Pretty nice ambiance, cordial staff, and phenomenal pizza choices. I'd stay away from the garlic however.

After walking at Lilacia Park, I had a hankering for a sandwich. I decided to explore the local area and saw that Brick's had sandwiches so I went to check it out. They have a pleasant decor and the staff was very friendly. I ordered Ric's Club which was absolutely delicious! The best compliment I can pay a restaurant is to return for another visit which I plan on doing to try their pizza and have a beer on tap. This place just lost 3 stars due to a poorly made sandwich. I ordered the Ric's Club again and it had very little meat and no bacon on it. I'm disappointed as I thought I had found a new sandwich place. read more

We had a large group come here for our friends birthday. They had a guitar player/singer up front and she was great. She even sang happy birthday when our friend walked in. The pizza was pretty good, I would def order again. They have Kimmer's ice cream in the store too which I was pretty pumped about. Also delicious. We got a cheese cake for the birthday boy and they even put candles on it and lite it for us. The cheesecake was great, one of the better ones I have had. I stopped in here since they have gluten free pizza. I ordered the white arugula pizza. Highly disappointed. GF crust was barely cooked and barely any toppings. I felt like I was eating bread with lettuce on top. I waved down my server to ask where the cheese was. He took it back to the kitchen where they dolloped some more cheese. If I wasn't so hangry! All I can say is, WOW. Amazing staff. I came in with my sister an hour before close, feeling guilty. But they were so friendly and provided great service. Had the spinach dip was AMAZING. A little disappointed in my take home pizza kit experience. 20 dollars for 2 pizzas just dough, cheese and sauce, okay fine, even though 4 is 25. I get home, open them up, start to make pizzas with my family and there is definitely not enough cheese. My container was mostly filled but definitely not enough for 2 pizzas. Would probably go elsewhere for a take home kit from now on. Stinks because it's so close and trying to support local. read more

I've been to Bricks Wood Fired Pizza three times in the last nine days. Why hadn't I reviewed it yet? Well, I didn't want you filthy badgers to know about it. I was hoping to keep this gem as my (and the fine residents of Lombard) dirty, little secret... until I actually looked the place up on yelp and saw that this cat's already outta the bag and that yelpers from near and far (Chicago) have already treated themselves to a piece of the Bricks Wood Fired Pie. First off, I just read all the other reviews and who gives a crap if they've had some name change/spelling conflicts? I, personally, don't care if the sign outside says 'Caca Doo Doo' and the uniforms inside say 'STFU and eat it'... if the food's good, I WILL stfu and eat that caca doo doo. Secondly, and most importantly, Bricks might just be my new fave pizza around... and lucky for me, the BF is a Lombardian so getting Bricks delivered to Naperville by a sexy hunk of a man should be no prob for this little lady. I HIGHLY recommend: *The Simply Spinach Pizza- Homemade tomato sauce with fresh baby spinach, a hint of garlic and topped with the finest feta and mozzarella Cheese. For only $10, I don't feel so bad about eating an entire pie myself. *Club Med Veggie- Crisp Romaine Hearts, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Kalamata Olives, Feta Cheese with Our Lemon Vinaigrette It's only $6, it's HUGE, and it comes with chips. Yum! A cool room on a hot day with Euro soccer on the TV. What more could you want? Great pizza, that's what! My daughter and I couldn't decide which kind to go with so we got two goofy ones - bbq chicken and Hawaiian. To be safe, I ordered garlic bread. Way too much food but so fun to try both of these pizzas for the first time. Everything was delicious, crust was superb, the service was perfect and the room immaculate! Things I love about Bricks: 1. Wood fire. I don't even know why I like wood fired pizza so much, but apparently I dig on it in a major way. 2. ULTRA THIN crust. But it's not TOO floppy or messy or soggy. Perfectly crisped and oiled with a chewiness and a crispiness that is PERFECTION. Perfection, I tell you! 3. Build Your Own. How can you not love that? 4. Fresh ingredients. And a ton of them to choose from. 5. Pay at the counter and seat yo' damn self. That means less money for tipping and more money for eating. I built my own pizza (garlic olive oil, goat cheese, bacon, basil, and two kinds of mozza) and my man had the pepperoni. Per ushe. We each got our own (although one COULD serve two people if you're not total pigs like we are). Both pizzas were magical and weren't too expensive. Bricks, Brix... the restaurant itself is unsure of the spelling (Staff T-shirts say "Bricks", the wall says "Brix", etc). Spelling eccentricities aside, it was worth a visit. Brix (my preferred spelling - x's are sexy) offers fast, casual service in a cafe setting. Order from the counter, and then choose your seat (we took the book by the window, better for people-watching). Food came out very quickly (a little too quickly near the end when garlic bread, salad, and pizza were competing for space on our table). First, we select beverages. They have quite the array of bottles, including my beloved Boylan's. I go with Diet Cane Cola this time. A poor choice in the end, but that's entirely my fault. Moving on... We started with the Greek Salad. Completely enormous. This could be a meal for one person, so I'm glad we shared. About this time the garlic bread also emerged from the kitchen. Delicious warm butter-garlic-cheesiness; I likely ate more than my share. For the pizza, we decided to spice it up a bit and get something special you couldn't get just anywhere - the Piluski. I love artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes more than you could imagine, so I was totally sold. The woodfire stove gives the thin crust a crunchy-chewy taste and fresh-baked smell; unique in an area known for its deepdish. Teensy gripe: Not loving how you have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. It's a small, modernly decorated joint. The staff is very friendly. We ordered Bricks Sticks(bread sticks) and Bricks Pizza (Italian Sausage, Red Onions with Asiago, Mozzarella and Provolone Cheese). I love pizza. Pizza in warm and friendly surroundings...even better. This is delicious wood-fired thin crust pizza. The menu lists their signature pizzas, but there's a build-your-own-option so you can get creative or just succumb to your cravings. There are also salads and sandwiches available on the menu. I started off with the Greek Salad. As was mentioned in a prior review, this salad is pretty big--definitely made for 2. I appreciated that they offered to split it for us that way we didn't have to get messy. Very fresh romaine and spinach, feta cheese, red onions, lots of olives (which I love) and a great tangy dressing that's served on the side (which I also love). The Cuz and I ordered 2 different pizzas so we could taste different options. She the garlic oil base, mozz, italian sausage and mushroom. For me, the pesto base, with chicken, mozz and roasted garlic. These may be thin crusts, but the pizza packs a lot of flavor. Fresh ingredients, made very well, served to order. Nice serving sizes--we had many slices to take home. VERY friendly and timely service, nice space. A new fave. read more

Brix is an okay alternative to the typical pizza place; however, it is not to be compared to the wood-burning pizzas that you can get in the city. First of all, why do they find the need to put tomato sauce on every pizza? I had a veggie pizza with goat cheese, and fully expected it to have an olive oil base, but they put tomato sauce on the bottom. My husband had a chicken and prosciutto pizza, and the meat tasted like processed meat instead of fresh. The salad was above average, and the balsamic dressing was tasty, although a little bit too salty. Another downfall - no liquor license and it's not a BYOB. I do enjoy a nice glass of wine with my pizza, so I was disappointed and wished we had ordered it to go instead. I guess it's a nice alternative for a suburban place, but stick to a Spacca Napoli or Trattoria DOC for an authentic wood burning pizza and leave this place for a quick takeout. read more

This is probably an odd rave for a pizza place, but Bricks has the best tuna sandwich ever. In fact, all the sandwiches I've tried have been fantastic. Their salads are great, too. I can't review the pizza, because I've never tried it. I prefer greasy, loaded "plain old" pizza to the gourmet types they serve here. Just my preference, though. Oh gawd Oh gawd. Yum. Since I almost always order the same thing (with the occasional variation--no red pepper or no mozz(to which the reply is usually, okay, we'll put a little extra goat cheese on there. (whaaaa?! Yes!) , it's really tough to gauge the rest of the food...but I have enjoyed the BBQ chicky sammich... YUM. and the Greek salad (delightfully fresh). The portions are gargantuan, and well worth their price. I dare you to eat the whole sammich and the bag of chips in one sitting. (and if you win, you were just really hungry.) The atmosphere is totally cas, and I feel completely comfortable walking in here by myself and sitting down to a quick, but phenom meal. One day I may try the pizza. One day, my friends. Fantastic thin crust pizza - crispy, crunchy and awesome with a great selection of toppings & a tasty, not-too-sweet (a problem in these parts) tomato sauce. My only possible issue with the pizzas themselves is that they are so thin, I don't recommend getting some of the heavier toppings like artichoke hearts or sliced tomatoes as it makes the slice get soggy pretty quick. The salads are nothing to write home about. We dined in and ordered an Italian Antipasto and an Italian Chopped for our group of four. Both salads were comparable to something you'd find in a bag at Jewel for $2.99 a piece plus the Antipasto was supposed to come with olives and red peppers but neither were on our salad. I wouldn't recommend them for delivery. I've used them on two different occasions for delivery with horrible outcomes each time. The first time it took 75 minutes for them to deliver two pizzas from Lombard to Villa Park when they told me it'd be 45-50 minutes. The second time we were ordered one pizza at 6:30 on a Tuesday evening and the delivery didn't arrive until around 7:55. Not a huge deal since I do live pretty close and usually pick up or dine anyway but a tad inconvenient for those times when you don't feel like going out. read more

Finally a good suburban pizzeria! Over the past few years I've been finding myself traveling back into the city specifically to enjoy a nice wood oven/brick oven pizza. I've kind of grown out of the deep dish phase, but not entirely, I promise! But Bricks does the pizza right. They have a very nice menu with pre-selected pizza ingredients, or you can build your own. We had the bruschetta appetizer to start. Now this has become such a big thing in Italian-American restaurants and I can't tell you how many times I've had someone screw up this simple dish. But I was pleasantly surprised with their version. The pane (bread) was perfectly toasted, whereas many places over-toast it, and the tomatoes/basil were very well marinated. If I had to nitpick at this piece, I'd have to defer to the cheese. It looks like they just used a typical parmesan cheese you would find in those green bottles at grocer. It would have been perfect with some hand-grated parmesan or mozzarella. Then we had two pizzas: the pepperoni & banana peppers, and the prosciutto & baby spinach. I could break these down individually but they were both phenomenal. Very fresh, very tasteful, and both brought their own consistency. Absolutely no complaints on the pizza. The prices were very very reasonable. And the service was nice. I have to imagine it's family-owned because they were quite young, but I didn't mind as they were very prompt and professional. I will definitely be returning a few more times this summer to try out the entire menu :) (don't judge me!) read more

I get boundaries must be set, but when you are so close to a boundary that you can throw a stone and hit it, then it defies common sense!! I live in Glen Ellyn, right across the street from College of Dupage. Having said that, I have ordered pizza from Roberto's in Elmhurst and they have delivered to me and are twice the distance, at least, then what Bricks is to me! I'm not sure what I was expecting when I walked in, in terms of service, but I was surprised to find it was more of a serve yourself, cafe- kind of dining. So keep this in mind when going... the staff brings you your pizza/plates/silverware but drinks are on your own. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for quality, home made pizza in the Western Suburbs. I whole heartedly agree with Justine G. in that it's the best brick oven pizza around. Very fresh ingredients and the crust had just the right amount of crunch to it. The staff was very friendly as well! We ordered two different kinds of pizzas. The Marghertia and Bricks Pizza. Both were very good and came out quick and hot. I'm looking forward to going back and trying a different kind of pizza and possibly a salad. read more

I've been hearing about Bricks for about a year from a friend who is crazy about them. Generally in my group of friends, you get to pick where you want to go for your birthday. Well, even tho my friend's birthday was in April, we finally made it to Bricks this past Saturday night. We're a little behind in the get-togethers... They had an extensive menu of 12" pizza selections, or you can choose toppings to make your own. Here's what I'd recommend. If you're with a group of friends, do it tapas-style, where you order a bunch of pizzas and share them as they come out. Because even tho my wife and I shared the two pizzas we ordered, my friend next to me made up his own and it looked awesome. I should've asked him for a slice. Oh well. The folks at the counter were really friendly, the pizzas came out within about 10 minutes of ordering them and our server checked on us no less than three times in the 90 or so minutes we were there. Also? When we arrived, the place was empty, but when we left it was packed. And they were kind of shuffling us out the door to turn our table around. The girl did it in the nicest possible way, but I think there was a group reservation for the table we had and they were coming in shortly. I think that was the only real negative of the evening. They probably could've handled that better since when we arrived we were the only people in the place, they might've said they had a large group coming in and not to sit at that particular table. I dunno. She was so friendly about it that it didn't really rub me the wrong way, but it was a little awkward, I guess. The food was okay, but I didn't think the chicken on our BBQ chicken pizza was very good. It tasted like the pre-packed cubed stuff you get from the coldpack case at the grocery store to put on salads. You know, the rubbery stuff that only vaguely tastes like chicken? I'm not saying that's definitely what they use, but it tasted that way. But the sauce and the cheese more than made up for it. There was smoked gouda on it that gave it a nice smokey flavor. The other pizza we went with was the White Arugula. It was okay, but the main flavor was from the arugula, which was fresh, but they put pepper on it, which seemed out of place since arugula is peppery as it is. It could've used a sharper cheese than mozzarella, and they kind of skimped on the proscuitto. I wouldn't order this one again. Actually, I probably wouldn't return unless a friend picked it again. It was okay, but wood-fired pizzas aren't my thing to begin with. I don't like the burned-crust taste that kind of goes hand-in-hand with the concept. Bricks hasn't really found the balance of well-cooked but not blackened, and I know most places that do wood-fired pizza have similar issues. I'm sure it's an acquired taste, but not one that I particularly enjoy. The food was just okay, so I would give them four stars on that. The service was super-friendly and efficient, so I'd give that star back to them on that. But then there was the whole issue with the table at the end, so I'm knocking them back to four. read more

I really wish I could rate this higher, being in my hometown, but have to be honest, I was not overly thrilled about the pizza. I've had the spinach, and the Brix pizza. The veggies are fresh, but it lacked spices, that I like on my pizza. The salad dressings are homemade and really tasty. I found myself dipping the pizza crust into the basalmic dressing, I had leftover from my salad. Next time, I intend to try the sandwiches, and of course a salad on the side. Lombard is not lacking for options when it comes to pizza, but it's nice to have a genuinely unique option in the area. Brix is operated out of a small store front on St. Charles road and has a beautiful wood burning oven right behind the counter. The restaurant has only been open a few months (Spring 2006) and the owners/staff still seem to be adjusting to the business. Having said that, on the two occassions that I've ordered from Brix I have been pleasently surprised by the freshness of the ingredients and the great flavor from the wood burning oven. I believe Brix serves sanwiches and salads as well, but I have not tried those items. read more

Oh, Bricks. Where else can you get such marvelous wood-fired pizza around here? Nowhere, that's where. The thing that's especially great is that while there are several pizzas on the menu with gourmet toppings, you can also get simpler pizzas for the less adventurous eaters, shall we say? In fact, I was introduced to this place by my uncle, who lives in the area. He knows what he likes, and he likes to keep it simple. But he told me he loves this place because they make a great pizza -- and he can take people there who like to eat "weird" stuff -- like me and his nephew. Everyone's happy. They have a few decent bottled beers available, too, as well as the usual soft drinks. I still have yet to try their sandwiches, but I'm sure I will at some point. Well, maybe -- if I can get away from having to try a different pizza. I still have delightful memories of the one involving barbecue chicken, gouda, and red onions (sorry, don't remember what they call it). Tried Brixx one cold afternoon and we were very happy with the pizza. We ordered the Brixx sticks as an appetizer in addition to a pepperoni, ham and mushroom pizza. The Brixx Sticks came out right away. The breadsticks were piping hot and delicious. They were served with a side of tomato sauce which would have been better if served warm. The pizza came out very fast and the crust was thin and yet a little chewy. Very pleased with our decision to try Brixx. read more

OMG! I don't typically write in internet speak, but this place has me about to use all kinds of acronyms. To put it simply, this is one of the best pizza joints that I have ever been to. It could easily hold a candle to what I was served in Rome and I'm very picky about my culturally accurate foods. Rachel J. and a bunch of her awesome girlie friends and I met here for our very own Girls Night Out. I arrived uber early and ordered a Pib Xtra to sip at the outdoor tables. They were super nice about just giving me a soda and didn't give the stink eye for not ordering food. My girl and her crew showed up about fifteen minutes later and we pushed a couple tables together. The people there offered us a better alternative. They cleaned off a round table and sat us right away. Then we got to ordering. I went for a build your own pizza with roasted garlic olive oil, mozzarella di bufala, feta, balsamic tomatoes and fresh basil. It was pretty close to my go-to pizza at Punch in Minneapolis. The guy even let me know that I could continue to get refills on my soda. I figured as much, but it was just nice to have him approve of my cheapness. Anyway, the people working there were so nice and helpful. I will definitely be coming back after my Yelp's Biggest Loser attempt. I totally devoured an entire pizza. Alright lemme preface this review with the fact that it's the Sunday after the 4th of July and all I have to say to my poor body is: Sorry for party rockin'. That being said, I literally haven't eaten all day today because I was busy slamming water and dying on the couch. When I finally got the motivation to get up and get food I was all ready to go get a wonderful beef & sausage combo but my friend mentioned she was ordering pizza and I was sold! Now time to hunt where to get pizza. I stumbled upon the infamous Candice G.'s review of Brick's and I already fell in love with this place. I immediately pulled up their menu and was overwhelmed with delicious wood fired pizzas. I finally agreed on the Margherita and added some bacon on that shiz. Then I saw the most amazing thing ever: chocolate nutella panina. Whaaat! Unfortunately they've stopped making them. My next option was the kitchen sink cookie. It was fabulous! The lady takin' my order was super nice and the delivery took way less time than I thought it would. When he got here he explained they only had one kitchen sink cookie (I ordered one for me an extra one for my lil bro) so instead they gave me 1 kitchen sink cookie, 1 M&M cookie, and 1 chocolate chip cookie. When I gave the other 2 to my bro he said the only thing you could say: "Thank you sweet baby Jesus!" Everything I just ate was amazing and finally helped me come back to life a little today. Brick's has become my husband and I's favorite local pizza joint. We don't order in very much (we either cook at home or eat at a restaurant), but when we do it will 9 times out of 10 be from Brick's. Not only do they have a great selection of delicious pizza, but they also have wonderful salads and sandwiches (made from Boar's Head deli meat). Our favorite order is the make your own pizza with garlic oil (instead of red sauce), proscuitto, hot italian sausage, goat cheese, and fresh mozzarella cheese - with an order of either Brick's sticks (breadsticks) or bruschetta. They do have a small dining area so if you are looking to eat at the restaurant, there are usually a few tables open, with one very large table that can fit about 10-12 people. They also serve beer and wine, though we have taken to going to the Vino Cellar across the street for a drink and take the Brick's pizza with us (the Vino Cellar owners don't mind, in fact they have a menu for you to peruse at the bar!) read more

I am shocked that this place has so many stars. I definitely didn't have the same experience as everyone else. My husband and I had the BBQ chicken pizza and the Bricks pizza. Neither were very flavorful, the BBQ sauce on the BBQ chicken pizza was totally bland, and both were very forgettable. We also had a kitchen sink cookie which also was nothing special. As far as service, when we went in on a Saturday afternoon there were about 3 high school students working who seemed like they could careless about being at work. This was some super excellent thin crusted wood fired pizza. My favorite kind. The dough was flavorful and the perfect texture - the sauce tasted great. These are two things I feel most Chicago pizza joints can never get right- either tasteless sauce or doughy yuck dough. Friendly service, really nice looking; clean and open. Not many tables, but that's okay; they're starting out modest. Hopefully they'll stay around, because I will definitely frequent this place. read more

Had a sausage pizza and salad. Portions were good and it was priced right. Casual atmosphere with a lot of families eating there. Street parking was easy to find in the area. I would recommend this place as a good alternative to your typical chain pizza joint. read more
