The red potatoes with cream gravy were just the right combination and it was paired with a vegetable medley of carrots and broccoli. We also had ordered some dessert which included the three layer chocolate cake, ice cream and a almond bear claw. Omg!! The bear claw was huge!! The cake hit the spot after dinner. The chicken fried steak fed three of us and believe me we did not go to bed hungry. One regular size and then one mini size which included the sweet cream pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage... I'm a single foster mom, and as today is Christmas Eve I spent the whole day baking. Since I didn't have time to cook, I ordered the turkey and prime rib Christmas dinners. I cannot express how upset I am, since it was delivered by DoorDash. The prime rib, which I ordered RARE, arrived cold and as dry as beef jerky - I mean like dried wood. I can't believe it. No horseradish sauce, not that I'm eating this piece of meat- it's impossible. The turkey is also very very dry. The ends look like they sat out uncovered for hours. The stuffing has no flavor and they gave cornbread muffins ?? Why when the stuffing is cornbread!??? Overall disgusted by the quality of the food and the fact that I spent $27 on each dinner!!!!!!! Came here for a late lunch, it was super quiet. Loved the quaint menu, which is inside a newspaper. Waitstaff was fairly prompt and nice. The peach tea didn't have much flavor according to my friend. Ordered basics such as chicken parmigiana and country fried steak. The steak was really good and the sides are perfect. The chicken parm was good, but the spaghetti is over cooked and the sauce was super bland like from a can. The vegetables were tasty and good for being a diner. Corn muffins were delicious and the servings are huge. Didn't have room for dessert! There's also a little area where you can buy bear souvenirs and tshirts. Never been to this location, it is very different inside from the one we normally go to but this one is closest to home. This location is very much like a diner. We ordered the fish fry it comes with fries coleslaw and hush puppies. The waitress was nice and attentive, the young man who seated us was very polite as well. The fish was crispy, I didn't like the coleslaw it has an over powering taste of vinegar, my fries were soggy. Women's restroom has a very strong sewer smell. Went to breakfast with my daughter, son-in-law and four grandchildren. Due to Covid we were not allowed to sit at the same table. The restaurant set a limit of six people per table. Doesn't matter that everyone lives in the same house or that four of the diners were eight years old and under. Since we were traveling, we had no choice but to split up and sit at separate tables. They required us to sit at separate tables so you'd think they could bring menus and silverware to each table, but nooooo. They served the big table and ignored the smaller table. I had to get up from the booth I was seated at to get menus and then again to get silverware. Our food arrives, the two littles sitting with me were eating. Next thing I know the four year old is playing with a piece of chewed gum, AKA abc gum. I freaked out, asked him where he got the gum. He pointed to under the table. My family could not sit together at the same table for breakfast but the restaurant left abc gum on the table for my grandson to touch and play with. It was fresh gum, he was pulling it like taffy. Closing out Spring Break, Spring Training and a visit with family. Decided to drop in for some Sunday Breakfast before we all jumped on Planes Trains and Automobiles. Usually Sundays here slammed with a line out the door. But we got the timing right and beat the crowd which did come. We had a group of eight and a baby. We were seat really quick, drink and orders were taken. Drinks and coffee came out pretty quick. The only issue we had was the order took very long. After three rounds of coffee enough already. Our Server (Jessica) was really good and very much aware of the order time. Once everything arrived everyone was happy and stuffing their faces. Portion sized were large, prices fair, Service was really good. Other than the time issue it was a good way to bring our visits to a close. Now I know why there's always a line here for breakfast. The lettuce was crisp, there were plenty of add-in's, and the mix of hamburger, cheese, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce with Thousand Island dressing was tasty. We had been wanting to try Black Bear Diner for a few years now. Finally we went and our first time will be our last. It started out good enough and then our order arrived. My soup spilt on my plate which could have been okay with a simple, sorry. But there was none. When we were asked the question, what else can I get you, I said yes, silverware, since there was none on the table. Our waitress said, okay I'll bring you some. Then she turned to the next table and took their order. Excuse me?? I have food that needs a way to eat it and she takes another order? How about getting my spoon so it doesn't get cold. The waitress took the others order and I expected her to get our silverware, nope. I ended up getting up to get it myself at the waitress station. Another gal came up to ask if she can help me, while I was getting a spoon and I told her, no thank you and went back to my table. About half way through the meal I was out of water and our waitress had yet to even acknowledge us or apologize for not bringing the silverware. She was giving a lot of attention to another guest which was fine but apparently didn't feel the need to check on us. Again, I ended up walking to the station and got my own refill. Oh yeah and before I got my water the waitress did stop by once but it was to give us the check and said that she will leave this here for our convenience. WOW. The food is consistent, you get what you pay for, and the service is always good. I ordered a tri-tip sandwich that was one of the best I've enter had.
