The waitress we had however was very inattentive and seemed to be in a very bad mood, every time we asked for something she acted like it was a bother to her and that she was mad to even be there. I know that going to Black Angus is like going to the Denny's of steakhouses, but with a new steakhouse going in right across the street, I felt sorry for Black Angus and so my boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night dinner date here. Our server was slow; I asked to get a glass of water from her 3 times, but this usually wouldn't bother me. The place was pretty empty but she was older and probably overwhelmed. I ordered a 6 Oz filet mignon, medium, and when it came out it was such a poor cut of meat, it was hard to discern between what were the chunks of mushrooms and chunks of fat. I've never been served a filet that looked like that. When I cut into it, it was so overcooked that it had a grey-brown color throughout. No variation, definitely not medium. I took a couple bites but couldn't bring myself to eat it. It was so overdone I lost my appetite. I set my plate at the edge of the table to return, and 10 minutes later when our server came to ask if I wanted a box, I replied "no, this is so over cooked it's actually gross. I can't eat it. I'll pay for my wine and the side salad but..." She literally put her hand up to my face as I was saying this before I could finish and said "OK that's why I came by and asked"...???! I've never had a server put their hand up to my face like that (talk to the hand style lol). She had acrylic nails with little gems across them. I would have thought she would offer to replace the steak but she walked away and sent the manager over to apologize and confirm that it was removed from my bill. He offered to replace it but as gross as the 1st one was, I didn't want to take another one. I just wanted to get outta there. Unfortunately this was the cook's fault; I wouldn't blame a server or manager for an overcooked steak. But with a new steakhouse literally across the street - between the poor quality cut, rude table service, and all the other restaurants in town, I don't see this working out well for Black Angus Steakhouse. The service was great but the food not too much. The whole restaurant honestly just looks old and very outdated. For the amount you paid I would have expected better food and better portion quality. The garden salad was very small and not really that much lettuce. I was shocked at the portion size. The shrimp cocktail tasted old and the sauce was very vinegary and not appetizing. The filet mignon was honestly very small and didn't look like the traditional. There are better steakhouses and this one is pretty mediocre at best. I'm only dinging one star because I had the 1/2 apps coupon for when you check in on Yelp, and they said they couldn't offer it because it's Saturday. And it only applies during happy hour. But the coupon says 1/2 apps, AND IF you were here DURING happy hour, it's ALSO half off drinks. So they didn't offer my coupon. Then, I had to sit and wait for my check for 20 minutes. Didn't even take that long for our food to come out.... Also, hubby's prime rib kinda had good amount of fat on it. Which is no biggy, I love the fat so I ate it, but just sucks for what you'd paying. Next is price. I have no problem paying for it because like I said food was great. But it is kinda expensive. We got a kids chicken meal dinner, one app. And two steaks with lobster tail. Also one mojito my man had, our little one and I had water. . Was about $165 before tip. Overall, really great. Loved the food. They should just check Yelp or have them take the coupon off or modify it or even understand it themselves.
