Initially they informed that to change oil ,three hours waiting, six cars are ahead of me , I waited for three and half , and after inquiring three and half hour waiting in store , they say still three vehicles are ahead of me so either I can wait more or leave my car for the night. i had a flat tire and went to Wheelworks to get it fixed. I was their regular customer and when i told the staff about my tire, he said they would not have time to do it. It was 5pm when I got there and they were supposed to close until two hours later. So i decided to go across the street to Big O tires. Jason white (the store manager help me). He was very kind. He took the order and got my tired fixed within less than 30 minutes. When he handed me the invoice, he said he took care of it and all he needed was my signature. I saw the amount was $0.00. so I asked him how much did i owe him. He said, i did not owe anything. He took care the problem. I was in shock of how a store could do anything for free now a days. Been going to this place for a long time now. our family has gotten all of our tires here. we have full coverage on our tires and when ever we get a nail or a flat we can bring them here to get it fixed for free. they also helped me out getting a rim, for when the front tire of my saburban came of when the tow truck guy decided to tow the car on its back wheels..... and the staff is excellent. read more

I checked their website to get a quote for the the tires I wanted to buy. Before the website gives you a quote, they ask you to select the location of the shop you plan to purchase the tires from, so I selected the Newark Blvd. location. The website listed price was $128.99 each. I'm assuming the price that was listed for this location would be the price that I will be paying, so I contacted the store by telephone. I told the gentleman who answered the phone the tires I was looking to buy and he gave me a price of $153.99 each. I told him I was quoted the price of $128.99 each and asked why the price was a lot lower and he said there was an error and the website is wrong. I was unconvinced so I told him I would check somewhere else for a cheaper price (TireBuyer was selling them for $138.99 each). He was helpful in the way that he was willing to match TireBuyer's price per tire, however, after taxes and installation fees, it still came out to be a lot more than the price I would be paying through TireBuyer. Overall, I think their customer service was good because they were willing to price match. The reason for 3 stars is their misleading website price, as well as the inability to order anything online. read more

After i talked to Chris on the phone I was confident he was the one to do the alighnment on my lifted duramax with 35s. (Not the easiest truck to alighn) ... when dropping it of I was even more confident that it was going to get done right after talking to Chris in person. I ran over something on the Dumbarton Bridge and my tire blew so I had the tow truck take me here so they could assess my tire situation. They told me I just needed my car aligned and tire replaced. A few weeks later the inner tread on my newly replaced tire was showing metal and I returned to the shop. The attendant told me I must have hit something since my first visit because not only was my NEW tire in need of replacement my alignment was a degree or something off since my last visit. I ended up taking my car across the street to Wheel Works where they properly assessed my situation. My ball joint was broken. How does a tire place miss something like that? Two times. read more

These guys are great! I won't argue wait times with anyone: when you have 4 work bays and 20 vehicles with more coming in, it takes time. They've worked on all three of my vehicles for many years. The present are comparable, they're always friendly, and I think they do great work. I came in the other night 35 minutes before closing to order new tires for my car. They happened to have the ones I wanted in stock and asked if I'd be willing to wait to have them put on. I agreed. They worked about 40 minutes passed closing to ensure everything was right. They did it willingly and with no complaints. They didn't have to and I appreciate it. Brought my truck in this morning for a balance and alignment. I got here before they opened and I was first here. Per usual Saturday AM rush, folks stormed the door right when they opened. I was pleased that the crew had taken note of the order in which we arrived. Much to the chagrin of the people pushing their way to the front, one of the guys walked over to me and said "good morning! You're first, then this young lady.... " and so on. As a Ridesharing Driver, down time is money lost. I was having continuing issues with car care at a different company (The Boys). Usually if I get a flat on a weekend I am out of service for the week. I brought my car to Newark Big O, with one flat and a slow week. Without an appointment I expected to spend all day there. I had a small puncture hole on my passenger side right rear tire after our Lake Tahoe/Reno holiday trip. I got an oil change and tire patch from Big O via the LivingSocial deal and they did all that they promised on discounted prices (more than half price). I drive a White Isuzu Vehicross and needed to get a new valve stem replaced on one of my tires. Put on a spare since it was too flat and drove it to the Big O near my house. I used to come here years ago before I moved to Nevada. I told the manager (Jason) that I didn't have my papers but was sure I bought it from the Big O in Las Vegas. He didn't even bother contacting the Las Vegas stores and went right onto getting the work done. He checked the other valve stems and replaced all of them plus a missing lug nut for FREE!! A few months ago, I purchased 4 new tires from Big O. One of the tires kept going flat and I had to refill it every couple of days due to a problem with the rims. I brought the car back to Big O a few months after constantly dealing with this issue. They not only fixed that problem (so I would not have to purchase new rims) and but also checked for a potential coolant leak (car was overheating), and filled up the coolant -- all courtesy, free of charge. I went here about a month ago to fix a slow leak... they did that I left happy. Couple days after my TMPS light goes on, then off. Don't think much of it because of the tire issue that was just fixed. Well, now just over a month later I get into my car this afternoon and it had a tire pressure issue... I check the same tire that had issues last time, had trouble getting a read. But finally do it and it is really low! So come back to Big O see if they can fix it... guess what they are way to busy but they can help on Monday. Not sure what use that will be seeing as my tire they "fixed" is flat! So go to the place down the road. They come in and ask if I had issues with the TMPS because it was cut... guess there was a reason I was having issues! I am more than please with the level of service completed on my vintage Porsche! These guys went above and beyond to ensure I was fitted with the perfect size tire, (ordering multiple sets and trying them on) to work with my modified suspension. Retaining my original wheel weights because they are period correct and original to the car, they balanced with new weights on the inner side of my wheels!! All new tires were mounted in the exact orientation, in relation to the new valve stems that they installed! Every last bolt was hand tightened and torqued before they carefully drove it to the alignment rack! If you're looking for a shop that cares as much about your car as you do, stop here.. Last week, I found out my car need to change 4 struts from Wheel work, they quoted me over 900 dollars with labor. I shopped around my area and I found out Big O tire from Newark BLVD was the best price, less then 600 dollars, include everything, alightment. I dropped my car to replace the struts on Friday after noon. They called me to pick up the car, the guy is really nice gave me the discount and I'm very happy. Then Monday morning I drove my car to workon the freeway 880, my car was shaking and I heard a lot of noise on the tires, springs, and my steering was shaking. I tried to slow down from 60 to 5 miles and turned back home. I was praying nothing happen to my car or causing accident. I took my car to the shop and told them, later they found out that one of the screw on the back of my struts was losed. I was mad and really don't know what to say to them, their customer service is nice but their mechanical is poor. I hope everyone of us here check the car careful after they work on your car. Shortly into a telephone conversation with Chris, I began to feel that something was different. There was this conviction that something essential had changed. About halfway through the 2 or 3 minute telephone conversation, I asked if management had changed recently. Chris answered that it had a few months ago, but he didn't see why that mattered. I can't say exactly why I knew or what had changed; maybe because I was being pushed to authorize immediate replacement of a part that should have a few hundred miles of safe operation; maybe because of some subliminal awareness that I just wasn't held in high regard; I wasn't sure. Back in 2009, I brought my car here to get the brakes checked. At the time, a blond with graying hair, probably in his 60s, was Manager. He asked what noises the brakes were making. I answered that I had no problems, but the car was 10 years old, had 138,000 miles and was running on the original brakes. I didn't want to wait until more components were worn than the pads. They inspected the brakes and said I had another 5,000 to 10,000 miles left. There was a change in ownership in 2010. Sometime during the next few years, Brian became Manager. The inspection gave the same result; another 5,000 miles or so. Brian, however, suggested that I be sure and turn the radio off occasionally to listen for sounds during braking. Well, somewhere around 172,000 miles, in 2012, during the 4th brake inspection, I got my brakes done. That's it! There was a feeling that customer care and car care were both equally important to the two previous Managers. CARE vs. service. That the previous teams would gladly earn my money, but not until I needed to spend it, or (in one case, with another car) where I felt more comfortable replacing the Master Cylinder rather than just the leaking reservoir. I can't say what triggered the conviction that management had changed, but I have that same conviction that, if I had asked this team to inspect the brakes, they would have changed them at 138,000 miles and I would have lost 34,000 miles of use for no good reason except that I could pay for it. There's also an arrogant superiority that is now present. That just because you drive your car everyday doesn't mean your opinions, observations or knowledge of quirks should be carry any weight in assessing problems. They'll be happy to service your car. Will they limit that only to the service you need or request? Probably not. Will they CARE about you and your car? Seriously doubt it. read more

I had initially came in for a simple bolt replacement for 2 wheels, and it soon turn into something else horribly wrong with my wheels that i had no idea about. Ron called me right away to tell me the news about my wheels and the new 500+ cost it was gonna cost. I was freaking out and stranded. He thoroughly explained what it was that caused damage to my car and how they were going to fix it, he even offered to schedule me a ride home. I ended up having to leave my car there overnight, and since it was a lot of labor. The next day, i received a call at noon that my car was done! Ron was able to find cheap local wheels and fixed my car way faster than expected. When i went to pay, he even helped me out by only charging me for 1 hour of labor when i know for a fact it took at least 1 hour of labor per wheel. I will definitely be coming back, and referring everyone to go here! read more

I rolled in here at around 4:00 on a Saturday. I had just been to a nearby place to get an oil change, and they refused to do it, saying my tire had a hole, and that I should make getting that fixed a priority, as the wheel shops would be closing soon. He pointed me in this direction. I asked the guy behind the counter (I think his name was Christian?) if I could get the wheel fixed by the end of the day. He said it wasn't likely, as there were 7 customers ahead of me. I explained that I had to have my car ready by 530, as I had to go pick up my son in San Jose from a day trip. He took a look at the tire, verified that he had the brand in stock, and told me that my other tires were worn and needed replacing too. (they were, as they were over two years old). He offered me a deal, if I bought three tires, I'd get the fourth one free. I told him that would be great, as long as I got the car back by 530. I've never seen a team work so hard and so fast to get all of their customers out of there on time. He actually made time to change the oil as well, as that needed doing. I had to replace some tires on my Odyssey and dropped in to price shop. After talking to Brady and running through my options, he asked if I ever considered a Big-O tire. He showed me Big-O's Premium Touring tire, offered a great price plus a rebate, and when I was still reluctant, he said I could run them for a month and return them for something else if I wasn't satisfied. Not a pressure sale because I was the one expressing interest in learning more. Combined with Big-O's warranty and free rotations, etc. I took him up on the offer. I was very surprised to find the tires to be exactly as promised and I'm EXTREMELY happy with my overall experience here. No more Costco tires for me. read more

I've been here several times, wanted to find a local service for tires and minor repairs. First time I wanted to get a certain brand of tires, they told me they weren't available, so I ordered them online and listed big o as the installer. Installation went well except they asked me why I hadn't ordered them through big o. I was told they could get any tire and match prices. I bought a service contract for free balance and rotation,left confused, but service was ok. I just went back for an oil change with a coupon for19.95, told only covers 5-30 not 5-20 that my car and that they would give me $5.00 off and it would be 37.50 for just regular oil change. I left, tired of their nonsense, I suppose I will have to go to Fremont to get rotation, but maybe they will be better. Tired of these local big outfits. read more

I came in here to replace a torn tire. The options they had were cheaper than the O'Reilly Auto Parts across the street. Although I was bummed by some added fees (state of California stuff, plus an unexpected 17.50 mounting and balance fee), the service was really good. I have had my tires replaced here for about 20 years, no issues, I am a male. I made an appointment for my wife to have her free balance and rotation done along with an oil change. I know she needed a balance because there was a wobble on her front left tire and the weight that this shop put on had fallen off. Pretty simple. When she showed up for the appointment they decided to tell her she needed 2 new tires and an alignment. The alignment was done within the last 12 months from another shop that installed suspension. They are full of crap. They told her there was uneven wear. Of course there is, one of the tires was replaced by them for free within the last 6 months. One looks brand new and the others have a lot of miles left on them. The wear bars are about 1/8 inch from being exposed. I am not a tire expert but I can tell when men are trying to take advantage of a woman that has never been to a mechanic. I am frustrated that this crap still occurs and will NEVER go to Big O again after about 20 years of dealing with them. Why offer free rotation and balance if you aren't going to do it? Wheel Works across the street now has my business. read more

My car just went out of warranty, so I no longer go to the dealership and have been looking to find a decent mechanic near my work where I can leave my car for the day when and if necessary. I stumbled upon this particular Big O when my car got a flat tire. I assumed they were just a tire shop, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover they are actually a full service repair and maintenance shop. The owner/manager (?) Jason was great, both on the phone and in person. Very helpful and friendly, excellent customer service (including a ride to work....thanks!!). I fully expected to pay for a new tire, but they were able to repair it and save me the money. While I was there, I had them do a rear end alignment (which *I* felt was reasonably priced) and the car drives sooo much better now than it did before. I would definitely take my car here again for its next tune up, the impending brake job that I know has got to be coming down the pike within the next year, new tires, etc. read more
