First id like to say..Love bills ACE.. Been supporting it over box stores for years. I see them helping out all over town with community stuff. The other night I pull up needing a New door knob lock set. Its 7:20 and the place is pitch black. I stop get out to look at sign and there closed at 7 now. In that 2 min i was in the parking lot 4 more cars pull in and are looking around also. So i pull out head up morello and i see the cars comming out that way also. It was a caravan to HD. All wanting to spend there but forced to big box. disapointed!!! Best Customer Service Ever!!!! I had to use the ladies room right NOW!!! Pull over to first retailer, sorry ACE hardware. Run into the store and find the most deluxe, single stall room all to myself. CLEAN, clean, clean and all to myself. Feeling so guilty and thankful to have such a clean huge bathroom all to myself I figure I have to buy something now. So I figure I can always use some potting soil and I saw big bags on a pallet out in front of the store. So I go to the register and say I'll have one of those big bags of potting soil on your pallet out front. The guy asks which one? I say I don't know whatever you have outside. Another staff member hearing the conversation runs outside gets the information delivers to the cashier and then volunteers to carry the bag out to my car for me. WOW!!! I have not seen customer service like that and such clean bathrooms except for in old time movies!!! The best!!! read more

I am here every other week purchasing bolts or nuts for my motorcycles, tools, or machinery. The people are very helpful and know alot more then the people at lowes or home depot. Pricey for some things but since they have sales on things I use alot I enjoy looking through there paper. read more

Bills is the hidden gem of the east bay, I went in there looking for parts for my 50 year old toilet thinking there was probably no chance they would have a new flapper for it, a very helpful gal asked me if she could help me, I showed her what was left of my antique part she looked at it and said follow me . My review is intended to educate not to reduce business for this particular Bills Ace hardware location. They have great product its variety and quality range provided is spot on and the isles are organized and always stocked. I know going into smaller hardware stores might be off putting to some because they automatically assume it will be pricey. Moreover, I use my coupons that come in the mail and its so worth it. My family and myself have been long term customers to this store We have lived right behind it my whole life. Shoot we even shopped at the building when it was Gregsons Grocery many moons ago.((I remember the tiny shopping carts)) lol. My concern is that everytime I go into Ace now as an adult Im immediately followed. Its rude and its uncomfortable. I feel like i'm being put in a category and suspect of being a thief. I went in today and was finally fed up with it this time I had a full blown anxiety attack and had to park on the side of the road and do breathing exercises after I bought something just because I felt the need to justify that i have money and i wasn't there to swipe anything. before i could drive home. I know shoplifters are a problem for any business. but losing customers due to presumptive stereotyping and uncomfortable customer service is worse. I worked in a grocery store as a assistant manager a while back and my boss said to me be watchful of shoplifters yes, if you catch them with solid evidence then great everything else is covered under insurance! except your reputation. read more

2/24/2011 I went to ace in martinez to get my propane tank filled they had propane on sale but what nigtmare it turned into the kid filling the tanks stripped out the relief valve on my tank then he srewed up another guys tank the manager said they had problems before we brought them in. two in row ya right ! he told us we both needed new tanks what a scam get us down there with the coupon then try to sell us tanks and propane .we both got refunds and left what a poorly managed store . read more

Went to Ace today 2-28-17 at 8:30 am or so to get a piece of glass. I could not believe no one in the entire store including the management was unable to cut glass. This type of service was unheard of at Ace. What happened to your store's service level this was the reason I continued to shop this store this is my second unpleasant experience at this store!!!!!! I came in to this store this past friday, 4/29 and felt that I needed to leave a comment for a specific employee here named John. I always come to the Martinez ACE store before any other hardware store simply because I cannot recieve the same treatment that I do from this store. When I came in once again to ACE, John was there to help me out with filling my propane tanks with a great disposition. He was very kind by asking me how my day was going, then quickly finished the tanks and then cleaned off the very dirty tanks before placing them back into the car for me.
