The best burger in Tulsa and area. I wish it was closer to South Broken Arrow so I could eat there every week.

I've been coming here for 60 years--first as a kid, and now with my grandkids. Don't let the 4-star rating fool you: the burgers and fries are excellent, the place is a dive. It still has the same paint job I remember from childhood, right next to Thelma's Cut-n-Shoot Bar. It's cash-only, and if you don't order by 12:30, they may sell out. The menu is simple: burgers, coneys, chili, fries, tots, onion rings, and good old-fashioned Frito pie. If you're health-conscious, this probably isn't your spot. If you have a pickup truck, bring it and tail gate so you have a place to sit and eat. read more

Food is worth the wait, but you will wait regardless of the time you get there. Everything is made to order and calling in your order is best since there really isn't a place to sit and eat. If like me you have started to not liking most burger spots and pretty much can't stand any of the chains, this may just the fix for you. The food is cooked to order so unless you are one of the first doubt you are getting your food in less than 15 so be prepared, seating is limited so keep that in mind may be a car eating trip, they have a P.A.,s o you can place your order and hang outside until its ready. Now on to the food, burger and fires/onion rings and that's it keepin' it simple as a burger shack. I have to be honest I kind of forgot about Bill's as its only open around lunch time on weekdays then sure enough I was close by and this spot pop and the burger are still epic as ever. I remembered how good an onion burger can be, you have to tell them if you do not want it that way as just beef if you do not like onions. You can scale the size of your burger to your gut's content and I do like the type of bread it use it compresses real nice! I have never gotten anything smaller than the 1/2 pound big mama and I can see how the ratio can be thrown off with the smaller sizes but when you get up to the big red it can contain the meat to condiments to bun ratio very well, I can probably force an okie burger (1lb) but I doubt I will enjoy it as much as will be way too filled, maybe if I skip the fires or onion rings but where is the fun in that. This is one of those burgers that each bite is so amazing you can find yourself eating it way too fast and then you check yourself as to where all that food went so fast. read more

So if you are going to get a burger, get the big momma... And then don't expect to eat dinner later that night!! The burger is friggin fantastic and very juicy. My only complaint would be a less done bun, mine was a bit dried out.. BUT I still ate it and still would! I did get the onion rings and wow, they were my favorite brand served at another location but they get them deep golden brown but not burnt and now I have a suggestion for my other fav burger joint.. So trying to work my way thru Piso's(Facebook page) hamburger list and he rated Bill's #1. Finally got over there last week. I went early, which I am glad I did, because the line that came in after me was non stop. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries to go. This is a small place with little seating. Got back to the office and everything was still nice and warm. Burger was seasoned well and was tasty, with a toasted bun. Overall a really good burger. I have to say though, that wasn't my favorite part of the meal. Those fresh cut fries were so delicious. I couldn't stop eating them. Definitely on top of my list now. read more

I thought the name "Jumbo Burgers" was just to make this place sound appealing, but this place has legit JUMBO burgers (and if you know me, you know I don't play when it comes to food portions). I was honestly surprised (and really happy) when I saw how big the burgers are here. They're just as good as they look, too!! The staff here has burger making down to a science - they manage to put all the condiments on NEATLY, so your burger isn't dripping/sliding around when you're eating (you don't realize how much you'd appreciate this until it actually happens). Onion rings were okay (just typical onion rings out of a bag). Fries were good. They charge for water here, fyi. Also fyi, the only difference between the Big Daddy and Bill's Special is that Bill's special has cheese. Inside only seats 6 people. An absolutely stellar burger joint. Not long on ambience, but it's a burger joint. Very limited seating, but they do have seats out front, weather permitting. If I had to guess, I'd say their flattop was hand forged by God, back in the day. It's got that years over years flavor that you just can't get anywhere else. Anytime I find myself around Utica and I-244, I try to stop in. These are old school diner burgers. Cook thin with a great crust on each patty. The buns steamed just enough to get really soft and soak up the juice. Fresh cut fries cooked the way mom used to. This place shows up on just about any self-respecting burger bucket list, and if you eat there, you'll know why. And you'll have the advantage of being able to cross it off your own burger bucket list. read more

This place was visited by Adam Richman back when he did those insane food challenges and he tapped out to the 4 patty Okie burger. This place been in business since 1960. If you live in Tulsa or nearby and you love cheeseburgers then it is a must stop. Called the most charming one room restaurant in Tulsa. I always get it to go. But the staff has always been friendly. The main road to Bill's is a one way street that feeds on to I-244, so make sure you know the way. It's cash only. It's only open for lunch a few days a week. It's tiny, meaning the place has a max ocupancy of probably less than twenty people. I split a Double Okie with a friend and it was awesome for a greasy spoon, flat top burger. The Double Okie was a 2 lb hamburger. Onions appeared to be cooked into the four patties our burger was made from. The taste was simple, but it's simplicity made it beautiful. I sampled a friend's onion rings and they were good. The breading was crispy, but the onion texture I didn't love. I liked crispy onion ring breading and crispy onion. So less processed. Thank you Bills for being yourself! This is a local gem most people would pass right by based on the condition of the building alone. It's a dump! Not necessarily a bad thing it's faded and cracking paint and dilapidated exterior holds a tiny 7 sear counter and a real tasty burger. Soft, grill toasted bun shredded lettuce onions tomato and pickle with mustard gently supports a delicious and perfectly grilled beef burger patty. They are cooked on a griddle that is probably 60 years old in a little shack on Admiral and Xanthus. The parking lot is a mess and hard to get in and out of. They're only open for lunch on weekdays. They only take cash. Sometimes they get so many orders they run out of meat and shut down early. There are only 5 barstools inside and 2 picnic tables outside. It's better to call ahead because sometimes the wait can be an hour because so many other people are ahead of you. Is all of this worth it? Absolutely! The rainbow-clad exterior building which houses Bill's Jumbo Burgers hinges on nearly being a shack, which is part of its charm. This place has been around forever and I've heard about it for years and finally indulged on one of my cheat days to check it out. The interior is very small, so most people order take away, and you can call ahead, which is also convenient. They are cash only, so keep that in mind when coming. The burger patty is flat and pretty big, served on an oversized bun. I got everything but lettuce and it was a great break from my diet. I'd come here again if my calorie budget allows, and would like to eat there at one of their outdoor tables for a fresh-off-the-grill experience. I added onion rings, which are beer battered and crispy, but soft in the center and perfect. I'd like to try their fries the next time I'm here, as they are fresh cut and cooked to order. Called my order in and ate in the car this time. After waiting in line to pick up my order, it had been sitting. It doesn't work out timing wise, might as wait there and get it right off the grill. I think maybe I am too particular in wanting hot food. The onion rings were awful. Crisp and burned on the outside and mushy in the inside. Hamburger 3+, love the perfectly toasted bun. The whole experience is kind of stressful. We went to Tulsa, just because, and had no real plans, except that I wanted to have burgers at some of the iconic Route 66 kinds of places. Bill's is certainly one of those places. We arrived and squeezed inside. This is literally true because other than the 6 or so stools at the counter, there is room for 3-4 people to stand and wait. Obviously most people call in and carry out. We did not know that, so were told our wait would be 45 minutes. We killed time in the car and checked in about 30 minutes and our order was just ready. At that time we were able to eat at the bar, but you should be prepared to eat in your car or take them home. You might also want to take a lap towel. Ms T ordered the 1/3 lb Big Daddy with just cheese and mustard. I ordered Bill's special. It came with cheese, chopped lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. They were so busy that I hated to ask, so we really never figured out the difference in the two; Big Daddy vs Bill's Special, since Ms T's was supposed to come with L/T/O/P also. I think. The burgers are genuine flattop style, well flattened so that the 1/3 lb patty fits the large diameter bun. It works. They had an excellent grill crust but I wished for more salt grilled in. If I were to return, regardless of the size, I would pass on the vegetables and get my standard cheese, mustard and pickle. The onion, lettuce and tomato get in the way of the burger flavor. Bill's was a place I had never heard of before, in a corner of Tulsa that I'd never been through. It was just through digging around online that I happened upon it. I must say now that I'm glad I did. It's a tiny shop in a very unlikely part of Tulsa (a largely forgotten corner of Admiral overlooking I-244). The parking lot has decayed into near-gravel conditions in parts, and people basically pull their cars in wherever there's a suitable, unobtrusive space. The selection of burgers is really quite interesting; I don't think I've ever been anyplace that listed 1-lb., 1-1/2lb. and 2-lb. burger options. It's mind-boggling to me that anyone would want to eat that much (and I understand that the guy from Man vs. Food has been here). But my, the burgers are great! The buns are grilled to just the right crispness underneath and full of flavor, while the mix of standard ingredients (mustard, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato) is really well balanced. Of the other old-school burger places in town, I'd say only Hank's on east Admiral gives Bill's a run for their money. Nicer still, the fries are tasty and perfectly cooked. Slightly soggy, mind you, but not to the point where they feel limp or oily. Friendly service as well, and you can watch how they put care into how they prepare the burgers. From the reputation the place seems to have, I was surprised to not have to wait for a seat. Most people that came in while I was there had called in orders to go, so I mostly had the counter to myself. The wait time between ordering and receiving my food was probably about 10 minutes, which is more than acceptable for me (especially given how many to-go orders they were preparing when I walked in). All in all, a very good holdover from an earlier era of Tulsa. I'll definitely go back. read more

A Tulsa classic. Nostalgia abounds with this hole in the wall burger joint next to 244. Regulars claim the cook stove top is the original. Bill's delivers the classic Oklahoma style burger with cooked in onions that delivers plenty of flavor. Make plans for carryout because there is almost no room inside. I'll be back. read more

I don't understand the anti-customer bias at this place. Been here a few times now to fully experience the service and food. I can't argue with the quality of what I have eaten here. I especially love the homestyle fries. The burgers are decent for the old fashioned style. The pricing and service tho could stand some drastic improvement. I don't think I've ever been greeted here with anything other than a surly "what do you want"? I'm not expecting bells and whistles but a little pleasant attitude can go a long way. The place is small with indoor and outdoor seating. Do everybody else a favor, and order THEN go wait outside instead of jamming into an already overcrowded space. Pricing is NOT on a par with other decent purveyors of old fashioned burgers and fries, Bill's is more expensive. Their hours are odd as well, went by not long ago to grab a late lunch, it was about 2:10pm, well shy of their posted closing time of 3pm. Walked up to the door and saw their closed sign was up and their door locked. Peeps still in there working or whatever, just not helping customers. All the weird ass religious paraphernalia they have all over is also somewhat off-putting. If you're on that side of town and it's between 11am and 3pm on a weekday you might stand a decent chance of getting some decent grub but then you might be left hanging. read more

I love hole-in-the wall hamburger joints...but let's face it, they are not all great. This one is. I have almost every published hamburger "best of" list programed into my phone, and this one was not on any of the list. Some friends met me here as soon as I got off of a flight at the nearby airport. They had seen it on "Man vs Food". They have hamburgers that range from 1/4 lb to 2 lbs. I had the 3/4 pound burger. Great meat cooked to perfection with small pieces of onion in it. The fries were fresh cut and reminded me a lot of the fries at Five Guys...only probably better. There is very little seating inside and the line was long...but well worth the wait. read more
