I really enjoyed my sea bass. Perfectly cooked. Garlic mashed potatoes were delish & the asparagus was cooked perfect. I can't believe I did not take photos. I was hungry! Had the butter cake w/vanilla ice cream & fresh berries for dessert and that was also very tasty. I'm sure it did not have any calories in it. lol. Our server was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what we would like. You know he is a professional and any high end restaurant would love to have him! Very knowledgeable on wine as well. The Rombauer Zin was perfect for me. The ambience is nice. We came here to celebrate my father in law's birthday. The inside is well decorated, dimly lit, and has an interesting layout. We were seated on the side by the from entrance but this place is quite large and has a larger seating area for big parties. The server was very nice and helped explain everything well. The food was pretty good. I enjoyed the Philly cheese sliders and was very content with my salmon. The ancient grains may not be for everyone but they allow substitutes if you are not keen on them. Every item that we ordered was absolutely delicious with so much flavor in every bite. Our server was amazing! She was so sweet and made all three of us feel so special as we were celebrating our birthdays. The only tip I have is that the entrance is NOT on the main road/highway. The door on the main road is actually the back door so you'll want to take the side street right before the restaurant and park in the "back" since that will take you to the entrance. Will I be back? We stopped in for only a drink. The place is nice and comfortable. Bathrooms are clean. So, we sat at the bar and for almost 20 minutes it was as if we were invisible. I finally took the chance to ask a bartender "how do we order a drink her"? She was polite and said she would take care of us immediately.... She disappeared and about 5 minutes later, she came and got our drinks. Before she walked away, I asked her for a second beer because it was so hard to get the first one. She said "yeah sure" but then walked away and I never got it. Overall it was "okay". There was one thing that really bothered me..... As I sat at the bar I noticed several people drinking bottles of Modelo beer as was I. I had seen on the meñu that Modelo was $5.00/ bottle. When I received my tab, I noticed I was charged $6.00/bottle. I brought it to the server's attention and she told me that hey had recently changed their prices then hesitantly asked me if I wanted her to adjust my tab.... I told her I did but it seems the adjustment should have been made without asking me. They made the adjustment but I walked away thinking about all the other people that were not aware they were paying $1.00 too much on each bottle of Modelo not to mention any other items that show a lower price on the meñu. read more

My best friend made reservations here for two birthday celebrations earlier this month. The six of us were impressed with the sophisticated, upscale décor and ambiance. It was also casual, so no worries about being underdressed. There was a massive painting of a beautiful horse that said, "Relax, we aren't pretentious" lol. Our booth felt private and cozy. The place smelled inviting - like burning candles and seared beef. My friend and I ordered the Ginger Cucumber Cooler - ginger beer, cucumber, lime, and mint. It was perfect and refreshing. My Snake River Wagyu Eye of Ribeye was slightly dry at the ends, but the center was tender. I should have asked if the steak was correct because it looked, felt, and tasted like Filet Mignon. At first, our server in training accidentally gave me my husband's Prime Ribeye steak, which looked amazing. He gave me a few juicy bites. It was good but wasn't quite five stars. (I prefer my brother-in-law's grilled ribeye and a popular steakhouse in San Francisco). The scent of burning candles was the burning rosemary that they served on top of our steaks. It was a creative touch but seemed more for show than flavor. My friend and I loved the side of maple bourbon sweet potato mash. My son loved his Prime Rib French Dip sandwich with truffle fries. My son's girlfriend said her cheeseburger was good but preferred the French Dip. We shared the decadent Warm Butter Cake for dessert, which went perfectly with the whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, caramel, and fresh berries. The Brownie Sundae was chocolatey and rich, surrounded by nuts, and topped with ice cream. We didn't leave a crumb behind. Our server, Mel, was friendly and professional. I appreciated the star-shaped confetti she gave us to sprinkle around for our birthday. She was also the one who recommended our perfect desserts. To start the waitress and hostess were great. Unfortunately we made reservations for their more private room. We were told our party was able to place up decorations. upon our arrival on time we were told the room was still occupied. After waiting for over 20 minutes past our reservation time we were seated in an open location with tables placed together due to the room still being occupied. After our dinner I wanted to speak with the manager and express how disappointed I was with what was explained over the phone and what had transpired after we had arrived. The manager, a bald male, was extremely unprofessional and decided to argue every point I was trying to make. He at one point insinuated he could not do anything about our bill though I had never asked for a discount. He further stated the 'private' room was first come first serve, No decorations were allowed to be placed per house policy, The party would have never been sat if we weren't all at the restaurant. We visited in the evening for my husband's birthday. We had reservations for 5 pm for four people, and listed in the reservation that we were celebrating his birthday. We were seated promptly upon arrival, ambiance was very nice and cozy. The waiter was attentive and helpful. The food was really good, not the best I've had in my life but pretty good for Oakdale. Overall experience was nice, there was just a minor thing that was kind of weird. We also mentioned to the waiter that we were celebrating my husband's birthday. He said "oh I'll take care of you!" After dinner, he told us that dessert would be coming out. We didn't order dessert so we figured it was a little complimentary birthday treat. He brought out the house made butter cake (the most delicious cake I've ever had!) When the bill came however, we were charged for the cake ($15 I think). I wasn't mad or even asked about it, because the cake was so good, however I did think it was a little odd to be charged for something we didn't order in the first place. My Girlfriend and I tried this place out on Valentine's Day, 2/14/25, and will never go back after the way we were treated. We love trying out new places so we booked a reservation about 2 months in advance to secure a table in Bistro 120. We are from San Jose, CA so it was about a 2 hour drive to the restaurant. Everything was okay until the last few minutes of our evening. Food was decent and ambiance was good. After we were done eating our appetizers, main courses, and dessert my girlfriend and I had about 2 and a half glasses of wine left in our bottle we ordered. We were approached by our server when he asks us if "we can finish our wine in the waiting area because someone else wanted our table" and proceeded to offer us a $30 gift card for us to get up, walk to the front of the restaurant with our wine glasses in our hands, and finish them in the waiting area with the people who were waiting for their tables.... My girlfriend and I were confused and didn't know what to say or think besides "did he really just ask us to leave our table while we were still finishing our meal." (there was an empty table exactly like the one we were sitting at right next to us). In my entire life, I have never heard of any fast food, chain restaurant, or any dining experience where they have been asked to leave their table. After spending $200 dollars at their restaurant for us two, we ended up having to get up and leave because of how uncomfortable we felt. Even after speaking with a manger and our server, we weren't offered any compensation for such a shitty dinning experience. I understand that mistakes happen but this was inexcusable. Snazzy upscale interior with a modern menu and sparkling service! The Grilled Steak Salad featured steak that was absolutely perfect, just buttery soft. My wife and I celebrate Valentine's Day the day after to avoid the crowds. Called ahead 2 days prior to see if I could drop off some flowers to surprise my wife. The hostess said sure they would put them in their walk in and I could drop them off anytime. Bistro 120 does many things well and is perfect for when you are willing to splurge on good food. The bar, menu, and execution of the food are all fantastic. My only complaint is that this restaurant is in a weird in-between of casual and fine dining. The prices are way too high for a casual dining experience, but the atmosphere is not suitable for fine dining. Although it looks clean and new, it feels cheap and generic. I wouldn't be back for a special night out, but I will probably be back the next time in Oakdale. read more
