    Scones
    Jo Y.

Bits and Bites Café in the HI Kai Towne Center is known for its wide variety of scones with unique flavors, such as lilikoi, ube, matcha, black sesame, kalamansi, salted caramel, and more. It also offers specialty coffees, teas, and other baked items, such as Japanese and Basque cheesecakes. The owner of Mama' Nita Scones that was established in 2019 and located in Kailua, retired in 2024, and a new owner who had a passion for baking, Jesssica Cai, took over the business. Jessica renamed the business to Bits & Bites Café, and moved to HI Kai with its soft opening on 8/18/24, while offering the same scones and also her own scone creations, hot/cold coffee, tea, cocoa, lilikoi soda, and fresh fruit teas. Her scone creations were highly praised for their quality, texture, and unique flavors. I tried the strawberry and lilikoi scones and enjoyed that real strawberries and lililkoi juice that were used in baking process. While the scones were on the smaller side, you could taste the authenticity of the fruits, the firmness and crunchiness of the outside, and its moistness and dense interior, without being overly sweet. The scones were tasty; however, I found the scones to be pricy at about $6 each. The higher price may be attributed to Jessica's hand-mixing of every scone and the use of high-quality ingredients. Popular flavors sell out quickly. Online ordering the day before or call-in-orders can assure you of specific flavors that you want. Jessica not only bakes everything on premises, but also personally handles the selling of the scones in her shop. She was friendly and enjoyed chatting while sharing her passion of her scones. I had planned to try and order one scone, but her sales talk tried to convince me to buy two scones instead, and which I did. Hours of operation are: Tues to Fri, 7a to 3p; Sat 8a to 4p; Sun 8a to 1p; Mon closed. Located across from Costco and next to Diagnostic Lab in the former Taco Del Mar spot, free parking in the private lot is available that is shared with other businesses. It may be difficult to find parking when Costco is open. The store is clean and small, as it is take-out only. While the scones are flavorful, I am in no hurry to rush back to purchase more due to my perceived value of the scones based on the high costs. I'm happy for Bits & Bites Café for its success over the past 1 1/2 years and wish them continued success for many more years.

SUPPORT LOCAL FAMILY OWNED BUSINESSES! Wonderful customer service, quick in and out QUALITY coffee and drinks. I don't even like scones unless it's from England because elsewhere they're dry. Here it's worth coming for. Milk alternates, almond milk my choice.

The Black Sesame scone is good!

I love that Bits & Bites has moved to Hawaii Kai. Their previous location in Kailua was out of the way for me. The new shop, across Costco, is everyday convenient. These scones are nice sized. The exterior is firm and crumbles slowly, and most of them have a pretty piped glaze. The inside is moist without being wet. I can enjoy these with a warm or cold beverage - and yes, scones are better enjoyed with a beverage. If you want to give someone a nice morning surprise, Bits & Bites Cafe is open at 7:00am. And they have a box that will hold 4-6 scones. A little something for everyone.

Awesome service. Love that she makes things pure and simple, healthy for her family. Flavors are wonderful! So wonderful that I can never choose just 1 or a few. I always walk out with way too many scones. The drinks are excellent too. My fav is her savory scones.

Stumbled across while heading to Costco. They are directly across the parking lot of Costco. Lots of parking. A very small hole in the mall (wall) haha. Scones were good. Cheese cake was also good. Maybe I'm not a big scone and cheesecake fan but I (and this is just me) thought is was kinda dry. I guess all scones are generally dry. My coffee drink was amazing tho. I finished the coffee before I could finish the scones and cheese cake. The service was great. They were very helpful and patient to explain all the flavors they had. Mahalo Bits & Bites Cafe

Scones are probably one of my fave things, so couldn't resist checking this place out. Arrived at around 9:30am on Sunday and some items were already sold out. Started off with an iced Tiramisu latte - yum! We were just going to order a couple of scones but ended up with a box of 6 because we wanted to try so many of them. Ordered lilikoi cream cheese, guava cream cheese, jalapeño cheddar, earl grey, matcha white chocolate and coconut. All of the favors came through for each of them but my faves were the guava cream cheese and coconut. Kiddo's was the earl grey and hubs liked the jalapeño cheddar. The owner was friendly. So many other things we wanted to try like the cheesecake and frozen bites. We'll be back to try more.

This place is a small shop we were directed to almost immediately after arriving in Hawaii! These scones are AWESOME-- great texture and flavor, and boy are they popular! They sell out of some flavors as early as 8am sometimes, so we hauled ourselves here twice as early as possible to get scones of all flavors for everyone! Choc chip is very popular amongst my family. Others we ordered twice/really liked and would get again: banana choc chip, black sesame, ube, blueberry, & lemon. I've also heard the lilikoi is amazing! The service was prompt and all the scones were handled carefully so we could tell everything apart when we got back. I do think it's a steep price: $5.95/scone is a lot, but it IS hawaii, so I can't be too surprised ‍

The first time we had the basque cheesecake (guava), I split one with my husband, who's not much of a sweets person. He ate his half and was just staring at my half that I hadn't eaten yet. "Was it ok?" I asked. "Might have been the best cheesecake I've ever had," he grumbled. Welp, now we're back for more. All loaded up, and we are NOT sharing The ube cheesecake is soooo good (maybe call ahead for availability)...that crusty top is incredible. The owner is super nice!! They also make great japanese-style cheesecake and scones (calamansi and "abomination" Halloween scone freebie in the pic). This spot will definitely be in our treat rotation!

Lilikoi cream cheese and guava scones

Always worth the drive but remember to go early because she sells out fast! Our favorites are Lilikoi cram cheese, chocolate chip and blueberry. She also makes great coffee and lilikoi soda

The owner is so sweet and took the time to tell us about her business! Everything is handmade and organic which I really appreciate, which is why you know it is fresh. She really makes it a point to use good ingredients in the process of creating her pastries and you can really tell when you try them. The scones were one of the best I've had. The Kona Coffee one in particular was delicious and somehow I was able to get the last one. Perfect ratio of crunch and softness. The lilikoi soda was amazing and is one of her highlight drinks from her shop. This was super refreshing and I loved it. The puree she uses is fresh from the fruit. The cheesecake was also a winner. Definitely a must-visit place if you are ever in the area in Hawaii Kai.

It's a quaint little place. Coffee good, Scones good, Cheesecake good. Should I say more? The service was fantastic. I literally felt like I went into my moms or grandmas kitchen and got food. You can tell everything is made with LOVE. I would have posted pictures of the coffee, scones and everything else but it was gone so fast that I didn't have enough time to snap a pic. Sending all my love and I'll be back!

Such a cute little shop and nice owner. Came here a couple times. Scones are so delicious, not too sweet and not dry. So many different flavors and options to choose from, they have sweet and savory. Scones are about $5 Just needs working on their lattes. We got a Hawaiian honey latte and a tirimisu latte. The tirimisu latte was good with a cheese foam. The Hawaiian honey latte was made in an interesting order, where the honey was first followed by ice and cold milk the the espresso. This caused the honey to get hard and not dissolve in the latte. Since it was just a plain latte on the first sip you could kind of taste a little burnt on the espresso. Once the ice melted and the honey was able to stir and mix it was really light on honey flavor. Mixed the drinks together because the Hawaiian honey latte just wasn't good. Lattes were about $7 each. Not sure if wed order drinks but Definitely will come back for the scones.

Bits & Bites Cafe is situated in the Hawaii Kai Towne Centre across from the Costco Food Court. I believe they were originally located in Kailua. They specialize in scones - also providing cakes and coffee beverages. Now, there are a surprising number of bakeries/cafes that offer excellent scones and this is another establishment that I can add to my scone short list. Scones aren't everyone's preference as they're dense and can be a bit dry. At Bits & Bites, the scones are dense, as per usual, but not dry - at least they weren't too dry to my palate. They offer savory scones as well. I tried the Ghost Pepper & Shiitake scone. The owner assured me it was not too hot; she uses one per batch (of 20) and they were fantastic. She may want to put two ghost peppers in a batch, not sure if I wanna give that feedback Lilikoi Scone was also very good. Traditional scones so it may not be for everyone.

You can choose either a waffle of cake cones. We chose a variety of three sorbet and three dairy ice creams. I'm not much of a sweet tooth so it was really nice to see a large variety of sorbet options that weren't dairy-heavy. We tried: 1. Strawberry guava sorbet- my favorite sorbet of the flight. You could distinctly taste both flavors and it was super refreshing 2. Pineapple lilikoi sorbet- tasted like a pineapple smoothy 3. Calamansi- tasted exactly like the fruit and really hit the spot 4. Campfire- tasted like vanilla with a hint of a smokey flavor 6. POG cheesecake- very interesting and something new! Whenever we head out to Makapuʻu, we used to always stop by Uncle Clay's House of Pure Aloha. Since they closed down, we decided to try Kokonuts for the first time. I had high hopes because of the photos on the wall of President Obama and Isaac Sopoaga's #NinerNation, but the quality just wasn't there. The shave ice itself wasn't shaved well. It was chunky, which is disappointing since smooth ice is the standard here in Hawaiʻi. The flavors tasted like generic, high-sugar syrups, and the mochi was tiny and buried at the very bottom. To top it off, there was nowhere to sit and no trash can available for customers. It is hard to compete when there are so many other amazing shave ice spots on Oahu. To make matters worse, my wife ordered an acai bowl that ended up having a hair in it. We ultimately had to throw both the shave ice and the acai bowl away. For $24, you would at least expect better quality and better food safety. Sadly, we won't be back.

The restaurant was pretty busy when we visited and there was a wait at the door. Heavenly is located in the Koko Marina shopping center. There's lots of parking available. The ambiance is great and there is a fantastic view of the surrounding water. The seating is super comfy and casual with sofa-style chairs to sit in. Heavenly has a very eclectic menu. A large portion of the menu is dedicated to breakfast offerings, but there is also a very sizable selection of Japanese dishes. I wasn't craving anything for breakfast, so I opted for the Beef Sukiyaki Combo, which came with a hefty portion of beef sukiyaki, rice, a soft-poached egg, and miso soup. This really hit the spot. Everything was delicious. If you like gyudons, you should definitely consider the beef sukiyaki here. My wife ordered the loco moco and subbed in a falafel patty. I was expecting the patty to be hard and/or dry, but it was utterly perfect! It was crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. And it paired so well with the gravy, egg, and rice. I would highly recommend this dish as well. We ordered an acai bowl for my young daughter, which was also great. This is our new brunch spot on the east side!

I'm not a cold brew person, but the macnut flavored cold brew along with the coconut flavored cold foam had no traces of bitterness n' gave a nice sweetness. Even though both drinks were on the pricier side (had to do with the 20oz we got), they ended up being worth the yuMmminess!

I had a hard time decided because everything looked so food. We will be back to try more drinks and food. The only complaint I had was the people vaping right next to use and they didn't seem to care or see it as problem.

Parking: lot of parking from it being in a shopping center so don't worry about that. Service: it was a bit slow at night but I wanted to get a lemonade. I'm down to try didn't flavors so I know if I'll like it next time or not. I got the blue Hawaii lemonade & to be honest it tasted more like a piña colada, so I didn't really like mines. My daughter got the cookies & cream shake or smoothie & she loved it. The drinks are a bit pricey. They did have those Dubai chewy cookie but for $8 for one no thank you. They also have the Dubai chocolate bar but didn't get it. The area is very neat & clean. Would I come back?? Sure, but only if in the area again.

I thought that I could enter the drawing for $500, but this location isn't linked to that promotion... darn! Located in a shared space with Loco Moco at Koko Marina Center, the lone woman at the counter was just okay. It was a bit noisy from the customers on the other side of the room, so she had to speak a bit louder. I figured that since I'm there - and we walked all the way across the parking lot - and around the corner to find this place, I should get something... because it was quite a warm October day... My order was a POG (passion orange guava) iced tea. The woman didn't ask me for my level of sweetness or amount of ice. She just made the standard. It was alright. I let the ice melt because it was a bit sweet. I saw the passion fruit seeds on the bottom of my cup which told me that it's pretty authentic. I'll stick with the other locations of Teapresso Bar where the service is friendlier; the location is more convenient; and the environment is calmer.
