It's been about a decade since I've eaten at black angus. I stopped going because I moved out of the valley but I had a craving for the fried zucchini so I stopped in for dinner. The food was even better than I remember. The zucchini didn't disappoint. My steak was cooked perfectly. Very impressed with my server Ashleigh, she was very personable and took great care of us. Large group so we called ahead for reservations. Taken to our table immediately upon arrival. The dining room was a little dark; love the ambience but these old eyes need more light sometimes. Unique portion of the menu called "Campfire Feasts" which is a multi-option dinner for two. You select one shared app, one each protein entree which included about 12 different options including filet mignon and lobsters. The you choose four side dishes this can be amped up two levels for a small extra charge. Finally, you select one shareable desert. Base price is $69, a great deal and cheaper than ordering the items separately. All three couples did this option. I had prime rib, mac&cheese, salad, Brussels sprout app, and a special desert 8" sugar cookie, with strawberries and vanilla ice cream. Food was good but I asked for med-rare protein and received a rare for sure. Areas for improvement are; the upgrade "Giant Prawns" were smashed large shrimp, overcooked and very dry, drink quality from the bar was low and gave me no reason to want another. Fix these and the protein temp issue and it could be a five star review. Special note was the server, Brianne. Expected more! I took my adult daughters to a holiday lunch prior to Christmas. The restaurant was not busy at all. Our server (Amanda) was terrible. We had to flag down others to get water, refresh drinks, take our order. She mixed up our steak orders, didn't EVER check back to see if they were cooked correctly. It was a frustrating experience for spending over $150! Spokane restaurants - you better wake up or you will be going out of business. Now with the minimum wage being SO HIGH, going out is a big deal. It is very expensive...and so my expectations are higher. I will not spend my money on places with lousy service, and so-so food. Black Angus - I have had marginal service every time I have gone to your establishment. There was no way for me to provide feedback to you directly...nothing on the receipt, no way on your website. However, Stephanie Banna, server in Spokane, WA restaurant, has consistently met and exceeded my high standard expectations! My husband and I frequent the Spokane Black Angus and are witnesses to the quality and taste of the food, the excellent chefs who take extra care to make my steak perfect as I request it, the managers who are always visible and communicative with the customers and to the amazing service of all the servers. BUT, there is always one that stands out as a cut above the rest. That is Stephanie. Stephanie has a unique style and a keen eye and a mastery skill for meeting the customers' needs. Her personality is always positively upbeat, welcoming, and makes me feel as if I was her only customer. Yet I can see that her other many customers are realizing the same superior service. We never have to wait any length of time to make our order. She remembers our specific requests from the first day that we began to feast at the restaurant. For example, she remembers all of my special requests which often seem to irritate other servers elsewhere. Every time, even if it has been a few weeks or so that she has waited on me, she remembers that I like my tea with extra ice and a separate glass of ice with lots of lemons, and sweet and low. She fills up my tea without me having to ask or wait for it. She always brings me a glass of tea to go before I even have to ask. She remembers that I like my steak cooked only 30 seconds on each side and ensures it is that rare before I get it. (The chefs take special care also). She anticipates all of my requests. She even graciously suggests items or various appetizers which can only augment the restaurant's revenue. She never fails to bring honey to the table even before I order my wedge salad. I may had decided to not have the wedge salad but because she remembered to bring the honey, I decide to order it. I never have to raise my hand to try and get her attention for anything I want or need. She is always ON IT! Her attention to detail and her professional and warm welcoming spirit cause us to return often. We live 1 1/2 hours away. Servers like Stephanie are rare but we need those like her to set the standard and raise the bar. If I were a restaurant owner I would want Stephanie as the "example" for others. But I am not. I was however, an officer in the US Navy, a nurse who recognizes attention to detail, and the Director of Quality, so I do believe that I am qualified to speak to the value, worth and quality of this server. If you are a working professional I urge you to skip this place for your lunch unless you have 2 hours you're able to spend away from your job. It took 20 minutes to get drinks, another 20 to get food ordered then I swear 30+ for food to arrive and then 15-20 to get the checks when we were ready to leave. The food was fine. Nothing to write home about. I do like the zucchini app quite a bit, it was the best part of the meal and I didn't even order it lol. The bowl I got was ok. However, I did email corporate and a local manager got back to me and asked for another chance to make it right, which I will give them. I am leaving five stars because even though my experience a few days ago was a bad one, It had nothing to do with the kindness of the staff.
