Rip off! This place sucks. I've been to a lot of BJ's restaurants. Overall they're pretty good but the one in Oxnard sucks. Bought a margarita, couldn't taste the alcohol. Asked to add a shot. Ended up paying $31 for that. Bought there classic burger. It was also over priced for what it was. So, to sum things up. The drink sucked and it was over priced and the burger was terrible. My husband & I are Whole Foods-Plant Based. The easiest to describe this to someone who doesn't know what that means is to say we are vegan & do not eat refined sugars, flours or use much oil in our foods. When we go out, we look at the obvious dishes that are vegetarian & look at how we can make it vegan (omitting cheese, butter or eggs). Salads, chips with salsa or guacamole, pizza minus the meat & cheese, veggie burgers or just ordering sides as entrées is an option. Prefacing our order, I told the waitress we were vegan. I asked if the avocado egg rolls, had any dairy & found out that there is cream cheese in the mixture, which is pre-made. So, there was no way to order them without cream cheese. We ordered the "vegetarian pizza", minus the cheese. The mushrooms & olives that come with it, to be placed on only half of the pizza, as my husband hates them & I love them. My nephew had the kids personal pan pepperoni pizza. We ordered the chips & guacamole. The chips & guacamole came quickly. I was hungry & so was my husband, so we attacked that appetizer. I thought it was just me, but the guac was very bland. They served a very small container of salsa, and I kept mixing the guac with it. I told my husband, "Is it me or is this guac very bland?" He said its bland. He tips the bowl over & said, "There is no tomato, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro or lime. It's just a smashed avocado in this bowl!" I shook my head. Guacamole isn't very hard to make. It doesn't require culinary genius. It's literally mash up of a few simple ingredients. Even a college student in a dorm room can do that. I looked at him & told him not to bother complaining. So we decided we'll just wait for the pizza. My nephew got his kids pizza first. He loved it & said it was delicious. We waited a few more minutes & finally got ours only to find that THERE WAS CHEESE ALL OVER IT!!! The very first request we made was ignored. I think the staff needs to be educated as to what veganism is. We let the server know that ours was with no cheese. He quickly took it back. The waitress didn't come to our table right away to apologize for it until a later. She stated that they did make a mistake & it had a rush on it. We finally did receive our pizza, it had no cheese (hooray!), but it did have the olives & mushrooms all over. We decided not to say anything as we were starving. I told my husband we would just pick off the mushrooms & olives for him & I'd take them. Later when we got our check, the waitress informed us that they took the pizza off our bill because of the mistakes they made. And we appreciate that. I've been a patron of this restaurant for however long it's been here in Oxnard, which is about 15 years. I have had many great meals, fun times, awesome drinks & even had a couple of birthday parties here. I have always had great service & the staff has always been very friendly & nice, so I won't stop coming here. They make an effort to make right, what mistakes they have made, but I will say this, in some respects the overall service has declined at BJs & not just at this location, a few weird things have happened at the Thousand Oaks/Westake location as well. I had my wedding rehearsal dinner at that BJs, and was disappointed by a few things. I will post my review for them under that stores Yelp page at another time. Food was good but cold. But last 2 visits including today's we have had terrible service. We had to wait almost 30 mins just for drinks, both times. Our server barely checked on us. Took too long with our bill and giving back our change. Seemed as if he was giving everyone else good service but ours. It had been a few years since I'd eaten here and I'm so glad I chose this restaurant. First off, Adrian, our server was remarkable. Very attentive in this very busy restaurant. I ordered a appetizer of avocado egg roll in a tasty sauce. I could have made a meal of them. I highly recommend these. So delicious. I ordered the Tri tip. Out comes a fat piece with a light, sauce it. Yummy! Whole green beans were also in a mild sauce. Crispy crunchy full of flavor. Mom has a orange glazed pork chop. This restaurant believes in big. BIG. Mom loved it along with her garlic mashed potatoes. My husband is a burger guy. Once again, a not so tiny bacon cheese burger placed in front of him. Lots of bacon and Frank inhaled it all. I've listed the subpar service I recieved here as i noticed it. I used to love this place and would come pretty often since they opened. I will not come back again. Go over to the collection and get better service for your money. 1. Avocado egg roll out of stock 2. Restrooms in poor condition 3. Area around table in uncleaned conditioned 4. Price of food went way up for what you actually get. I can get more bang for my buck at lazy dog or yardhouse in the collection. 5. It took well over an hour to recieve my food from the time I sat down to order. 6. The chips provided with the artichoke dip are literally the cheap mission tortilla chips and there were very few of them. 7. So bad it is hard to know where to start. Hostess told us the prime rib was the special for the evening, so I ordered that instead of the ribeye I had planned. The food took forever to be served, during which time they tried to give us other people's food - twice. When the food arrived my medium rare prime rib was well done. I asked for a replacement and they said they would put the order in for one. I said, all they have to do is to cut another piece and put it on the plate. Turns out that they didn't cook a "prime rib" they were taking individual slices and putting them under the broiler. 10 minutes later they brought a replacement but is was still pretty much cooked though and not good at all. When they brought the bill they had the prime rib on twice. Tried to pay with my phone like we always do, nope, have to have iOS 17 or higher and I only had iOS 16.7, waitress said they are having lots of people that can't use it any longer. I actually left out several things that were bad about this visit, this is just the low points. We are not going back. read more

Brittney was our waitress and she was forgetful, made us wait 20 minutes for sparkling water, she was not professional and spoke to us in too casual of a tone, a wine decanter that had white wine in it had residue of red wine, clearly unwashed. I ordered a sirloin medium rare and it came medium well/well done and clearly cut from a larger piece. Service is below par. Came here for my birthday and very unsatisfied. My steak came back better but I should not have to send my food back. There was a hair in one of our pizzas. I would expect more from a chain restaurant. My birthday pizookie was COLD and had no candles and we had to remind our waitress that we purchased two others. One came with pecans that we asked be taken off and when they arrived 30 MINUTES LATER it had a handful of pecans on it and we were told it wasn't on the ticket. I am VERY allergic to pecans and we didn't even want it at that point and when asked if there was cross contamination she wasn't sure. Allergy or not food safety, from somebody with a ServSafe certification, there should be NO cross contamination. The manager tried to just take that off and give us a military discount which was 6 cents off of each item but we eventually only paid for the drinks. We have gone to a good handful amount of locations from FL to TX and now CA. We have noticed the last few times we have dined in, that the hosts seat you anywhere even if not assigned to a waiter, food quality has gone down the drain, and no longer worth it. I am not ones to write reviews, I believe this may be my first but it's taken a lot for me to get to this point. A month ago we went in before the rush, table of 3, hostess was about to sit us but a waiter comes up and says "I can take them." He sits us down in the far back and we waited 20 mins WITHOUT a greet. Go up to hostess, let her know, and nothing. No I'll get someone over, no response but more of a dismiss. We left and vowed not to go back. Fast forward to tonight, we are starving and sick with COVID. We give in, we loved BJs, maybe it's been a rough year at this location? Husband orders for curbside pickup, checked in, waited 15 mins parked and calls a no longer in service number posted on their sign. He calls the restaurant directly and finally is given our now cold food. We eat our reheated dinner...meh. Not good at all and trust me we have our taste and smell. Our child is uber excited to have his pizookie that is his incentive for taking his meds (yes we are those parents lol) and the worst happens. Had an issue with a food order i placed earlier this week. I asked to speak to the manager and spoke to Dwayne. Dwayne was so helpful and overall just amazing in resolving my issue. He truly made me feel taken care of and listened to my concerns. He was polite and professional and really helped change my mind on the service i received. Closest BJ's location to home for me. I've always had great experiences here and the food and pizza don't disappoint. My favorites are the pepperoni extreme pizza and avocado egg rolls. First let me say that I really like this chain. This location needs some serious work though. When we arrived they told us it was a 10-15 min wait. The place was maybe at 5% capacity with nearly every table open. Once we were seated, you can tell the table wasn't cleaned very well and the floor felt slippery which had the consistency of a thin layer of grease. Having worked in food service before, you can tell this place doesn't take cleanliness as a major priority. The kids were given something to color on but they were out of crayons. Ordered them Mac and Cheese and I'm 95% sure it was boxed Craft. I ordered the Buffalo Pizza and it looked poorly put together but tasted average. I haven't been to a BJ's in awhile, and with me being back in the 805 for a little bit, I decided to come here last week on a Thursday with my 21 month old son at 1 pm since I was really craving their avocado egg rolls. It wasn't busy. It took 10 min for a waiter to come ask us for drinks - water. Took another 10 to be brought back - only a glass for me and nothing for my toddler so I had to ask for one. Brought him a covered cup without a straw. Made our order of the avocado rolls and side of fries, thinking it shouldn't take that long since it's an appetizer. Looking around, I noticed a family of 4 who came way after us got their Thursday meal specials, and I'm like, where's our order?? Kept looking for a waiter but none to be seen. I did see my assigned waiter just chatting with the greeter and not once did she check on us for the entire 50 minutes of waiting for our food. Finally flagged her down and asked about my food. Her reply was, "oh, let me check. It should be done already." I asked her to make it to go since my toddler was very hungry already. 8 min later, she came back holding the damn bag in the air with her arm extended for like 2 minutes while I tend to my son to get ready to leave and I had to look at her, get the bag from her and place it down on the table myself! She was just standing there holding onto the bag. An appetizer and side of fries for $18 should NOT take over 50 minutes! I've made this order before at other busier BJ's esp in the east coast and the waiters were considerate and mindful about putting a rush on orders for young children. I gave this place 3 stars before. Not 5 because everything i got in there and get a waiter inalways get attitude, especially from the guy who puts on the fake Irish accent with the beard. I've had him a few times, and he's always a jerk, ignoring us and hanging out at tables that have several women. The fold was amazing though, which is why I still gave it 3 stars. Now they changed the menu. It's cool that they added things, but I fail to understand why a restaurant would remove items. Your bistro burger made the terrible service worth it, now it's gone. Well, that was my favorite item, and I came in a few times a month and got that every time. Now that it's gone, so am I. Never coming here again. Literally though. Why would you remove things from your menu? If not a single person ever ordered it that makes sense. But I alone at here enough to pay for the supplies it takes to make it, and I highly doubt I'm the only one to order it. If not very many people ordered it, why not cut down on how much inventory you have of the ingredients to make it? But to completely remove it from your menu.... thats just stupid. My fiancé and I decided to go to bjs on the Fourth of July. There wasn't hardly anyone in there so we figured we would be in and out. Well our food took a bit to even arrive to us and by the time it did, it wasn't hot but like it had been sitting for awhile. We had other places to be so we decided not to make a big fuss and just eat what we got. The flavor was ok, not the best that we have had before. During dinner our stomachs began to feel off and so we packed up the left overs and left. For the last 20 hours we've been dealing with serious food poisoning. We ate chips and salsa, a chicken and rib combo, and had chicken tenders. Not sure which one made us sick. The only good thing that came about that night was our server. Friday, August 2. My father was in town visiting; we were originally going to a different restaurant but changed at the last minute because we knew service and food would be good at BJ's. We ordered a 6" pepperoni pizza, Crispy Jalapeno burger medium rare (no chipotle sauce, no onion, no tomato or lettuce, no cilantro) (she replies, you want it dry then). Chicken wings w/lemon pepper sesame dry rub), California Chicken Club sandwich with sweet potato fries, Grilled Chicken Alfredo, another Grilled Chicken Alfredo, and a Shrimp Scampi w/extra lemon).  About 15 minutes later, food comes out. She sets the round serving tray on the empty table next to us. She served the pizza; it was the wrong size. Instead of putting in the 6" pizza, she ordered a pizza with six slices. The menu doesn't even show how many slices come with each. She serves one of the Chicken Alfredo, then the second one. As she pulled the food off the tray, the entire tray was tipped, and all the food was scattered on the floor. So, the ones with their food had to wait another 10 minutes for the remaining dishes to come out. So now their food is getting cold.  We say something about the pizza being the wrong size, and she says sorry and offers to take back the small and have them make the mini. The offer is declined, and she walks away. She returns about 5 minutes later and says we will only charge you for the Mini. (I'm thinking that's a given). The order finally comes out. The Jalapeno burger(for my niece) is loaded with everything, sauce, onion, lettuce, tomato and medium well done, the club sandwich didn't come with sweet potato fries, and there was no lemon with the shrimp scampi. We tell her the Jalapeno burger is completely wrong, she takes the burger away, we ask her to please look at the original order, she brings out a small overcooked plate of sweet potato fries that were missing, and brings out two small cut pieces of lemon. So we are all now waiting for the burger to be replaced because we're not going to start eating while the child doesn't have her food.   Meanwhile, the manager still hasn't visited our table to offer an apology or to take off any of the items, nothing. Finally, the burger comes (3rd time) and it's wrong AGAIN. Still has the sauce on it, still had tomato and onion. So we wait and wait and wait for the server. She's nowhere to be found. So I take the plate and go the the service counter and ask to speak to the manager, the manager does not come out but the server does, I tell her it is supposed to be dry, medium rare, REMEMBER? She rolls her eyes and takes the burger. The chef brings out the burger 5 minutes later for the fourth time. No sauce but has tomato and onion. At this point, we just took off the onion.  The manager finally comes to the table. Not judging, but there are standards for being a manager, especially In a restaurant. You have to be presentable, you are held to a higher standard. He was sweating, overweight, shirt buttons pulled so tight you could see his belly. There may have been a button that wasn't closed, shirt not tucked in and I don't know if he needed glasses but he was squinting so bad you couldn't see his eyes. He asked if everything was good now and if there was anything else we needed, then walked away. Did not apologize, did not offer to take care of any part of the meal, did not offer any free dessert. Now we can start to finally eat. At this time it is an hour and a half into the dinner and we have to leave due to prior engagement. The waitress did not bring out any of the food that was remade, so we haven't seen her since she filled drinks right after she served the initial plates. After the last burger was served we still haven't seen anyone. We sat around for a few minutes waiting for her to come by to see if everything was ok and to ask for boxes. She never came, so we got our own boxes. We packed everything up in the boxes. The bus boy cleared the table and finally, the waitress shows up with the bill. Tells us she took off the meals that fell. The bill comes and instantly my brother says, Wow!! Surprised at the amount of the bill. Only food was ordered and two sodas. Everyone drank water. So my sister-in-law, who's been a server for over 20 years, looks over the bill and sees right away that there's a problem. The original order was rung up, then the replacement order was rung up, then she deducted the cost of the replacement order. I stayed calm until now, this just sent me over the top. Now I'm pissed and I'm not going to wait around for them to fix another problem they created. I walked the check over to the front desk, asked to speak to the manager, reiterated all that had gone down, and told him we weren't paying this bill. He said, "well you're going to pay for your drinks." I said no I'm not and handed him the bill and walked away. It wasn't until I walked out I realized the only drinks ordered were 2 cokes. Bjs for us is always a good time. We enjoy coming here as a family and trying different appetizers with drinks. The waiters are always friendly and do their best as I know this location gets super super busy, especially on the weekends. We have had a few negative experiences (food has been sent incorrectly, slow to be served, homeless men walking in causing a ruckus) but I feel that bad service happens at every restraunt from time to time when it gets busy. We recently stopped in for dinner on our way home. We had been waiting to be helped or even acknowledged for a bit. Right as we were getting ready to leave James, M. stopped by our table and asked if we'd been helped. He immediately apologized for our wait, grabbed our drinks and said went to check on our server. When he returned he stated our server was a bit busy with a large party and said he would take care of us. He proceeded to give us the best service along with some great food recommendations.
