Hubs and just about everyone on the West Coast has told me how I need, must, HAVE to come here and try their pizooki's. I guess I was kindof surprised when I realized they were a chain and happened to see this place while driving through. Naturally, we had to stop and grab a pizooki. We sat at the bar (already had dinner) and order two beers, one locally brewed BJ's (I wanna say it's the summer berry brewed cider, which was so good, but that totally screams girly-spritzer-girl-who-doesn't-drink-beer)... but that local brew and one not (a Blue Moon). Cookies and cream Pizooki's - It was everything everyone said it is: AMAZING. A cold scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dollop of oreo whipped cream (never seen that) over a gooey hot brownie! And as if we couldn't get more glutinous, our fabulous bartending waitress mentioned how good the S'Mores pizooki was. So it's safe to say we'll be back to try that AND the food next time. We went to BJs a lot at least once a week. We did dine in for first time since covid. No menus!!! Ugh. QR code's didn't work well. My daughter ordered pasta with no chicken and we had to pick off the chicken... frustrating. Prices went way up! Waitress didn't come by very much. Came on a Sunday night with 4 friends and waited about 20 min at the bar until the beeper vibrated. We were seated in one of those half circle booths. Ordered the chicken potstickers, handcrafted root beer, and brewhouse burger with wedges. Potstickers - not really impressed and didnt have enough flavor. Also $9.50 for 6. Root beer - too much carbonation, but I liked the taste Burger - BANGIN! It was perfect and they were not stingy with the wedges either. I enjoyed every bite. It was worth the money (exception: potstickers) and you get what you pay for! I would like to add that my friends couldnt finish their meal and had to take the rest home ;) And also, the service was great! read more

We've eaten at BJ's a few times before and always enjoyed it, but this last time was a disappointment. After we were seated it took the waiter 15 minutes to come to the table. After he finally it did, it took 10 minutes to get our drinks, and one of them was wrong. We weren't waiting for mixed drinks, it was just a soda, an unsweet tea and a water. It took half an hour for the food to come out and when it did, it wasn't great. The brussel sprouts on my dish and in my wife's salad were mushy and bland. My wife ordered a salad with blacked chicken. The chicken she got wasn't blackened. It looked like the precooked chicken strips you buy in grocery stores. And there was barely any on the salad. Instead of being on top, it was a handful of small bits of chicken mixed in with the salad, almost as if to hide the fact there was barely any there. read more

Overall just not a good experience. We had reservations for 8 people but the table they picked was definitely not for made for 8 and we are all pretty average size people. Maybe 8 kids comfortably. I just want to start with our waiter was nice and showed empathy throughout the night. All 3 1/2 hours. A dinner that should've been at most 2 hours. Sadly I feel like he was being over worked. He had way too many table to deal with that he wasn't able to check on us as offered. Took 20+ minutes to get any drink. We waited 45-1 hour for our food and when we did get it it was cold.. empty cups weren't removed from the table without being asked. Food.. I feel like everything had the potential to be really good but it was all cold and one sandwich had an avocado that was just rubber and not edible. I feel like this could've been such a great experience if they would've staffed correctly or at the least if they didn't have enough staff members they shouldn't have seated so many people. I am very disappointed in how BJs is being run and feel bad for the staff for probably being overwhelmed with responsibilities with little to no help. read more

Decent food, if not a bit overpriced. Large variety of various beef/chicken/healthy options! Service is very spotty for the second week in a row. Good craft beer selection and variety, but also a bit pricey. This NFL season, the restaurant hosts the local Cleveland Browns backer club, but they offer no sound on the games for game day, one server who also has other sections. read more

After a shopping trip at Francis Scott Key Mall with our granddaughter, Ash, and her friend, Mac, we were all hungry. BJ's is right across the parking lot so we decided to give it a try and I'm glad we did. First, it was a very attractive restaurant. I didn't explore but it seems to be divided into three sections: booths lining the walls in the center; a bar area to the left; and since they were seating large parties there, I would guess tables that can be rearranged as needed on the right side. There was a very attractive border (crown molding?) between the wall and the ceiling. The menu is extensive and includes "light fare" selections. Our granddaughter ordered salmon, her friend a bacon cheese burger (obviously not from the "light fare" page!), husband a chicken dish, and I had soup and salad. The bacon cheese burger was huge and included a plate full of fries. Mac dug right into the fries and announced they were fantastic. I told her by saying that she was inviting the rest of us to sample one and I did. She was right--they were delicious. She ate most of them before she tackled the burger and I was surprised when she was able to almost finish it. The salmon dish came with couscous and the chicken dish with quinoa and Ash and husband said their meals were very good. My salad was very nice with field greens and tomatoes. The cream of broccoli soup was creamier than I expected and I liked that it didn't have huge chunks of broccoli in it, but instead seems to have been lightly pureed. I debated between 3 and 4 stars, but without going into detail, their hiring practices earned them 4 stars. read more

The food was ok but the service was a bit shaky. It was pretty nippy outside and we were sat right in front of the door. Everyone ordered water with lemon except for my 40 year old uncle who asked for a voodoo ranger which they were out of so he then ordered a draft beer. Despite my uncle having almost a full grey beard and standing 6'7in tall he was then asked to show ID to "verify his age". The waitress made him take his entire ID out of his wallet just to act as if she couldn't see his date of birth. They were out of Mac and cheese balls and our waitress took 20 minutes just to bring us our lemons we asked for with the waters. Our appetizers came out right with our food which sucked but The food was pretty good. Terrible experience! My friend got a beer and upon picking it up the bottom seal of the glass broke. No user error what so ever. The beer spilled all over us and the table, soaking out bags and pants. None of the staff seemed concerned. Some guy brought over a few towels and that was it. No mop. No sorry. Just a replacement beer. They brought us the check with the beer that spilled all over us still on the bill. Upon speaking to the snarky manager, we got that beer taken off the bill. Ate here in a Sunday at noon. After sitting down checked yelp and was slightly concerned based on the reviews. But we were very happy. The waitress was very good, the service efficient. All three entrees were good to excellent. I had chicken club, others had a burger (excellent) and the last had a kale salad which she also loved. Good atmosphere not too loud and tables spaced nicely. Recommend especially for a "chain". read more

Waited another 45 minutes and checked again. Told next seating would be us. 45 minutes later spoke to manager who said another hour wait. How can this be?? Told manager we had baby with us. Couldn't have cared less. After 2 hours we left in disgust. Worse run front of the house I have ever seen and I would give customer service a zero if score was available. Lived in Frederick well over 20 yrs and have NEVER NEVER EVER seen the customer service mess and total disregard for patrons that BJ"s delivered. The food was great! Margaritas were refreshing (and strong)! We had the clam chowder which was probably one of my favorite of clam chowders...and I have been to Fisherman's Warf in San Fran! The place was clean and had sports on all the big TV's. A great place to catch a game a grab a bite. The menu is extensive and reminded me of a much nicer Applebee's - like a neighborhood with designer finishes on the interior. We will definitely go back. read more

Haven't been here in awhile, still as good as I remember. Ordered a burger during happy hour so only $6, including swap out for sweet potato fries! My mom got the salmon which she loves here. I lived in Southern California for a long time, and absolutely loved the Avocado Egg Rolls and BJs. Last week I placed an order for them for takeout. I only live 10 minutes away. By the time I got home, the egg rolls were all mushy, slimy (they were laying on wet carrots and there was sauce all on the outside of the sauce container that was on top of the rolls), and they were put together with all of the avocado in one chunk of space, and all of the filling in the other- so all you got was a mouth-full of one or the other. If it was a $5 appetizer, maybe I would not care as much, but for $14, I expected much better. read more

Great place to meet your friends, tinder date, or possibly, your future hubby. The atmosphere is great, you can easily ghost away from your horrible date or sit back and slam some beers back with your bffs during game night. I was in there for a total of about 10 minutes. I met with a couple friends who have already stuffed their faces and were ready to leave. I managed to try out their lager, which was not too appealing to my taste. Great part of my experience was the bartender. I told her the flavor was not that great and she swapped it out for their Hefeweizen. The Hefeweizen is actually pretty damn good. Some of the worst food I've had. I ordered the clam chowder and there was so much flour in it that there were chunks of it and it gelatinized after about a minute. Came out luke warm and in an absurdly shallow dish for an EIGHT DOLLAR "bowl". I've been to high end restaurants that charge that. Not crap places at a mall. Then I had the Great White (?) deep dish mini. Apparently they don't get that deep dish means the toppings are deep, not that the bread is 2" thick with a dusting of toppings. It tasted like a Dominos breadstick dipped in their garlic sauce. Exactly like that. Horribly disappointing. Won't return. read more

Service was good. Food was awful! Tried the roasted Brussels sprouts appetizer because they'd been good in the past, but this time they were undercooked and bland. My entree was the jambalaya. The chicken was dry, and the entire dish was over-seasoned to near inedibility. And the Diet Pepsi had practically zero carbonation. Dessert: Got the strawberry shortcake pizzaookie because the menu photo of luscious strawberries and whipped cream was irresistible. When the dish arrived there were no strawberries to be seen--just a smear of strawberry syrup on the ice cream. Been here twice and both times it was very good. The Parmesan Crusted Chicken was very good. When a place says "crusted" it should have a little crunch. They don't over sauce it, over all good dish. The beer was very good, the Tatonka Stout was one of the best microbrew stouts I've had. The service was good, but I tend to eat late so not overly busy, but the staff seemed on top of things. I also really like the atmosphere... Modern feel, clean, spacious. I'll be going back, just to try a few more beers if nothing else. read more

This was my second time at this restaurant. The first time was ok, tonight was beyond disappointing. We sat at the bar where about six other people were sitting. We started out with the Brussel Sprout appetizer, which was fine actually. The only part of this experience that was decent. My companion ordered the Hickory Brisket and Bacon Burger cooked medium well and I ordered the Cherry Glazed Salmon dinner. The bartender brought us our dinners and gave us each the wrong dinner. We switched and she apologized for the mix up. We started eating and my companion bit into his burger only to discover that it was cold and RAW inside. I had to flag down the bartender because she wasn't coming back to our end of the bar. She took the burger back after we asked for it to be cooked. We waited and waited and beer glass remained empty. Meanwhile, I take a few bites of my salmon, which was ok, but then took a bite of the couscous side with tomatoes and choked. The tomatoes were so bitter I had to swallow quickly and it burned my throat going down. I took another bite of just the tomato and I had to spit it out. The taste was not a spice or flavoring, it was chemical. I had to flag down a server because the bartender disappeared after the burger incident and had not come back out to the bar area. I saved the salmon on a small plate and asked that the rest be sent back and to bring only couscous back out. Beer glass still empty. I took another bite of my salmon which towards the middle started tasting like the chemical. I flagged down the bartender, who reappeared but was cleaning the bar at the other end. I sent the salmon back and ordered a salad instead. Just then the manager came out and went through the whole "I am sorry but" speech. He said they have the finest quality food, the taste was from spices not chemicals because the chemicals are stored on the other side of the building away from the food. We told him that the tomatoes were either bad or tainted with something other than spice because the last time I was in there I had the same dish and it was fine. A short time later the burger came back for my companion and one look at it and you could see that the kitchen put RAW bacon on it. It was dangling out of the bun. A minute later my salad came. It was only then that the bartender, after being flagged down again, gave us another beer. The bacon did it for my companion and he sent the meal back and told them he wasn't hungry at that point. I never ate my salad out of fear that I was already going to be sick from the tomatoes. The manager came over again and said that had he checked the food before it came back out a second time he would have caught the bacon issue, but he didn't. The manager said he would take the food off of the bill and only charge us for the two beers that my companion had. We got the bill and it was $18+ for two beers! I looked closely and they charged us for my iced tea too which I never drank. So the bill was wrong based on the manager saying the only thing he couldn't take off of the bill was the alcohol consumed, which we understood, but $18 for two beers is ridiculous. The manager never asked us to come back, nor offered anything to entice us to come back. Not that we would have accepted because we are never going back. Update: I got very ill after my dinner about an hour later. Included burning throat, reflux, vomiting, diarrhea, and subsequently dehydration. read more

So I had been here before with my mother a couple years ago and the food was alright but a good portion, but kind of overpriced. I just went again a few hours ago and I was so disappointed. I ordered the chicken spicy peanut soba noodles. Almost $20 meal. About 18.95 but with tax it probably was 20. The food came and it was a very very small portion. Olive Garden has better portions with lower prices. It became oily after about five minutes, I felt if I didn't eat it fast enough it would just be disgusting to swallow. It was good flavor wise. I actually quite liked the sauce, but the amount of noodles and chicken was like a slap in the face. And my friend got a simple gluten free pizza with no sauce, but they got it wrong. When she told the waitress, the waitress "it is no sauce". Without even looking at the pizza that clearly, had sauce. And the waitress took over fifteen minutes to get me a glass of water. I will not be going back to this particular BJ's ever again. read more

Alex Hamilton is hands down one of the best waitresses I have ever had. Her professionalism and empathy is so apparent. We had a mix up with our order and she truly cared enough to not let it just go. She got her manager and together, they owned it and again truly cared. In the times we are in now it is rare to be treated so well, but she goes above and beyond to rectify the situation to make sure you enjoy your experience with her as your waitress. read more

To begin, we had a very large group which we called ahead for (gave them about 2 days) for a food cruise *most of us from VA some from West VA* of modified cars. They gave us a plentiful seating arrangement and had us in the far right section all to ourselves. Our waitresses we're really sweet and did their best considering there were about 35-40 of us almost all on separate checks. I had the Brewhouse philly cheese steak and it was good, decent amount of food. I reccomend the spaghetti if you're hungry it was a huge portion. All in all, it was a good experience and I would come back but it is not deserving of 5 stars BECAUSE we called ahead of time to plan accordingly and they only gave us 2 waitresses which I felt so bad for because they were both running around trying to get everything in/out/payments and the other half of the restaurant wasnt very busy and saw a few other wait staff just kinda standing around. I wish they had as a business given the 2 waitresses a little more help. All in all, good food, good staff. read more

If I had to sum this up in one line I would say "nice atmosphere, run from the food." This was my first- and likely last- visit to this restaurant. Right from the get go things did not bode well when more than one popular item on the menu was unavailable. That can be a disappointment especially to new customers. The next really serious problem was getting the entrees sent out- each one of us in our party received our food at different times. There is nothing worse that the one person getting their food nice and early and having to wait to be polite to the other guests at the same table while their items get cold/mushy/however you want to describe it. It's not that the wait staff were unfriendly; this was more of a kitchen issue where orders are not being prepared for the same table at the same time, and that is not how to do it. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs and the when it arrived some of the spaghetti was still clumped together (read: undercooked) and the meatballs were burnt hockey pucks- inedible. My son's chicken was underdone and rubbery (he did not eat it luckily). The salad was soaking in dressing (it almost qualified as a soup). I understand that times are different right now and finding qualified staff both front and back of house can be difficult (especially when people are paid more to stay home- that's a great way to encourage people to return to work); however, I would think that most places would try to put as much effort into the guest experience as possible to increase sales and drive business up. BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse apparently is not making the effort, as evidenced by many of the other recent reviews on this website. I would avoid it. I've been here twice with my best cousin whenever she comes up from PG County. The hostesses are very friendly from the moment you walk in through the revolving doors, and they hand you menus and take you to any seat of your choice. To me, the environment of the restaurant is good. The restaurant's lighting is a bit dark, but I like it. As for the waitresses, they're very friendly and they make sure that everything is good to your liking. I usually get the half rack of ribs with the Caesar salad and fries, or I just get green beans if I don't want the fries. I have to admit that the food is a little bit pricey, but totally worth it. read more

I have to say, coming here for the first time, BJ's definitely left a great impression on me. I didn't experience a long wait time. All of the staff members were pleasant from the moment that I entered and left. Zachary, who was my waiter was nothing short of excellent of receiving and bringing our orders with (I suppose a smile - under the face mask, haha) a great, professional attitude. The food was absolutely delicious and I was sad to see when I finished my meal. It's no surprise why the ribs are a popular dish with this restaurant. The alcoholic beverages were excellent as well, not watered down nor did they lack flavor. (I personally recommend the Pink Cadillac if you're looking for a sweet taste.) Be prepared to spend a little bit more on the menu, but I feel it's worth it. If you're in the neighborhood, please check this place out. I'll say, I was not disappointed. read more

But, kids wanted to try it again! SO GLAD WE DID! Had a much better experience. Pizza was crispy and toppings weren't greasy. I had Peruvian Shrimp Quinoa and it was SO FRESH AND FLAVORFUL! Hubs had tacos, which packed a good flavor punch! Didn't try the pizookie but we WILL go back. I still recommend all you parents out there have that plastic silverware on hand! Staff waa super as well! My bison burger bun was soggy and disgusting. Our Pizookie came out WAY over cooked (solid chunk) and it was burned into the pan. We had to scrape off little bits just for our daughter to try. Very disappointing, fortunately it was free but still ruined our first BJs experience. No kids silverware available?! My 5 year old got spaghetti everywhere, struggled to eAt and at one point poked her own mouth. We ended up just taking it with us for her to eat at home. Pricey restaurant with small portions. Went for the first time with someone who has been there several times. She always gets the avocado eggrolls. When she receive them today they were very spicy and she could not eat them. The previous times she got them they were not spicy. The waiter mentioned there were three new cooks did not bother to get her new ones or take it off of the bill. If we wanted anything else and she ordered the desert. Check come out we were charged for everything he did not seem to care had to ask for a manager the manager only took off the eggrolls. Manager also said that she was not the only one that complained about them being too spicy today. Needless to say she left hungry. I ordered a 6 inch pizza for $10 very small next to no cheese next to no sauce. Not worth $10. Will not be going back to this restaurant anytime soon. read more

This restaurant has the biggest menu I've seen! It was so hard to decide what to get off the menu for dinner. The tried the white peach margarita, it was very sweet but good! I got a second drink called Jerry Burst. It was a mixed beer of their red ale and their berry cider. It was lightly sweet and very easy to drink. We made it for happy hour and tried one of their apps off the that menu. The spinach artichoke dip we ordered was so delicious. Very creamy and had a great consistency. For dinner I chose the Southern Comfort sandwich. It was massive, I took a half of it home for lunch. The chicken was perfectly fried, with ham, cheese, and an awesome Alfredo sauce. It comes with fries that I also really liked. For dessert we tried the s'mores pizookie. Trust me, you need a few people to finish this thing. It is HUGE. (See a theme here? You get a ton of food!) it has toasted marshmallows, peanut butter, and chocolate on the bottom with ice cream. It is one of the best desserts I've had recently! read more
