Came in as a group of 3 at 10pm on a weekday. The restaurant itself was pretty crowded but there was no one in the waiting area so we thought that the wait wouldn't be that long. We were told that our wait was going to be about 20-25 minutes due to have only 2 servers for the eating area, which was fine with us. We ended up waiting closer to 40 minutes with no updates throughout from the staff until we had to go up ourselves and ask about how much longer we had to wait. We eventually got seated around closer to 11pm. We were there mainly for the pizookies but also ordered other items off the menu, such as the brewhouse bites sampler and the deep dish ziti. Pizookie itself satisfied the sweet tooth cravings but the other dishes were fairly subpar. Would go here again only if I had cravings for the pizookies. Our server however was very nice and attentive. She checked in with us very often to see how things were going and if we needed anything. Food itself also came out fast (around 10-15 minutes). However the wait time was very off putting, especially that late at night. We ended up spending a bit over 2 hours at the restaurant, half of which was pure waiting.
Yesterday was my daughter's birthday, so we decided to celebrate at BJ's. With no prior reservation, we arrived at 8 p.m. as a party of 8. The in-laws were in attendance. The wait was reasonable given our party size, and believe it or not, there were quite a few people dining. I wish they had a separate area for larger parties that didn't involve seating us in the middle of the walkway, but what other choice did they have? Our waiter started off strong. He greeted us, gathered our drink and appetizer orders right away. We were saddened to hear they discontinued their root beer wings (a family favorite), so we opted for their peppered BBQ wings as well as the lemon pepper wings. Both were bone-in. Although they weren't as good as the root beer wings, we all agreed the peppered BBQ wings were the better of the chosen appetizers. I ordered my usual jambalaya ( it's a safe choice) along with a side of the honey sriracha Brussels sprouts. My F-I-L ordered the pork chop with mash and asparagus. My S.O. ordered prime rib (medium-rare) mash and asparagus as well. Of course, there were others at the table, but those are the three entrees I'm going to focus on. The food arrived before our table was cleared. The table was never cleared until the end. A pet peeve that will ruin a pleasurable dining experience is being rushed to order, entrees arriving without the appetizer plates being cleared, and being thirsty without water or the waiter in sight. We were victims of all three. As you can imagine, we are already a large party, so space as well as movement were limited when placing the food on the table and indulging. The jambalaya is my safe choice for a reason. Despite how bland I found it to be, it was still edible. The honey sriracha sprouts were a great mix of sweet and spicy with a little crunch to it. It was my favorite part of my meal. The pork chop looked amazing and was well plated and sized nicely, my F-I-L did however complain that it was also bland, we joked that the asparagus were so thin we called them shoelace asparagus, too emaciated to enjoy. As for the prime rib, it was prepared medium rare as requested and devoured though again it was found to be rather bland in flavor. As we went around the table eating our meals, my daughter's baked potato received the highest rating of an 8.4/10. The Pork chop was rated a 7/10, the Prime Rib was an 8/10 and my jambalaya was a solid 7/10. The waiter refilled water for two out of the 8 of us without having to be asked immediately after the food was delivered, in spite of the other cups being visibly half empty. We waited quite a bit for the waiter to return to offer to go containers and take our dessert orders, at this time our table still hadn't been cleared. At this point we have appetizer plates, dinner plates, to-go containers all on the table as the dessert arrived. It wasn't until the birthday pizookie was placed on the table, that the table was cleaned. Around this time we also noted that the door directly adjacent to the table was being opened and closed often resulting in an uncomfortably cold breeze disrupting our enjoyment. With a table full of all the things, and a breeze that gave winter and food that didn't quite meet our standard, we were ready to leave and so we did. The food and service quality has left much to be desired so it will likely be a while before we visit again.
We're finally done with our SF assignment, and I'm so glad to be outta there, with all that traffic and crowds and high prices. Back in the East Bay now and it time to get some lunch. BJ's Brewhouse still has the $13 Pizookie specials. I've had these before at other locations and really thought they were a great deal and very tasty! This location is right off Contra Costa Blvd. in the Sun Valley Mall. Just turn in and park in front. It's so nice to have a big parking lot compared to that disaster in SF! We get seated and drink orders taken. I got the $13 Pizookie special with the Classic topping personal deep dish pizza. You have a bunch of other choices, even a burger, but I think the deep dish is the best deal, cause it comes with a salad as well. All of the Pizookie specials come with a mini Pizookie dessert of different flavors. That mini size is plenty of dessert, yep it's super sweet if you're one of those people that needs to watch their sugar intake. Three outta the four on my crew get the deep dish pizza option. It was a little while for them to come out. We got the salads first and I gotta say the side salads are decent sized here for sure. The pizzas seem small in diameter, but they're real thick and not just all thick with bread but all the toppings! We all finished with that Pizookie dessert and I had the strawberry and cream version, I was actually pretty damn tasty. I'd come back to BJ's of any location as long as they keep this Pizookie deal going!
Came here for happy hour a couple of weeks ago. The bartender was super friendly and constantly checked in on us. Margaritas were great. We also got some wings and a personal pizza. I loved the all meat personal pizza. Loved all the toppings! Good deal on happy hour!!
I had low expectations walking in as I saw two of the staff sitting on a bench at the front door smoking vapes. A complete turn off and such a sanitary situation. They walked in with us, looking back as I mentioned the fact they shouldn't be smoking at the door. Aaron was our server. He was very attentive and friendly. Took our order and it was accurate. The food was good and fresh. Pizza was cheesy and crust was buttery. Pepperoni galore. Salad was delicious and full flavor. The pizookie- triple chocolate chunk- so good. Overall, a good experience. We will be back
Always wanted to try out their $13 pizzokie meal deal, so I finally had time to give it a shot. I ordered via online, so it would be a lot easier for me to pick it up once I arrive at the Mall. Smash Burger: It was a pretty decent burger for the price. There were two patties smashed together, along with the normal fixings of cheese, produce and pickles. It was not too greasy nor too oily. The sauce was not overwhelming either, so the bun was able to keep its form. The fries were a bit of a letdown. It was crispy but I fed the amount I got was a lot less than what I would get if I dined in. Salted Caramel Pizzokie: I chose this as my little dessert. Everything comes separate, so you can assemble it at home. It was a lot of ice cream for the little cookie, but it was absolutely delicious. Definitely taste the salt and the caramel counter balances it for the sweetness. The chips were also a good texture. Overall, I can see myself ordering here again, especially for the pizzokie deal.
Overall pleasant experience during a short visit solely for a dessert and a to-go food. BJ's restaurant and brewhouse is located at SunValley Shopping Center, just outside by the parking lot and no need to go inside the mall itself. This place reminds me of Applebees or Outback steakhouse and similar places vibe. The front person is somehow not attentive, no greetings nor us asked why we are there, we had to ask him and say for two to be assisted and seated. I finally had the opportunity to taste the mouth watering pizookie, we had the salted caramel pizookie and chocolate chunk pizookie, and delectable chicken parmigiana dinner. The server Jade is amazing and helped us all throughout the short visit. Out food arrived in a timely manner, a little bit wait is expected as it is a Sunday I assume. They have a bar, also have an outdoor seating. Overall it's a good experience and would like to come back and try the weekday deals.
When my friend and I decided to meet at BJ Brewhouse, we forgot it was a holiday. Much busier than usual during the noon hour. Apparently at least one server had not shown up and that added to the delay in being seated. We ended up in the bar area by the window. Our server was extra busy and it was hard to flag her down as we were quite a distance from her work station. Our food was fine. My friend enjoyed her clam chowder in a bread bowl. The top of the bowl had been sliced into a small piece and toasted. I had a bite and it was delicious. My friend also ordered hot tea. No choice on tea was offered and she ended up with two bags of chamomile. That selection was fine with her but quite odd that a black tea was not offered. I had the vegetarian BJ Brewhouse Bowl. (Also available with chicken, shrimp, or salmon.) Love the combination and quite filling. One of the more economical lunches (aside from the lunch specials.) Overall BJ's has a good menu. Something for almost every taste. Pazookies are not my favorite so it would be nice to have another dessert option other than a scoop of ice cream. BJ Brewhouse is looking a bit "tired" ... which can be said of all of Sunvalley. But it still is a decent option when in the area. I'll be back ... despite my three star rating. Food is four stars, but atmosphere and service lower.
Came to BJ's twice and each time the service exceeded expectations. The staff here are friendly, attentive, and quick. BJ is also kid/family friendly. The food, in particular the smash burger is surprisingly good. I always just thought BJ was known for its pizza and pazooki, but the burger is nothing to sneeze at. It's very flavorful, well proportioned, and hits just right. The fries are also crispy on the outside and moist on the inside - very addictive. Will definitely come back and recommend for a family outing.
Went for our 27th anniversary, and the experience was amazing. I ordered a somewhat-complicated manhattan that wasn't on the menu and our server Justina made it happen! She was super accommodating with my wife's tree nut allergy as well which was so refreshing, since not a lot of restaurants nowadays look out for the little guy. We ordered the Mac&cheese balls for starters, and my prime rib was cooked great as well, compliments to the kitchen! The music was a bit loud but thankfully it was good music :-) definitely another great anniversary on the books because out or server! You rock Justina! -Rich.
What a joke ! Who is running this place? After they screwed my delivery order up, which I ordered through their website. Supposedly my order was cancelled 45 min after I ordered it due to there being no more tritip! I called and spoke with a manager. I told him, you already charged my credit card and charged me for delivery , but I was hungry so I said I'd come pick the order up. Now they have tri tip available again an hour later. That's funny! He told me my order got cancelled because there was no tri tip. Anyhow, I drive down there to get my order, the guy in front seemed brain dead . I told him my name and I was picking up a takeout order. I sat there waiting 15 min and he says , duhhh what's the name for the order again? I give him my name again and he grabs the bag that was sitting there the whole time I'd been waiting. I get home and look in the bag and there is no salad , the baked potato has nothing on it , not how I ordered it and the tri tip was like chewing on a piece of leather. Top it all off and my pazooli cookie is missing the ice cream. Do these people even care to try and get someone's order right? I work hard for my money and to have it wasted on an order that was all wrong and thrown together half ass really pisses me off. So after reading the reply from the business owner below , to contact them at their email which I did , and never heard back from them. I didn't think I would !
Hello. My friends and I were at Bjs yesterday, June 11th at around 8 pm when the mall closed. We were a group of 4 teenage girls and felt like we were getting mistreated because of that. Once we arrived we had to wait about 15-20 minutes which is fine we didn't mind that. When we were seated one of the servers who is a little bit on the shorter side and wore glasses threw us three coasters when there were four of us and said "'ll be back to take your guys's orders." About 15-20 minutes go by and no sign of any workers to take our order. When we were helped by a different sever we ordered drinks and our pizookies together since that's all we were there for. Another 15 minutes go by, no drinks in sight and not even another coaster. After about 45 minutes we get our drinks and then soon after we got out pizookies but, one of them were wrong so the servers brought it back to the kitchen. My friends and I asked for some plates and a couple more spoons and when we were given them, one of the plates were dirty with pizza grease and some sort of pizza toppings. (i'll insert a photo below) We ate the first pizookie in about 10 minutes and waited for our second one for about 20 minutes. While we were eating, we weren't checked up on at all but the tables around us were. When my friends and I were ready to pay we scanned the qr code on our table and found out it didn't work. So, we tried to get one of our servers attention to get the check but we were completely ignored. Once the check was brought we waited another 20 minutes for our server to come pick it up. I understand restaurants can get busy but, at around the time we were there it wasn't that busy at all. My friends and I noticed that all the tables around us were getting served and checked up on regularly and we weren't. After we left we had called the restaurant and were put on hold for the manager. When they answered it instantly hung up. We called again and talked to one of the managers didn't seem to care. We have gone to this location before and it was perfectly fine. I just wanted to come on here and warn people that my friends and I did not have a good experience here yesterday.
BJ's is killer when it comes to pizookie. The Concord location has pleasant people working there. Dining at BJ's is always a great time, sports, beers, mozz sticks, can't go wrong. The biscoff pizookie was not as overwhelming as I expected. It was crispy and warm. The ice cream combo was spot on.

Stopped by recently on a late Friday afternoon after catching a movie in Pleasant Hill. I had been anxious to try the Concord BJ's clam chowder as the same dish in the San Rafael BJ's had been fantastic. When we got there we were seated immediately as there were plenty of open tables, more people being in the bar area. But the restaurant quickly filled up and by 6:15 it was packed and hopping. One thing we were surprised by was the lack of Holiday decorations, this being early December. A handful of poinsettias scattered around was the sole nod to the season. My order of the clam chowder in a sourdough bowl was as good as I remembered it. The chowder was excellent, and if possible, the bread was even better - freshly baked sourdough worthy of a meal unto itself! My wife had the Vegetarian Pita Tacos, and although the pita was excellent, the meal itself was too oniony. For dessert we decided to try their "world-famous" pizookie, which is a freshly baked cookie in a miniature round pizza tin, topped by ice cream and sauce. Not cheap at seven dollars, so we split the triple chocolate pizookie. We were somewhat disappointed by this world-famous dessert. The cookie was good, not great, and the chocolate ice cream was nothing special, tasting like grocery store ice cream. The sauce, from Ghirardelli chocolate, was the high point. While we were eating a couple of large groups were seated in our area, and our server was tasked with the table of 12. Alas, that was the last we saw of him, and after a long wait we finally flagged down someone to get the bill, and after another wait, finally snagged someone else to take our card. That was a little annoying, and made me realize I would never want to come here prior to a Friday night event where I had to be somewhere at a given time. Although my meal was excellent, five stars, my wife's meal, the dessert, and the long wait at the end knocks Concord BJ's down a couple stars unfortunately. read more
I stopped coming here years ago because the food was always inconsistent. One day it would be prepared one way and delicious and then next time you come, it's only so so with hardly any chicken in it etc. You get the picture. I also found the noise level excessively LOUD. Finally, after having a very upsetting experience with one of the waitresses , it put me totally off the place and I swore I would never go back there. Obviously I never stick to my word because I found myself back there again yesterday. I did give it about five years though. Haha. I had the Asian chopped chicken salad which was excellent except that the Mandarins that were in it were old and had gone off. They tasted fermented. My husband had the ham and cheese sandwich which he said was very good. Having all the calories posted beside the menu items is a double edged sword. It's nice to know the calorie content however when you see the astronomical amounts of calories that are in practically every dish, it makes you afraid. Very afraid... They do have some 'lowerish' items available too though. No complaints about the service. read more

We ordered the great beginnings which consisted of Boneless buffalo wings , avocado egg rolls , mozzarella sticks and spinach dip. Didn't taste very good kind of bland had to return it and switch it for just chicken wings . Ordered root beer bbq wings which were amazing ! Adult drinks we got Strawberry Margarita on the rocks which was very tasty and not watered down. Entrees went with the Cajun Jambalaya nicely seasoned Double bone pork chop with asparagus and baked potato. Pork chop was very juicy nicely cooked ! Sides were sides pretty good. Service pretty bad our waitress left us for about 25 mins without water, napkins or a "is everything ok". Looked outside and our waitress was on a break . ---KITCHEN STAFF FAILS MULTIPLE TIMES, SUCKS AT THEIR JOBS--- Went to the restaurant with my kids to grab a pizza, a burger and some crispy calamari. We live down the street from this restaurant and have been here before. First off, I had to go into the store because I was using a birthday gift card and for some odd reason you cannot use it on their site. This was a little annoying because I would have loved to pre-order and pick up. But alas, this was not an option so we went in and ordered at the counter. Person helping was nice and got our order in and we went to the bar to wait with root beers for the kids. All was good so far aside from the aforementioned issues. When we ordered we had asked if we could eat the calamari while we waited for the pizza, if it came out early. Again, the lady that took our order was great and brought the calamari to us in the bar. So far the service has been good and that is why we tip. We wish the calamari was as good as the service was but instead looked like the bottom of the fryer had been scraped out and dumped in our plastic takeout container. There were some pieces that resembled what calamari usually looks like so we ate those few pieces (which were quite tasty) and then were left with crumbs, very hard to eat crumbs of calamari. It is almost like the kitchen crew thought that they would just serve up crap because by the time the food got home we would just be so hungry that we would suffer through the crumbs. Kitchen staff FAIL #1 Shortly after we finished our calamari, our helpful takeout person brings us the rest of our order. The pizza was hot (the best part of it) but there was relatively little sauce, cheese or pepperoni. You would think that with three ingredients there would be no room for error. Well I guess the kitchen staff was not up for the task. FAIL #2 Next, I looked inside the bag that contained the burger and fries, and boy am I glad that I did. The container that the fries came in was virtually half full/ half empty. It was almost like the crew ate as they walked the food up. I try to not be too critical, but when you short change me something I am paying for (or one of my buddies paid for thanks to the gift card) I get a little frustrated. After all the one reason that we went to the restaurant was to eat food that they prepare for us and we exchange money for this. Well luckily our cheerful server took care of the problem and got us a fair portion of fries. Kitchen staff FAIL #3 So thinking that our order is complete, we leave the restaurant to go home and eat dinner. Well the pizza was crap, kids ate some of one piece and refused to eat anymore. I tried it to be fair since sometimes kids are too critical, and have to agree with the kids on this one. Dry and not much flavor at all. Might have been better if they had actually put sauce on the thing, but myself and the kids were not impressed. Kitchen Staff FAIL #4 Next up is the burger, which I enjoyed. At least until I bit into the tomato end (see picture). I mean how hard is it to put a good tomato on a bun, the stem is not edible, it is dry and tastes horrible. Does the kitchen team not know this or do they just not care. I would have to say that they just don't care. FAIL #5 The kitchen failed the front of the house horribly and they should be ashamed of themselves. I mean, the ONLY reason that they exist is to cook food that people buy to eat. This affords the restaurant the means to pay them wages and, Shazam, the economy is stimulated. I tipped the counter lady over 20% on a take out order and the lady that got the kids their sodas got 40%, I truly hope they don't share tips with the kitchen because, if they do, then I would like that portion of my tip back. Why should anyone settle for this kind of sub par, lazy product when we are paying good money with the expectation that we will get a decent meal? Yeah I used a gift card for most of my meal, but my friends paid for the card. It was not free. I also have been here a handful of times, the last time about a year ago and I paid with my own money and was not as disappointed. Maybe this is SOP for people with gift cards, maybe the staff that was there a year ago got replaced by the "suck at my job" crew in the kitchen now. Maybe they just don't want repeat business. Hard to make a case for that last one with the effort that the front of the house gave. I wonder what is different? hmmmm....makes you think.... BJ's Kitchen Crew: Is this the best you got? After my experience at this restaurant I will never eat at BJ's again I went here 7/16/22 for a family member's birthday and I ordered me and the birthday girl the best margaritas they had on the menu which is a basic margarita with patron . When we received our drinks i took a swallow and in mid swallow I noticed it was something solid in my smooth drink and choked and kept coughing to clear my throat when it came back up my throat it felt like I was coughing up a piece of bone and to find out it was a piece of Glass I panicked and told the waitress and she soon got her manager who apologized serval time and asked me if I need medical attention I refused because I have no healthcare insurance he told me that they would come and check me out on the spot with no insurance and I agreed then for the ambulance to get there and refuse to even look at my throat left me feeling anxious and scared of what might happen if I swallowed smaller pieces I didn't catch or if could die . After I paid my portion of the bill the manager apologized again and told me corporate will call me about the report of the incident. Today Monday 7/18/22 I received a call from corporate asking was I ok and would I like a gift certificate for the incident I refused I am traumatized from my experience here and probably will be checking the bottom of clear drinks with no ice for the rest of my life I will never eat at Bjs again this is my second bad experience at a Bjs restaurant smh they didn't even sing happy birthday to the birthday girl they , didn't comp us on none of the food or anything just a bunch of apologies. I've been meaning to return to this place ever since I tried their Pizookie. However, my husband is not much of a fan of these types of establishments. He only relented because we had out-of-state friends we wanted to take out for appetizers and dessert at 9pm on a Sunday evening, and this was the only decent place we know that was open late. AMBIANCE: I see it as a typical American chain with spacious dining area and extensive menu at moderate prices. SERVICE: I am docking a star because service was super slow. Granted that we were seated right away and our server was super friendly, the food took forever to come out from the kitchen. To think, the place was not packed as it was already 9pm. We just ordered drinks, an appetizer sampler, and a dessert sampler for crying out loud. We were almost finished with our drinks when the appetizer arrived. To make things worse, after encouraging us to try the different pizookie flavors, our server forgot to put the order in. So we waited a long time for...nothing. Major disappointment! We had to wait another half hour for dessert. Bummer! DRINKS: Piranha Pint -- $5.25 Pale ale Lightswitch Lager Pint -- $5.25 Malt flavored light beer Strawberry Margarita -- $9.50 Made of Ketel One Vodka and strawberries. Strawberry Splash -- $9.25 Made of Grey Goose Vodka, Disaronno Amaretto, Piña Colada and Strawberry Puree. I am not into alcoholic drinks, but I was able to appreciate this cocktail. FOOD: Best Beginnings -- $16.95 Consisted of Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Mozzarella Sticks, Avocado Egg Rolls and Santa Fe Spring Rolls. Excellent for sharing. That's not bad for a party of four. We could have saved 50% if we didn't order drinks. Word to the wise, go during happy hour if you want to save on drinks...duh! :) VERDICT: Be prepared to wait forever for your food to arrive. My most recent visit to this location I ordered and Bloody Mary ($7.95) and the Classic Rib-Eye ($21.95). As usual, the Bloody Mary was absolutely delicious. My steak came with a choice of two sides, I chose a baked potato and brussel sprouts. I ordered my steak rare and boy did they deliver! most places totally fail at preparing my steak as rare as I like it, but BJs knows exactly how to prepare a rare steak! My friend also ordered a steak, she got hers medium rare and she said it was cooked perfectly too. For one of her sides she ordered the Fresh Mozzarella and Tomato Salad which I tried I couple bites of, it was pretty good, the onions were a tad overpowering in my opinion. Our server Mackenzie was really attentive and was so sweet about me asking for extra sour cream and chives for my baked potato twice. The first time she brought us steak-sauce, the bottle was pretty much empty and when we asked for another one, the second one was empty as well. We laughingly said screw it and ate our steaks without any steak-sauce and we actually didn't really need it. The steaks were so flavorful and juicy that I think that the steak-sauce would have taken away from that. The steaks here are really great and priced really well. This will definitely continue to be my go-to spot when I am craving a well-priced, rare steak. read more
