Scones in Kailua, O'ahu, Hawaii... Japanese style scones are different from the norm as Rod U. described in his review. They are moist, have a light glaze on the top, and are not too sweet. I was lucky to find metered street parking right in front of the shop. Jessica, the knowledgeable, helpful owner, was very efficient and competent. I told her, "One of each" because I couldn't decide. I got two "bits" (smaller sized scones). I liked the Liliko'i Cream Cheese more than the Guava Cream Cheese because the flavor was stronger and tart. The flavors of six "bites" (regular sized scones) were: matcha, ube, coconut, Peppermint Bark, Liliko'i, and blueberry. My favorite was the blueberry because of the fresh fruits in it. This is a small, local shop that I'm happy to support. I will call and order 24 hours in advance for the seasonal flavors such as pumpkin. Stopped by this cute shop from seeing reviews on yelp and Google! Walked in and shop has small seating area with tables and chairs and menu posted on wall for good and drinks. You can tell scones are fresh and was acknowledged right away when we walked in. Definitely has the small Cafe vibes about it and now on to flavor... We picked up a 6 pack of scones that came out to just about $35 total. 1- Guava Cream cheese 2- Rainbow 3- coconut 4- Blueberry 5- Cinnamon Banana 6- Lilikoi Now I love sweet, but not on my pastires and I was hesitant about buying the lilikoi and guava but was reassured it wasn't as sweet as I thought. sure enough it wasn't Smooth flavors throughout the scones, nice icing on top. Yay for more brunch and coffee options! I believe this is located in the old taco Del Mar spot in Hawaii Kai town center. This is their second location as the first was in Kailua. The shop is small, order to go kind of spot. I think they're pet friendly which is nice. They have a bunch of different specialty drinks and I tried their tiramisu latte which I loved! Very delicious and perfectly tangy and sweet cream topping with yummy espresso. We came a few hours after opening and a bunch of scones were sold out but we got lucky and tried the red velvet and the chive cheddar scone. Pretty big size, tasty, and a nice crumbly texture. I think I saw some other desserts available too but seems like you have to come early. We shall we back but at closer to opening to have more selection to choose from. read more

She explains all her sconces and makes it all sound delicious and they all are yummy! We got the cream cheese guava and lilikoi- lavender- coconut- guava and lilikoi keeping to as many local flavor selection and we went disappointed! Is alright to me, their scone and latte. If you are in the area, you can give them a try. Since they are right across from Costco Hawai'i Kai now, very easy to find. No indoor seating, so mostly buy and go. The scone is okay, the matcha flavor not too strong. Tiramisu latte is okay. One scone and one latte total around $13. Is awkward the female owner ask if I want a straw for the latte, I said yes and then she grab one AND open for me! I thought she would leave the top sleeve on so I can take it off myself but she took that off too. Very awkward cause who knows what she touch... but at least I saw she only touch the tong and paper bag to put in the scones.... I think is better to just put the straw out for people to grab themselves if they want. I would stick to 9Bar or Honolulu Coffee for scone. read more

So yummy! My son loved the chocolate chip scone and the homemade sodas. We weren't sure if he would like it and our barista was super helpful in explaining it. He tried it and loved it. My boyfriend and I had iced coffees. He got his with with foam and mine was basic. We enjoyed the coconut scone and the bacon cheddar scone. I personally loved the coconut scone. It's great there are so many scone flavors so everyone can pick the the flavor they like best. The drinks were very refreshing and were a great start to our morning. The shop is little and cute. They're baked fresh daily and they have many sweet and savory flavors like lilikoi cream cheese, guava cream cheese, blueberry, chocolate chip, matcha white chocolate, bacon cheddar, spicy sausage with red grilled pepper and more. They also offer organic and gluten-free scones! Their flavors change often so check their website for their latest offerings. My absolute favorites are the cream cheese ones, especially lilikoi and guava, but I've tried other flavors and they're all fluffy, moist and delicious! I love the drizzle on top of the scones. This review is only for deliciousness of pastry (blueberry scones) as we were the recipient of a box of scones that was dropped off at our office. This is the first time I've heard of Bits & Bites Cafe, so I was glad to try some. Inside the box there was a wide variety of flavors as the scones were all different colors. I selected a blueberry scone and it was good, not to heavy, not to light, but just right. We've simplified it and Let the baker drizzle sweet glaze atop for us settling the matter. It's how Bits and Bites does it and wow, does it work! Outstanding, if not the very best scones in Hawaii. Note: These are Japanese scones. Lots of baked in organic fruit, very well controlled sweetness, not excessively butter or flakey rather more moist and dense like a banana bread with a firm crust. At the start of the day, still warm, ridiculously aromatic and oh so good! A blueberry scone, amazing. Whole, large blueberries within giving a burst of tartness in the mildly sweet scone. The lilikoi version, outstanding with it's incredible concentrated lilikoi glaze giving a very pleasing, fragrant, sweet sour upfront taste. The coconut, smells of fresh roasted coconut and has a flakier crust as if coconut oil was added to the mix. The list goes on and on. Flavors, including cream cheese filled and savory scones vary daily. Order 24 hours in advance and the friendly owner will bake any flavor on her website. Japanese jiggly cheesecakes and mult layer crepe cakes can also be ordered with 24 hour notice. Prices are in line for a boutique, artisan product, $3.25 - $3.95 per scone. I've never been a huge fan of scones, but the scones from Bits & Bites do agree with my taste buds. Upon my arrival at about 10:30 on a weekday, there weren't any blueberry scones in stock. But they did have the lilikoi, which is another popular item, and for good reason - it's delicious! It was crisp on the outside, but moist and gooey on the inside. I dropped something off at Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station and thought it would be nice to check out a new bakery in the area. Yelped and found this one so I thought I'd give it a go. Of course I decided to visit that side of the island on one of the days where there was massive rainfall. It was lightly cloudy in town and the first day of the torrential rains on Oahu so had no idea what I was driving into. Thankfully I grew up in Kaneohe so driving in rain is no big deal, just another day on the road. Because of the rain the shop was empty and I had it all to myself. The owner came out and shared all the goodies she had available. She makes them all herself daily - talk about fresh! There was a sign saying she makes gluten free as well so I asked about that. She shared that she makes them in batches of 12 or more when ordered, and if you're someone who wants just a few and lives nearby, that you can leave your phone number. When she has a large order she'll contact you to see if you want a few, and if you do, she'll make a larger batch so you can have your fresh gluten free goodies without buying a dozen! I love blueberry scones so tried one of those, and a lilikoi cream cheese. OMG the likikoi blew my usual blueberry favorite away. Blew. It. Away. It's a good thing I returned to the mainland for a bit. If not I'd be here all the time trying her 'ono fresh baked goodies!!! read more

This place has the most delicious scones ever!! We were going around the windward side and the place popped up on the Yelp app. I was so intrigued, I had to try it. Parking is very limited and its roadside parking only. We were able to get parking right in the front, so hopefully you will be lucky too! The place is such a tiny shop! They do online ordering, so if you can't find parking, just order online and pick it up quick! We decided on: Lilikoi cream cheese scones Lemon cream cheese scones Bacon cheddar and cheese scones. Great little scone specialty bakery that's been open for about two years. It is a boutique scone shop that offers a nice variety of handmade scones and related items. Their scones are flavorful and moist with all natural (as well as organic) ingredients. I would definitely recommend ordering online and scheduling a pickup, especially during this Covid19 situation. If you must go at the last minute like I did, you can plan to wait awhile and possibly run the chance of not having the items (or any) that you may want. Since they make everything from scratch, it does take some time to get everything ready, especially since they were recently aired on KHON TV2 and are super busy. There really need to be more small shops like this in Kailua to bring back the small town atmosphere that's been slowly fading away with the "big box" stores like Target and Whole Foods. So many small businesses are struggling during this time (or have already closed) and it's encouraging to know that places like this find a way to still bring quality and fight thru these tough times. I wanted to thank some nurses that had been great to my mom so I bought a couple of half-dozen sampler boxes along with extra orders so we could enjoy some scones ourselves! Ordering online was easy, it said to do it 24 hours in advance. I chose a time the next day, placed my order, and within a few minutes the owner sent an email that they'd see me at that time the next day! Cool! The next morning she called again to check on how I wanted things packaged. The gifts for the nurses were in a nice box with a thank you sticker on them. The shop is small and quaint, and the most wonderful smell when you step in. I got to try the lilikoi, blueberry, and ube scones. All were excellent and very delicious. I also feel like they look beautiful too! These are not the cheapest scones and a bit on the smaller side, but I give 5 stars for the wonderful care that goes into these scones. She has a passion for baking, and her scones are delicious. For me the challenge was trying to decide which ones to have. They all looked so pretty and I'm sure they're all very yummy. This was my second visit and I chose an assortment of the blueberry, matcha, Lilikoi, and glazed chocolate coffee ones. My friend and I enjoyed the coffee scones with our lattes that we got from another coffee place. The remaining ones we each took home to enjoy. If you're in the area and in the mood for some tasty scones then check out this small local business. You won't be disappointed. The hours are from 8am until 1pm Monday- Saturday. Went in and the owner is so sweet . I got a honey late and a lavender scone. Both were so delicious. The scone was so soft and the lavender flavor was perfect . I highly recommend stopping in . I tried the cream cheese lilikoi scone and the pumpkin spice scone. They were just ok. The dough of the lilikoi scone was bland, there was too much cream cheese and not enough of the lilikoi glaze. The pumpkin spice was much better. The dough was spiced nicely and had the right amount of glaze. My main issue is the price. Each scone was $5.95. They're small in size and mediocre in taste. We made it a point to stop here during our short one-day trip to Kailua, because I read all the raving reviews about the fresh, moist scones that are sold. We arrived at around 1pm on a Monday (MLK day), and there were only about half the varieties left. The owner was very sweet and told us how she uses fresh and organic fruits whenever she can. We ended up getting the: Lilikoi Cream Cheese Scone $3.25 - just as all the reviews said, this one was the best! The lilikoi flavor was prominent and just a bit tart, which was great with the creamy cream cheese. The inside for both the lilikoi and the raspberry ones were very soft and moist - it was like a dense cake (and resembles the texture of the Diamond Head Market & Grill scones) Organic Raspberry Cream Cheese Scone $3.25 - not as strong a raspberry flavor as I was hoping, I think this one was my least favorite. Peppermint Bark Scone $3.95 - I really liked this one. Bummer that it wasn't as moist as the fruity ones, and just a tad bit on the dry side, but I guess it can't be helped because the ingredients that go into it are different. It tasted like she used the Andie's mint chocolates for it - you could see the pockets of mint syrup oozing out of the melted chocolate on the inside. read more
