I just purchased a 2013 Mini Clubman about 2 weeks ago. We first drove the Countryman which is fun to drive as well, but it was bigger than what I needed. Once I saw the features of the Clubman I was hooked - the 3rd door & the back barn doors, plus the rear seats fold completely flat for more cargo space. I do wish they offered real leather instead of "leatherette" but it wasn't a deal breaker. They also don't knock too much off the price, but honestly I don't enjoy the price haggling with car dealers so it was fine. If you want a "cheaper" car go elsewhere. No doubt you will find plenty. My salesman was Adam White. While Adam is very new to the Mini world he is very pleasant and was very helpful with the information he did know. They let me take the car home for a sleep over to have some more time to decide on the purchase. then the next day I went back to finalize the sale. Once I got into the finance office the process was quicker than quick so Adam was able to then spend some time with me going over the features of the car. We had encountered other "know it all" salesman at other dealers (not Mini) and were very turned off by this. This is my first Mini so I do hope the maintenance is minimal & that the performance remains impressive as it is now. read more

Mini is a great brand with lots of history and loyal followers and a dealership like Bill Jacobs serving the second largest city in IL should be a better steward of the MINI brand. Unfortunately, as many Yelp reviewers point out, service, follow-through, commitment, honesty, & integrity, appear to be missing from this dealership. it seems to me that Bill Jacobs views MINI as an afterthought - the unwanted stepchild- never fully embraced, but tolerated due to necessity. The ambivalence at Bill Jacobs comes from the very top and works its way through the entire dealership. In the last year, they have had at least 5 different managers and at times no mangers. In that same time frame, 70% of the sales staff quit or got fired. Even now, out of everyone there in management and sales, only 2 people have been there over a year! read more

They helped me get a great loan and a good warranty for someone that doesnt have the most credit. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE!!!!! This is the worst service ever!!!! My experience started out with bringing in my MINI in for regular oil service maintenance. First off, I scheduled this service in advance so that I can get a loaner and go about my business. I get there in the morning and the Service Advisor Kyle K. says that they were out of the Mini loaner cars and instead had to get a rental car. Granted they would cover the rental but what is the point of reservation if you're not going to hold the car for me?!? I felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld. His only reason was, there were other people before me that had gotten to it first. If it's first come first serve, then what's the point of taking reservations??? At this point no big deal, I just wanted to get my oil change. What is the most upsetting about my experience here is when I called about the status of my car mid day, Kyle said there were still 4 more cars ahead of me and they will not get to my car until the following day and the car would have to be at their lot overnight. Clearly they were overbooked! If that was the case, why would you accept a reservation for a service if there is not enough time? Another thing I didn't like is he basically gave me the guilt-trip to keep the car there because they already paid for the rental car and he said that he could loose his job especially for a car that was brought in and not serviced. Who's fault was that? He said if I could give him another hour, he will push back the other cars ahead of me and get my car done. I didn't feel right about that as I didn't want to get my services rushed and it would be unfair for the other people ahead of me. The worst part is, as I hesitatingly said "ok", I WAS STILL TALKING AND HE PURPOSELY HUNG UP ON ME! I called him back and got his voicemail instantly. It was definitely not a loss of connection. I was so livid that I tried to call the supervisor just so that I can explain what happened. The unfortunate part is they were not around and I ended up talking to Chris, the service coordinator. It was only then, Kyle called me back and said I can pick up the car without the service being done. During this call he did not apologize what-so-ever. His demeanor from start to end was lack luster, dry, and his actions or lack thereof was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I get there and went straight to his desk. He was helping another person. I could have embarrassed him in front of another customer but I just wanted my car. The whole time I was standing there, he did not say a word, until I kept looking at him with aggravation on my face. All he had to say was "Hey" At this point, I didn't even care to talk to him and looked for someone else's "assistance" The unfortunate part again is no one had any supervisor business cards to give to me that was available, and supposedly there is no main general manager to talk to. It was only this one guy from BMW and not MINI who really tried to help me get some information. There were numerous times Kyle could have apologized to me and he didn't. This is NOT A GOOD EXAMPLE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. His demeanor gave me the impression that he didn't want to be there nor does he care about the customers. My one mistake is coming here! I should have read the yelp reviews. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!! I will report this to MINI USA corporate. This is not a good extension of the MINI experience and brand. read more

Service and execution is always top notch. Staff is experienced, attentive, and efficient. The facilities are spotless. The work has always been completed on schedule and properly. Features like their free loaner and car wash make scheduled maintenance headache free and quick to get in and out. I purchased a Mini from Bill Jacobs in 2005 and my warranty ran out 6 months ago. I took it in a week ago with a couple of problems for them to fix. Of course, they told me there were an additional 5 things wrong with the car that all needed to be fixed immediately and would cost me $2,800 on top of the original repairs of $450 or so. I don't know about everyone else, but that's a staggering amount of money to spend on a car with only 33,000 miles on it. I wrote down exactly everything they said was wrong with the car and called a BMWw service station recommended by a friend (Minis are made by BMW) who said he'd worked on a lot of Minis and could look at the car and determine whether the work is really necessary. Out of that whole whopping list, only a small light on the rear bumper actually needed to be replaced and cost $12 to do it (Bill Jacobs wanted $170 to do the same thing - it pops in & out and takes seconds to replace but they were going to charge me an hour of labor!!). They are obviously dishonest and I will not be going back. In addition, the service rep looked totally hung over and bleary-eyed when I dropped off the car and really couldn't be bothered with much. The loaner car they gave me was dirty on the inside, covered in dog hair and obviously hadn't be detailed at all. Not what I expect in quality service from BMW! If you need work done on your Mini, go to Chicago Import Service on Clybourn & Webster. Alex is the manager and super nice. read more

We discovered today that our mini was not outfitted with the usb/blu tooth features that we agreed on. The salesperson Kyle spent a good deal of time while we were doing paperwork explaining how to set up blutooth, showing us the cord that plugs in the ipod, and then when we were in yhe car, where the plug goes and how the buttons operate. At the time I didnt crouch down to inspect the port as I had no doubt that it was actually where Kyle was pointing. So it isnt there. After 2 calls and emails to Kyle and manager Mark, Kyle called to tell us that we must be confused, that he never told us this car had those features installed. Mark then got involved. He also explained that we must be mistaken, he won't and in fact doesnt need to do anything to resolve it (we're talking about a $500 feature here). Ultimately, he said he didnt have to tolerate our anger and HUNG UP on us. So check everything, sign nothing, and watch your back when dealing with this team. Clearly they dont give a hoot once they have your $. Forget forging a long-term happy return customer relationship. read more

RIP OFF!!!!! and SCAM ARTISTS!!! I brought my daughters 2008 Mini in for just an inspection after purchasing used elsewhere. I had checked out car entirely and night before checked radiator fluid, topped off, etc... The dealer calls and says radiator fluid needs flush and fill, trans fluid needs flush and fill, tires need rotating = $850!!!! Told them no. Then they say oh yeah your oil pan is leaking. I get the car back and low & behold: radiator fluid is black like they spiked it to look dirty, hours earlier it was bright yellow then I read owners manual and look under car at trans pan: factory says do not change trans fluid good for life of vehicle. So the dealer is telling me to flush and replace fluid for a car that the manufacturer says not too. Also, no oil pan gasket leak??? BEWARE!!!! read more

I had the most pleasurable experience buying my MiNI from this dealership. My sales person was very knowledgeable, guided me through the process without being too pushy or aggressive, was very courteous and professional. The whole car-buying process went smoothly, I did not feel rushed at any moment, and everyone I had to deal with seemed to know what they were doing and how to take care of me as a customer. Horrible!!! Every time I go there I wait and wait and wait. When I bought the car they told me, "If your ever in the area come in and we will wash your car." Yeah right!! I took it in and waited an hour and half for them to give my car back. Another time I went in and was told my repair would take an hour. Three hours later I begged and pleaded to have my car back because I had an important meeting to get to at my kids school only to be kept waiting another 30 minutes!! This last time I stopped in wanting to make an appointment the guy told me he was busy and would get to me. I wasn't in a hurry but I ended up having to leave and I was told as I was leaving that he couldn't make repair appointments anyway and he had only planned to give me the automated number. Really??!!!?! You made me wait 30 minutes to give me a phone number the he failed to give me the number giving me his card instead. I bought my mini here brand new and I truly believe it was the biggest mistake of my life. Especially since the car ALWAYS needs to be serviced. read more

Buying a car at Bill Jacobs Mini was one of the worst experiences ever. The salespeople are only nice enough to get your business and then they don't care about you at all. Their finance dept is a joke. They turned their collection agency on me even though we provided a valid check. It was completely the finance dept's mistake. I called the dealership to straighten things out and was treated in an extremely rude and disrespectful manner. I would NOT recommend buying a new car at Bill Jacobs Mini to ANYONE. I love my MINI. One of the perks of purchasing a new MINI is "free maintenance". Eek! Methinks not. There was great confusion about when I should bring in the MINI for maintenance. The computer indicated that it was due. When I brought it in for service, Bill Jacobs service said, "No, it doesn't need service. I don't know why the computer indicated you needed service. We've reset the computer. Don't come in until it says you are due for service." At 11000 miles, I figure it's time to come in for an oil change, even though the computer says I still have 1600 miles. When I check in with the service rep., she says..."why didn't you come in at 5000 miles to have the tires rotated? Why are you just now coming in for an oil change?" Ok, I'm confused. Now, she says..."you need three new tires. Total cost $780.00." Wow. That's a bit much for tires after 11000 miles. I inquired about a warrantee on the tires. She says "we don't honor the tire warrantees." What brand tire will you replace them with? "Same original equipment." If I have the same problem in 10000 miles, will you honor the warrantee? "No." I went to Discount Tire and bought two tires (which was all I needed) at $55 each. I brought the invoice to Bill Jacobs Service and the service rep said "Wow, there must be some mistake. I'll look into this." It's been over one month and still no word. Also, I never received a request for a review of service. That make me suspect that they only request a review of service from obviously content patrons. A friend of mine bought the tire package from MINI. Free tires for the life of the car. About a $2000 add on. Only problem with this is that they require tire rotation every 5000 miles at the tune of $119 each time, or the warrantee is voided. Bottom line: Mini is great. Bill Jacobs service is not. Find another dealer. read more

They showed me everything under my car that they would check for any repair. I came in for a new battery and they recommended a couple of other items be done. They ended up doing a cooling system flush which they said should be done. When I bought the car I certainly didn't expect service to be so expensive. This is as good as it gets. We bought a Mini from this dealership last night. I expected a typical dealership with high-pressure sales, heavy smokers, delay tactics, negotiating battles, etc. We were blown away by the beauty of the show room and the friendliness of the sales staff, financing manager and everyone else we met at Bill Jacobs Mini. It was not high pressure, they were very reasonable in negotiations and I left feeling like I made the best purchase possible. By far and away this dealership was the best we have ever been to. We don't live anywhere near this dealership, but will absolutely buy our next car here as well. read more

A few days before i came in to the dealership, I spoke with Aaron Fogt on the phone and confirmed a test drive appointment for Friday, 9/20/13 at 7pm and he told me to look for James Gerhardt when i arrive. I came in at 645pm and was walking around in the showroom for about 10 mins without anyone greeting me. I then went to a (blonde) sales lady and I told her that I talked on the phone with Aaron and that I have an appointment with James for a test drive. But, she didn't have any idea who James nor who Aaron was until I told her the last name of James, which is Gerhardt. It turns out he goes by Jim... Anyway, she said that James (Jim) had already left and she referred me to Adam White. Not sure why she asked Adam to help me out since it seemed like she wasn't doing anything at that moment and at yhe same time Adam was attending to another customer. Anyway, I'm glad that I got Adam instead. He was very helpful and he let me test drive a Countryman and a Clubman that night. Adam was very busy that night attending to 3 different customers including me. He tried his best to accomodate my and the other customers request while the other sales people was just standing around doing nothing. After the test drive, I told Adam that I am very interested with getting a Mini. He told me to come back the next day and apologized about the crazy night. I came back the following day and he let me test drive the Countryman again since I really wanted to finalize my decision. I then went ahead and told him that I wanted the Clubman S with the specific things that I wanted on the car. To make a long story short, I ended up configuring my Mini and ordered it to be delivered in 6-8 weeks. The paperworks that I signed were a bit informal but I guess they will do. They gave me an estimate on the lease and financing. Also, the manager, James Gerhardt was actually very accomodating and easy to deal with especially with negotiating on my trade in. If everything goes as planned, this will actually be the easiest and smoothest car buying experience that I have ever had. ( I've been switching cars every 2-3 years for and have gone through 4 cars already). I would have given more stars if it weren't for the initial experience with the other sales person but Adam and James have been very helpful so far, especially Adam. I will keep you all posted and will give my final review once I take delivery of my new Mini. read more

I just bought a new Mini Cooper from Bill Jacobs and I wish I went with my gut feeling to go someplace else. The level of unprofessionalism I experienced there honestly makes me wish I never bought the car. I first dealt with Brenda who was very professional & relayed my interest in a 2015 Mini Cooper S to Kyle, a motoring advisor. I made it very clear I wanted it to be a quick and painless transaction. I asked a few questions from Kyle and received a prompt response answering my questions. Great, I had a couple more follow-up questions to ask via email, then nothing. Brenda, even though I had emailed Kyle, followed up with me informing me she would follow-up with Kyle. I then receive an email from Ryan advising me that Kyle was transitioning to another department and that he would be handling it (Fine, a little hiccup, but nothing to be too upset about. People change positions all the time). I then relisted my questions and wanted to see what the price was as I was paying my car by check. Half my questions answered, I put down a deposit and then I made the appointment to view my potential new Mini. My partner and I were so excited having been Mini enthusiasts for years. Driving 2.5hrs to them, we were attempting to avoid the snow storm Gorgon as it was moving into the area that very evening. I then receive a voicemail from Dana, that Ryan was not in and I would be finalizing my deal with her. That's now 3 sales reps I've dealt with for one car. Not impressed, but we left a voicemail with Dana 1.5 hrs prior to arriving at Bill Jacobs that we would be 1.5 hrs early to beat the storm. We arrive at the dealership 1.5hrs ahead of my original 7:30pm appointment. My partner and I met with Dana and sat down to finalize the purchase. We first presented the cashiers check (I've always purchased my cars with a cashiers check - ie. Isringhausen, Napleton, etc) & sat down for the paperwork all the while she hummed & bounced to the songs on the overhead. She also left the table and returned more than 8 times, once even dumping the folder contents on the table with key fobs and papers sliding all over the desk looking for paperwork. I was not amused. I can see this if I just walked-in and wanted to a buy a Mini randomly. However, I had made an appointment and settled on price (no trade), I was expecting them to be better prepared. Two hours of paperwork and waiting go by (we were never offered to see the car not to mention test drive it), we met with James. Formalities through, he flatly informs us that Bill Jacobs does not accept cashiers checks as policy, but will take a personal check or the option of financing. We refuse. Why finance when I have "cash money" ready to pay for the car? We threatened to walk out. After at least 20 mins of waiting, he presented a compromise, we would finish all the purchasing paperwork there and he would have the vehicle delivered to us following day on the proviso we wire the money to the Bill Jacobs account the following day. We were promised by James that it would be delivered as if we picked it up there at the dealership, clean and a full-tank of gas. Upon leaving, Dana attempting to lighten the mood cracks a joke about Bill Jacobs being the only dealership that does not accept cashiers checks (did she know prior?). As much as I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, it hit a sour note. If we had been notified that they did not accept cashiers checks (or listed on their website, which it was not)and given the alternatives, we could have wired the money to their account earlier, done the paperwork, and drove home with a new Mini. Instead, we wasted 3hrs only to leave without a car and drive home in winter storm Gorgon in near white-out conditions. So, the next day, money is wired and I receive a call from Ryan (big surprise) that he will be driving the car down from Bill Jacobs to my home leaving around 12:15pm. Fine, so I cleared out my schedule along with my partner as we awaited our new Mini. We thought it was all behind us now. WRONG! 3 o'clock rolls around, no car and no messages from Ryan. Well, considering the weather and road conditions, ok. Then 4 o'clock; no car, no call. We called the dealership and spoke to Ivan (the manager) and were informed lightheartedly that Ryan actually left around 1PM. No one thought to tell us that? So finally, 5 o'clock (nearly 5 hours after I was told he was leaving), Ryan shows up with my NEW Mini: dirty carpets, filthy car body, and a 1/2 tank of gas (having to pass 3 gas stations and 3 car washes on the way into town). Ryan never introduced himself to me or my partner and behaved like he did not want to be bothered. I get it that he was probably told to deliver the car, but that does NOT excuse his behavior. He is representing Bill Jacobs Mini & MINI. There was such a huge opportunity to salvage the situation and rekindle our faith in Bill Jacobs Mini. It was an opportunity lost. read more

We received a quote for $2300+, $1900 of which was a fluid flushes: Brakes, Engine, Trans, everything but colon, and none of it was listed in Mini's maintenance schedule. Kyle was not at work.. so we talked to Irma Christian. She was very professional & friendly. Between her & the sales manager, Ronny Bataineh, they helped us find a car we could lease. The sales staff was great when I bought my car and the service staff has been awesome. I had an intermittent problem and they solved it for me and I was so happy with them and the way they handled everything so professionally. I drove a loaner car while they worked on my car so there was little to no interruption to my life. They called me every day with updates and let me know the progress of the repairs. Wonderful dealership!! I was working with 2 Mini Dealers and while Bill Jacobs is 1 hour from my house (the other dealer was much closer) Alex Kaffel won my business! When my requirements looked like they would push the cost of the car outside my reach, Alex kept saying he wanted to earn my business so he worked with his manager Ronny Bataineh and they came up with the perfect car right in my price range. The dealership was clean, bright and they have a ton of cars! Would definitely recommend them to my friends! I have only recently began to deal with Bill Jacobs Mini for repairs on my 2009 Clubman. I started to have things start to go bad on my car @ 95,000. I had my car at a few other repair places and I had a general idea as to what was going on, but I really had no choice but to see BJM and I'm glad I did. They have worked with me on all my repairs with fairly reasonable pricing (as I did not have 'minor' repairs at this point),as well as list out the priorities for the repairs. I have worked with 2 different gentlemen in the service department and they were awesome! I am very happy and very satisfied with their service. read more

Yesterday I spent hours at the dealership, starting with no service upon walk in. I asked about new and used and they basically said well you looked on line you tell me what you want. I wanted to know about interest rates of new vs used. I said show me what you have. Basically I spent half my time there looking up cars online. Decided on a Mini cooper and while at the sales persons desk another sales person said can I get those keys. I said I'm buying that car and she said its fine its between this one and the blue one for the other people. So we continued. While they are getting me a price on my trade they seriously sold the car out from under me. They didn't even negotiate the price so I was paying list already. The sales manager said it was a first come first serve basis and I hadn't signed on the dotted line. When I said there was no line to sign on he said, its not like your trade was going to make or break the deal. After they only offered me half of what my car was worth as a trade on Edmonds. The sales manager not only lost this sale but ALL our business not to mention the poor sales guy who lost a commission. It was THE worse car buying experience ever. After reading the reviews, I must admit I am nervous about purchasing from Bill Jacobs in Naperville. But, I have a car on order and until I have a negative experience, I would like to take the time and let people know about my sales person, Adam White. Adam worked very hard to find me a car the perfect car. He called me almost daily to update me on the search and kept me completely informed. It made me feel like he was sincerely interested in making my experience a positive one. So, while my experience with Adam has been top notch, I will return to this site to inform the public of my experience after actually having my car.
