French Onion Soup

I just happened to pop in for lunch on Presidents' Day. The restaurant was empty but it was early. The bartender who was also our waiter seated us and immediately asked if we would like a drink. Through out our entire meal he was attentive even as the restaurant began to get busier. We ordered an appetizer of baked clams and French onion soup Both came out in a reasonable amount of time and were delicious. Our lunch mains consisted of a very well maintained skirt steak sandwich, which came with really good French fries and a Caesar salad which also was very tasty. The restaurant ambience is very nice even romantic so all in all this is a nice spot for a lunch. I will be back to try dinner soon

Cioppino gave me severe food poisoning!

We came to Bistro 44 at the end of 2023 to celebrate a family member graduating from the police academy. I ordered the Cioppino. As we were on our way home from the restaurant I started to feel very ill. As soon as I got home I got sick in the bathroom and then it went on for the rest of the night getting worse and worse. I had SEVERE food poisoning. I will never go to this restaurant again and I have been warning friends and family members as well. Please be careful!

Went for dinner with my husbands and friends, Northport is so cute, location is nice by the water and dock. We went on a Saturday night, restaurant was busy because of it but service was still great. We had Thai calamari and mozzarella cheese for starters. Both delicious, Thai calamari had a spicy sauce with pineapples and plantains that was very good. I had the sesame tuna, my husband had the pork chops, friends had the halibut and skirt steak. All delicious I will get the steak next time! The area was dog friendly (not restaurant) which is nice, had I known I would've brought our doggy know for next time.

Been coming here for over 10yrs, never a bad meal. Great versatile menu with lots of options and always fresh. The staff is pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Great ambiance and even better during the Summer when the courtyard opens up.

What a great night out dining, everything tonight was right on point. Food and service was impeccable. Made reservations a few weeks ago for a party of 6 and got the best table in the house, private table in the front window.... When they're busy it could feel crowded and very noisy in other parts of the restaurant. Everything is made fresh and tastes incredible, served hot and very flavorful. Nice wine list and full bar. Very accommodating for those with food allergies and I definitely recommend calling for a reservation at least 2 weeks out... Not to forget a Big Shout Out to Our Fantastic, Amazing, Wonderful Waitress Gina.... One of the best!

First time eating here. Food was flavorless. The only seasoning I tasted was salt. Would not recommend

Ask the Community - Bistro 44

Hi, Is the outdoor heated patio open for lunch and can I bring a small 15lb Maltipoo in a dog stroller? Thanks

They outdoor patio has those UV heater overhead that you can ask your server to turn on when you dine! Another couple did have their dog when dining too.

Can I see the yankee game here?

I truly hope so but I would call to double check and see where you will be seated .

This includes the olive oil cake, bbq pulled pork nachos, crispy Brussel sprouts, smash burger (although not consistent in size), and chicken picante. The restaurant is relatively new (just reached third year anniversary), so perhaps the kitchen needed more time to prepare dishes more consistently. For the most part the food now matches the social media hype. TIP: Others have recently noted slow service, incorrect orders. I have been visiting at the start of dinner service, and have not encountered this, so some of these issues may potentially be avoided by arriving before inexperienced service staff are overwhelmed. Most people will be seated on second floor which requires walking up a staircase. If special accommodation is needed I suggest informing restaurant in advance. There is some seating downstairs, but depending of time and day this area (bar) can get uncomfortably loud.

The view from the patio was lovely, and the food was decent, but it is on the pricier side. I do wish the portion size for the appetizers we got was larger, but at least the complimentary bread is so nice and warm and you can ask for more. We ordered the Hearts of Palm Salad and Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail as appetizers and both were delicious. I also got the Saru sushi roll which was okay; I liked that it came with seaweed salad which was a nice surprise, but the roll was cut into huge pieces and had too much rice. I will note there's valet parking available and there's a steep descent. It's on a decently busy road so it can be a bit tough to turn out of the restaurant when you leave.

Food came very slow is the main complaint. But we got the lunch special $35 pre fixe so worth it, the Caesar salad was delicious and so was the clam chowder. Spicy wontons were very innovative similar to the rare steak tartare presentation but with a chip at the bottom. The entree mussels were absolutely delicious, just wish the mussels were bigger in size and more quantity. The beef bolognese was huge portion. Steak sandwich seemed a bit dry and overcooked. The cowboy ribeye was a bit over charred on the corners so bit burnt but the inside was quite flavorful. Mashed potatoes were creamy too. Dessert crème brûlée was delicious $15 with crispy top. Overall amazing food and views, good for a slow meal

Stopped here today for a late lunch with my boyfriend. Although I'd read more than a few so-so…read morereviews, this was the most packed out restaurant on Main Street so I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. Let me start by saying it wasn't a bad experience but it certainly didn't exceed my expectations. The food was good, but a bit bland in my opinion. My boyfriend ordered the L.A. chicken sandwich with fries which was pretty average. Tasted like a less rich version of a chicken parm to be honest. I ordered myself a cocktail (the Hugo Spritz) and one of their specials - the wild Montauk cod. The drink was just okay - menu said it was Prosecco with a splash of elderberry liquor and mint. Really tasted like a tall glass of Prosecco mixed with seltzer. The cod was a nice cut of fish but very bland. It was served baked and topped with crabmeat and a lemon butter sauce with sides of mashed potatoes and veggies. Even after adding salt and pepper I found myself wishing I'd ordered an extra side of sauce as it was the most flavorful thing on the plate. In addition to the bland food and drink, the wait time was unexpectedly long. I will say they were pretty busy when we arrived but we didn't have to wait for a table. They had a beautiful courtyard for outdoor dining. I popped inside to use the restroom and the bar was pretty packed with patrons watching the soccer game. Still, it did not explain the longer than usual wait times. I may give this spot one more try since I live in the area and saw some other yummy looking menu items but I really hope it's improvement to this visit.
