I've never seen a more pathetic work crew in terms of their ethics and their ability to get it done in a quick manner. First of all the technician did a great job. No mess, efficient, good craftsmanship and on time. No problem here. My 3 stars goes to their pricing methods. I called their office asking for a price to install a toilet and was told that no such estimate could be given over the phone and would be evaluated and quoted once the worker arrived. When plumber arrived he looked at his phone and said "$382". Which I thought high since the new toilet was unboxed and moved near the installation point and old toilet drained of water with water turned off in a single story home with the front door 20 feet from the bathroom. A slam dunk, I installed the old toilet myself 40 years ago but age and lifting have caught up with me. Also, I had a new angle stop valve ready to go and was told that would be $160 more to install. I asked if that included a valve and he said "no, that would be $60 more" (I paid ~$9). A couple of months ago I installed 4 of the same valves under 2 sinks next to each other in the house myself in about an hour. I have a compression sleeve puller (not needed if you are lucky) and other tools required. I almost said "wait here, I'll install a new angle stop while you wait in the truck", but the old one didn't leak so I let it go. My point is the person at the main office should be able to quote a minimum price - I can't imagine an easier toilet to install than mine so $382 must be the minimum? And $160 to replace an easy to reach angle stop when the plumber is already on site and one that is not even under a sink is nuts in my opinion. read more

Our new washer and dryer were delivered, but the installer could not complete the water hook-up due to a frozen valve. OUR ENTIRE HVAC IS BRAND NEW I called to have the blower lowered on my ac. The technician opened up my unit and starts googling and reading me off the results then telling me it's impossible and if he cuts a wire it voids the warranty to lower the blower speed. Then he gets a call from a very experienced technician and tells me that I need to buy the service plan call back schedule another service and ask for a specific tech because he has 40 years experience, I asked him to tell them to just send a tech capable of completing my requested service. So then he tells me that we'd need to purchase a new motherboard and new blower, costing thousands of dollars. I decline and pay the 90$ service fee. We leave the house to come back and it's 85 in our house as the thermostat has no power. I call they say no problem the tech will be right back out. 2 hours later at 89 degrees I called back and they still couldn't give me an eta. Me (disabled) climbed into the attic to investigate because we have animals and the UNIT WAS LEFT UNPLUGGED. I called back and informed them it had power to cancel the tech to save them a trip. About 10min later I called back and explained it was blowing hot and the tech needed to still come. Again I asked for an eta and the response was "why does it matter do you have something else to do " I said yes still couldn't get any suggestion of an eta. I then get a call from the tech who say that he didn't touch anything that he didn't cause the issue but could come by at the end of his day no timeframe. About a hour later still at 89 degrees it started blowing cold I called the tech and told him he told me "see I told you." In that time I had reached out to another they said it no problem and it wouldn't void the warranty and a tech could come out that same afternoon. I informed the technician he said good because they just didn't want to mess with it in case there was problems later. Horrible service and it gets worse. I reached out to the online chat for a refund explained all this and was informed I would get a call from their care team. NO ONE CALLED. I called a few days later and explained the issue and was informed that it was emergency hours so no manager was there and I would get a call on Monday I even asked will someone actually call me and NO CALL BACK. I called and spoke with Krystal explained everything she said that she wrote everything down couldn't approve a refund and the manager would for sure call me back NO CALL BACK. So now I don't even want a refund, however I assure you we will never call you again not for anything as well as telling my story across any platform I use as well as social media. read more

I cannot recommend Bill Howe Plumbing due to a recent experience with predatory pricing. I was charged $1,900 for a standard 1.25" water pressure regulator valve installation that cost $799 when they did the exact same job for me in 2020. That is a 137% increase for a 1.5-2 hour job in my garage. When I disputed the invoice, they explained that the price hike was due to inflation and compared the increased price to eggs. Management admitted they now use a non-negotiable, centralized pricing model, effectively removing any transparency or local service-based judgment from their quotes. I was also not given a printed or emailed itemized contract until after the work was done.- If you decide to use them, protect yourself: -Get a firm, itemized quote in writing (printed or emailed) before they start. -Get at least two other quotes to compare. -Be aware that their pricing seems to no longer reflect fair market value for returning customers. read more

Title: Outstanding Service and Workmanship I cannot say enough good things about Bill Howe Plumbing. They are reliable, provide quality workmanship, and truly stand behind their work. I had a slab leak, and Bill Howe came out promptly and gave me a fair estimate to stop the leak and reroute all new plumbing pipes overhead. They moved quickly and took care of the problem professionally. During the work, one of my mirrors was accidentally cracked by a subcontractor they hired to open the walls. What really impressed me was how Bill Howe handled the situation. They researched and found a matching replacement mirror and took care of having it replaced, along with addressing a few other minor details. A few months later, the new floor installed by a different company, JCS Restoration, buckled in the area where the leak had been. I immediately contacted Bill Howe, and they came out right away with a team to investigate. They determined that it was not another leak and believed the flooring had been improperly installed. They even loaned me a dehumidifier free of charge while I waited for the flooring company to come out and inspect their work. Two and a half weeks later, I am still waiting for the flooring installers to come out. Unfortunately, they do not seem to stand behind their workmanship--but Bill Howe definitely does. It's not just about doing the job; it's about taking responsibility and making sure the customer is taken care of. Months, quarters, YEARS later, they will still mail, text, phone, and email you. Forever. You cannot flee. None of this has opt-out links. Or if they do have such a link, they clearly just ignore it. Inexcusably unprofessional handling of legitimate covered under warranty claim. Two years ago we hired this company to line our upper lateral at our home in Mission Hills. $20k of work covered by a 15 year warranty. Fast forward to a plumbing emergency : the ply this past Saturday night, when a clean out cap popped off and the sewer line backed up . We called their emergency line Saturday evening. We were treated like convicted criminals. Told we had a :NS on our account and that we refused a critical portion of the scope of work, which then voids our warranty. We tried to explain none of that was true: we did the work that was quoted and proposed, and paid in full for it the same day it performed. running down the front yard. I've never been treated more rudely at a vulnerable moment when we had to use the warranty we were legitimately owed. We were in a panic and just really worked up over how rude the on call manager Kenny was. I've never been spoke to by any professional in any field the way this guy spoke yo us. As a designer. Will make sure one of our clients and friends ever use this scam of a company that intimidates loyal customers at vulnerable moments. read more

I was so impressed from the start. From the first call to Bill Howe Plumbing the gentleman on the phone was such a great representative of the company-and was so very professional, as well as calming my nerves when I was explaining my situation. That initial contact is very important. I had three areas that needed addressed. From an upstairs toilet over kitchen leaking to having new tub installed. Each step of the way I had specialized employees address each issue. To say also everyone was on time is an understatement. Kitchen cabinet had to be removed and they kept as much of it together. The fellow who rebuilt the cabinets did a phenomenal job. A tight squeeze due to my tile work-and not a bit of tile was disturbed. During the process project managers stopped by as well. Joel diagnosed the situation with toilet and working around the tile work he was able to get to the work by going through the kitchen area below. He completed job then by going back to upstairs. Joel diagnosing situation and going through the kitchen area below to do work shows a person who takes time to diagnose and do repairs. I did have extra tile saved from previous tile work and they were able to match it up during restoration. I hope to get all the names of those who were here. To name a some-Joel Jose Francisco Armando Raphael--from initial Visit to restoration each person was on time -respectful of home-hard working -clean up each day. Cain was very patient in explaining each step and defining the costs. I have one more walk through with Cain to complete project. Cain did the first and I pointed out a couple of items and within a day they were addressed. I'm relieved I didn't have to on my own just had the plumbing taken care of and then me having to be the one to find painters cabinet makers, tile workers. I cannot recommend this company. I called their plumbing department for what turned out to be a simple bathtub leak. The leak could have been repaired by merely reattaching the freestanding tub drain to the pipe below. Instead of diagnosing the problem, the plumbers immediately referred the job to their remediation division. I specifically instructed the remediation crew to remove only a few floor tiles first so the extent of the leak and its source could be confirmed before any major demolition occurred. That instruction was ignored. Rather than performing a targeted inspection, they tore out not only the floor tile but also the wall tile, creating extensive and unnecessary damage and leaving my tenant living in a construction zone. There was some surface mold visible on portions of the grout, which is not uncommon where moisture has been present. However, there was no confirmed mold beneath the tile before the demolition began. Instead of first determining whether mold was actually present under the flooring with a limited inspection, the crew proceeded with widespread demolition of both the floor and walls. In my opinion, a careful, minimally invasive investigation should have been performed before causing thousands of dollars in additional damage. Dry it for a day with fans. The unnecessary demolition forced me to spend an additional $4,800 labor in replacing tile, (not to mention the extra plumbing required) and the cost of tile; and because the original tile is no longer available, the new installation does not match the existing flooring. A proper diagnosis and a measured approach would have avoided significant damage, unnecessary expense, and major disruption for my tenant. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I tried to reason with the supervisors but quite tone deaf to the situation. read more

My friend recommended Bill Howe Plumbing for my repair needs. They sent out their Drain Technician, Robert, to solve my clogged kitchen drain line problem. I've lived in my home for 16 years and have never been able to find the cleanout for the kitchen drain line. Robert was able to clear the drain; however, when he pulled the snake line out of the pipe, he found plant roots wrapped around it. I paid the standard fee for unclogging a drain that day. Robert returned a few days later with the line camera person to follow the kitchen drain path. He traced the pipe to a sheetrocked garage wall adjacent to the main sewer line. The 16-year mystery was solved: behind the sheet rock in the garage was the cleanout for the kitchen drain line. He cut a hole in the sheetrock, accessed the cleanout, and traced the kitchen drain sewer line. Afterwards, Robert extended the pipe from the garage wall so that I could sheetrock around it, allowing me to access it in the future. I asked Robert how much I owed for today's work. To my surprise, Robert told me the work he did was courtesy work, so there was no payment due from me. Wow, I didn't know "courtesy work" was offered by plumbing companies in 2025. The other five plumbing companies I've had out here in the last 16 years charged for everything. I highly recommend Bill Howe Plumbing for your plumbing, heating, air conditioning, restoration, and flooding. They don't play the "à la carte" charge-for-everything game that the other corporate plumbing companies play. It's nice to get some customer service that seems so few and far between in the 21st Century. read more

This review is not based on services rendered by simply the price difference in an estimate of services from Bill Howe vs. another local plumbing company. I appreciate cost transparency when shopping around and hope this review will help. There were three items on the estimate. Install a Halo H2 Zero (Bill Howe was $1,495 more than the other company at 6,900). The second was installing an Emergency Shut-Off System for the home (Bill Howe again was over $1K more, with an estimate of $2,109). The last item was connecting a dishwasher to a T-valve (both companies were comprable, Bill Howe being just under $100 more than the other company with an estimate of $385. I hope this helps if you are shopping around. I suggest getting atleast three estimates and don't go with companies who charge a "trip fee" for going to your home to provide an estimate. Again, this is not based on actual services but the significant difference in cost for the same services. read more

The main line blocked up in the 4 unit apartment bldg. I own. Tried to clear it myself with no success. Called Bill Howe and Christian came out only after an hour. He worked the line with one size auger and the drain cleared, but he worked it again with a larger auger to make sure. All great! This is a recurring problem every few months so Christian set up a schedule where they do a video camera line inspection to get solutions for roots etc. coming into the line. My AC stopped working on the hottest weekend of the year thus far. 90 degrees with a long haired dog and I was panicking. I called multiple companies to see who could come out and evaluate the issue, and despite having no AC in such heat, many places couldn't fit us in for 2+ weeks (which I understand but many websites advertised emergency services). A lot of companies also advertised 24/7 services and call lines, which was not the case. When I called Bill Howe, they were able to come out the next morning. The technician, Enoch, arrived on time and was super friendly. He was friendly with my cats and my dogs loved him. He kept me updated on the process and extra cost along the way (new filter). At the end of the diagnostic, he showed me the walk-through video and informed me an entire new unit would be required, however he did not price those out and someone else would need to come evaluate for that. I do wish the same person could do that and give a quote in the same visit, but it was otherwise great. When it came time to get the actual quote, Richard the technician called on his way and arrived on time within the scheduled window. He was super friendly, also loved on my pets (my dog was obsesssedddd), and spent a lot of time making calls and figuring out the appropriate costs before coming back to me with a final quote. He had initially given me some price point ranges and then was able to provide a more detailed estimate at the end with a few options. He gave the option for me to sign on the spot due to limited quantities of the cheaper unit, however was not pushy when I declined. I'm not sure I will use this company for the replacement itself as I have a lower quote from somewhere else and just want to get it done as inexpensive as possible and get out of this cursed broken house, but as far as how quick they responded initially and how great and friendly the technicians are, very happy! I would recommend them. If the price point between them and the other company were a bit closer, I would absolutely justify spending more based on their customer service alone. read more

Looking at some of my reviews, it is apparent that my focus is on the culinary side of things. That said, I felt compelled to share a recent experience having the services from the staff from Bill Howe Plumbing who could not have performed better for the job that I had. Their services cover many aspects of home maintenance that often require professionals to perform. Mine involved repair a water valve located inside of a wall, a job that was bigger than I wanted to tackle. The contact started with an appointment that was easy to make. It was then followed by an assessment, estimate and work that ended up being performed and completed on the same day! My service tech, Gabriel began the work on time and had a great friendly attitude and was completely professional. The work was performed neatly and to my complete satisfaction. The opening in my shower to make the repair was not detectable upon completion. This is my first experience with Bill Howe Plumbing and given the quality of work and complete professionalism with from everyone involved, it will not be my last. I hope this feedback helps improve things moving forward. One of the company's workers often parks a large box truck on our residential street in Serra Mesa, which makes it much harder for neighbors to find parking. San Diego has rules about commercial vehicles not blocking visibility or access, and unfortunately the way this truck is parked sometimes creates safety issues for those driving or walking in the area. I'd appreciate a more thoughtful approach to parking in the future, so residents can feel safer and have better access to their homes. read more

Our home water heater went out with leakage into the drywall& insulation causing structural moisture. We called Bill Howe plumbing on a Saturday (which is an additional $250.00 "weekend" fee). Our project required three separate departments all within the Bill Howe Company: 1. restoration for the water damage, 2. reconstruction to rebuild the water-damaged drywall & 3. the plumbing dept. to install a brand new water heater.
