Waited about a year to come back. This time i was pretty impressed! Kept my order simple by choosing from the lunch menu. I did the half California chicken club with thin fries, and a side of the chicken tortilla soup. Sandwich was great, fries were yummy too. meh. if it smells like a chain, feels like a chain, yeah, it's probably a huge cavernous room, with a few beer brewing stations in a glass room, and beer that tastes like it was brewed by a chain restaurant. i have the same problem with beer works on the east coast. fully respect that they're trying to brew their own beer and serve it within a restaurant setting, but unfortunately the brew house usually falls short on the beer and the restaurant food. we came here for a few brews, and after tasting a few of what they had brewed themselves, ended up switching over to the extensive list of imported bottles. service was ok, not great, and the same of the food. note: the porter that they do in house was among the blandest brews i've ever tasted. read more

I've been to BJs only a handful of times in the past few years at different locations including this one. I'm not giving them 5 stars because it took me this long to finally realize that since they specialize in pizza and beer that's really what they should stick to or at least what I should stick to from now on. Their pizza is delicious but everything else I've tried so far hasn't. First time I tried BJs I tried the Jambalaya, it was way way too salty and I just couldn't finish it. Second time I ordered their fish tacos that described them as "lightly" breaded, needless to say they scraped the roof of my mouth and made it hard for me to eat for the rest of the day. Just last night I decided to order the Cajun Pasta aka Chef Boyardee with a bottle of Cajun seasoning salt poured on top. I've been to BJ's numerous times before and have always had a really good food, service and overall experience. Unfortunately BJ's isn't the only restaurant in that neck of the woods anymore. This place has really gone down hill. My girlfriends and I had dinner here on a Tuesday night. It was busy but nothing like what it used to be. I had requested a booth and a high chair since we had a baby in our group which they kindly accommodated. That's where the good service ends. Our server was sweet, but she took a very, very long time to get over to our table. Our drinks didn't come out fast, mind you, we ordered sodas and iced tea not alcoholic beverages. We didn't put our order in until about 30 minutes after we sat down. She wasn't coming over to our table to often and didn't look our way so we couldn't flag her down. Again sweet girl but hmmmm. My friend and I ordered there $35 special which included a choice of 2 salads, 2 entrees and dessert for 2 people. I thought it was a pretty good deal! Our food didn't come out for another who knows how long. My girlfriends and I couldn't figure out what was taking so long. Again, they weren't all that busy. But we figured something was up because the booth behind us had an issue with their order. The manager came over and offered to comp their meals. He came over again at the same booth (different party) and offered to comp their entire meal. Hmmmm. Where was our apology or comp offer??? Our server, again very sweet, was kind enough to split our checks. My friend and I who ordered the $35 special paid with our credit cards. Our server came over and was going over the receipt with my friend. I was sitting at the end of the booth so didn't peek or really hear the conversation. I tossed my card over and figured everything must have checked out correctly. When my receipt came the total was about $25. It didn't hit me until it was too late. We were overcharged! I understand tax, tip and beverages were not included but I'm still trying to figure out how we each paid $25 (not including tip) for a $35 special for 2! Horrible service at the front desk. Restaurant was empty, and they gave us a 35 minute wait time for 10 people. Yet, they let a party of 9 walk right in within 5 minutes. Customer service (our waitress) seemed a little slow, even though the place was not busy. It was around 2pm on Friday. My husband was out of drink and not getting refilled. My 4 year old ordered a grill cheese sandwich with soup, but they brought my salad and my husbands soup to us first and did not bring my 4 year old's soup out. He later received his sandwich when we got our meals and we had to ask for his soup before it was brought out. Who does that, bring out the adults food and not the kids? My son was like, "mom where is my food, where is mine?" We tried to give my husbands soup to him, but he wanted the one that was supposed to be his. So he munched on some of my salad till his food came, about 10 minutes later. My pizza was pretty greasy and a little tasteless. Other food was average, but customer service lacks. If it weren't for the prices, i would have given a 1 star. They have lowered there lunch specials about $6.99 that made the bill better than the average outing for us. read more

When we walked in there wasn't anyone around to seat us so we stood around for like 5 mins waiting for someone. We finally got seated and I ordered the avocado egg rolls for an appetizer and the seared ahi salad. My 5 year old ordered a cheese pizza off the kids menu. My son loved the pizza but I wish I could say the same about my order. The egg rolls were good except the 2 that were so burnt they were inedible. The ahi salad was okay but really overdressed I couldn't eat half of it because it was just dripping in dressing. The appetizer and food was delivered together and took up our whole small table. The server was nice however once we got our food we didn't see him again throughout our meal although it wasn't his fault considering he had about half the restaurant to serve although not full it was quite a few tables. I think the kitchen staff has gone WAY downhill and wasn't impressed with the way the manager handled all of the mistakes that were made at our table. One of our steaks was underdone so we sent it back.. They literally burned it and sent the same steak back instead of starting over on a new one.. His excuse was that they were "training for the holidays and the kitchen staff are pricks"... Nice management, bro. It's insulting to send food like that out and the kitchen, expo and server could have seen that plate before it came back and corrected it. They at least comped it since nobody wanted to eat it, the three stars are only due to one of the female servers apologizing and at least they can put drinks in a glass OK. But knocking your mix drinks to be "all syrup" probably wasn't a good selling point either. read more

Maybe it was because it was a Friday night but our experience went from bad to horrible. Our half hour wait for a table became a hour because even though we put our name in and received a pager the guy behind the desk did not put us into the computer......then the table they rushed to give us was right by the kitchen so every time food came out to be delivered I had to move my chair or face being hit by a server. Then it took the waitress 10 minutes to take our order because she had two huge parties she was dealing with. By now we were starving and ordered appetizers and main course at the same time and of course the food came BEFORE the appetizers. Don't need appetizers AFTER the food .......My daughter is a vegetarian and ordered a salad and a grilled cheese. Comes with HAM in the grilled cheese REALLY !!!! Did not ask for ham, no ham mentioned on the menu.....Apology Apology they make her another, but leave her the fries. The new grilled cheese it is such a unmelted goopy mess that she cant eat it. Our server is missing thru all this and never comes back to refill our drinks or see if we need anything, but manages to find our table to give us the bill. We asked for to go boxes and after waiting another 5 minutes finally just walk out without taking home our leftovers.Complained to the desk but never saw any management. Won't be back. read more

I was at BJ's Restaurant on Wed March 29. This is the 2 nd bad service I have received. It was after lunch a party of 3, however sounded like a large group was next to us. They were very loud and either worked there or knew someone that did. The waitress spent more time with them. Our drinking glasses were not filled nor were we attended to. I returned here since I had a great lunch a few days ago. I ordered a "rib eye" steak that was over $22.00. First I had to ask for a hot potato as mine was half cooked and cold. Not a good start. I had asked for the steak medium rare and it at best was medium. It was very dry and definitely NOT a rib eye. At best it was a top sirloin and very tasteless. Had it not been that our waitress was as charming as always I would have complained very loudly. I was taking some very important people out and was so disappointed that I may never go back despite the fact that I had had several good experiences before. I feel if you are paying that much you should have no complaints and there should be no question that the food is properly represented. If I ever want a steak it will always be Wood Ranch. read more

I have been going to this oxnard Bj since it opened. Well done place with good atmosphere. The pot roast was my fav. In this bad economy I noticed alot of places have been using cheaper ingredients for their dishes and still charging the same. My pot roast used to be soft and tender simmering in sauce. The carrots were cooked soft and hot Now the same pot roast is prefab tv dinner. Not even cooked at all microwave beef chunks with some can brown salty sauce on top. Carrots right out of the plactic bag uncooked cold and bland. $15 wasted. Go there for basic sandwiches but the main dishes suck now Sad to see. read more

Jus went to the BJs Green Flash brew dinner. Have to say not impressed at all. We called ahead and asked about the dd ticket. They said if your dd doesn't eat any of the food or drink you would not have to paid for the ticket. So we made reservations for 4 drink tickets. When we got the bill we were charged for 4 drink tickets plus a dd ticket even tho the dd didn't eat anything. They charged us full price for everything, even tho we paid in advanced. They didn't even ask us if we paid in advance. The production of this dinner was very poor. Very disappointed in everything. If they knew the system didn't differentiate between a reservation for that day or a reservation before that date they should ask about it. The pours where okay depending on who you got as the server. And the pizza was a slice of pizza for the main course. It is not a really 4 course meal. It is more of a sample of a 4 course meal. The whole experience left more to be desired a lot more to be desired. I would defiantly not go back to a BJs pair dinner! read more

They said well we have another party coming in so you have to wait until we are done with them. Not knowing that we had been looking at the patio area this whole time where its set up for big parties and it had been empty the whole time we were there waiting no party at 6:30 showed up. Major disappointment is what I call this place.Went here for a family party,we were a party of only 25.I say only 25 because an establishment like this should be able to handle this size with no problems.First off the wait for our order was ridiculous,some people didn't receive their order for at least an hour and we had to keep asking for our food repeatedly. My husbands burger was 2 hours late.When we we did finally receive it some of the orders were wrong,my burger was cold,cold as like refrigerated bread cold.Asked to speak to manager and waitress had an attitude problem and eventually said she would get him and she never did.My family member had to approach him himself,I couldn't believe he was the manager when I saw him due to the fact he looked very sloppy.Management in this establishment is non existent.I will definitely not be coming back to this location or recommend to any sane individual to do the same Save your money.Walk across the street to In n Out you'll be more satisfied. read more
