My friend and I came to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse in Santa Rosa for dinner tonight, and our waiter, Joshua Hernandez, went completely above and beyond to give us an incredible dining experience. Throughout the evening, Joshua was extremely attentive, friendly, and constantly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. We both ordered the ribeyes, which were excellent. However, due to a minor timing issue in the kitchen, my side of soup arrived well before my friend's steak and sides (mashed potatoes and veggies). Because I waited to eat until my friend's meal was served, my soup turned a bit cold. Before I could even say anything, Joshua noticed the situation on his own and immediately offered to replace it with a fresh, hot soup. This level of proactive care completely exceeded my expectations.To top it off, he was incredibly patient and helpful at the end of the night. My friend and I had a playful argument over who would pay the bill, and my friend's card was actually processed first. After we finally agreed to let me pay, Joshua didn't hesitate to help us--he immediately took the receipts to his manager, voided the first transaction, and re-processed the payment on my card in no time. Joshua's outstanding service turned what could have been minor hiccups into a seamless, top-tier dining experience. We made a reservation here for a party of 9 for a graduation dinner. Got there 15 minutes early to check in and we waited 45 minutes before got seated. The host was going to sit us but the other host stopped her and said she was saving it for another party who hadn't shown up. It was pretty disappointing that that they were saving a table for party that had not shown up nor confirm while we have been waiting for over 30 minutes. Happy hour at BJ's is well worth showering, putting on 'outside' clothes, and leaving the house! BJ's Happy Hour menu includes delicious apps -we ordered the avocado egg rolls- and drinks at prices rarely seen anywhere in 2026. My friend and I had fun chatting and people watching while enjoying our drinks. The server was very busy, but took the time to check on us regularly. I stop by BJ's a lot when I'm in the area running errands or shopping mainly because it's easy to walk in, grab a drink, and get a quick meal. The drinks are almost always good, especially their seasonal cocktails and brews on tap. The food can be a little unpredictable, I've had some great dishes and some that fell flat. Service also really varies from very attentive to pretty slow. Still, BJs is convenient, the atmosphere is comfortable and it's a safe option for a casual bite and quick drink in the area. The food coming out wasn't coming out in a timely manner. The manager was avoiding coming out to talk to us. The issue could have been lessened if he came out and explained what was happening. However, the stale bread on the club sandwich, the middle school cafeteria pizza and cold fries more than made up for it. I stopped in for a quick beer. Once I got the receipt I noticed how expensive the beer was, as well as a $1 tax added to it. I have never seen a tax added to an alcoholic beverage, if there is any tax it's usually incorporated in the cost. Quite a steal. Around town and the neighboring bars, the average cost of an IPA Pint of beer is $7-$8. For the same beer here, it cost $3 more, plus a $1 tip to always be courteous to the bartender. $12 for a Pint is obnoxious when I can go next door or anywhere else and get it for $8. We chose BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse in Santa Rosa tonight to celebrate one last dinner with my son before he leaves in the morning. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We've given this location several chances over the years, always hoping each visit will be better than the last. Sadly, tonight was more of the same. From the moment we arrived, it was clear something was off. Staff members were openly talking about being understaffed, and we overheard one employee tell her coworkers and supervisor that she was clocking out but would finish the four appetizers still in the system off the clock before leaving. That's concerning to hear as a guest and suggests there are larger operational issues. We sat at the bar, which wasn't even full, yet we repeatedly had to wave down the bartender just to place orders or get another drink. There was very little proactive service throughout the evening. The food also missed the mark. I ordered a steak cooked medium-rare with a dinner salad. After a long wait, my steak arrived--but no salad. When I asked about it, I was told the salad would come after the entrée, which defeats the purpose of ordering a dinner salad. To make matters worse, the steak was cooked well done instead of medium-rare. At this point, I should probably know better than to order a steak at BJ's, but it was still disappointing. One of our meals included BJ's signature Pizookie, but after we finished eating, we once again had to flag down the bartender to remind them about it. There was no follow-up to check on our meals, refill drinks, or see if we needed anything else. The entire dinner took nearly two hours--not because we were enjoying a leisurely celebration, but because the service was slow and inattentive. I understand that restaurants have difficult nights and staffing challenges happen. However, this wasn't an isolated experience for us. We've continued to give this location opportunities over the years, hoping things would improve, but unfortunately the level of service has remained consistently disappointing. Grace was our server tonight and she was absolutely amazing--attentive, friendly, and genuinely made our experience better from start to finish. My hubs and I went to BJ's for lunch. Kept hearing about the $13 dollar meal deals. Sounded great BUT it's only certain times and days, not everyday like Chili's or Applebees or Outback or Red Robin or any of the other restaurants. The food was ok, nothing great but $57 for 2 waters, chicken sandwich and 3 fish pieces with fries is a little high. I wish my picture of the fish stick cut in half turned out better, it was mostly breading with a slim piece of fish in there. The restaurant is very comfy and the service was great. They have a full bar but $16 rum n coke is also not reasonable, so we skipped drinks. The food was good enough but not any better than Dennys or mc donalds. You can still make a lot of money with reasonably priced drinks, a 1200% profit margin on cocktails isn't necessary. I gave 3 stars for the fantastic service! read more

I had the dark horse Cabernet that was fantastic and the Tatonka stout was on point Unfortunately the waiter was either overwhelmed or just didn't care about his job because it was a Tuesday night. Not very busy and we waited awhile to where I had to go to the bar myself to order our drinks. We observed the busser attempting to pick up food and sweep with a broom that has seen better days that was leftover from a prior party but still if I walked in and noticed the floors as they were would have not been a great guest impression The food was great. Out of every restaurant we have ever ordered from on Doordash, we have experienced by far the most issues with this location of BJ's. Be prepared to spend a lot of money and wait an astronomical amount of time, just to have your order canceled. Don't bother calling to inquire about it, you'll wait on hold long enough to just hang up (which is probably what they're banking on).
