Major disappointment is what I call this place.Went here for a family party,we were a party of only 25.I say only 25 because an establishment like this should be able to handle this size with no problems.First off the wait for our order was ridiculous,some people didn't receive their order for at least an hour and we had to keep asking for our food repeatedly. My husbands burger was 2 hours late.When we we did finally receive it some of the orders were wrong,my burger was cold,cold as like refrigerated bread cold.Asked to speak to manager and waitress had an attitude problem and eventually said she would get him and she never did.My family member had to approach him himself,I couldn't believe he was the manager when I saw him due to the fact he looked very sloppy.Management in this establishment is non existent.I will definitely not be coming back to this location or recommend to any sane individual to do the same Save your money.Walk across the street to In n Out you'll be more satisfied. read more

Not busy for a Saturday afternoon. Ordered food and was served my meal (sandwich) after about 2 mins. Of waiting they brought out a plate like we were sharing the sandwich (with my son). Told them he ordered a burger, which they went to find. After 5 minutes of waiting asked to speak with the manager. She said she would find out what happened. Our server brought out his burger and after the meal said he was comping a pizookie. The server was fine, but we never saw the manager after she went to find the burger. A decent/good manager would at least stop by the table after the fact. Guess it will be The Yardhouse next time. read more

I went to try the gluten free pizza and cookie, because like the other gluten intolerant suffers' we love to find a good food, unfortuniately, this was not the best pizza crust in the world, when desperate, yeah maybe, but not recommended. the cookie, wasnt cooked all the way and was doughy, yuck, i can do better in my own kitchen. BJ's needs to learn that gluten free does not mean TASTE FREE! they should also include a menu for those of us that are Gluten and Lactose intolerant and the increasing population of VEGAN's and Vegetarians. just a thought, i know i dont HAVE to go there, but occasionally its nice to be able to eat out instead of doing all my own special cooking. read more

Okay...I don't if it was just me thinking this but I've been to BJ's and both time we had to wait like 15 mins for a waiter to come ask what we wanted to drink...as we are waiting we look around and seeing other people coming in after us got seated right away served right away..the waiters would just walk around us.we felt very discriminated!!!!! I've been here a couple of times, and it has been usually when they have the special of 2 soups, pizza, and pizookie for like $20. I've had some bad service but the only thing that keeps me coming is the deal. I've had that they have brought all the food out at once, a hard pizookie and the waitress aren't very welcoming or attentive and service takes some time. After the first time I had a pizookie I became addicted to it and I can say that now I make my own and better tasting then the ones sold here. read more

We have always enjoyed BJ's until last week 02/06/2014, when we decided to go there for lunch....2:30 ish. The place was pretty much empty and was even able to park in the front row....for once. There was one solo gentleman that walked in just prior to us entering the restaurant. My wife and I took a seat on the bench while our daughter remained at the counter. We noticed a hostess at the take out counter look our way and seemed annoyed that there were people standing there. After a couple MORE minutes she grudgingly came over and asked the gentleman something and hearing he was waiting for someone she moved to my daughter whom I believe she thought was there by herself. My daughter is very beautiful and is regularly confronted by other girls with what can only be described as jealous and very catty. My jaw dropped when the hostess asked my daughter "What do you want?" My daughter was so flustered by the question she fumbled for a answer. The hostess then ORDERED my daughter to come stand over here and she will FIND someone to seat her. My daughter looked back at me with a look on her face I will never forget. Service is less than lackluster; consistency in food is non existant; packed location is always. Also noticed that waiters/waitresses seem to be on their phone alot. Also noticed the poor group of tables next to me went through three server changes in less than 5 minutes. One was leaving for the day; new one had to go on lunch and next one had to go on a break. Every time I come here, I'm happy. They have gluten-free options for pizza and pasta, which I appreciate. I love to get their gluten-free pizza and a black cherry soda (the ones they make in-house that come with unlimited refills). The staff is always friendly. I even broke a glass the last time I went there and they were really nice about it, even though I felt really bad... The service isn't lightning-fast, but you won't get ignored. If you have a couple hours, this is a good place to have a long lunch and relax. read more

I've eaten at this particular BJ's regularly for many years. Was in there 12/22 and it was as good as always. If you're looking for a comfortable brew pub with a good selection of beers and wide variety of food this is a good place to go. The ribs are excellent as are many of the appetizers. This is not fine dining, it's a good restaurant and sports bar. In response to some of the other comments on this forum it's worth mentioning that they close most nights at midnight and at their busiest times service can be slower. But for us overall service has been quite good and they've always been friendly and welcoming. read more

After waiting and waiting and waiting for a pizza and a pasta entree, our waitress came and told us the manager was coming over because our pizza was taken by a new server, After more waiting our order came. I could tell the pasta sat under the food warmer until the 2nd pizza was cooked. It was dry but warm. I wanted to salvage it with some lemon but the server never showed again. Had to summon another server after 1/2 the pasta was eaten. Had to wait and wait again and summon another server for our check and comp'd dessert from the manager. No incentive to come back here. I can here to celebrate my daughters promotion with my family. The kids kept moving around and so the order of things was a little out of control. But our server Lindsay S. Was outstanding. She made sure when the food came out she helped locate exactly where it went. She made sure that there was never a dirty dish on our table and we always had full beverages. Good food.I think its a little pricy but the food in general is really good.

The food here is always great but we have had problems with the service. One time the waiter did not think it was necessary to return our coin change when we paid our bill in cash before we left the tip. Another time, we were charged for something we did not order. He corrected the bill. When I thanked him for the dessert pizookie, he said he forgot to put it on the bill and then proceeded to do that. The last time, our friends paid their bill with $22 in cash. The waitress returned the bill and asked if they meant to put more money in it because there was only $2 in it. They put more money in it. When I asked the waitress if we got credit for our points, she said yes. That was 2 weeks ago and we still have received our points yet. I don't trust them. If I go again, I will double check my money, the bill and everything else. read more

I phoned ahead to ensure that the Grand Cru was still available... at the apparently at the time I phoned in- the Grand Cru was still available... but by the time we ordered the beer was no longer in inventory... I brought it to the attention of Senior Manager Mathew Burnin and Mathew sold us the last and FINAL bottle that he was saving for himself! I eat at BJ's about twice per month. I usually get their Honey Crisp Chicken salad which really is overpriced for the portion size you get. It used to be worth it but as time goes on their portion size is getting smaller and smaller. The most annoying thing to be about this particular BJ's location is the fact they hate NASCAR race fans. They have eight TV's in the restaurant and one very large screen in the middle of the bar area. I have asked them on numerous occasions if they could turn one of the TV sets on the NASCAR race. In asking over 20 times on 20 occasions they have never once obliged any of the people in our group. The last time I was there I asked the manager again if they could turn just one of the TV's to the race and he told me "fat chance of watching a race here" So, if you are a race fan don't bother going to this restaurant because they will make you feel very unwelcome. Very disappointed. I ordered online for curbside pickup, when I arrived I called in to let them know I was there. I was told my order wasn't up yet but that they would come get my payment. They bought out the food for the car next to me, and then a car after me. When I realized I'd been sitting there for 15 mins I decided to pay with the mobile app because I had someplace I needed to be. That was the trigger for my food. They called to ask if I was coming... I told them I'd been sitting outside for 20 mins. She asked my car... I told her... She said they wrote down something else. She brought my food and I realized there was no parmesan or plastic ware. So I had to go in... I mentioned that I hoped that my food was not cold to which I was told "it just came out".. Famous last words. Not only was my food cold, the pizza dough was not completely cooked! I also found what is worse than McDonald's cold fries -- cold BJ'S corn fritters - yuck!! I came here for a Birthday Lunch with a friend and my lunch was great! I had the hot Roast beef sandwich with a blue cheese wedge salad. And it was so good. I keep thinking about going back and eating it again. But unfortunately, my girlfriend got the turkey burger and it was undercooked. I'm actually writing this because of our Waiter. His name was Victor F. and he was So incredible . He was So nice about it. He took her lunch back twice and unfortunately we didn't feel comfortable about it cause it still didn't look like it was cooked enough. So he was worried that she didn't have anything to eat while she waiting, so he left the fries. After the second time of refusing the sandwich, he allowed her to order a different sandwich at no charge. And it came out so fast. I have only eaten here twice and I swear I should go more because this place is not only nice to have if you're having fancy dinner or you're going out with some friends and even if it's for a birthday party. The food here is really good and the dessert is delicious. I recommend trying it out if you have never been there drinks are so good and I have always had a good experience here. For instants as I was parking in the parking lot I had gotten out and realized there was an iPhone sitting on top of someone else's car but I parked next to, so I took it. Of course I was going to return it once someone had called. As I was in the restaurant of course the phone is ringing so I answered it and it turned out to be one of the employees. She was so happy to see she got her phone back and was so kind to buy me and my friends dessert for returning her phone. My fiancé and I went to this restaurant for my bday and it took 25 min just for a waiter to greet us. 15 min later we finally get our drink and she run off and we had to other 10 min just to order our food which we already knew what we are going to order. On a side note this waitress was really impatient she would talk to us and the ask us a question then dart off to somewhere without us finish our conversations. Hour and 15 min passed we get our food, we got the beginning plater, and soup and salad combo, and last thing we got have a sandwich. We forgot to asked for condiment so we ask other waitress and she gave us an attitude which was very rude and unprofessional. My fiancé sandwich was good but one of the condiment was really cold. My calm chowder soup was not good it tasted like it was straight from the can and just microwave it and just placed it in the bread bowl. And my fiancé and I had to wait for the check for good 30-40 min. We got at that the restaurant 4:30pm and still here which is almost 7pm. read more

First time yelp user, and probably last, but had to review today's waitress and customer service. Took a long time for waitress to come by (sitting at a dirty table that had not been bussed) and when she did it seemed like we were a bother to her. Super rude (that is until about 2 minutes before the bill came mind you - then she was personable and friendly). We put in drink orders after waiting and not being helped for about 10 minutes (we were about to leave), took the drink orders and disappeared again for another 10 minutes (we got a beer and a diet coke, taking 10 minutes). Ordered food, came out fine, no issues. Paid the bill (and tipped 18% bc i rarely tip below that), left for less than 1 minute, realized we forgot our to go box, walked back in, had already been thrown away. Manager giving some crap about how great and quick their staff is and how well they train them, even though our table sat for 10 minutes with no help/bussers (so theyre not that great). Manager reluctantly said they can make our meals again but we were in a hurry somewhere and could not wait. wont be going back to this location. read more

My friend and I were in Oxnard from out of town looking for somewhere to eat. We checked out BJs on yelp and noticed that it didn't get great reviews all the way around, but we decided to go there anyway and see for ourselves. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table (as they are a popular place), but we are glad we waited!! We don't know what everyone else is taking about! The service was just about the best I have ever seen!! The waitress never let my water glass get more than half empty, the food came out fast, and the waitress was incredibly nice!! We got the Artichoke and Spinach Dip appetizer; it was REALLY good and the tortilla chips were freshly made! I got the Angus Roast Beef Dip, which was a tad dry if you don't use the au jus, plus I didn't get the onions on it so that might have had something to do with the slight dryness, but the flavor was great! My friend got the California Burger and she said it was awesome!! I got water to drink (which can be iffy at some places) and my friend got the Nutty Brewnette beer. Both drinks were very good! The seasoned fries that came with the entrees were very good as well!! Also, for the sports fans, they have several TVs behind the bar and throughout the restaurant showing several different sports channels. The prices are quite reasonable as well! We will definitely be going back here and we recommend it to anyone looking for a really good restaurant. read more

We went to BJs in Oxnard on a Saturday evening. We waited about ten minutes to be seated, which I was very surprised. Normally, their waiting times are very long in the evenings.. Gina was our waitress, she was very prompt with introducing herself and asking us what we want to drink, from there the service took a turn for the worse!! We ordered our food about 10mins later, then we waited about 20mins and she comes by asking if they brought us out our ticket? I advised her honey we haven't even received our dinner.. She replies with, she was confused and she will go speak to the kitchen manager, as she walks away, my boyfriend and I are looking like what's wrong w her, we see a bussed bringing our food out she passed her up going to the kitchen. I believe Gina was physically at work but mentally somewhere else! She returned, apologizes, ask if we need anything, I asked for Parmesan Cheese for my daughters spaghetti, we never received it. I cut her noodles for her and my daughter ate all of her dinner, she was hungry after our long wait for our food and she had been asking for spaghetti since the night before. I needed a1 sauce food my steak, I could never get her attention as she was very busy w attending to all the other newly seated customers getting them started, she forgot about tending to her other tables. So I got any bussed attention I could and received my a1 sauce. Our drinks were empty and we were asked about refills about ten minutes after our dinner was eaten.. Very terrible service tonight! Very bad customer service, even the manager was rude!! The waiter charged my card twice, i told him about the charge he right away went to correct it without even asking which of the two amounts ( we were splitting dinner with friends) he should be putting back in. He came handed the bill back. The returned amount was incorrect and he did not even bring me back a receipt to sign on my end charged my friends the wrong amount as well. When we tried calling him over the second time he just completely ignored us, when i asked to see the manager the hostess in the front were surprised and were hesitant to go grab him. As the manager came over to our table he seemed frustrated as if we were the ones that did something wrong. He took our cards the third time to finally get everything right.
