Liked the automated ordering system, but my card wouldn't swipe so I had to pay the old fashioned way. What was really impressive was the bathroom, the weird square toilet, and especially the circular mirror with the blue light that were reflected as circles around each iris of my eyes. I wish they looked like that all the time, but the effect ends after leaving the bathroom. This is disappointing. The food? I originally selected the extra hot version of the Nashville chicken sandwich. The machine didn't ask, "are you sure about that?" The human I interacted with while paying with cash mentioned the ghost peppers and doubted my capacity to handle the heat. He said I would feel the burn in my entire face and that he would almost certainly have to give me a glass of milk even after I explained years of eating extra hot chile in New Mexico. I thought about that time in the 90's when myself and a friend decided to try the 911 wings at restaurant near ASU in Tempe called Cluck U. If you could finish the wings, they'd put your picture on the wall and give you $100 or something. On that occasion, we sampled a tiny dab of sauce from the wings on the tips of our fingers and the wings went in the trash, and our faces burned for the rest of the night. That was the only instance in my life when I was unable to eat something because it was too spicy. The Nashville experience was nothing like that. It is the kind of spicy that takes a moment for your mouth to register. Might have confused it with another sandwich, but thought it was supposed to have coleslaw on it. It just came with a couple of pickles, but it was decent especially after I put some of my side salad on top. If I go back to Birdcall, I will definitely trust my ability to handle the extra spicy version. Service was super good, the guy that helped me I am sure had the best of intentions in steering me away from the other sandwich. Where this place lost stars for me was the price. The sandwich was about the same size as one from the value menu at Wendy's or McDonalds. I paid $2.00 extra to have a side salad instead of fries as part of my combo and another $2.00 to upgrade my drink to a Birdcall IPA. So, after I told the cashier to keep the change that was a $20 fast food meal. For another $2.00, I could have chosen the gluten free bun. While I am not on a strict diet, I am avoiding fried food and bread. I thought I was going to feel bloated and bad about myself after eating this meal but it wasn't enough food for that. Neither here or there, but I would have liked to have a nice coleslaw as a side option read more

I love everything about this place! I first experienced it at the new Whole Foods downtown and this location is equally great. You swipe your credit card to start and you go through the menu and can modify everything on your own. My biggest piece of advice is EAT IN! Even driving 10 minutes I feel like my fries and sandwich just aren't the same crispiness as eating it fresh in store. They differentiate themselves from chick fil a by offering a deluxe sandwich with bacon, pepper jack, ranch sauce, lettuce, etc andddd they're open on Sunday! Total game changer. Our son lives near the location on Hampden. While watching our granddaughters over the past year + we have gone to Birdcall to order dinner through the drive through. EVERY time we have been there we order an extra order of fries and EVERY time we got home there were no fries. Once you get home and everybody is ready to eat you are not going back for an order of fries. These were all paid for as well. Quite frustrating to say the least. We tried this place not so long ago and it was a hit with the whole family. Tonight we ordered again in the drive through and had to leave due to an issue with my husband needing the car urgently. I know, who does that right?! Well we had no choice. We drove away and I felt awful until I called and talked to the manager and tried to pay for the meal I had abandoned. Very simply, I love this place. I'd eat there every day if I could, but that would be odd. It's just not just the quality of the food, but the variety, the service and the generous promotions. This is a local company that gives back to the community in ways others do not. I was blown away by how much birdcall did to make sure first responders were fed, and I've had the good pleasure to talk to managers about other things on the horizon. The Evans team (conveniently named) Josh, Jess and Jake are a dynamic, friendly and professional trio - any restaurant would be lucky to have. They have such good chicken sandwiches! The Nashville hot has a good kick to it. But I usually just go with the basic chicken sandwich. The Oreo shake is pretty good as well. I was skeptical of their relatively high prices at first, but you get what you pay for! Ordered chicken strips, fries, and an Oreo shake. The strips and shake were excellent, fries were about what you'd expect from any fast food place. But that chicken! Been to Birdcall twice. Had the 'pretend' chicken sandwich first - amazing! I'm squeamish to try fake meat, but it was sooo good, and the special toppings are great. Big too. The second time did the Asian salad with 'pretend' chicken added; lasted for three meals but I prefer the sandwich. Not super cheap for a quickie lunch, but filling. I've been eating at birdcall since it opened downtown in the Whole Foods. The overall experience has always been good for me, regardless of location, but since I have moved, this DU location is more convenient. The food is delicious and they always get my order right (I customize every time). It's better than Chick-Fil-A! I think the wait time is reasonable - I usually receive my order more quickly than expected (I place my to-go order inside at the kiosk and wait). The only time I've had to wait longer than 12 minutes was when I came during a Friday night dinner rush, so it was expected. I love this location, mainly because of the staff. Food is good but customer service needs some work. Ordered online, Tuesday afternoon around 4pm. Shouldn't be a busy time and wasn't based on the fact there was almost no one else around. Got the text the food was ready and pulled into curbside and texted my parking position. After 10 mins of waiting and another attempt to text the automated system , called the restaurant and told them I was still waiting to which they said my food was now cold and they needed to make it again. So I waited yet another 10 minutes before I got my food, and guess what my sandwich was still cold. So now I've been here 25 going on 30 mins and have to go back inside to get an actually warm sandwich since that's what I was told. Employees start bickering over who's fault it is, all I want is my food and quickly. There's 8 employees behind the counter, 6 of which are just staring at me. There's no one else in the store at this point, you'd think I'd get some service. No offer to void the purchase, no offer for a coupon or a free drink while I waited, or anything. You'd think that since they just threw away my first meal, now they are throwing away a second sandwich that's again cold that it'd be easier to just comp the meal, guess not. Can't say it's likely I'll be coming back here with these employees who don't seem to value my time. read more
