My experience is apparently in contrast to the others for Bill Jacobs Mini. I have been working with Brad, one of the service advisors on a major repair. Brad took the time to explain the reasons for what occured and why it occured. He also gave me options and alternatives at varying levels of cost rather than imposing upon me the highest priced option. His accommodating demeanor, patience and thorough explanations of alternatives were compelling; I decided to proceed with Bill Jacbos Mini for this complicated repair. My poor review is for the service department, not for sales. I bought my mini here and had a fine experience with the sales department. The service side, however, is not good. They really dont value the customer. My car is under warranty so perhaps that is why they were so unmotivated to help, but after leaving 4 messages, I was never called back. I ended up going to another mini dealership for the service. I am VERY disappointed with this dealership in that after selling me my mini, they were horrible in helping when I had a problem with it. Buyer Beware! Deceptive salesmen! Tricked into buying WRONG CAR! I have been coming here for years servicing my Mini Cooper and returned last Saturday to buy a new one. I thought I could trust the sales team to be honest and helpful- unfortunately this was my first automobile purchase, I am a 21 year old girl and no mechanic! Aldo Huerta completely lied to me for hours selling me a vehicle I did not purchase! He lied about the ENTIRE MODEL- said the car was a 2016 JCW Mini Countryman with twin turbos!! He said the window tag was incorrectly printed (which said it was a base countryman) and had every excuse in the book as to why the car didn't appear to be what he was describing. He lied to me about several aspects of the car, too much to even get into detail about! Got the car home, had my Dad inspect it, read through all of the literature included with the car and turns out--I was right, not a JCW, Aldo had lied, and I had been fooled. He either never checked his facts once throughout the course of several hours, or worse, knew what he was doing. I was completely tricked into buying this car that I personally didn't like, but Aldo had told me all of the great features included in the car (lies) and I trusted him. It was a deal I couldn't pass up! I brought this up to the sales manager, Ronny Bataineh- he is no better. He said I could TRADE THE CAR OUT (losing most of my large down payment) even though I had bought it about 4 days ago and it was sold via DECEPTION and MISREPRESENTATION. He made up for the mistake with some graphics for the car, and promised some "Mini gear." Came to pick up my car today and had to wait an extra 20 minutes for a mirror cap to be put on (late for work) because Ronny never got around to it and he "didn't know when I would be there to pick up the car" (1. It had been there a full week 2. I was told to pick up the car 24 hours ago, said I would be there today at this time.) I asked him about the Mini gear he had promised in front of my dad (I am alone at this point) and he got extremely offended, threw the price in my face of the graphics they put on my car and said I could pay for what they had done for me and he would "grab me 2 water bottles" if I wanted the "gear" he had promised. Just mind blowing! This whole experience has been an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. The service team at Bill Jacobs has been great to my family and me over the years, especially Dean and Mitch; unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the sales team. I am sad, disappointed and embarrassed that I was tricked and then treated the way I was by the manager. I urge anyone thinking about buying a Mini from Bill Jacobs to please re think their choice in a dealership. I want absolutely nothing more from this sales team, I'd like to never deal with any of them again; I just hope no one else ends up in the situation I am in now. You shouldn't have to have a personal mechanic and lawyer present to buy a vehicle- but you just might want one here! read more

Ok, let me start by saying I NEVER write a bad review for any business, however, the nightmare that I have experienced over the last 5 years is a story that needs to be told. I bought my mini in 2007 brand new. It was made to order for me. I paid about 29,900 for the car pretty much fully loaded. I was so excited and within a couple of weeks I had a flat tire. Now, things happen, right. Well, since that flat I have lost count. I have replaced, I'm approximating here, @ least 10 tires?? Again, once you get in this far you stop counting. I have had the car in for repair so many times I definitely lost count of that. The last time I was there(in the spring) I spent around $1,000. A month before that (in December) I spent $4,000. The numerous other times probably adds up to another $4000+. I am a good driver who doesn't speed or do wheelies. I just drive to work everyday, mostly highway driving. I am on the verge of paying another $900 for another repair, however not @ mini, I took it to another place. I am sooooo busy that in the past I always had it serviced @ the dealer because they gave me a loaner, but this time I said NO MORE. The place I took it to said he didn't know how the struts could have been overlooked, they were sooooo bad, if I had work done in the last few months. I told him of my experience @ the dealer and he said his sister who also drove one had a similar experience with hers. Let me say, that the service person who checked in my car was extremely helpful and nice, this is not a reflection on him. I suppose this is more of a reflection on the technicians or the management, but I got a lemon and Bill Jacobs has never addressed that obvious fact. I felt I should make my story public to save someone else from going through this kind of financial hell. This car has never been in perfect working order almost from the very beginning. I'm just glad that yelp gives me an opportunity to let others know. Again, I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't feel completely used and abused!!! We just bought our new mini from Bill Jacobs and it was one the best car buying experience we had. Funny how no one mentions the most important thing in their car buying experience and that is the final sales price. After spending close to 5 months hunting for a car, my wife and I decided on a mini cooper S. They had just changed the body design and we found that the 2013 were not selling well. So we went in search of the best deal. We visited 3 other mini dealers and emailed the rest in the area. Since Bill Jacobs is a hike from Chicago, we didn't want to waste our time going up there if the price was right. We found a number of dealers who were actually sitting on more 2013 inventory than 2014, but the discounts they were offering were very small. Jacobs on the other hand was actually selling cars and only had two left. After some back and forth over email we were offered a deal that was over 2.5 K less than the lowest offer we had received from other dealerships. Bottom line, they wanted our business, so we locked in the price and picked up our car last night. Was exactly as described in our emails and they didn't try any last minute funny business with the price. Clean and smooth transaction. They even picked us up from the metra station in Naperville. Kudos have to be given to Kristin Myhre who was an awesome sales person and Greg Fogt. Can't say anything about the service department, but if price is important you owe it to your car search to contact them. read more

My Mini was not purchased from this location, so I cannot rate the retail experience, but I service it here frequently. The service staff is knowledgable and friendly. I also really like the waiting room. They offer Starbucks coffee, tea, mini water bottles, Chex mix, animal crackers, and IPads to use while you wait! I actually don't mind having to wait for my car to be serviced. Minis are the best cars in the world and I don't think I will ever go back! read more

This place ruined the car's rep. Had to go a few times to just change the battery and was told repeatedly that the battery is fine and then supposedly the alternator was the issue which they supposedly swapped for a new one. Then only did the battery still wouldn't work after the supposed new alternator. Before all this, the salesman said I had to get there and he's feeling under the weather. Then not too long after, was approached via phone to get a new Mini since they're so high in demand and that I would get a great price back for it. This also happened before the battery kept dying as well. Seems like they don't want to fix your car but want to rope you into getting a new one by trading in your current/old Mini. read more

I would not recommend anyone to do business with this location when not only a front line employee is being deceptive, the General Sales Manager was as equally deceptive and unprofessional. The goal was to trade in my vehicle and purchase one of theirs. My intial experience was OK. This involved being met my sales rep and test driving a couple cars while they appraised mine. After getting a low trade in value we decided not to continue and left the dealership. This is where the poor business practices began. The rep followed up with a phone calls days later informing us he could ""increase the trade in value to accomodate our needs."" We did not respond and then the rep called us again stating he could make this work. Finally, we gave in and contacted him to arrange another meeting. On this phone call, the rep explained how he could accomodate our needs by meeting our requests so we agreed to stop by the dealership and finalize everything. This is where the poor unethical business practices were at an all time high. He asked to appraise my vehicle once again and then presented options for purchase. At this time he presented a clear "bait and switch". informing us a lower trade in value than previously quoted by him and monthly payments higher than quoted on the phone. It was evident the rep was misleading us to get us in the store to hard close us. At this time I was disappointed that he was not being truthful so requested to speak with his manager that was writing the offers on the paper with an * stating, "pending credit approval." My first impression of the Manager was evident he was irritated that he presence was requested for clarification. After a brief run around of #s and shallow apologies on behalf of the misleading rep; I asked what did he mean by pending credit approval. Were the #s based on excellent - good-fair credit scores. I explained I knew my score was good, not excellent being I had it ran earlier that day He chose to be malicious and stated, and I quote, " 90% of the population have a 720 or higher credit score" I disagreed with him and he responded that ""his normal clients averaged a 720 credit score."" Thus is evident he was being selective, arrogant and impatient. In closing, I would not recommend anyone to do business with this location when not only a front line employee is being deceptive, the General Sales Manager was as equally deceptive and unprofessional. I purchased my 2006 Mini CooperS from Bill Jacobs Mini 4 years ago and since then I have never taken my car anywhere else for service except back to Bill Jacobs Mini. They are knowledgeable, helpful, courteous and professional. I have never had any problems with my car or with the parts and service I have received and if anything ever came up, Brad, who is the service advisor that always takes care of me and my car, handled it immediately. I purchased a mini cooper S from Bill Jacobs Mini. It took a lot of work to purchase the car. Every time I called to try to put the deal together I got voice mail. The funny thing was they never called me back. After i purchased the car I tried to arrange a "walk through" for my wife (it was to be her car). The same story. Voice mail. And as usual I never recieved a called back. So, we figured the car out ourselves. It is a nice little car and I was satisfied with the deal. Flash forward 1-1/2 years. I am being sued by Cook County. I live in Cook County.. Bill Jacobs is in DuPage County. During the paperwork for the purchase I paid sales tax but the finance dept. never mentioned I would have to pay Cook County too. I realize Cook County is a disaster but if Bill Jacobs would have taken care of my obligation at purchase I wouldn't be in this fix. read more

Worst. Automotive. Experience. Ever. The first time I had contact with Bill Jacobs Mini was after my car was towed in. I had cracked a wheel on a pothole. As I later learned was custom I was never contacted, waited on hold or was transferred many times. They claimed I needed new fronts struts in addition to the wheel. They couldn't find my car when I came to pick it up. Fast forward 1 year later. I brought my car in for it's 36000 service. They couldn't tell me over the phone whether I would have to pay for a loaner car. One person said the service was covered by warranty even after I asked him if he was sure and to double check. Of course when I brought it in they said it would cost 650 dollars. When I picked it up they charged 1000. The clincher was they told me that, after 12000 miles, that I need new front struts to the tune of 1600. Apparently they forgot they had run that scam already. I took it too another repair shop who could find no need to replace the front struts Unbelievable. one star only because yelp won't allow none read more

Update 5/26 - This is an update to a prior 1 star review. The background details - they gave us a deal on a Friday, we put 1k deposit down, and made arrangements to drive the 5 hours to Naperville the following day. They changed the deal when we were an hour out. We turned the deal down and headed back to Michigan. We couldn't believe not one sales manager called us to apologize when our salesperson knew we were coming from so far and were already on our way. On Sunday morning we sent an email to all their sales managers and the business manager. When we didn't receive a response by Monday night, I posted the negative review. Well, last weekend we took the long trip again to buy this car. One of their sales managers, Darren, contacted my wife to try to work out the deal. I'm not sure if he was responding to my email, the the lost sale hitting his desk, or maybe even responding from our prior negative review. He was very apologetic and wanted to work a deal out. At any rate, we worked out what I consider to be a fair deal for the car. Darren was very nice - and hey they are a busy dealership. I understand why it might have taken them some time to follow up on a lost sale. Even though we decided to still deal with them after our initial very bad experience. They were really good in some areas and fell short in others. If this review were for their parts department - I'd give it a 5. Parts was great. We ordered some additional accessories - it was easy pleasant experience and they came in quickly. Not only that - they shipped it to us in Michigan AND called to let us know the tracking number. I'd definitely recommend. In regards to the purchase - We bought a 2013 Mini Cooper Countryman S ALL4. We made arrangements to make the drive again and told them we would be in around 1pm on a Saturday. When we arrived - the car looked great. It was detailed and looked as new as they could make it. The salesperson that we originally dealt with was going to get us through the initial paperwork She was friendly. Clearly eager to put the past behind us. The sales manager who got us back came and greeted us as well. Things seemed to be going well - until we had to wait over 2 hours for the finance guy to do the paperwork. I mean, I would've understood waiting if we hadn't made an appt to come in and buy the car. When I've done that in the past - we were in and out in less than 45. Yes, the Mini dealership is cool and they give you free beverages - but I didn't want to be there all day. Especially when driving 5 hours to get there. We didn't end up leaving until after 6pm central. Got there around 1pm. Ah well. The only other issue we had was what I'll call a "misunderstanding" with what we negotiated for the extended warranty. They worked it out - but we had to do the paperwork twice - and show proof of the warrant that was negotiated in an email. I think part of their problem is that they are a big dealership and need some better processes in place to be more efficient. Like - the day they were initially losing the sale - the should have called. Not 2 business days later. The paperwork should have been ready when we arrived. Their salesperson should be able to walk through all the paperwork - not just a finance manager. Yes, they did try to makeup for our initial issue. They were all very nice when we were there. If it wasn't for the extended warranty issue and the fact we had to be at the dealership for hours when they were expecting us to come in and purchase - I'd have given them 3 stars instead. Would I purchase from again - yes...if the deal was right. read more

He sat with me for a long time making sure I was getting everything I wanted in my new Mini (and showing me every option available as i wavered between red and black and racing striped vs. no racing stripes)! - December 2013 I was in a bit of a pinch...called a few dealerships looking for a specific, hard-to-find trim level for the 2014 Countryman - a few of the others were totally inflexible with pricing telling me they could only do this or that - common sales games as usual. Over the phone, we spoke to Ivan and he was basically the salesman of the year in my book - he avoided the typical salesperson bs and had determined that I knew exactly what I wanted, knew how much i was trying pay per month, what trade in I was bringing, and made it happen where others couldn't (or wouldn't). After contacting Bill Jacobs Mini - my wife and I found the perfect 2014 Countryman that was still available. They were having an event that night and the car hadn't sold yet and was still available - so we made a last-ditch trip over there and somehow managed to get there JUST BEFORE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CLOSE. Their attitude and flexibility given the hour of night was amazing. This ended up being one of the EASIEST and SMOOTHEST sales transactions I've ever had the privilege of participating in - honestly. All the players were top notch, from Dana (sales advisor who stayed past closing with us, test drove with us, showed us how the car worked, and helped us transfer all of our stuff to the new car] to Kathleen - who made the financing part of the transaction incredibly comfortable, straightforward, and easy; and to Ivan who made the decision that we was going to do what he could to make this whole thing happen. Everybody being at their A-game makes all the difference and that's what I found myself dealing with and appreciate it immensely since I'd been to so many other dealerships (Mini and otherwise) and witnessed so much other dysfunction and lack of customer orientation. TL/DR Review of Service Dept. - Nice people, lack attention to detail and follow through in garage though. Sell you on service and parts but never have it in stock or just forget to do it. After problems the first visit I thought that things would be better this visit. Not so much. Both times everyone that worked there was great and helpful so long as I was in the building. Once I left is when the issues happened. - Both times I went in and sold standard tires/parts that they needed to order. The best selling tires? Nope, they were out this most recent visit. - Both times I was offered a rental or loaner car which is nice but shouldn't have been needed. As I live 45 minutes away I refused a rental car this last trip to avoid wasting nearly 2 hours of my day this most recent visit. - Both times for some reason they have replaced the rear wiper blade (thanks!) but then never actually put one back (oops!). My wife luckily noticed the first time while we were on the lot but this time I forgot to look and here we are 2 days later after they returned it and oops it is missing again. I can't prove 100% that it is their fault but after the last visit and suddenly it being gone again I have to think they forgot. - What finished it for me was the lack of communication. I understand people get days off there was still a big lack of communication and outright forgetting about my car. I asked to have something looked at and give the option to skip it if they dont have time and to simply return the car since I need it by a certain time. I was told they had time by someone in service. 5 hours later I called to see when they were returning the car and to see what they found. They never looked at it and had no idea how I was going to get the car, couldn't I just come and get it? Eventually they brought it back and the driver got them a 2nd star due to him realizing my blunder of leaving my garage opener in the loaner - thanks sir! But beyond him saving me I wasn't impressed and will be trying to avoid going back. So that is two strikes and time for me to go elsewhere. read more

I saw the car I wanted on line @ AutoTrader.com and it was at Bill Jacobs Mini. I responded on line and did recieve immediate message and info back from Michael Ruiz answering my questions. I let him know that I wanted to follow through with sale and immediately Dana Halligan contacted me to put details together. She was compentant and told me process (which was acceptable to me); requested $500 deposit which I authorized, later found out they never actually took it until I closed on the car, which I thought was positive. Dana picked me up at the airport and was very friendly and comfortable doing that so I didn't feel like a "burden", etc. Paid for lunch as I was in need of that. I can say nothing of service dept as I picked up used care and left. So far car is as it was represented and is at home in Colorado. read more

I have a 06 Mini Cooper and it's been serviced at Bill Jacobs. Not only do they come and get it for me and bring it back, they take good care of it. Mitch does an outstanding job and should be recognized everyday for his customer service. Yesterday alone he was on the phone with us as we were having an issue with my car, and stayed with us until we came to a solution then called the next day to check in. I don't know of many places or people who would do that. Mitch is the reason why I keep my car and the reason why I decided to get another Mini. Trusted people like him are hard to find. My car was acting up so I brought it in hoping it was going to be a quick fix. Long story short, I ended up with a $4K bill and was completely devastated. Luckily, Mitch was able to correspond with the warranty company from the dealer where I bought the car and got everything paid for. Mitch called me at least everyday to get an update on how my car was doing and it brought down my anxiety tremendously. I got the car back within a week and it runs like new. I assume we are a bit of a dying breed...we want to buy a car from a brick and mortar neighborhood dealership, not buy online. We like the Clubman, so here we come Bill Jacobs Mini. We email for an appointment, don't hear back. Stop in, plenty of sales staff, not many customers, and 2 hours later we leave after finally test driving the Clubman, but not the in stock model we requested to see. It is interesting that peoples view of jacobs MINI differ so much. I think there IS a real issue of "in-warranty" and "out of warranty" As far as selling cars, the sales staff were excellent and very helpful. Similarly, for the first few maintenance cyles, very good.....well run, on time, efficient, good loaner cars, etc. However, as my MINI gets older, the maintenance bills are beginning to skyrocket. As soon as my warranty is done, I don't think I will be gonig back as the costs are way too high for normal operation.....BMW expenses for a modest MINI. read more

Just wanted to say that the sales team at this dealership is amazing. Kyle Kelly was great in showing me the ins and outs of my CPO clubman I was interested in and ended up purchasing. He was charming, funny, easy to look at, and most of all, HONEST. After purchasing my mini of which I affectionately named Margo, I called with questions, talking to Kyle every time. He was never impatient with me and answered my questions to the best of his knowledge. After realizing there were a couple issues with my car, Patrick in service took over and called me with regular updates keeping me in the loop at all times. Even my mechanic, Jake kept me informed.
