We even purchased the habanero sauce when checking out. This place had great service and food. The restaurant was a little dirty like the AC vents and one of our cups had markings on it that wasn't cleaned so the waitress got us a new cup. It was warm when eating. Like they barely had the AC running. There was a fly flying around and around the booth windows were dirty. I'm a clean freak so any dirt does bother me when dining out. If you just want some simple comfort food with gigantic servings, this is the place for you. This particular location employs some of the nicest people. The service is always excellent, we're never wanting for anything. The food is your basic American fare with breakfast served all day. Yeah, hash browns are unique. They use large shreds. My favorites are the Cobb salad and Bob's big bear burger. The chili is a must try. Everything I've ever ordered from their kitchen is well seasoned and cooked properly. Bad cold food. Bad service. Brought me food I specifically said DO NOT BRING. I guess they decided they did not like what I wanted and decided to force something that looked like chunky dog vomit & 4 or 6 pieces of bread (I also told the waitress NO BREAD) Pancakes were so cold we couldnt even spread butter on them - butter should melt on hot pancakes. Restaurant is very cute and homey. I came here on a Saturday morning and was sat immediately with a 5 top. The menu selection is also great. However, I had one major issue with this establishment. I ordered a meat lovers omelette (which was pretty bland) that came with one of their famous biscuits. I was very excited to try it until I took a piece off of the top of the biscuit and found MOLD inside. Appetite immediately ruined. I got my servers attention and he was just as shocked as I was. He told the chef and came back with the message that they were made fresh in the morning and what I saw was just burnt ends from the pan. As if burnt ends could end up INSIDE of a biscuit that had no burning around the outside. I guess burnt ends also have a green tint to them lol. Surprisingly, my boyfriends biscuit seemed fine. After a morning of fishing and not catching much, I was ready for some grub. We were in the area and decided to pop in. They have a check in system so you give them your phone number and they put you on the waitlist. We didn't have to wait long, but I will say there isn't a lot of waiting room so if it's packed - you'll likely want to wait outside. Their menu is printed like a newspaper which is unique. After looking over the menu, we decided The Volcano had a little bit of everything we wanted. My boyfriend got the volcano with no breakfast sausage, sub for extra bacon instead. I really love waffles, so I ordered the volcano with a waffle ($3.99 up-charge). We also ordered a hot chocolate and bottomless hot coffee. My boyfriend thought the hot chocolate was very sweet and would not get it again. I think the coffee was decent, but nothing super magical there either. Now on to the food. I will just say that if you are a waffle lover - specifically the waffles that have bite and texture to them - this ain't the place for that. The waffle I had tasted like a thick pancake that was shaped like a waffle. I didn't really enjoy that and probably would have stuck to the pancakes that come with the volcano considering they charge extra to get the waffle instead. Bacon was okay as well, I ordered it extra crispy but I think because they are thick cut bacon - it didn't come out as crispy. My favorite was the breakfast sausage. I thought their breakfast sausage was very flavorful and I would definitely get it again. They also have habanero hot sauce at the table for eggs, etc. and I really liked that as well. Overall I would come again, but would probably try another menu item instead. It's a decent breakfast spot and definitely better than your average iHop. I love this place! All day breakfast is a winner for me. Add to that a really good breakfast and I'm in heaven. Now, you don't have to eat breakfast because the menu has many other choices too. Now that I have been to Black Bear three times I think I am convinced this place is really good. They have a bar like a traditional dinner that usually has an opening or three. Otherwise you may have to wait 20-30 minutes for a table. Menus are all newspaper stile with historical news from Katy or something like that. So you can bide time by reading that instead of playing with your phone. Nice. I love their corned beef hash and their eggs Benedict. Both seem to be made from scratch. Their biscuits are humongous. My family and I visited this neat place on a friday night. It was pretty busy but we were greeted right away and sat within a few moments. They seem to have their stuff together! Our waitress was EMILY. She was awesome. She knew her stuff! My dad got the chicken fried steak, I ordered the taco salad and my mom ordered the chicken avocado club. The chicken fried steak was pretty amazing. My taco salad was pretty good as well (nothing speacial). It was overall a good salad. The reason why I give this place a 4 star was because of the chicken that was served. I believe my moms club and my salad had the same chicken. It tasted like a frozen chicken patties. Couldnt eat much of it. Overall we loved the ambience of this restaurant.
