Two annual pass holders brought 2 grands to see Lumineer. Two adults, two children. Staying two nights on property. One of the children orders from the adult menu, as did one of the adults. The six year old got the kids chicken tenders, and one of the adults ordered the kids grilled cheese because she wasn't really hungry. Two dinners from the regular menu, two from the kids menu. After showing up at the table with 4 waters and immediately wanting to take our orders, the server charges us a $5.00 up charge because the grilled cheese was for an adult, but ordered off the kids menu! Again, 2 regular menu dinners and 2 kids menu dinners were ordered - but because the grilled cheese was being served to an adult, he charged us an extra $5. WTH! We stayed 2 nights for Lumineer about a month ago without the grands and had a subpar meal at the Stable. Her filet was ordered medium and came out partially burned. Inedible burned. She's not a big eater and didn't say anything. When I went to finish her steak I was shocked. That steak never should have left the kitchen. Reservations seem essential when dining at the Biltmore. We were touring the house and didn't have a solid lunch plan, so we ended up stopping here for a late meal. We arrived about 10 minutes early, and the host told us there was only one busser and that she would text us in about 10 minutes. 20 minutes passed and we still hadn't heard anything. Apparently, she had already taken us off the list and seated us, but I never received a notification. We almost lost our table had we not checked back, which was incredibly frustrating. Once seated, I ordered the Roasted Tomato and Red Pepper Bisque, which came out quickly. For my entrée, I had the Vegetable Risotto with added grilled shrimp. It felt overpriced for what it was. The risotto itself was mushy, and while the overall flavor was okay, the pesto overpowered the rest of the dish. Service after the soup was slow and not very attentive. That said, the setting is undeniably unique. Dining in what was once the estate's horse stable, with the former stalls converted into cozy booths, gives the restaurant a lot of historic charm. read more

Had a solo reservation on a Sunday night during Luminere. Food: they didn't have their regular menu. It was a special, shortened menu bc of Luminere. 1.) Grilled Peach and Burrata- very good. It also included cherry tomatoes, and a thin crispy salty bread that complimented the dish. 2.) Lamb Burger - I asked for no bread, but wanted everything else on it. Either my waiter or the kitchen was confused, because they left most of the good stuff that was supposed to come it got off my breadless burger... the pickled onions, the aioli. And it was served up weird l, with my burger in a bowel. The burger was well done... not recommended. 3.) I had a margarita as my cocktail. They out a sugar Tim instead of asking me (yuck!). It was undrinkable, and $18. 4.) dessert- smores cake. Two bites... unimpressed. The gram cracker bottom was more of a cake than a crust. The cookie was weirdly soft and did not taste like graham cracker. The marshmallow whipped topping had no taste. A $14 disappointment. 5.) coffee... it taste like it sat on a burner for 5 hours at the gas station. Thick, and burnt flavor. I'm surprised that the Biltmore, known for farm to table, would have a better end product when it comes to food. I'm genuinely surprised. Service: my waiter and the manager were nice. Location: easy, near the house. I love the Biltmore. But I'm very sad that I spent nearly $100 as one person with one alcoholic drink... and the food was not up to par with what one should expect for the Biltmore. Stable Cafe is our second favorite spot to eat on Biltmore property (we are annual pass holders, and our favorite place is Cedric's Tavern). The location is charming adjacent to the Biltmore House. Brunch and lunch are available, and you don't have to be visiting the house to enjoy this restaurant. Stable Cafe is appropriately named as the dining room is in what was once the stables for the Vanderbilt family. There are stores, a bakery, a counter service restaurant, and an ice cream shop near the restaurant as well. If you don't want an expensive dessert, have a meal at the Stable Cafe then go out into the courtyard for ice cream. Service at Stable Cafe is great. Both the hostess and server were pleasant, helpful and friendly. Reservations are recommended, but we were able to walk right in for lunch during the week. Since it was just the two of us and it had been a long time being at the Stable Cafe, we went for the Appalachian Sampler and sweet tea. Everything on the platter was delicious. It was plenty of food for two people...and it left us room for ice cream on our way out! It maintains some of the buzz and busy-ness of the rest of the Biltmore, but especially if you get a cool stable booth, you're transformed into your own private world. Donna was a great waitress. She was attentive and particularly helpful once she found out we were beyond hangry, including some little people. My cobb salad was excellent - one of the best I can remember in a long time. The burger was also perfect. There's a solid kids menu. The Biltmore punch was perfect for the occasion. I definitely recommend getting reservations on Opentable, even if you plan to waltz in soon. I had never been to the Biltmore Stable Cafe until our most recent trip to the Biltmore Estate to celebrate my wife's birthday. We made sure to book a table when we purchased our tickets a few months beforehand, so we could have the full experience this time. Overall, I enjoyed dining in the stables, which was pretty cool, and the Banana Pudding Crème Brûlée was gluten free for my wife to enjoy on her birthday. At Biltmore Stable Cafe, you have to reserve at least a couple of weeks in advance, if not a month, if you're planning on visiting the Biltmore Estate and want to enjoy lunch there. I have never visited this place and not have every table occupied with at least a 45-minute to two-hour wait for walk-ins. So make sure you do your due diligence and reserve a table if you want to dine. The smash burger with double patties and bacon was solid and satisfying as I had built an appetite from making the rounds through the Biltmore Mansion. The Biltmore Bramble was decent and worked with what I ordered, but I felt it was a tad pricey for what I was enjoying and the presentation. The Banana Pudding Crème Brûlée was not overly sweet and wonderfully creamy, with the banana complimenting the caramelized sugar top and filling well. The food was great, the service was solid, the pricing was a little higher being that we were on the Biltmore Estate, and the acoustics are loud since no matter what time you come, there's always going to be a packed house. read more

We visited the Biltmore for my mom's birthday and made a lunch reservation here because it seemed to have a nice selection of gluten-free dishes (she's allergic). We were a party of 8 and ended up being seated at separate tables near each other, which was a little frustrating as we could not converse across the aisle. Most of us ordered salads, and it took 45 minutes to get our food. I ordered the heirloom tomato and burrata, and it was absolutely awful. The tomato (and it WAS a SINGLE tomato) was overripe and mealy in texture. It didn't even look sliced-- it looked like someone had dropped it or pulled it apart with their fingers and plopped it on a plate. Very unappetizing. Also, the pita served with it was cold and limp-- it really should be served with crostini or something sturdy enough to actually hold the burrata and ferry it to your pie-hole. ;( One person in our party had the tortellini and said it was nearly inedible. The meatloaf review wasn't much better. A couple in our party ordered the Cobb salad and enjoyed it; however, I tried a bite of it and couldn't reconcile barbecue dressing on a Cobb salad. I've long since given up on finding one with real Cobb dressing, but a smoky dressing coupled with bacon just overpowered it-- the whole point of a salad is that it's meant to be light. The crowning achievement of the meal was my 8 year old's chicken tenders. They were fresh, crispy, and surprisingly good. Overall, exceedingly high prices for very subpar food. We intended to get dessert since we were celebrating a birthday, but were afraid to chance it given the time it took to get our entrees. read more

After our tour of the fabulous Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, we took a few steps to the nearby Biltmore Stable Cafe for lunch. We are so glad we did! It was excellent in every way. Our waitress was so friendly and had such a delightful personality. The ambience was great. The meals were SO good too! I ordered the SMOKED PORK BARBEQUE sandwich. It was Appalachian style. The pulled pork had been house-smoked for 16 hours. It had Peach Bourbon BBQ sauce. The sandwich was accompanied by Classic Coleslaw and delicious seasoned french fries. I loved it! My husband enjoyed the CHOPPED BRISKET SANDWICH. It was made with House-Smoked Biltmore Estate-raised Brisket. To be dining inside the former hay loft of the Vanderbilt's horse stables was pretty cool, with nice views out the windows. My wife had a tasty chicken salad sandwich, and I tried the Apple Butter Bacon Cheeseburger. I love Apple butter, and I love bacon cheeseburgers, but I'd never tried them together, so I gave it a shot. The blending of the flavors was wonderful! We had a reservation where I had requested a booth, so when we arrived it was disappointing that we had to wait about 10 minutes for a booth to be available. Even though we were in a booth, the noise level was very, very loud. My guest, who is hard of hearing, had a very difficult time hearing the person on her cell phone. The food however, was surprisingly good. We had the meatloaf and the baked beans were delicious. Our server was harried, but delightful. Very responsive and very good. The limited meatless menu forced my wife to get the sweet potato soup for her entree, a choice she wouldn't typically make (it was tasty though, and I didn't mind "helping" her with some of it). I enjoyed the fries and pickle served with my portobello sandwich, but in terms of a "veggie burger," Asheville has better options. We got to the Biltmore around 12 pm and wanted to grab a bite before exploring the grounds and the house tour. The stable area is hectic because of the holidays. They set up heating lamps and food stands for the holiday celebration. We wanted to sit inside and decided on the Stable Cafe. We walked in and it was very busy. We were greeted and handed menus to review as we waited to be seated. It took less than five minutes and we were seated. The venue is large, with an upstairs as well. The building itself is a beautiful old stable with high ceilings and arched doors. The large space meant they could accommodate the holiday crowd easily. We placed our order bbq pork sandwich and portobello sandwich. Mom enjoyed the bbq pork, it had a slight hint of smoke flavor. My portobello sandwich was tasty, with small slices of mushroom as opposed to a large cap. The goat cheese added good flavor. Service was friendly and attentive. They know how to handle large capacities. The only downside is the menu of options. I wished they had more vegetarian friendly options. read more

For entrees we had the: Chicken salad on croissant with chips: 9/10 Very picky about chicken salad but this had cranberries, poppy seeds, grapes, and all the yumminess! Was perfect after walking around on a hot day! BBQ Pulled Pork with apple slaw and fries: 7.5/10 The blueberry BBQ sauce was an interesting flavor combo. One that we didn't prefer, but our amazing waitress was kind enough to track down some sweet baby rays for us and personally we liked that much better. Smash burger with fries: 8/10 a perfect burger! Had two patties, so we weren't able to finish it, but above average for a burger! Half roasted chicken with brussels and potatoes: 9/10. The chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly! So tender and yummy. The brussel sprouts were some of the best we've had. They were flavorful throughout and we loved the crispy outside. It also came with an interesting Asian inspired honey mustard which we quite enjoyed!
