied, "well why don't you just get them from there then." Taken a bit back I said, excuse me? He replied, well this is cheaper then what I buy them for so I think you should just have Walmart install them if you can get that price. I confirmed with him that he will not match the price per big o tires policy that I read online? To which he replied no and handed me my car keys. While I waited for my car to be inspected and diagnosed I saw two people come in and be handled condescendingly and walking out of the shop. Not surprisingly both were women so three including me. Not sure what your practices are and what kind of training you provide to your franchisees for sexism but I don't plan on going back or to another location to find out if this location is a one off or if this is a trend in your company culture. The battery in my car was getting old but still working. I thought it's time to put a new battery in my car so three weeks ago I went to Big O Tires in Dublin, CA. They changed the battery and charged me around $200. Three weeks later, the new battery in my car stopped working. I took my car back to Big O Tires to get another battery. They said there was nothing wrong with my battery however the alternator in my car needs to be replaced. My alternator was working just fine until they put a new battery in the car. When they said the alternator failed, I asked them how come it failed immediately after you put a new battery in my car. Of course, they did not give me a satisfactory answer. They just kept repeating the same robotic answer - the alternator is not working. When installing the new battery, they should have checked if the alternator is OK. Well since I was now at their mercy with a car that won't start, they charged me about $600 for a new alternator. I took the car at 8 am and at 1:15 I asked them if my car was ready. They immediately "yes the car is ready". I waited for 5 hours to replace an alternator. Usually, it takes only 2 hours to replace an alternator. Others who came after me left with their auto repaired. Why 5 hour wait for me? Is it because of my brown skin? Whites, Blacks, and then the Brown? I don't know. Here is today's lesson - Even if it costs a few extra bucks, take your car to the dealer (or anywhere else) and certainly not Big O Tires in Dublin, CA. Go to Big O Tires only if you want them to fix the same problem more than once and charge you more each time. read more

Been coming here for years. Absolutely sick and tired of the nickling' n' diming. Last oil change I was advised I need a new cabin filter because it was described as filthy and my brakes needed replacing cause they were too worn. This oil change I get a call and I'm told the cabin filter is "filthy". I told him, "You told me that last time and I told you had one in my garage and I would do it when I got home (which I did). The reply I think pulled his hamstring from trying to backpedal too fast and changed his statement to, "Oh, I mean the main air filter." Uhmmm..... I changed both of them after the last oil change which I didn't tell him, nor did I have to. Then came the brakes... "They're worm down to 2 MM and maybe consider changing them." "No thanks, I'll check them when I get home", I told him. Afternoon call... (different guy) "Hey your car is ready and it needs a new cabin filter and your brakes are at 3 MM....". They obviously don't communicate with each other and they're trained to hold you upside down and shake you for all the loose change you have in your pockets for them to gather. All I want is a freakin oil change. DONE. Absolutely DONE. I'll take my 4 registered cars somewhere else from now on. read more

I called to get a quote on tire balance and rotation. The person who answered asked what type of car it is. When I mentioned the type of car (Tesla M3) and need tire balancing and rotation, they asked which tires do I want balanced, front of back. What?? Anyways, I was playing along and said front. The person than quoted me a price for this onetime service, which was twice as much as their competitors service for lifetime tire balancing and rotation. I had gone there last year for some other services for my wife's car. Big O just lost a customer forever. read more

Been going here for years I always get the best service.

I called over the phone to ask what services I would need at 60,000 miles for my car. I was told that my brake fluid needed to be checked or at least that's what I heard because when I went in I was told that my brake and coolant was OK until later down the road but my transmission fluid needed to be changed. When I went in I agreed to the transmission fluid change and was told it would take one hour And cost $160. I also asked about my air filters and they said they would check it like they do an oil change. I confirmed that it was just checking and not an actual oil change. Then, I was told after about 30 to 45 minutes of waiting i was told that it would take a bit longer (2 more hours). About 15 minutes after getting that call I got another one and was told my car was already done. When I went into pay they told me it would be $240. I asked why the price was different to which they told me they did a full oil change. They claimed that it was due for their records however they did not check my car system and I personally did not notice that my oil life was low which my car will alert me to. They also rotated my tires which I do not know why that was necessary because I just got new tires in the back that had higher tread than the ones in the front. The back tires are supposed to have higher tread to prevent slipping on the road. They did not disclose the higher cost to me until it was time to pay and they did not tell me they were doing a full oil change until it had already been done without my permission. Update: I was refunded for the amount charged for the oil changed. Much appreciated! read more

They truly understand that you earn long term business through how you consistently treat your customers. After buying tires and the lifetime warranties there, I've been back a number of times for flat repairs, free rotation and balancing and a couple of repairs not related to tires. They CONSISTENTLY go out of their way, and today helped me solve a real quandary just by offering great customer service that I don't think other shops would. Service is superb, quality not so much. Been here 3 times and only once was the experience less than stellar. They damaged a custom wheel by using a sharp metal blade to remove the existing wheel weights. They replaced the wheel foc. Whoever the tech was who damaged the wheel also broke my internal rear trunk wheel cover looking for the wheel locks. I only found this out several weeks later. I managed to get it fixed but he should've said something. I blame the tech, not Big O. We're it not for this one Tech's lack of quality, they'd get 5 stars. read more

I've been a very happy customer since 1975! The reason that I am so loyal is that when we first moved to this area, I felt that I was well treated, services were fairly priced and staffed with competent, friendly people. But, on top of all that, they really do try to take good care of their customers. I've never felt that I was ever pressured to purchase and service or products that were not really needed. I know this because I have a basic knowledge of automotive things. The following are a couple of examples of why I like this outfit. One time after a year or two of our first visit, we were going on a long car trip up to the Pacific NW and on over to Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana before returning home. I took the car in for a safety check and alignment. I mentioned that there was some sort of odd 'squeak' coming from what sounded like the undercarriage. They spent over half a day tracking down that noise and tightened everything up and the squeak went away. They never charged me for it! And I was assured of a super safe vehicle for our family vacation! A few months back, I began to smell hot grease after the engine warmed up. The right/front CV Joint vinyl boot had failed and allowed oil to be flung onto the hot exhaust as the axle rotated. They replaced the CV joint. After getting the car back, it continued to smell of hot grease. After a number of successive call backs to find the cause and additional work, they finally found the real cause for the awful smell. A hidden seal on the shaft from the transmission was leaking only under pressure. It was a tough one to find. During the repair of this, a broken retaining ring was discovered requiring them to hold the car another day. To make up for the inconvenience, they adjusted the cost to me of the other work that was done. These are just two examples of how they really do try to make sure the customer is treated fairly. There have been other favorable experiences over the 40 year of doing business here! It's a family run business and they are a great example of successfully living and growing a thriving business locally for about 50 years. That's why I can recommend them, unconditionally! My cars TPMS indicator lit up as I was driving on the freeway and I instantly panicked because that usually indicates that my tire is losing air and will eventually become a flat. I Yelp'd for the nearest shop and stumbled upon Big O' Tires. Once I got inside, I was greeted right away and was helped by Brian. I told him about my situation, he checked out all my tires and told me that none of my tires were losing air but he diagnosed the problem and said that my right rear sensor has either died or was malfunctioning which caused the indicator on my dashboard to light up. If the sensor's battery did die, you can't just replace the battery, you have to replace the whole sensor itself which can range from $48-58 (that's if you get the piece from somewhere else), my total cost today was $87+. Brian mentioned to me that these sensors usually lasts about 4-5 years, my 2011 Honda Civic LX was within that range. Now, if I knew that I didn't have a flat tire and that i just needed to replace my sensor, then I would have asked my boyfriend to do it to save some money but Brian and the rest of the workers were just so nice and kind to me so the price didn't bother me much, now I know what to do next time. Brian said that it would take 30 minutes to get the sensor replaced but I think I only waited 15 minutes. After I paid, Brian gave handed me some flowers which I thought was so sweet, PS: they give all the ladies flowers. Overall, it was a great experience. As a woman, I get very uneasy when I go to a shop because I feel like the workers belittle me just because of the fact that I am a woman and they automatically assume I don't know anything, but the workers here were great! Best example of amazing customer service I've seen in a long time. On our way south for work, the work truck started making a noise. The last time this happened, we visited our local BigO and had it fixed, so we looked for the closest location in the hopes that they would have our records. It was an hot and a half before closing and they were booked up, but when we explained our situation to Brian Rodriguez, he jumped right in to help. Our truck was on the lift within minutes, and the issue was fixed in no time. The estimate presented to us was a "worst case scenario" which we assumed we would have to pay since they took us so last minute, but they were beyond honest and didn't replace some of the parts that were still in good shape. worst service ever. i called and spoke to a nice gentleman name Jet over the phone and told him i need four brand new tires mounted balance and he ask what the size are and i told him they are 245/35/20 and 295/30/20. I quoted $12.50 per wheel over phone and ask if he was going to be at the shop the follow day. I showed up 11/18 around 5pm and was greeted by T.J i believe (what a rude individual). I mention to him of the get go i spoke to Jet yesterday and $12.50 quote and he went on and enter my info then ask me to sign a invoice without even gone over it. I looked at it and noticed $140 for all 4 wheels What! so i asked and he said that is correct. I repeated again and told him Jet gave me a completely different dollar amount. So, i ask for Jet and spoke to him in front of DJ ...Jet told me yes i did quote $12.50 with DJ stood next to me and then said maybe the amount i quoted was in correct. Then DJ went around and made rude comments and excuses that Jet meant balance only. HUH? Then i ask aren't you guys going to stand behind what you quoted, and DJ rudely said no with an attitude, stay away from this place and go to America tires right down the street and better price and serivice. read more
